Took my 1985 Mark III got it serviced and it sounds amazing. Very detailed on his service and explanation . Fast turn around and great customer service
Very knowledgeable, and great service!
Jack is very detailed about his work he turned my old Kramer into a newguitar playslike butter now!highly recommend his workthanks jack
Charged me $300 for a setup and pickup swap. He did not wire them correctly after 2 appointments with him. They still do not work. Now he wants to charge me 70 more dollars to replace the switch thinking thats what the root of the issue is. $370 is way too much when all I wanted was a setup and to swap my pickups. Very unprofessional.
DO NOT RECOMMEND BRINGING YOUR GUITAR HERE. $370 IS OUTRAGEOUS.
I paid him $300 to make my BRAND NEW guitar unplayable 🙁
Everything service wise was fine, but he doesnt do repairs on microamps. Wouldve saved me time and a $100 deposit had I been told that upfront.
There are not a lot of people who do repairs on microamps because they can be very difficult to work with, so make sure that if that’s what you have, that you clarify that upfront.
I have brought in about 5 guitars to Mike at Redlands Guitar Shop for various problems and fixes. He has fixed each one perfectly, on time and under budget. One of the best benefits of using a nice local shop is that Mike Bevis is always there and offers so much valuable information in addition to really knowing what he is doing.
Mike is also an active musician who has a passion for what he does. Thanks Mike and RGS for such a great job. Going to pick up my Epiphone guitar right now!
I am so happy i found this place. The guys i met are honest and dependable– Mike is awesome. Mike brought my old guitar back to life in a couple of hours. Definitely recommend this place instead of GC–my personal opinion.
We will certainly miss Mike, wonderful man, much love to the family
I don’t remember coming here but if I did I’m pretty sure it’s a cool place
Small, friendly, knowledgeable
Nice shop and affordable music lessons.
I rarely write a scathing review, so I decided to sit on my experience here for about 3 months before finally deciding to write a review. Unfortunately, I also rarely have experiences which feel so belittling, I can’t let them go. My recent need for musical supply led me to remember the poor experience I had here….
I’m an avid guitar learner, fairly new to the scene, but not as a musician (I play piano and ukulele quite a bit). I came here looking for advice as a poor student who received an acoustic guitar for a gift, but was headed toward Flamenco style playing. I came here asking if it were possible to use nylon strings on my acoustic temporarily until I could afford a classical guitar to facilitate my style. It’s a noob question, but remember I was very new at the time.
First off, what I liked:
The place was clean, had a great selection, and nearly everything you could need in short order at a guitar store. They had more than just guitars, which I really liked, as I appreciate a wide variety of instruments. Someone had come in and was playing one of the guitars. Beautiful piece to whoever that was. The laid back atmosphere hit me instantly and I expected great things from a shop that rejected the corporate giant feel.
What wasn’t so hot:
Unfortunately, what I got was the complete opposite. I was asked if I needed help, and I told an older gentleman (probably in his late 50s early 60s) about my circumstance with my guitar, and halfway into my question, he cut me off and started talking to another employee. Note: this wasn’t the long winded version. I simply said I received an acoustic guitar, started playing flamenco, and wanted to know if I could switch out stri—…. That’s as far as I got. He called another employee over and speculated on what on object was on his counter for about a minute while I stood their awkwardly. He finally returned to our conversation, I posed the question, and he said, “No,” before returning to his conversation with the employee. He didn’t offer me any other service, and for all intent and purpose I was invisible.
Final Verdict:
Maybe this guy was having a bad day. Perhaps he wasn’t a regular employee. Perhaps he was the store owner. Who knows? All I know if that I left feeling stupid and an inconvenience to the gentleman. I loved his shop, but I find behavior to a customer who would have used his services and supplies (he’s the closest guitar place to me) 100% unacceptable for business image. If I ever return and find the service more palatable, I would gladly remove this negative review. But for the service I received….
I rate this business as 1 star and would NOT recommend using them in the future.
From other reviews, I can see this shop is normally a great shop in the community. I can only hope I find the same service at a later date.
Don’t usually write reviews but this place is so horrible I felt I had to. Took my band new guitar for a basic step up. They did a horrible job and damaged my guitar. Employees are extremely rude and the owner is the worst of them all. Don’t give this place your business.
Had a fret level done, but all he did was shine the frets with steel wool and raise the action. Did not want to be confrontational so I let it go, $90 wasted plus the new strings charge tacked on. Also sold a nice guitar to this shop and they gouged me, flipped it for thousands, come to find out. Both times to same older guy. I believe the younger guy is more trustworthy.

Randy is number 1 for me in setting up my guitars! He does a fantastic job
Highly recommended for all your musical needs!!
Was there to buy parts for instrument. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
The associates here were very eager to help me find what I was looking for, and were friendly to boot! The store is well kept and professional, and it was overall a very good experience
I have an old baritone sax. Up until a couple of years ago, it played just fine. I basically concentrate on my soprano, alto , and tenor. Occasionally I play the flute/piccolo. The bari spent most of it’s time on a stand, unplayed for a couple of years. It got knocked over a couple of times and a couple of things got bent (register key, key guard). I took it to them and they said it needed a complete overhaul. I disagreed since the last time I played it, it played fine. Even gave me the “your car needs a major overhaul and you just want me to put spark plugs in it’ analogy. I took it elsewhere and they straightened the key and the other physical damage, replaced a spring and a couple of pads and the neck cork and it play just fine once again.
What words can adequately express my disapproval with this place? Two months ago, my violin bow required a rehairing, so I sent it to this place, as it was the cheapest. Turns out, it was cheap for a reason. Upon taking it home, the hairs fell apart within a week, and I had to send it in again. Concurrently, my brother, also a violinist, sent in his bow to be rehaired as well. A couple days after he received it back, it collapsed during his violin lesson. When I received mine for the second time, the hairs fell apart yet again in merely two days. So, as if we had not yet learned from our prior mistakes, we sent it in for the final time, hopefully. When we gave it to the associates, who had assurred us that they would not charge us, they insinuated that my brother and I had been mistreating our bows, asking, “Have they been sword-fighting with these?’ It was amazing that never once did they apologize; instead, they chose to shower us with condemnations, as if we were the culpable ones. Well, I learned a valuable lesson, to be sure: When it comes to Nick Rail’s, dispense with quality, bring in inadequacy. You would do well to never frequent this place.
Real bad service and bad attitude

Lyndon Taylor is a talented and interesting craftsman! I learned a great deal from him. He has spent many years immersed in creative projects and his experience certainly shows in a big way. Thanks for your time and expertise Lyndon!
Lyndon knows a lot about violins and clavichords.

This is definitely a great place to learn to play whatever instrument you want to play! I am treated with respect and like family.
They listen and have patience for the newbies!
I highly recommend this place!
The
Great guys here, got a free pic for showing their guitars love! 10/10
Cheap gear for double what it’s worth. However they have great accessories and Lance gave life back to my guitar. He fixed the truss rod and bridge to its highest potential and now my guitar is still playing perfectly
It’s ok
Nice local shop.
i got my bass back and it is worse then when i took it in. when i took it in the g string was buzzing on the first fret now it is buzzing on first, second, third and 6 fret on the a string. when i took it back they didn’t give me a refund and we were going to have to pay 60 more dollars on top of the 50 we already paid. When i was there he sat there and called me a liar that there was no buzzing and that the strings were supposed to buzz which they are not supposed to.The entire time he was saying stupid stuff and was really rude so i ended up walking out and having my dad try and help and he got the same thing i did. We talked to my uncle who has been playing music since he was 9 and he said the same thing that what happened wasn’t right and the problem with my bass wasn’t supposed to be there. The old man also messed up the nut on my bass when he put it on because its not centered and it needs to be. DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE BAD!!
In the amount of time between their posted hours and when they actually opened, I could have gone to Nick Rail and back. From now on, I will.
Shady. Get anyone to call back is difficult.
I had 2 instruments left for repair. And one French horn looking to sell to them.
The clarinet was not fixed at all. Still the same problem. They told me to wait for all instruments to be completed to pick them up.
The hofner bass I tried getting repaired, it was a challenge, unfortunately piece needed was unable to be replaced.
I asked them if they would like to buy the bass. They said yes. – Sold the bass to them. Apparently, I’m suppose to know their employee rules however I am not an employee, Glenn called me later saying he was investigating my bass purchase.
Paid for the clarinet, I am not a clarinet player so I had no way of checking it.
As soon as the clarinet player Received it, who was not located in CA at the time, she only took one glance and noticed the problem was not even address not fixed. Long story short Nothing was fixed. And they kept my French horn without telling me yes they would sell it or not. I just got off the phone with Glenn and it was going no where instead he was immediate to pointing the blame in my direction. Poor business ethics.
Reply to owners message from Yelp below:
I tried several times calling the establishment, my messages were not returned. The French horn was not in lieu of payment, I wanted to inquire about an appraisal. Instead, they kept it after it only being there for a week. No Return phone call after someone looked at it. I went back for my belongings, Instead the man repairing my bass was interested in purchasing my bass, I agree since it was not fixable. So I sold it to the establishment as stated to me. I did not seel the bass $350. I have a receipt from Yucaipa Music for $200. It was my FULL intention to gather my belongings. However, due to the part needed for the bass, it took quite some time to locate it. I went into the music store SEVERAL times to check on the work being done. I even played it. Each time I was at the store , the owner Glenn was never there. So because he wasn’t there, he thinks I abandoned it. This is simply not the case. Due to his constant absence from work, he obviously does not know what goes on under his own roof when he is not there. I have Receipt proof , they paid me $200 for my bass NOT $350.

I’m so happy with my new B3 Hammond and the Leslie speaker!! I’m so happy i want another one lol lol lol!!!!
Excellent Service, Superb Products and Equipment!
I contacted Herve this morning with an urgent need for an on-site repair of our 1957 B3 / Leslie 251. Steve, a technician of Herve’s, was immediately dispatched and arrived at our commercial recording studio (60 miles away) in 90 minutes. Steve is highly skilled and fixed the issue, and also thoroughly went over both the B3 and Leslie checking that all the other systems/electronics were in good shape. His fees were very, very reasonable, and the customer service was phenomenal. I highly recommend this vendor to anyone who needs Hammond/Leslie work done.
Vintage Hammond Organs, Redlands, CA BEWARE of doing business with this company I was sold a defective Hammmond A100 and Leslie 145, Organ . After speaking to a couple of nationally known Hammond technicians they informed me that this company has a very bad nationally known reputation. Here is a quote from a nationally known Hammond tech and member of MITA ” Herve Thomas is known for throwing things together and hoping for the best. I honestly don’t know how he hasn’t been sued. Neither are countless others! He stopped doing church conventions because so many pastors are after him. I refuse to do warranty work for him”. These Hammond Technicians would not attempt to repair this A100 Organ Based on this companies poor reputation! Buyer beware! I Returned the organ as of 8/1/18 within 30 day return window. Still no refund of $6594 as of 10/30/18. Filed dispute with VISA and now Herve Thomas owes this amount to VISA and still hasn’t paid the refund. Warning don’t trust anything about this company. They have a pretty website..but don’t get sucked in by it like me!
There were 2 invoices ,,one for $250 and the other for $6594…
The $250 was refunded but as of 10/5/18 the $6594 hasn’t been refunded. If you read the owners response to this review he lied by saying that a refund had been issued. WHERE IS THE $6594 HERVE??
This guy is crooked and trying to get out of the main refund….buyer beware!!!!
10/11/18 HERVE THOMAS, AS OF TODAY PER YOUR SUGGESTION I CHECKED WITH VISA AND AS USUAL YOU ARE NOT BEING TRUTHFUL. A REFUND FOR THE INVOICE OF $6594 HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED OR PROCESSED LIKE YOU SAY IN YOUR RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW. THE MERCHANDISE WAS RETURNED AND IN YOUR POSSESSION IN A TIMELY FASHION….YOU ARE STILL WITHHOLDING THE REFUND.
I WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE THIS REVIEW AND EXPOSE YOUR DISHONESTY HERVE THOMAS UNTIL YOU DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE THE REFUND……BUYER BEWARE OF THIS CROOK!!!
HERVE, WHEN YOU REFUND THE $6594 I WILL ADJUST THIS REVIEW AND REMOVE IT.
AS OF 10/30/18 STILL NO REFUND OF $6594.
WELL HERVE, AS OF 1/27/19 STILL NO REFUND OF $6594. BEWARE OF HERVE THOMAS….I HATE TO SAY IT BUT THIS GUY IS A CROOK. SOLD ME A FAULTY ORGAN, I RETURNED IT WITHIN 30 DAYS AND STILL NO REFUND!!!!
AS OF 6/18/19 STILL NO REFUND OF $6594 AS PROMISED….YOU ARE A LIAR AND A CROOK.
