Fantastic store and service. Have bought two pianos from them the past 15 years . Ask for Nate…he is great!!
We love the piano we bought from Naperville Music. Nate was super helpful and it was a good price. My boys are both taking piano lessons and really like their teacher. Thank you!
I bought a beautiful Yamaha Clavinova from them. Nate was helpful and knowledgeable! The buying process was simple and easy. The guys that delivered my piano were great too. They were prompt and professional!
The aqustic of the show room had some reflections, which made the sound poorer. Sewrvice was reasonable.
Very knowledgeable staff
In these unprecedented times I recommend Sweetwater for all your musical needs. Impeccable customer service! Online service at your fingertips
As soon as the piano teacher looked at me and my daughter the energy was wrong. I maintained a positive attitude…she swung the room door open 5 mins before my daughter’s lesson ended and started talking to me LOUD saying “your daughter is not supposed to be using THIS BOOK”. I kept trying to explain (again) how my daughter had taken a break in her lessons. Ms Allison KEPT cutting me off everytime I tried to speak. She did this after the lesson was over as well. Then, she kept hammering at my daughter telling her how impossible close to difficult it would be to re learn the notes. This lady took 1 look at us and assumed we were ignorant. She chose to be antagonizing instead of being a teacher. I don’t think she’s like this with everyone, picks n chooses. The energy of this place was nothing like this when Tracy works.
I had a very negative experience with this company. This involved serious product misrepresentation in an online transaction (eBay) and major problems trying to resolve the issue. I do not recommend doing business with these people. A little internet research indicated that I am not the only one that has had trouble with Naperville Music.
Terrible service, they purchased an old guitar from me, and refused to let me take the case, we never arranged them getting the case, also the staff is not very enthusiastic. No one seemed like they wanted to be there including me.
3. K R Bachelder & Co Violins
Address: 536 W 5th Ave, Naperville, IL 60563 , Naperville , Illinois , United States
Bachelder Violin is a highly professional and prestigious organization. Linda, owner and Jay, violinist and instrument technician caretaker along with the entire staff are cordial, helpful and experts in their field.
I’ve know Ken since I was 9 or 10 yrs old. Bought several instruments from him and more importantly, he’s fixed many of my violins and repaired a bow broken in half. Flawless work. He’s the best!
Returned rented instrument less than one week into the quarter and they still charged me for an entire quarter. They won’t prorate the unused portion.
I came to Musical Expressions to re-learn the guitar. since I hadn’t played in at least 40 years. I want to have fun and learn some basic musical theory. Preston is my guitar instructor. He is patient and and personable and is the perfect fit for my music educational needs. The staff is professional and very accommodating. Due to a new work schedule, I’ve had to reschedule two of my lessons without any issues. I highly recommend Musical Expressions.
I take drum lessons at Musical Expressions. Hershyl is a great teacher! Always encouraging and motivating. Great place to learn a musical instrument or singing!
They also organize live performances for the students that are interested, it’s a great experience performing live and the audience is always supportive.
My son has been taking classes with Heewon and she has been great so far. He’s really learned a lot and enjoys the lessons. They recently had a spring recital outside and it was a wonderful event to watch and seemed like the kids had a blast participating.
6. Mays Music Centre of Excellence

Great pricing for private lessons, and very professional staff! 10/10
An excellent time was had. Thank you so much for the event and the generosity of the book bags with supplies.
Amazing live performances! Harmony & Soul is a group of talented musicians.
It was a beautiful event. My mom and I had an amazing time when we could hear the people singing. Throughout the concert many times it was difficult to hear the vocalists over the percussion accompanying them. We were very disappointed to not be able to enjoy everyone’s voice or poem but the individuals we could hear were beautiful. Hopefully the problem will corrected for future performances.
7. Purple Dog Records
Address: 231 S Washington St #105, Naperville, IL 60540 , Naperville , Illinois , United States
Very nice people to deal with when selling LPs. Very fair. Well organized albums for sale.
You. Got. To visit. Amazing shop.
I love the store its great that there is a record store in Naperville the owner is really nice. The only complaint that I have is the store is a bit small and the selection is a bit small they should have some new records and music.
Selection was almost none existent. Not ideal for the hardcore collector.
Neighborhood used record store. Good selection
Great record store with lowest prices I’ve seen. Very small but decent selection.
Went in there to buy some vinyl and when I went to pay, the owner wouldn’t honor a coupon I had from a previous visit. He swore at me Infront of my 10 year old brother and ordered us to leave.
the owner is very unfriendly and many of the records are in bad condition. The records they had in stock were bad, and the man who was working there got mad at my brother, and cussed my brother out over wording on a discount card, i’m 10 years old and i can do better buisiness. Don’t go there!
Open noon til 6 Tuesday except not. Annoying

Kimberly Steele has been an amazing find. Last summer my 8 y/o daughter attended a week long music camp at the Naperville Park District which was through Kimberly’s studio. She worked on a song with her and then actually made a recording of my daughter singing that song. She loved the camp and we loved the end product. I immediately signed her up for voice and guitar lessons. My daughter has progressed far more with her music than with her previous studio and I
attribute that to Kimberly herself. She is extremely talented with many years of music experience but also has a wonderful way with the children. A great deal of patience along with a kind spirit.
Lastly yet most heartfelt, she worked with my daughter on a song for her schools Variety Show and volunteered to accompany her on the piano! It was wonderful, I can’t say enough!!
My daughter has been taking lessons with Kim for about a year. Kim is amazingly talented and able to keep students engaged. This is the exact experience any one interested in improving their voice should be looking for! It is money WELL spent!
Kimberly Steele Studios is like no other in the area! Whenever special direction on music lessons was requested, Kimberly Steele has always been able to respond above and beyond our expectations. Thanks to having a recording studio and music theory know-how, there is nothing this music lesson’s studio cannot provide to the interested student. Any motivated student is sure to succeed in this nurturing and extremely knowledgable environment. My whole family feels very fortunate to have been told about Kimberly Steele Studio.
10. School of Rock
Address: 220 N Washington St, Naperville, IL 60540 , Naperville , Illinois , United States
Nothing short of amazing…SoR has an amazing staff from the front desk fella, rocking manager, phenomenal owner, to the beyond talented instructors. My son takes keyboard and guitar lessons at SoR and LOVES it. I never have to beg him to practice like I did with his regular piano lessons. His teacher is a bonafide star (Adam Krier of LBC and AM Taxi) with so much talent, musical wisdom, and a cool factor that motivates my son more so than any other teacher he has ever had. The instructors are real life rock stars with hearts of gold who will motivate and inspire your budding musicians. Run don’t walk to sign-up for lessons, camp, or the performance program. The kids get to perform for large audiences on stage at real venues with their band. Invaluable experiences abound!
School of Rock Naperville is so great on so many levels. Instructors are top notch and really really care about their students. They meet them at their current skill level but encourage and teach to help them grow and develop along the way. They create such an awesome, team-oriented atmosphere where instructors and band-mates alike are each other’s biggest fans and live out immense support and encouragement for one another. If you’re looking for a great music-learning experience, I would totally recommend SOR. An awesome experience.
I, Levi Hansen in 2 months will be celebrating my 1-year anniversary at SoR Naperville. I first came here at the “Open House” and to be honest I thought I wasn’t going to like it, In fact, I thought I was going to hate it. Then I met Joanna, who works at SoR, She gave me a tour and I went home very happy and ready for the Legendary “Rock 101.” The first practice was awesome, everyone was nice and it was a wonderful experience. A week after that I started taking drum lessons, My teacher was very nice, and he taught me the simple basics, and now I am able to play through “Hot For Teacher” without stopping.
My point is that SoR provides a wonderful experience of creativity, learning, and best of all confidence. Trust me, you will love SoR Naperville, or just any SoR there is.
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!
The Chitwood Family
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.
11. Edge Music Academy
Address: 32 Foxcroft Rd Suite 112, Naperville, IL 60565 , Naperville , Illinois , United States
Jason does an amazing job. We have seen great improvement in my son’s piano skills. I would highly recommend him.
Mr. Jason is so patient and a wonderful piano teacher to our 6 year old. In just a few months my son has learned so much already!
Jason has been teaching our kids for over a year and we are so happy with all of their progress. We have a 9 year old who plays guitar and an 8 year old and 6 year old that play piano. Jason’s ability to teach while keeping things fun and motivating is so important when working with young kids. We cannot recommend him enough!
There are not enough stars to rate how amazing this class has been for our son. Claire is well versed in music, but yet so patient and loving. A perfect mix for an amazing music program. It’s nit just singing pretty songs and just another class to keep our children occupied. It’s taking huge leeps forward for children to prepare for any avenue of music they choose later on. As we are finishing our first year in this program I am so excited to see what my son will accomplish in the future because he will far more ready than any of my other kids.
This has been our first experience with Let’s Play Music classes. We love Mrs. Claire! Not only does she make the classes fun and interactive but she does it in such a warm and engaging way. My children are developing their early musical skills and sing or hum the songs from the week while playing or coloring at home. We rave about this class and are so glad we found Claire!
My son loves music class with Mrs. Claire! He learns so much in class and sings the songs throughout the week. I love that he experiments playing with various instruments in class and is developing a great musical foundation.

Just recently started playing guitar at tender age of 34 and have been in guitar center a few times so far and can definitely say this one in Aurora is severely understaffed and they always seem to be busy. With that being said one of the strings on my acoustic guitars popped off and I had to go in on a Saturday dreading how packed this place would be and of course I walk in and no one is at the register, and as I’m waiting for 5min I notice MIKE at the repair center working. I walk my guitar over to him and explain my situation and that I had a warranty. He politely told me the warranty doesn’t cover strings and then offered to fix it for me anyway right then and there. I was flabbergasted at how quickly He did this and was very happy because I didn’t know what the process was but figured I would be in the store for awhile, because of Mike that wasn’t the case. Huge shoutout to Mike for helping me so quickly!
Good customer service
For anyone in need of outstanding guitar repair work ask for Cory. He is a meticulous craftsman and I could not be more pleased with the stellar job he did on my 15 year old Martin acoustic guitar. Cory is honest, he works efficiently, he keeps an open line of communication and his fees are more than fair. He did a partial refret, leveled and polished the frets that were salvageable, cleaned my instrument up beautifully and put some nice new strings on. It sounds better than ever!
Over the years, I’ve had several major repairs done on this particular Martin guitar. The whole instrument has needed to be rebuilt twice; first after falling off a bed onto a hardwood floor and second after being crushed in an overhead luggage compartment by an inconsiderate passenger. It’s been in for repairs and maintenance at least 10 times since I bought it thus I have ample experience dealing with guitar repair techs. Cory has done the best work to date of any repair technician and overall I had the most positive experience. Almost one year ago to the day, I brought my guitar into a ma and pop guitar repair shop for a restringing and to have the action tightened up. They kept it for 2 months, charged me an outrageous sum, and returned it in worse condition than when it arrived. The point is, if you really care about your guitar be sure to bring it somewhere you can trust. So if you’re in the area and need work done, look no further then Cory at the guitar center in Naperville. He will take care of you!
The store has plenty of good stuff but I just didn’t get much help offered, even after asking for it. I just left.
Good selection and helpful staff.
Helpful staff
After a few years of shopping here and seeing that the staff has always been so nice and welcoming, I would of never thought that the store manager would do what he did today. My son (15) who plays the guitar, has me drive him all the way across town to this location to purchase his strings and has purchased a couple of instruments here as well. Him being 15 is able to walk in the store by himself while I wait in the parking lot, to grab his strings, pay and go! Today he was taking too long so I called, he stated the store manager was refusing to sell him the strings and was accusing him of shop lifting. When I walked in the store I asked the manager if we could go somewhere in private to talk, he pulled his phone out to show me proof that Francisco which is not my son’s name along with a couple other kids, were opening packages in the acoustic room. He shows me pictures of 2 minors that I did not recognize, I said where is the proof that my son is shoplifting? He could not show me a single picture or video of my son doing anything wrong. I find it very unprofessional, that him being a manager decided to interrogate a minor and decided to accuse him directly without a parent being present and without proof. He stated he was warning my son, warning him for what? I offered to call the police myself, and he said it was not necessary, why not? If you said he is shoplifting by all means have him arrested, because I as a parent do not condone that behavior! Very upsetting experience as both my son and I work hard to be able to make the money to purchase from this store, that was not the right way to treat my son, extremely disappointed!
Terrible service. Not once was I asked if I needed help finding a guitar. I was here for 40 minutes trying to get their attention but they preferred to help the blonde lady and acted as if I was a ghost
I went in to sell my guitar and after 1.5 hours the only thi.g they did was break my battery connector. I told them what I needed and showed them I had an offer already. They kept me there and finally offered me less than my other offer. The offer was 250 and asked me to pay to fix the problem that they caused. They had the same one on their site for 600. How much do they need to make?

The employees are very hospitable and knowledgeable
Muy bueno, la tienda los Maestros y ver especialmente a muchos niños jóvenes con su instrumento musical, para aprender nos motiva como Papás que ellos logren mejores oportunidades y experiencias.
Great place with very friendly staff members. They’re always willing to help. I used them for instrument rental for a couple of my kids.
Good
Very friendly and welcoming place. Had an issue with a repair but they corrected the problem. Took more than stop to resolve the issue, so 4 out 5 stars. Would still recommend and will continue to shop here.
18. Hix Bros Music
Address: 1811 High Grove Ln # 275, Naperville, IL 60540 , Naperville , Illinois , United States
Took in an old guitar for a set up. They did a wonderful job with amazing attention to detail. In addition to sounding and playing like new, they also cleaned and polished it to a high mirror shine! Oh, and they even replaced the missing plastic tip on the pickup selector switch. Such a nice touch! Highly recommended!
I’ve bought all of my instruments from Hix Bros. and I wouldn’t take my business else where! Friendly and great atmosphere!
its chill
Meh.. an ok store… closed to early though..
Great selection of acoustic guitars, and they have ukelele meetups and also offer band instruments such as flute and saxophone. Sound equipment and drum equipment are also available, but I really feel like their strong suit is the acoustic guitars. There’s an extensive collection of tab and sheet music books that span genres, as well.
I purchased a used guitar from them a few months ago and it’s been really exciting to start learning.
Generally a good local music store with friendly staff and limited equipment (it is a family owned business). I’ve gone there because it’s convenient and close and I can usually get what I need.
HOWEVER, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TAKING A GUITAR THERE FOR REPAIRS/TECH-WORK. The communication was poor. No estimate. Just a final charge which was high, in my opinion. When trying to solve the problem, the tech was unavailable. But, the owner, Karl and I did come to a compromise.
I wish I would have read the other reviews because, apparently, I’m not the only person who has had issues with their tech. Be warned!
That aside, it’s a fine music store with friendly people.
I initially had a positive experience with this store when I got my guitar set up. It wasn’t purchased there, but they did the setup and re-string for a reasonable price. When I got my guitar back, the guitar had it’s strap on it, but when I got it back later that day, it wasn’t there. I didn’t play it for a couple days after so I didn’t notice it, but when I went to play it – no strap. Not a big deal, I’ll just call them and have them put it at the front desk for me. However, when I called back, they said they can’t find it, told me to check the bag. Checked it again (obviously checked there first when I realized it wasn’t on the guitar) and not there. I call them back to let them know it’s not there, and they accuse me of losing the strap. First of all, I know it’s a pain in the ass to take on and off (new strap, stiff leather) so I would have known if I had taken it off the guitar. Second, there’s no apology for losing said strap, and the guy even has the balls to tell me they didn’t lose it but he guesses he could buy me a new one if that’s what I’m looking for…
I’m not looking for a freaking hand out, just admit you lost the strap and you’d be happy to replace it. That simple. Sorry, but if you can’t handle a customer’s possessions properly, and then can’t admit when you messed up, I can find somewhere else to spend my money.
I made the mistake of attempting to replace my own pickups. It did NOT go well. Brought my guitar in, they fixed the mess I made, replaced the nut of my guitar as well as a top notch set up. Highly recommend.
Great local music store. The have a big selection of guitars, bass, drums, accessories and all sorts off lessons. And their instructors are really good with younger kids.
The staff is very friendly & helpful.
Quality piano lessons and excellent customer service
Awesome place to buy your guitars and music equipment staff is very friendly and knowledgeable
After politely declining their laughably low offer to buy my trombone, the sales associate became unfriendly and demanded that I give him a counter offer. The poor customer service and the dismal offer to buy my trombone were very surprising to me; I was expecting far more from a business with so many positive reviews.
