Understand you fully, but it was not rudeness. I called and asked there hours for Saturday, and I couldn’t figure out what she was talking about. I took my mom there the next day to pay for her piano and I immediately understood. The woman, the owner is 96 years old and can’t communicate too well on the phone. She even asked me to run her credit card machine since she didn’t know how. In my opinion, and I’m nobody special, but I will bet all I own against your ham sandwich, that this lady needs to be active. If she sat at home, she would have faded away years ago.
I recently called asking if they sold a certain piano made in the ’70s. The woman who answered was very rude, kept cutting me off while I was trying to ask a simple question, and then hung up on me in the middle of the conversation. I will never purchase anything from there in the future. It was the worst customer service I have ever received.
Old cheap and dusty piano place
THIS PLACE DOES NO LONGER Exist
3. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 231 E Jefferson St, Montgomery, AL 36104 , Montgomery , Alabama , United States
Very friendly place to stop in. We stopped by just to check it out on our road trip. Staff was extremely helpful and patient. Let our child guitarist play many different. Will come again!
The gears here are high-end and great brands by the way Bailey Brothers. Thumbs up for you.
Great people
Lots of instruments. Knowledgeable staff who are willing to help. Try here before you go to guitar center. Be warned seems like some of their prices are kind of high.
The manager was very helpful & the prices were very reasonable on what we were looking for!
I usually try and call in before I go into the store and these guys usually sound like they don’t really have time for that. Quick to get off the phone, I ask a question and they respond with one word and are very blunt and just overall just seem to be uninterested in what you as the customer wants unless you’re trying to buy.
Told the repair guy I was on my way. When I got there he had left. I was going to wait until the two employees I talked to just laughed instead of apologizing. I went to Lisenby’s in Prattville and they took care of everything.
I have supported Bailey Bros. since I was a kid, but it’s time for the Montgomery store to be put out of its misery.

Very honest and very friendly owner. Mr. Gibbs is the best!! Always treats you right!! Thanks for being a great place to buy musical instruments and gear.
Mr. Gibbs is a gift to our community! Not only does he provide excellent customer service, he also has been very encouraging to my son, who plays Saxophone in his high school band! I would not do business with anywhere else!!
When you say oldies but goodies here you go The owner has a great spirit warm and welcoming I really enjoyed my experience I really appreciate him
Very friendly and helpful
6. Art’s Music Shop, Inc
Address: 3030 Eastern Blvd, Montgomery, AL 36116 , Montgomery , Alabama , United States
Brandon is a wealth of knowledge. The customer service you get from him and the team at Art’s cannot be matched at the big box music stores.
I have all my guitar related stuff done here – repairs, re-wiring, set up, string change, changing pots, swapping pick ups. Neil Young the repair man is just great. All the staff are very helpful.
They have great inventory but are very over priced. I went to get some 20 dollar mallets and they coated 50 in there
Great staff, very helpful, quick in and out service. Easy to find!
Good place to buy musical instruments.
Taken advantage of! I purchased a trombone for my son, Feb 2019, as he was in the school band. For irrelevant circumstances my son is not continuing band. The cost of the trombone was $1100. Six months later I take the trombone back to Art’s Music store to sell it back to them. The store manager told me he would give $90! The trombone had been gently used. I didn’t expect that low of an offer. I feel as though Art’s Music is taking advantage of the fact that they are one of few music stores in the Montgomery area. My son will continue in playing music but we will NEVER spend another $ with Art’s Music. Parents please shop around and know who you are dealing with!
I contacted this store about purchasing our instrument. I was instructed to contact their salesman, Mike, to set that up. He picked up our intrustment and advised in a couple of days we would hear back. After 3 weekdays, I called to check in, their staff acts like they have no clue what is happening. I must’ve repeated myself 10 times before I was told that the manager had not reviewed our instrument for purchase, so I waited several more weekdays. I called back again, got the same runaround and was told again that the manager hadn’t been in the office and had not reviewed it still. I was told she would let me know something soon, but the manager had to review it and he was out at a doctors appointment. Literally 2 minutes later, the girl called me back and said they do not carry Blessing instruments. I laughed and said okay, I’ll just have it picked up and brought back to me. Basically this company lies to customers and when they’re too lazy to inspect an instrument that they asked me to send in and then say they don’t carry that brand. Mind you, my instrument was picked up and taken to this store that is 200 miles away. What a huge waste of time and energy on my part and the salesmen. Poor customer service all the way around.
2 years ago my son started playing the trumpet. Arts came to the school as students were signing up. We financed the trumpet through Arts. For 2 years, $88 was auto drafted from my account. Do the math, but that’s over $2,000 for a trumpet. Not one late payment.
5 months ago I closed that account and opened another. My fault for not remembering Arts, but again, I’ve never physically made a payment. I make no excuses though. This was MY error. Arts say they have sent me letters and text messages. I’ve never received one.
Last week, my 13 year old calls me from school saying Arts had called his band director and I need to call their office. All of the sudden, I remember! I said I would call them when I got home. A few hours later my son calls me again from school and hands the phone to a lady from Arts who was at his school. Through poor reception, as I was on Fort Benning, in Martin Army hospital, we had a partial conversation where I agreed to call the office when I got home.
Not even 15 minutes later, my son sends me a text message telling me this lady took his trumpet.
I owed less than $500 and had paid over $2,000, but they found it necessary to come to my kids school and take his instrument from him rather than attempt to work it out.
3 days later I paid them the $500 and now have to drive 2 hours to their Dothan location to pick up the trumpet.
I don’t do reviews. I generally haven’t ever felt the need, but if this isn’t the most absurd customer service I’ve had, I’m not sure what is.
They did not text and might have sent letters, but I have moved twice in those 2 years. I didn’t receive them.
But if they were able to text, why not call? They called the school band director. Why not call me? Just ridiculous!
For a $2500 trumpet, that should include some customer service skills, or at the very least, a smidgen of human decency.
7. G.A.M.
Address: 520 Holcombe St, Montgomery, AL 36104 , Montgomery , Alabama , United States
I had Evangeline as my violin teacher for a while and she was fantastic. She went at my pace and it wasn’t too difficult. I enjoyed having lessons with her.
I highly recommend two sisters violin because Annika has been an awesome instructor to my daughter for the past year. Not only is she an extremely talented musician, she is also a patient and good teacher. She is also very accommodating when we had to change our practice time numerous times throughout the year.
Annika and Evangeline both played the violin at my wedding. Despite the rain and having to move the ceremony inside last minute, they were not frazzled at all and played so beautifully! They add depth and soul to any song they play and it made my wedding even more moving. I highly recommend them! Thank you ladies for all your hard work!
10. Guitar Center
Address: 2572 Eastern Blvd, Montgomery, AL 36117 , Montgomery , Alabama , United States
This is one of my go to places for guitar, drum and keyboard needs. Pretty cool place but some staff have a bit to much attitude sometimes, this is because they work on commissions so buyer beware.
Friendly
This guitar center has a very knowledgeable staff that will help you find what works best for you within your budget. They also have a good selection of instruments and gear.
National chain that is the Walmart of music stores.
Lots of selections of guitars and all things music.
Excellent customer service and friendly staff.
If I could leave less than 1 star, I would at this point. I have purchased MULTIPLE instruments and spent thousands in this store along with most of my family has as well. Just in the past few months, I purchased an electric drum kit, a bass with amp and cab, along with random odd things. I was in the market for another acoustic guitar (purchased the one I already have from there). Found a Tommy Emmanuel Maton Signature Series that was brought to my attention by Rob, one of the managers who has helped me out a lot. Rob has been away from work for about 2 weeks but he’s still my go to guy. So I text him and told him I wanted that guitar and that I would be up there to purchase this guitar. He then advised the store manager , Kurt, that I would be up there and to hold the guitar for me. I was told yesterday 1/27/21 that my guitar had been sold because Kurt didn’t pull it like he was supposed to 10 days ago from today. So I go into the store yesterday to purchase an in ear monitor set up and speak with Kurt about my guitar and what we could do to fix the issue. I advised him how upset I was at the situation but was never disrespectful. Kurt said it was his fault and apologized. However, I asked what we could do to fix this issue so that I wouldn’t take my business elsewhere. He advised me he was going to help me out with a new guitar if I found one I wanted, my in ear monitor set up and a new drum kit that I would be purchasing in the very near future as I play drums for multiple bands. Well, I didn’t get a chance to look into the in ear monitors while I was there yesterday. So I called Kurt today to ask about the in ears and if they had any in stock, which they didn’t. So I told him I’d call Birmingham to see if they had any in stock because I need them by Friday. He said if they did he could have them overnighted at MY expense. I called Birmingham and they did have them in stock. I called Kurt back to let him know and ask what kind of deal he could make me, based on our conversation from last night. He said “I can probably do 10%” which wouldn’t actually be 10% seeing as I was going to have to pay myself to have them overnighted. I’m EXTREMELY disappointed in this store and the Kurt. Doesn’t seem to be good customer service at all. I will not be shopping at this store anymore unless Kurt is no longer at that store. but instead May check out Birmingham. They seem to want to help me with my purchases.
Need to update the DJ gear and hire knowledgeable people. Sometimes you may be able to catch a great deal on used gear though…depends on when you stop by.
Inventory is extremely and I can’t express extremely enough Limited compared to other locations around the country

Address: 1132 S McDonough St, Montgomery, AL 36104 , Montgomery , Alabama , United States
Staff were friendly, professional, helpful and very knowledgeable of all my questions asked. Gave excellent advice.
They were really nice. They answered all of my questions, what I needed they directed me to the downtown store and even gave me a discount. I really appreciate them.
This location is small but they have an awesome selection of guitars and other instruments not carried other places.
Awesome service ✅
Nice store. Interesting inventory. But the staff wasn’t at all interested in talking to me.
