I spent more than I expected (my choice) but Don made so many points in customer service I felt more than compensated. Bought a Roland keyboard Bluetooth connectivity ☺️
The people here really care about music, instruments, and the customer. They’re very flexible when it comes to financing and have a great selection. Their available lessons are especially great! Never would have thought someplace would give viola lessons in ol Peoria.
Gd selection
3. The Music Shoppe Inc.
Address: 1540 E College Ave #4, Normal, IL 61761 , Municipiul Feteşti , Illinois , United States
Absolutely the best musical store I’ve ever been to. Their prices are super reasonable but what really makes them stand out is their unbeatable customer service. They are always willing to go above and beyond for their customers and you can tell they aren’t just trying to make an easy buck off of you. This is how you create loyal customers!
Great variety fast friendly professional service reasonably priced items
Full line music store. I was looking at guitars and basses. Lots of accessories.
I have to say I really liked The Music Shoppe! An excellent store.
I finally visited the shop to get a couple boxes of guitar strings. I just didn’t feel like ordering online. I want to see merchandise in-person!
Wonderful, friendly staff in the store. Great instrument selections.
The store was bigger than I thought, a pleasant surprise.
Make yourself feel good, check out an instrument for yourself, live…. talk to staff about what you’re looking for. Sorry, but I love these “real” businesses.
Us as parents made a mistake about payments on my son’s sax so they did what there Right was and got it back so we went in and bought one from them paid it full out that same day we bought it they informed the music teacher to take it they were picking it up the following Friday so my son had it removed from him in front of his classmates just before his Christmas concert he was crushed at something he was looking forward in doing
we had receipt for sax which we paid cash for so with them doing this my son no longer wants to do band or music just because the people at the music shop if I could give them negative 5 star I would who would tell a music teacher to take away a sax that was paid for from a child for no reason at all I hope u go out of business?
They’re expensive, the cables and accessories they sell will usually cost nearly twice in price, just go on reverb or guitarcenter and order online instead. Saving customers money. The place is fairly quiet for a music shop and they have great service and employees though, I just wouldn’t suggest buying any accessories or equipment stuff like cables for electric instruments.
4. Chesnut Family Music
Address: 110 S Front St, Effingham, IL 62401 , Municipiul Feteşti , Illinois , United States
Great Service! My #1 place to go to for music supplies.
Bought mixer and the Employee went out of his way to find some used XLR Cable’s with 1/4 in male ends.
They didn’t have what I wanted.
In my experience this place is great for repairs on amps and stringed instruments. However, I wouldn’t bring a valuable wind instrument to this store. They worked on my pro euphonium once and I was glad it was a simple repair. I’ll never let Jordon touch it again. I’ve also seen some questionable repairs on a friend’s saxophone. Jordon is very good with stringed instruments and amps but I’m not sure he knows about wind instruments beyond basic repairs. To my knowledge, the store does not employ a instrument repair technician with formal education. Nothing against the guy, but he should probably stick to the stringed instruments. It’s a great store, just something to keep in mind. I shop here, just don’t bring my wind instruments
I like Jordon but hes always to busy to get to my stuff needs to hire help
I brought a saxophone in to have cork replaced on the neck. The job was mediocre at best. I redid it myself

I have had my oboe repaired at the Music Shoppe several times over the last few years, and have been very impressed with the work that they have done. As the oboe instructor at Eastern Illinois University and a private lessons teacher, I always encourage my students to get their oboes repaired at the Music Shoppe by Annie Vogel Roberts. An oboist herself, Ms. Roberts will always test the instruments before returning them to her clients, to ensure that they work flawlessly. I highly recommend the repair services at the Music Shoppe!
I was getting my son ready for the ISYM band camp at U of I. I walked in the store, having no idea what I needed. The people were friendly and showed me exactly what was needed. Great place!
Nathan is a top-notch technician. His work is up to the standard of the Schilke shop, for sure.
It’s a good place for renting and buying instruments. They repair and provide loaner instruments.
The Music Shoppe has always provided quality service. We have purchased one instrument from them, but had other instruments serviced. They have knowledgeable staff and I have never been disappointed with any repair or maintenance work they have completed. They bent over backward once to help us in a pinch.
My only complaint is that they are so busy with schools, it is hard to get personal instruments in. (They told me 3 weeks before they could even look at my daughter’s instrument.)
These people are consistently quality professionals. Over the last 5 years I have trusted their service and have not been disappointed.
Last time I came in here I had an employee make fun of me/my instrument because it wasn’t high end (which I knew). Now that I work on my own instruments I know better than to put up with snobby musicians like the one I dealt with here. Three stars because I can’t condemn the entire establishment because of one or two rude employees.
I went to get my clarinet fixed and they tried to up sell me on getting all my pads fixed and thought I was a child and were annoyed I came in the store when I came to pick it up. I will not be using these services again because of the horrible service I received from the workers.
I went in to have my saxophone serviced. The saxophone I play is pretty nice. I mentioned that I played it in marching band and the woman belittled me for playing a nice instrument in marching band. Sorry I don’t have an unlimited supply of saxophones.
Looked at stuff for over 20 minutes without getting attention of any staff members on a very slow day. I literally was carrying a list of items I needed. Prices were way out of line. Selection was slightly better than Guitar Center.
7. Tully’s Shop, Guitar Repair & Customizing
Address: 4N310 Pine Grove Ave, Bensenville, IL 60106 , Municipiul Feteşti , Illinois , United States
I was reluctant to have my Martin 000-15SM worked on, even though there was an increasing buzz going on. It had such a raw, bluesy sound to it. I was afraid that it would lose it’s grit if it was repaired. I guess Tully understood what I meant when I explained what I loved about this instrument because he did a perfect job of setting it up so that now it is still gritty, but also rings like pristine bell. I cannot recommend this guy highly enough. You can always tell when someone does a job they love.
Tullys a great guy, called told him i had a half done project i got stumped on (a Stratocaster), he said “shure bring it in and we can see what i can do.” Left him the parts and said call you in a couple days…. Called me like he said to go pick it up. He even replaced a part for me that originally wasent fitiing, and the guitar looks and plays great. Thanks tully, will bring my guitars to him from now on.
This man used to build Dimebag Darrell’s Washburn guitars. His work as a tech is the best around. Also an amazing Luthier, check out his Skull n’ Crossbones guitar line.
