Great inventory and excellent friendly service from a fellow named Ken. Very knowledgeable
Friendly staff and good service for a small buisness . your go to place if you dont want to drive a 100 miles to Guitar Center store .
I went in yesterday and asked about a Gretch open back banjo on the back wall that didn’t have a price tag. The reply I got from the bearded gent behind the counter was ” I don’t know, probably $300 or something”, and then he walked away like I didn’t exist. The vibe I got from him was “I dont want to help you. I won’t help you”. I buy a LOT of instruments and spend thousands of dollars per year on all sorts of music equipment, but this store has shown me that they don’t want my business and they aren’t interested in having any sort of customer care. I didn’t want to go to Guitar Center anymore, I would like to buy from a local store, but Guitars and More has discouraged me from doing any business with them. My advice to other customers is to go elsewhere. They don’t want your business and they don’t deserve your business.
The people are nice but the stuff you buy here is garbage.

This is this best music store anywhere around. Cool vintage stuff, and more knowledge in a couple guys than twice the guitar center staff. Killer luthier work as well!
Harold is awesome!
Great shop for used gear and repairs. Owner will work with you on trades.
Guitars are really overpriced, but the guy behind the counter was courteous.
Staff very knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back Monday to see if I can trade my mandolin for an acoustic electric guitar I’ve been looking for.
Got a good deal on a used Vox guitar amp. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I fully intend to return.
I left this store just a moment ago after being asked to leave because I had not yet made a purchase. I had originally intended to pick up a few packs of strings for my acoustic, now I’m glad I had not. I stopped by today with my friend who had told me about this store. He has been a customer of this store before and had always told me the staff here was friendly and that they have great service. We spent roughly 45 minutes in the store before the man at the counter, whom we had previously overheard talking to another customer about us saying, “What’s the deal with these two jokebags?” told us to get out of the store because we had not yet bought anything. We promptly left the store and I soon received a text from my friend saying that he had gone back inside to try to clear things up with the man that was working the counter and he told me that the man said he was not feeling well and is looking to close the store early. So if his goal is to minimize the business they get to close up early, he is doing very well.
Tried to get my guitars worked on here multiple times. First time was an 8 string, guy said “I don’t like black guitars they scratch too easily” and then rubbed a cloth with steel wool fibers over it and scratched the guitar. GEE I wonder why! Had a pickup swap done on another guitar, put a scratch on it that went through the paint. Not only that, but he took it upon himself to do a full “set up” when I did not ask him to now I have buzz everywhere and it plays worse than it did before, then charged me for it. Oh and the pickups are also out of phase. Sorry, but that’s it. No more chances. Goodbye.
Twice treated very rudely by staff. I’m over it.

Great store with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I always find out something new when I visit. It’s also nice that the employees are gigging musicians in the area. Would recommend.
If you ever need your instrument fixed, Art’s is the place for you
I called and they didnt answear
Wonderful customer service
Nice; they’ll order in for u
You should think about buying an instrument from another source, this place is a money pit, will find ways to charge you more than you should have to pay. They have in-house repair but will charge alot for any normal wear and tear, when you turn in a rental instrument after just 4 months rental. Ended up spending around $500. Should have bought an instrument elsewhere and would have owned it for that amount. Wish I had listened to my intuition. Lesson learned.
Friendly attentive staff, but not a single guitar cleaning product of any kind except what they had open for their own use. Don’t really understand that… Part of owning an instrument is maintenance
I will never shop here again. They take advantage of the schools and over price. They finance at 300% interest. Total ripoff.
6. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Morris , Alabama , United States
always has anything i need for backline company–lewis is best drum guy in town !!!!
Excellent customer service and very friendly. They threatened me with a lot of respect. They gave me the best price I could possibly get. Thanks guys!!!!
Good service. Knowledgeable staff. Wish there was one closer to us!
good staff well organize not bad products
It was my first time in the store and I had an excellent experience. David was very helpful and friendly as well as the other staff present. The online site lacks a lot of the guitars they have in stock because they get new guitars a lot so I would advise actually going into the store to see their wide selection.
manager and owner very racist!
I would use profane language, but it would not adequately describe the crap this company pulled. Basically, I took my brother to trade a PRISTINE first-owner amp, and we could prove it, in for a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, used, which is of equal value….and my brother coughed up $100.
I took off work to take him to initially buy the thing. I took off work to bring it in for repair when we discovered sticky crap on the power tubes, and I ended up working until 10PM thanks to these guys. They wanted me to take off work again, after having spent 5 hours in their store. I basically spoke up and said, he might be the customer, but I’m the wheelman, and I’m furious. I mentioned the fact of the wasted gas, wasted trips, and the at least 6 hours of driving they were expecting of me.
They checked OUR amp out very thoroughly, and even treated my brother like a criminal, saying they are getting his DL in case he stole it. SERIOUSLY people….
I tried to talk some business sense with them, asking them to do something for the trouble, and it would not have taken much. They said no. Then I asked if they can just reverse everything since ALL of the stuff was still in the store…. The guy made up a story of a law, which actually doesn’t exist, then claiming he has to charge extra to reverse it all. Guitar Center evidently doesn’t know about this (fake) law.
Not ONLY that, but the smug, d-bag attitude that the guy gave me when pushing my brother, his CUSTOMER aside to say “you don’t think we’re trying to rip you off do you?” He did this to put me on the spot, and tried to make me look like the bad guy.
In the end, my brother spent another $170 to get a new model. In the end, he got what he wanted, but we are both appalled by how the guy behaved to our faces. Beware, their used gear has NO warranty, but they represented at sale that they would ensure the gear works if something went wrong like the day we get it… Well… it did.
You don’t take someone’s $700 amp + $100 and then give them junk, and not try to do something proper after dragging someone thru hell. That’s the bottom line. I tried more than the guy at this store. You won’t catch us in that place again.
Considering the tens of thousands that my brother spent with other companies, Bailey Brothers missed an opportunity… Not good business. Dishonest, rude, and outright condescending. Smiled at us when we expressed our frustration with the runaround….
I came in here the other day and they were incredibly overbearing and checked in on me every 30 seconds. From the second I walked in they were all up in my face and insisted on providing an address and phone number whenever I paid which I fully expect to be sold somewhere. I don’t know if they’re struggling to keep the lights on or something but the amount of customer service was way too much and came across as pushy and rude. Literally just let me shop.
7. Homewood Musical Instrument Co
Address: 1712 28th Ave S, Homewood, AL 35209 , Morris , Alabama , United States
Bob and Jason are truly amazing luthiers, offering repair and setup that’s second-to-none. They also have a number of great new and used instruments available for purchase.
I hope Google reviews doesn’t have a word limit
After taking one of my guitars to ANOTHER music store for a relatively small problem with the nut, their repair made my guitar unplayable. I wasn’t about to take it back to the same place to be fixed, so it sat unloved in its case for almost 2 years.
While this guitar would not be considered a high-end guitar, it’s a very nice Takamine, with considerable sentimental value.
I took it to Homewood Music. After I explained what happened to the guitar, I was asked if I took it a certain music store, and man, it was the one I had gone to first.
I left it in the care of Jason Burns to repair the atrocities. This involved making a new nut, repairing the damage binding at and headstock at the nut, new strings, and overall setup.
While working on it, Jason noticed some other problems with the bridge saddle that he went ahead and corrected with new hand carved bone saddle. He didn’t charge for the additional work because it wasn’t evident and discussed prior. The craftsman in him just wasn’t going to let that guitar go unless it was right.
I can’t say enough good things about Jason Burns and Homewood Music. The workshop is the majority of the space and yes there are very nice inventory of stringed instruments for sale and trade.
I would say it’s a luthier shop that also sells stringed instruments, rather than a music store that sells instruments and happens to do repairs.
They treated me, a hack amateur, and my guitar as if I were a professional musician with top end equipment.
Go to Homewood Music!
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
Good product, Good service.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.

The people here are awesome and they have great prices
Little out of place win I went and ask about a instrument
Good music store
I checked the website for the address, the website said currently open closes at 5:00 or whatever. I needed guitar strings so I decided to make the drive which is an hour each way. Get there, park and walked to the store. “Closed” !!! Sign said they are moving. Guess I learned to call in advance.
Exelente
There’s one guy there (Chet ? Chester?) who is really nice. The older gentleman comes across like he’d rather be in his office or something rather than dealing with the public. Seems he can’t keep young and talented help either, which may also be a result of his extremely unapproachable personality. I agree with the other reviewer … Decatur needs another music store.
It’s music for crying out loud … the atmosphere does not lend itself to the encouragement of instrument try out. It always seems so cold and uninviting. Not to mention that the selection is poor. No used instruments either.
Rude did not want to wait on customer like it was bothering them
