Been a loyal customer for over 20 years. Staff knowledgeable and always willing to help. From rock band to school band, they have what I need.
Extremely helpful and pleasant staff.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Probably my favorite guitar shop
Staff is nice. Small store, but if they don’t have it, they order it and get it to you within a couple days.
Two location. If they don’t have what you need here try the store in Collinsville.
I use to be an avid customer. But I am growing more and more frustrated with the management. I feel like I’m going into a sleazy used car dealership most the time and I am treated like a waking wallet. I’ve bought some guitars and amps there, so I am (or was) returning customer . The employees act fake and I feel like everyone is treated like they are a child. I was going in there to look around if there was any new stock, the employee kept on hovering and was forcing me to play the instrument I didn’t want to try.
Honestly, go to mojos. This place is as unpleasant as a guitar center
Was at the Edwardsville store this afternoon and one of the employees was very unhelpful and rude. Instead of helping he just told me everything was out of my price range. He doesn’t know me or how much money I had in my pocket. Will never go back!.

Excellent one stop shop for all your guitar needs. Scored an awesome gig bag at a reasonable price as well as a decent starter Austin amp. Stan the Man was more than helpful and went above and beyond to take care of my purchases as well as answer my questions. It’s customer service attitude makes you feel at home. A very under appreciated local music establishment that makes you want to come back the next time around which I will be doing.
Super cool store, family run, personal experience, would definitely recommend for all music enthusiast alike.
Amazing shop, lots of stuff for anyone into playing music. Stan is incredibly helpful and goes the extra mile (ten more miles, really). Highly recommend this shop to anyone.
4. Mojo’s Music
Address: 144 N Main St, Edwardsville, IL 62025 , Mitchell , Illinois , United States
Since Thomas has taken over ownership of the store, it’s been a joy to come in and have a welcoming experience. The store carries a lot of high end gear, but also provides instruments for beginners and intermediate musicians as well. Lessons are available as well, a nice touch. Do not hesitate to stop in if you’re in the market for a new instrument! UPDATE…Thomas has a handful of new super sweet PRS guitars in stock. Stop in for some killer deals.
Mojo’s has been and continues to be my favorite music store. Great service, great people, and a great experience every time.
Great looking staff. Especially the viking looking guy.
Fun shop for sure! Eye candy hanging on all the surrounding walls. The shop’s main focus is guitars so it’s definitely the place to go if that’s your go to instrument. Workers are knowledgeable and always very helpful. It’s no breaking news that guitar shops tend to give off awkward, intimidating vibes (understandably so when you visit any shop with high pricetagged merch) and I do have to try and hide my feelings of squirminess while there, but I enjoy going and will continue to.
Lots of inventory and they are willing to deal
I went in to get my guitar repaired, the staff members sat at the counter and talked and ignored me for several minutes. Then after they finally looked at my guitar it turned out to be a very expensive repair so I decided to just buy a new guitar. One would think this would be cue to start selling a guitar, instead they ignored me some more and made me feel awkward for playing any guitar they had. So I went to swing city music right down the road and they instantly came to help and found a guitar that was right for me.
After years of taking time off from playing music, band break up really made me step away, I’ve decided to look around for a new guitar and rig, have gone to Mojo’s, have purchase three terrific instruments from them in the past 15 years, never had a bad experience, today, however, was not the same. I walked into a store deflated of its prior pulse, I was seen and ignored, walked around looking for what would be my next stage guitar. Two employees, yet no time to greet, or attempt to make a sale, to show products, I even made an attempt by asking what’s new, even then not a singular spark of interest in my affairs with them was of significance. I walked out of there for the last time, sad to see such a place become so cold and uninviting.
They have or can order what you need in musical things ,mics , strings, stands instruments ECT.
Great independent music shop. Nice variety & selection of instruments, both new & used. Friendly, knowledgeable, honest staff, full service, and fair prices. I’ve driven the 90 miles to do business there for over 20 years.
Great place. Good for lessons
A good old school music store.
It’s a really good place. Sorry, we were the ones that crashed intk the building
I am in a spot where I need a bass today. I came in 10/8/22 ready to buy. After 10 minutes, a sales associate said hi from across the room. After another 12 minutes, every staff was chatting with the one other customer in the store, ignoring us. No wonder the place is empty every time I drive by. I hate going to guitar center, but places like this leave you little choice when you’re ignored and not helped at all. I couldn’t reach the bass I was going to purchase, so I’m just done waiting for the chatting giggly employees hanging in their “clicky” circle.
This place is so bad I’d rather go to guitar center and I hate guitar center. They are fine if you’re just going for lesson but if you’re doing any type of business seriously save yourself the trouble and go to any other local store or guitar center.
I frequently purchased merchandise over my years, normally I do business up north. I decided to buy a guitar for a gift about several months later I noticed that the bridge on the guitar was coming apart so I took the guitar back for exchange but was refused to exchange because of warranty. I didn’t expect a new guitar to come apart especially at the bridge we have several at home and never had an issue besides basic maintenance. I don’t feel as if I need to bring rulers, micrometers, calculators to purchase a instrument. Please spend your hard earned money at some other music shop if you want quality and respect.
I’ve been attending keyboard lessons, at TR Music and Voice Lessons for the three months. I couldn’t be happier with the progress I’ve made! Thanks, to the guidance provided by Ms. Madison my skills have surpassed my expectations.
It has only been a couple months and Taylor has me playing over 8 songs on guitar, learning music theory, and is assisting me with songwriting techniques! Progress with Taylor is quick, hands on, challenging, and rewarding!
I’m thinking, well, I’m going to be unsold and this is totally going to be way out of my price range. He turned me onto a brand I’d never heard of for a few hundred dollars less than I was prepared to spend. He was right! The Art and Lurtherie he showed me was amazing. I thought about it a couple days, went back, took great care of me, restrung it and set it up exactly as I like it while I waited. Great experience and would highly recommend!
Our son had his first lesson with Caleb…he had so much fun. Caleb really catered piano lessons to Max’s personality, age, and interests. Great experience so far!
Just got some things over lunch and am very pleased with the service. Prices are also very competitive, even with online prices.
Wonderful recital and know it took a lot of preparation for a 20 minute show. We were so proud of our Cecilia and know you have a great influence on her. All the kids performed so well with their solos in front of a crowd. Thank you for the presentation and hope there will be more.
Great place and very nice staff will meet your music needs at any level.
Had just what I went for
Small inventory and high prices on small items. Great sale prices on guitars though
great customer service and good guitars and pianos
Bad experience. Our band teacher left my daughters instrument there last Thursday. They never even touched it and her band recital is tomorrow. Their representative never bothered to contact the school or teacher. We drove all the way to Alton and took it to Miller’s Music on Swansea. He got it fixed enough to be ready for band recital that night! What a miracle worker. Halpins said it would take them weeks to get it fixed. OMG!
The clerk at Halpins offered an apology after I mentioned the situation. Nothing from the owners themselves. We don’t treat our own customers that way, speaking as a business owner. Sad to say, some businesses just don’t care.
3 weeks, to have simple repair done. Repair tech in Centralia is discriminatory against people with disabilities, and is a hateful man. He refused to work on my horn after it had been in the Centralia shop for two and a half weeks. They never called me about anything, I had to call them every time to find out any information about my horn. Left several messages that was never returned. Ended up having to have my horn worked on in the Alton shop, I had to to drive TWO and a HALF HOUR OVER 200 MI and pay full price for a repair with no discount even after the tech in Centralia was belligerent and derelict in his responsibilities to fix my sax after it was there for over 2 NEVER AGAIN
It seems as though the technicians that repair instruments can’t repair the instruments correctly without having to send them out for repairs. The customer has to tell and show what exactly is broken or needs repairs. Th oo bad they are the only musical instrument repair shop in Alton
Such a wide variety of records, CDs and cassettes. Accessories too!
Awesome selection of vynil records.
Overpriced on majority of everything. Some of us like first pressings, not stuff I can roll down to Target and Walmart and find 15 bucks cheaper. Luckily, there are other great spots to buy from(Rich’s is number 1 and then Riverbend)
Wide selection of new and used vinyl, many cd’s as well!
I love music stores, and this little gem in Edwardsville is no exception. Great selection of music on vinyl, CD, shirts, posters, etc. If I had any criticism at all would be the somewhat lean offering of used vinyl. This is getting harder to find, though. The owner is also very friendly and loves to talk music and about his business. Stop in the Montclair shopping center, have a Panteras pizza and buy some records, and heck why not a new turntable also!
Seemed like a decent selection but CDs were difficult to read as they were all turned on their side instead of on end so you can easily read the label as you flip through. Would have made browsing easier. Guy at counter didn’t greet me upon entering or really say anything while I was in for 15 minutes and the only person in the store. Didn’t ask if I need help, anything in particular you’re looking for, what kind of music do you like, etc. Nothing. First time at the store and won’t go out of my way to go back. I’ll stick with CD Warehouse in St Louis or Planet Score. Further drive, but great staff, atmosphere, and same/better selection. Maybe I missed something?
I wish I could leave a zero star review. The owner was nothing but rude and unprofessional. I’ll never come back worst record shop in town and I’m pretty sure they are the only one. Also the place smells like an abandoned soup kitchen. #trustychordsnomore
When I walked in, I was expected a warm welcome but instead it was the complete opposite. The owner was very unprofessional, rude and vulgar. The store itself also reeked of mold and was unbearable to even be inside. Definitely would not recommend this store to anyone!
16. Miller Music Inc
Address: 4510 N Illinois St #3, Swansea, IL 62226 , Mitchell , Illinois , United States
I love this store. I can trust that I am going to find what I need and everyone is friendly and helpful. They are patient and willing to answer any questions. You can feel comfortable there while shopping or while waiting for your child to complete a lesson. Everyone is knowledgable about what is in the store. The prices are great. This is the same owner that sold me my first flute and where I took my private lessons. This is the store that I bought my son his snare drum and where he also is taking his private lessons. Location is also great.
Mr. STEVE Miller treats his Clients like Friends. There is a Good Selection of Pianos & Musical Instruments, Learning Books AND TEACHERS !
Whenever one of my three instruments are in need of repair, this is my absolute first place to go! The staff is very friendly, and makes an effort to take it out in front of me and try to explain and show me what needs to be repaired and what they’re going to do to repair it. Prices are always super reasonable and the customer service is simply more than helpful and very outstanding!
They appear to no longer be in business.
I took my niece to Miller Music to see about having an issue fixed with her flute. The guy working looked at it for a few seconds and said he didn’t notice any issues (leaks) visible to the eye. I then asked if it would be okay for her to play the instrument for him so that he could listen, and hopefully make a diagnosis that way. He responded with, “Yeah, hurry up.” Needless to say, the instrument is still having an issue. When we purchased the couple of instruments we have, he was polite. Now that there’s an issue, “Mr. Nice Guy” left the building. I’d never recommend anyone to buy anything else from them again.
Do not put an item on consignment with this business. You will never hear from them again. Disgraceful business tactics + no communication regarding the issue. I will do everything possible to discredit this business.
The owners were rude and condescending. I got the impression that not EVERYONE was welcome in their store. They may have a large selection of music, but I’ll take my money and my dignity to other music stores.
Nice little record shop right on main street. Pretty decent sized selection and kind staff
Very informative, friendly staff
Update: I called the store yesterday 4 years after purchasing my turntable with a sound issue. I’m assuming it was the owner picked up, diagnosed the problem with a very simple solution within a couple minutes, and saved me from purchasing a whole new receiver. This place goes above and beyond in helping their customers!
Small cozy record store with a nice used section. Fun to find quirky gems in the dollar or three dollar shelf. I got a Readers Digest Classic Standards box set there for a dollar. Never been played and had 8 pristine records of jazz standards. Still have a decent amount of RSD releases. Staff is nice and helpful.
Ok
We live in Belleville and that was well worth the drive there. Would have traveled even further. Very nice selection, beats other shops around the area easily.
I had no expectations in this store. However when I came in there I was met with friendly people. Very helpful staff got answers to my vinyl related questions bought a few items. Very satisfied with my purchases.
People are rude and not helpful
Bought much of my home theater equipment from the owner years ago and I’ve had a bit of social interaction with him the past couple years. I took a subwoofer to him for repair of a very common problem with that particular piece of equipment. I’d had the very same problem a few years back and a very well-respected sound man fixed it for about $50.00. He even picked it up and delivered it back for that price!!! Unfortunately, he has since passed. Anyway, I even took written directions and a link to a video detailing repair to help with Rich’s repair. Of course, I paid a “bench fee”, and received a call a couple of weeks later telling me that they were going to outsource the repair. Another couple weeks and I was told it could be repaired for $225.00 and would be ready the next week. I agreed to the high cost because the sound is normally exceptional. Another two weeks and I get a call from Rich’s who say “we’re gonna have to decide what you want to do with this subwoofer”. I explained that it was my understanding that the subwoofer should have already been fixed and repaired. This is when they tell me that on “closer inspection” they had discovered that the amplifier was shot. I explained that it had played beautifully until it developed the all too-familiar hum and that here were countless sources reporting the same remedy. On that and two other occasions Rich’s insisted the amp was shot and would cost around $450.00 to replace!!! Remember, I had paid $50.00 before to have the same problem fixed and that I had even provided Rich’s with detailed work instructions and a video on the repair. I told them to forget the repair but that I would be picking the subwoofer up. It took another two weeks or so before it was “back to the shop”. Long story short… I took the subwoofer, and the same instructions, to a friend with a little soldering experience. The man was not an electrician or involved in electronics sale or repair in any way. Well, he did the repair as they were detailed in the directions and video that I provided and a week later the sub was up and running as good as new. Sad, but in my opinion, Rich’s was hoping to sell me a replacement subwoofer and more than likely resell mine. All I can say is BUYER BEWARE!!!
High price limited selection. Trying to make vinyl into a high priced hobby. Go down the street.
