They let someone with a stolen credit card walk right in and use my card before I could report it stolen for 350.00 now what kind of business allows cards to be used WITHOUT PROPER ID. oh wait, nobody because it’s a felony to use someone’s credit card.

These guys are knowledgeable of just about any older, “classic” gear. There’s a bit of anything you might want and their stock is always changing. A cool place to check out!
It kind of feels like grandpa’s basement here, in a good way. Lots of interesting gear to browse through, plenty of it gently used and ready to be rocked again. There are some Strats hanging here that anyone would love to own, plenty of great options for tube amps, replacement speakers and even an eclectic assortment of used pedals that are worth picking through.
Pricing for everything is slightly higher than online for same items, BUT, you get to support a local business and take it home today. It’s the kind of place I’d stop in to a couple times a year if I lived here. Character.
Pretty darn rude staff, including the owner, Don. After 40 years in business I guess they’ve earned the right, though.
Tried to get my guitars worked on here multiple times. First time was an 8 string, guy said “I don’t like black guitars they scratch too easily” and then rubbed a cloth with steel wool fibers over it and scratched the guitar. GEE I wonder why! Had a pickup swap done on another guitar, put a scratch on it that went through the paint. Not only that, but he took it upon himself to do a full “set up” when I did not ask him to now I have buzz everywhere and it plays worse than it did before, then charged me for it. Oh and the pickups are also out of phase. Sorry, but that’s it. No more chances. Goodbye.
I left this store just a moment ago after being asked to leave because I had not yet made a purchase. I had originally intended to pick up a few packs of strings for my acoustic, now I’m glad I had not. I stopped by today with my friend who had told me about this store. He has been a customer of this store before and had always told me the staff here was friendly and that they have great service. We spent roughly 45 minutes in the store before the man at the counter, whom we had previously overheard talking to another customer about us saying, “What’s the deal with these two jokebags?” told us to get out of the store because we had not yet bought anything. We promptly left the store and I soon received a text from my friend saying that he had gone back inside to try to clear things up with the man that was working the counter and he told me that the man said he was not feeling well and is looking to close the store early. So if his goal is to minimize the business they get to close up early, he is doing very well.
If I could give zero stars I would. VERY slow drive thru. Literally saw the gas gauge physically drop while I was waiting. The fries were WAY over cooked (or they’d been sitting around for too long), and my order was wrong. And I ordered a “#2 plain”. Now tell me, how hard is it to slap a piece of cheese onto a piece of meat and stick it between two pieces of bread? The idiots at this McDonald’s couldn’t even manage to get that right because while I ordered (2) PLAIN cheeseburgers, what I got what anything but. Thank God I don’t see myself visiting that area again anytime soon.

I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.

This store flat out lied to me about the condition of a vintage Yamaha drum set. Will Alan Johnston the sales rep promised me this drum set was in mint condition, so I paid him and had it shipped to my home. When I unpacked the drum set it was horrible and beat up. Scratches and dings on most of the drums. I can return the drums but I’m tired of being lied to. This is the second drum set that I was lied to and had to return back to guitar center. Guitar center is losing money because they will have to return my shipping cost to me and it’s almost $200 for the 2 bad drum sets. That’s what they get for hiring bone heads that lie to make a sale.
Sat there in the Audio Center for 40 min and was totally ignored along with 1 other customer. Will take my money elsewhere or order online from now on….
I was looking at virtual instruments. Once they found out I wasn’t looking for a $500 set up, they suggested a $50 setup and said “let me know” then walked to another customer without showing the product. Not coming back. This is the third bad experience in the keys/software area.

Family run business that is an honest broker and sales staff, with excellent repair technicians. Compare them on new and used instruments, and repair cost; you will quickly use one of their locations for your music needs.

Friendly & knowledgeable but took longer than expected to get instrument serviced. I was told would be called the next day with estimate, & it was 3 days before I received the call. I told them I had to get instrument back by a specific date for a performance, he said “not a problem”, I was calling them to get it back 4 days before performance, & was able to pick it up the day before it. They kept it for a month, & I was never able to speak directly to guy doing service which was not cheap. Don’t be in a hurry when dealing with them!

Took in my guitar to get set up and to get the fret buzz handled. They told me it would take them three days. I took it to them on a Monday and I called them Thursday. They hadn’t even gotten started on it. (They said it was school season but if you tell me three days then stick by what you say) I told them I needed it by Friday morning and they told me they’d have it ready. I go that Friday morning and it was “set up” apparently. They didn’t even do my intonation and I’m pretty sure they didn’t use the string gauge I requested. To make things worse the fret buzz was horrendous. Like my guitar was unplayable, even more than before. Horrible service to say the least. I absolutely do not recommend getting your guitars set up here. Downright disgusting.
If you want to resell any instrument that you previously bought from this company, don’t do it. Don’t waste your time. You will not be offered anything close to what the store sold the instrument to you before.

Usually get good service, but I took my guitar nut to be repaired after my guitar took a spill. I let them know the guitar had fallen and hoped they would fix. The nut was replaced poorly but the guitar had a buzz. Took it back 2 more times. The last visit, the person in charge of the repair (2 weeks later)said I had heavy fingers and raised the stings to a height that made the guitar unplayable. I took to another repair shop and they repaired the nut replaced by Bailey Brothers found a couple of uneven frets repaired the frets adjusted the neck and had to re-setup the guitar from the disaster repair at Bailey Brothers. If in need of repairs I will never return to this store.
Dishonest, and disrespectful. While I’m aware they have an “all sales final” on used gear policy, it is their responsibility to properly inspect the gear they take in and not sell something that is damaged internally (in my case, a guitar amp). Idiot salesman also had a smug grin on his face the whole time my brother and I were having to deal with it (all 5-6 hours) and was making snooty comments back and forth. In a nut shell they sold me a dead amp and then laughed in my face about it. If this is how your business treats customers, don’t expect to be a business for long. I attempted a purchase with Bailey Brothers about 8 years ago. Was not a pleasant experience. This one wasn’t either. Rest assured, that’s it. I will not be back.
Update: Hey the owner called me just to prove they really do not care about customers. Tried to minimize what happened, and basically acted exactly like Keith did. Also a robotic “I apologize but we’re not going to do anything to fix it” does not count as rectifying anything. Gee wonder why the Southside store closed! Oh yeah and if you have a bad experience with them and they don’t own up to it they’ll do like any typical teenager does and tries to badmouth you on Facebook, then stalk your page. Very mature. Screenshots are great though aren’t they?
PS: Oh and buddy, if I were mad and desperate to pay my rent, then why in the heck did I buy a $700 amp from you? Nice try.
Recently brought a used instrument to these guys to be cleaned and conditioned. They charged $230 and I’m not really sure what they did beyond $40 worth of repairing. I even priced the individual parts myself and they cost a total of $23. The instrument was very dirty and they didn’t even do a good or complete job of wiping it down. We didn’t get any paperwork explicitly stating what they were going to do so we can’t really argue the point. The inside of the instrument wasn’t even touched during cleaning because there is obvious dust and grime that was there when we gave it to these guys.
We also bought a mouthpiece for the instrument, I previously priced it at $10 online and it was $35 at this place. An outrageous markup.
All of this was after agreeing to a monthly payment for an instrument only to be informed the day before it was needed that they didn’t have any in stock so we had to scramble to find a different option. Because of this, they also didn’t send us a cleaning kit for the instrument that had been fully paid for.
I will be looking for another place for any other instrument needs.
I came in here the other day and they were incredibly overbearing and checked in on me every 30 seconds. From the second I walked in they were all up in my face and insisted on providing an address and phone number whenever I paid which I fully expect to be sold somewhere. I don’t know if they’re struggling to keep the lights on or something but the amount of customer service was way too much and came across as pushy and rude. Literally just let me shop.

It was clear he loved what he does and he has a passion for helping others on their journey. I left feeling excited to learn.

My hair was matted when I took down my treebraids. Please ask questions and be aware that you can experience hair loss with the natural hairstylist’s technique. Also, I only had the style for one month, so this shouldn’t have happened. Now I have hair loss that will take at least a year and a half to recover from because I didn’t ask questions. I went to another stylist to unmat my hair, and in her professional opinion, it was the way my hair was cornrolled that caused major damage in my hair. Luckily, this stylist was able to savage some of my hair so that I could at least wear a short style instead going bald headed like a man. I would never step foot in Frosting again. Never.

I went in yesterday and asked about a Gretch open back banjo on the back wall that didn’t have a price tag. The reply I got from the bearded gent behind the counter was ” I don’t know, probably $300 or something”, and then he walked away like I didn’t exist. The vibe I got from him was “I dont want to help you. I won’t help you”. I buy a LOT of instruments and spend thousands of dollars per year on all sorts of music equipment, but this store has shown me that they don’t want my business and they aren’t interested in having any sort of customer care. I didn’t want to go to Guitar Center anymore, I would like to buy from a local store, but Guitars and More has discouraged me from doing any business with them. My advice to other customers is to go elsewhere. They don’t want your business and they don’t deserve your business.

Seem a bit overpriced to me but they have every right to ask what they wish for their vehicles, the American way.
I went on a Saturday to buy a car i test drove 1 and they told me that that’s all i could test drive. I told them i needed a car so i could get to work and intended on buying it and they made me come Monday to get the same car so Monday comes and i get to drive other cars and see all types of lights on the dashboards.so i pick the car i seen Saturday and she told me all it needed was a window Moyer and a tire Barron Saturday i was told by someone who brought me to get the car. They had to jump it off i brushed it off not thinking about it Monday. Came they hade it parked and already started for me. I pulled off the lot and went straight home. And tried to start it up it wouldn’t crank . Thank god i had another car at home to put another battery in. Very very SHIESTY and SNEAKY. Business people. Over all a decent car tho.

We drove 2 hours to see a vehicle they had there we got there and this guy Eddie Santos was the one who greeted us, we started looking around and this guy says to us if we are here to actually buy something or just looking in a rude nonprofessional way, that should have been the first red flag to turn us around but we stayed and kept looking. We went inside to his desk and this guy was constantly throwing hints at us that we were just wasting his time, we were there with a a large amount of cash trying to buy a vehicle.
We got tired of the horrible service we were getting, so half way of him taking our information we told him we were leaving because of his attitudede and his rudeness and we were taking our business elsewhere he then got upset and blocked our path out the door things were going o escalate but we kept out cool and walked out he proceeded to follow us to our car and was knocking on our window very very disrespectful he pointed at us and said something but we drove away to avoid confrontation don’t. Waste your time here.ude and overpriced and don’t have the info you need on a car
At first me and my husband were very happy with our brand new car! But It did have a few details to it like not having the light bulb working so we went to buy it ourselves. We called the next day so they could put it on for us and they complained about us buying it! They said they were going to fix the scratches it had all over the door and the hood and also the dent. A month later after we bought it it need it new tires. Okay no problem. 2 months later we took it to get rims replaced for new ones because it would shake. So I went to go pick it up and everything was fine until it wouldn’t turn on. They though It didn’t have gas so they went to go buy some and put some in, it still didn’t want to turn on. Then they wanted to see if it need a jump start, and nope that didn’t work. Then they tried the batteries,it finally turned on. After I was going to leave they wanted me to pay for the gas they had put! Haha yeah right that’s wasn’t my fault,that was on y’all. I left and right when I was about to get to my house the car stoped completely and it didn’t want to start. (I was holding the traffic) embarrassing! A few minutes later it started again. I let the car take a brake for a few hours. (4 hours to be exact) I needed to go pick up my husband from work. So I left in the car and again the car turned off on me with traffic behind me! My husband got home and we went to go try it out to see what he thought it could be and it was running good for about 35 minutes but it didn’t last longer then that because once again it stoped on the highway! We had to called a tow truck to take it back home. We had the car for only 3 months and it’s messed up we tried calling and calling and they said they couldn’t help us because they didn’t have a mechanic guy available. And we called again and still nothing they could do about it so we towed it to another dealer, and we haven’t had the car in a month. someone needs to figure something out because we do NOT want the car anymore nobody form your dealership is welling to help us, and we are tired of it, and tired of not have the car! Just bad, unprofessional!
