I checked an online product but decided to walk in and purchase the product but the clerk noted me the products price went up. I was a little unsatisfied. I should’ve ordered online. Wish all their merchandise was available online since a few things are missing.
place is big. I’ve had enough exposure to the store, staff and stock to say – they stick it to you – and I stand behind my statement.
There’s a very good selection at this Latino-friendly music store. It’s a large store with a sizable stock on the floor for getting your hands on. It’s clean and well-lit, even if it’s in a bit of a run-down block of Broadway. This place has everything you’d expect from a music store: acoustic and electric guitars, mariachi and classical guitars, keyboards, drums, electric pianos and PA set-ups, amps, DJ equipment… Downstairs is a treat with a vast selection of traditional and ethnic percussion. You also probably won’t find more accordion options anywhere else in the city. This place has like 40 to choose from

Me gusta y me convine bien
The worse place to shop. Extremely overpriced. La Gente compran porque hablan español pero Les cobran lo triple. If they do not have an item or have never heard of it, they will tell you to your face that it doesn’t exist. Like others have said, look for a Sam Ash, guitar center or online.

Can only recommend it for loud speakers and general dj setups.
Buen servicio al cliente
Good price, good customer service.
Randomly speaks Spanish and then hang up
They tried to charge me $120 for a $60 guitar. That’s all I have to say about that.
Not that cheap but overselling salesman out on streets
3. La Casa Del Musico
Address: 1900 1st St, Los Angeles, CA 90033, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
They have a helpful staff. They are welcoming and happy to answer any questions. Their selection is small. But it’s a really good place to buy any essentials and you can order anything off their catalog.
Great good prices
Noel is awesome! Love the energy here! I bought a nice acoustic guitar great sound and reasonably priced.
How much are the acoustic guitars, what’s the cheapest one? I would really like to know
Buen servicio y buen precio
Aunque le falta un poco de organización
Se viera mucho mejor cosmeticamente
I have been coming here for three years to get guitar strings. They sell good quality U.S.A made strings and they will sell you an individual string.
En mercancía encontre lo q necesitaba, desgraciadamente la atención es pesima le dan mas atención al cel antes q al cliente.
Absolutely amazing customer service. Will definitely be coming back for any future ukulele needs.
I can’t say enough positive things about this quirky ukulele coffee shop! It’s fun to play with the instruments, take a class, get you uke customized or just be around the positive friendly owners. Even if you don’t play, it’s worth coming here for the honey graham cracker latte!
Was overcome by the uke bug amid quarantine. Having a toddler and some familiarity with a guitar, I’d purchased a Kala Waterman to ensure we had an indestructible stringed instrument around the house as a diversion from knives, fire, etc. Little did I know that the G-C-E-A tuned sprite would capture my soul. After nearly succumbing to the Amazon click/buy/return thing, I found our local Ukelele Whisperer, Jason. He, beyond being and obviously cool dude, was able to recommend a dozen uke suitors. We went through the options and he helped curate (yep, curate!) a perfect fit for my current stage of interest and development. There was absolutely no up-sell, which reflects that Jason is driven by the right stuff. I’ll be back for a super fancy instrument when my kid is out of the “throw it all” stage, and I am so grateful that Jason is running this show. I love my uke and can’t wait to dig in over the next couple of decades. Thank you!!
Good
Lugar muy pequeño. Les falta gran variedad de ukuleles. Pero excelente trato al cliente!

6. Caveman Vintage Music
Address: 3231 N Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90031, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
Just picked up a synth from Caveman and the customer service was fantastic. Eric (sp?) even chased me down to hand my receipt over after I forgot it.
The store is also really cool and offers a variety of vintage gear and albums from both established brands and more obscure companies. Definitely coming back.
This location is wicked, bought an amplifier and it is off the charts good. Very awesome service and awesome instruments. I’d prefer this place than that one Guitar Center in Hollywood
Very friendly guys with good knowledge of their product and also willing to help you find what you need even if they don’t carry it. I love the vibe here and their toys (synths)
I understand they have to make money that’s exactly what they do they have great vintage instruments and amplifiers
Great little place for your guitar needs and instruments. They also sell albums and tapes ,but there prices for album are very expensive, this is Lincoln heights, not Hollywood or Fairfax
Its all about vintage rock and roll..
7. HollywoodGuitars.com
Address: 934 1/2, E 11th St, Los Angeles, CA 90021, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
I’ve never been in this shop, but I’ve seen their work via social media and the guys clearly know what they’re doing. I’ve visited several shops in South Florida, the attention to detail coming from this one is well above average.
There aren’t enough Music Instrument Healers in this world anymore. Keep it up!
No muy bien la razon es muy caro todo
There are no guitars here anymore. It’s become a rip off dj store. Good place to avoid because there are way better dj stores in the area at better prices.
DO NOT BUY FROM THEM i wish i could rate no stars…. the offer FALSE ADVERTISEMENT & VERY, VERY, VERY,VERY, VERY POOR COMUNACATION!!!! BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK……
8. Candelas Guitars
Address: 2724 E Cesar E Chavez Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90033, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
This place is amazing. I explained the circumstances why I needed my father’s 40 yr old guitar fixed. They were very empathic and kind. I’m so grateful for this. Excellent service and workmanship. Best not only in the country likely in the world.
Great craftsmanship
The guitar instructor Kenneth is very helpful and friendly, and he is also knowledgeable about a variety of guitar techniques. His teaching style can fit the need for adult/recreational learners.
I just had the inductor switched on my wah by Eli at Guitar Center’s repair center and let me just say that it’s a brand new wah. Great work, excellent communication, and will work with you if you need a repair or mod in a hurry.
I want to go there, we are distant relitives, i am Frank de Carro and Delores Rea’s grand daughter, i knew 9f tio Candelas we (i must have been 5-6) went to visit mi tio and mi tia at their beutiful house that had a back porch the over looked a beutiful cliffside. We stayed a week, that is when i lernt that mi tio had made “micky mouse’s first guitar” . Someday i told myself i shuld stop by and say hello. Nice for the great , informational articales on your site ,cant wait to meet my family, someday
Terrible service. Needs to work on their customer service skills. I do not recommend.

Went there with @whatsbiankadoing and @iamspyda to purchase a guitar and get it tuned and it was so welcoming and we are thankful for this business
Have bought several instruments over the years from this business. Usually a good price and don’t have to worry about getting a kockknoff. Purchased a king student trombone, a bundy trumpet, a bach 36b trombone and a banjo. All great instruments.
Unable to go inside or check the products.
They sell you $7 dollar guitar strings for $20
Frauds ! They sale reused stuff and make up the prices for comissional purposes .Run!

10. Old Style Guitar Shop
Address: 510 A, 510 N Hoover St, Los Angeles, CA 90004, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
Wish I could give them 6 stars. My go-to for setups and I recently purchased a rubber-bridge guitar for a friend that he LOVES. Also Tracy is so friendly and helpful!! Old Style for life ❤️
Super boutique de guitares anciennes avec des incontournables. Excellente présentation et explication des différents instruments par la vendeuse. Magnifiques photos d’époque 70 sur les murs. A voir absolument.
With free mini-concerts with top artists, and a wide selection of great guitars, you have no reason not to visit this great shop. Tell Reuben that GUY sent you.
Nice and quaint, staff knowledgeable
Changed this review because I know Old Style is a small indie shop trying to get by …
Seems like a cool shop with cool folks who were having a bad day. They got annoyed at me playing for less than 30 minutes on a shop-built guitar … You’d think they want to sell those.
Tourists: This is probably a good shop for repairs, but not playing and trying instruments. I like a guitar store that will just let you play and try for a long while, especially if you’re a courteous player who knows how to handle guitars.
Locals: hit this place up for repairs, rare gems, and Fender-style custom builds!
On April 18th I brought my guitar in to have some binding repair work done on the fret board. They said to just leave it and in a couple of days someone would call me back with an estimate and scheduling of the labor. No one called so
I called back a couple of times and no one picked
up. I even drove by to stop and knock on the door during business hours.
Crickets…….
On a hunch today I stopped by again and walked into The Old Style Guitar Shop. When I came in they said the were closed for business. Of course they were.
They were ready to move everything outta there Pronto! Every musical instrument that had a case was on the floor ready to go out the front door.
I asked for my own guitar which they found in a
pile of other steel strings and headed back home.
I’m so glad I dropped in today. I doubt if they will be there for very long.
did a bad job twice on set ups. open string buzzing both times, why i went back the second time i have no idea. the intonation lasted about a month. these were both on american made gibsons.
the last one i got they stuffed card stock under the bridge saddles and left it hanging out. they did not ask me before charging me if it was ok to this hack DIY style repair yet charged me full price.
they also sold me what they said were flat wound strings but when i got them out of the package they were regular round wound.
AND on top of being amateurs, they are argumentative and arrogant. perhaps to cover up that they only sort of know what they doing?
Called inquiring about what Electric 6 string fenders they have in stock, and all he said was ‘it’s best you just come into the shop’. Seemed real snobby. I’m a very impulsive buyer and a serious player. I said I’m likely chasing s strat. I really want an aged white with a 70s headstock and a rosewood fretboard. And I’ve got 2k burning in my pocket. I’m also interested in a thinline tele. But he didn’t seem to really care what I was after or to give me any friendly encouragement to check out what he has, just wanted me off the phone and presumed I didn’t know what I was talking about.
11. Make It Happen DTLA
Address: 300 E 5th St 3rd Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90013, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
I stopped in early February when I was exploring Highland Park. The worker there greeted me and we then had about a 30 minute conversation, that my mom later joined in on. We spoke about Highland Park and what he loves about it. He made me feel very welcome and actually helped me come to the conclusion that it’s the right neighborhood for me. I’m moving soon and felt a sense of community. Really incredible people at Future Music.
I was on a trip, so I had no gear with me, but I will 1000% be bringing my instruments to Future Music when I move.

Customer service
Thanks for all you help
Highly recommend..
This is a weird spot, there’s some pretty rare oddities and unique items that are fun to see in person if you’re into vintage synths/audio equipment. The problem is the prices are absolutely outrageous (well above market price) and the synths are not nearly in good enough condition to justify it. The space is incredibly disorganized and messy, so I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who wants a more professional environment. It’s a fun showroom, but not much more.
This is a great store, pretty unique in its selection, and the fact it has been around for so long is a testament to the owner.
Neat shop with old equipment. lots of older dirty gear; they’re willing to wipe it down, but not clean and repair. Nothing plugged in for testing. Some of the equipment is priced and the rest you have to ask.
Cracked the finish of my $2,000 guitar – be careful when you bring instruments in there. You don’t get direct access to the tech and the owner is very sketchy. I stopped going there after that incident and am much happier with another business.
I took my guitar in to resoder my pick ups. The dude there said it would be about 15 bucks. I come back a week later and the bill was 120 dollars. The guitar tech took it upon himself to “fix the other problems” sure he fixed some stuff but honestly its giving me some problems right now and I broke a string the same day i got i back. But come on it’s like going to the mechanic for an oil change and the guy goes “oh you needed a new engine so I decided to fix it all up for you, thatll be 2000 dollars” I wish they would’ve called me first and tell me what’s up. Really wasn’t cool
The place is ok. They don’t have many instruments to choose from.
15. Mikaleno’ Guitar Setups & Repairs
Address: 440 N Coronado St, Los Angeles, CA 90026, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
Affordable! Good service and fast turnaround- thank you!!
Mike does great work at an amazing price! I’ll be taking my guitar and bass to him in the future instead of Guitar Center. Very fast turnaround too!
My 4th setup by Mikaleno. You will not find better service and you will not find a better price. He does amazing work and takes whatever you’re playing to its fullest playing potential.
16. Ginza-USA Gifts & Music
Address: 342 1/4 1st St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
Great selection of gifts, souvenirs and musical instruments.
Small shop filled with a variety of Japanese gifts and souvenirs.
Great place!
It’s not that big, from the references I collected online it was sold as a place where you can find all kind of cheap souvenirs however it’s more focus on Japanese-ish things
Owner is an absolute delight and extremely polite gentleman with a genuine love for his work and the patrons. You won’t be disappointed.
Really small to walk.
17. Going Underground Records
Address: 356 1/2 E 2nd St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
As other reviewers mentioned, I was happy to see reasonable prices. Many stores are going wild right now and losing loyal folks who have been buying vinyl for years. The quality that the buyer(s) are bringing in also deserves recognition. Hardcore/Death/Black/Goth/Avant Garde/etc is all top quality and cutting edge.
Very friendly staff who respect everyone who walks in.
Great selection and deals!
Cool, small little record store near Korea Town. They have Punk, Metal, & Rock vinyls and other various genres. Plus, they have cool used records. You should check it out at least once if you’re in the area
Buen lugar, fui y me compre un vinilo, lo malo que me salio rayado.
The main issue is the lack of selection. Otherwise, could be a great store.
18. Guitar Center
Address: 7425 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
Great spot. Don’t confuse it for Sam Ashe which is next door.
A great place to go for all your music needs.. I personally needed a music stand, strings for my acoustic guitar and a gig bag.. they didn’t have the 1st in stock but they did have the latter.. John John was very nice enough to place my order online.. great service and a very good vibe all around the store starting with the very courteous security guards..
Under construction, but still very friendly service and clean store considering what they are doing.
It’s GC, not a fantastic stock, especially of guitars that aren’t cheapies, but still a fun place to spend half an hour.
Very cool place, very fun, can play the guitars while you’re there.
Miss you guys!
Trash.. just wasted my entire morning to realize that if they sell you a brand new acoustic guitar that needs adjustment you have to pay on top of the purchase for pretty much a defective new item. I only drove up there just to test a guitar I had in mind and no other closer location had it. I was looking at their Martin but I found a Guild that sounded like fun in the store. The guy offered me a new one I should’ve just got the display model it was working fine. Anyhow these adjustments on brand new guitars should be included in the stupid purchase from a place like this. All my day gone just to return an item i just purchased thanks guitar center will be avoiding you for a while.
Came here last week and it was a horrible experience,it was the Bad customer service I waited a whole hour before anyone help me at the bass section but when he did came he took off to help someone else just a other GC stereo type. The only person helpful was the guy in the up stairs in the pedals THANK YOU sir
Would probably give them a higher rating, if they answered their phone. They just won’t pick up sometimes. I suppose they don’t have time for silly things like legitimate inquiries regarding availability of gear/inventory. This guitar center is usually the best stocked in socal – but that’s crummy customer service to just straight up not answer your phone during the day.

20. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 7360 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046, United States , Los Angeles , California , United States
Mj was super nice and helpful with helping me pick out guitar strap and stand as well as walking me through the Affirm payment process. Love Sam Ash
Excellent service as always.
I just love this place. <3 Nothing surpasses the vintage rock guitars and the classic rockin’ family oriented service that they provide!
Every time I go into a Sam Ash I find what I want at a reasonable price, and find what I wasn’t looking for also at a reasonable price.
Needed more drum stuff
Interesting place for music lovers and professionals
I came to this store instead of guitar center because it has better reviews but damn reviews be lying, as soon as I walked in the employees just looked at me and didn’t even asked me if I needed help or anything so I kept walking until I found what I was looking for but they didn’t have much so after couple minutes FINALLY this employee approached
me just to tell me if I need it to purchase an instrument real quick before they close, like trying to rush me and wasnt really helpful so I left. I felt like they didn’t take me serious as a customer maybe because of my looks or because I was a female or even because of my race (hispanic) or maybe they thought I didn’t have money, I don’t know what it was but whaterver it was it shouldn’t be like that, they should always acknowlege anyone all times. The only person that acknowledge me and made me feel welcome was the security guard guy but the rest, they sucked big TIME! never going ever again!
Good saleperson but when it comes to customer service very bad. Rude ob iPhone calls and no giving appreciation to the customer. For selling good but not for backup service. My guitar has been for almost two months and not been received a courtesy call. And when Icalled very rude people answeted. Bad customer service
Es triste que una tienda como esa,no te haga valida la garantia y te cobre cuando aun tienes media vida de garantia y o pagas o no te reparan por algo que es defecto del instrumento.
