This place never let’s me down. From rentals to new stuff they always have what we need. Looking at a Fender for my daughter, really nice and a better price than I expected.
I went into this place for the first time this week. I ended up purchasing a Washburn guitar because of the affordability (I’m a beginner) and I’m pleasantly surprised at how good it sounds. I went back in a few days later to purchase a ukulele for my daughter and they have the most beautiful selection of ukuleles! I got one of the higher end ones since she already knows how to play. She will receive it at Christmas. The shop owner is super helpful and a really nice guy all around. I’ll be back in to purchase another guitar once I’ve gotten some practice on this one 🙂
I like this place. I’m a hack guitar player but this guy has everything I need and then some. Prices are decent, owner is knowledgeable. Good placw.
They could stand to carry a lot more music.
Very complete music store..!! Not only with the Instruments they sell, but with accessories and sheet music. Complete line of instruments and very knowledgeable staff…
Prices are very close to online e.g. amazon.
Oldest guy there was being very rude and threw an the amp cord that i was using while testing a guitar on the ground
3. Arizona Music Pro
Address: 122 E Rte 66, Flagstaff, AZ 86001 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
Neil was super helpful and timely, quick repair on a short notice and does great work for a great price. Highly recommended!
Neil was amazing and professional. He helped tune our daughter’s violin, and answer any questions we had about helping our beginner violinist. He also showed us how to help her tune it and to keep it in tune. Great service!
Jack and Logan helped me today and they were very nice. They gave me a good deal on what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend this store!
This shop has a wide variety of instruments, and some beautiful violins that I was able to try out. The staff is very friendly and helpful there, and the shop is organized, clean, and spacious. Now to save up for that violin!
I’ve been in this store many times. Sometimes I found what I was looking for and some not. But I have never been treated with anything but concern for what I needed. “Just a suggestion to all folks that don’t like the way people look at them. Take a look in the mirror at what they see.”
Thank you Neil!! This guy totally hooked up the hardware. Then actually took the time to explain to me, how to do it myself. Quality merch and inspiring customer service.
Try Facebook marketplace or anywhere else. This place will rip you off. Plus they aren’t very polite and won’t let you play their instruments if they don’t think you Look like you can afford it.
Just bought a ukelele from here with apparent buzzing after you play for a while. When going to see if it could be fixed or trade in, the manager looked at it and played it, and pretended he couldn’t hear the loud buzzing. While other customers in the store also said they could hear the obvious loud buzzing. And responded with “it sounds like a ukulele buddy” in a condescending tone. I’ve purchased multiple instruments from here with good service from the people, but I will no longer give a single penny to the store after this rude interaction of being sold a faulty instrument and then being talked to as if I was too unintelligent to understand the sound.
Not the greatest selection, and the workers didn’t seem to care that we were even there. Played on some of the instruments a bit, but nobody offered help or advice or anything. They seemed to be out of stock on quite a few items I asked about – but they were “getting some in next week”. OK, sure.
4. Juggernaut Music
Address: 308 E ROUTE 66 (Across The Street From Gallup Train Station), E Hwy 66, Gallup, NM 87301 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
Ernie is always Super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for any music needs. Plus he does piercings and tattoos.
One of the best venues that I have been to! Cant wait to come back. There is a tattoo shop inside the venue and I got an amazing tattoo after my bands set. I would highly recommend anyone in the area to check this place out!
Strange Night gave me happiness for a few hours
Nice place n helpful staff
Nice friendly place.
Bought tickets online had flyer and ticket showing doors open at 630 walk in and am told doors dont open until 730. Will see how band is
I want to go visit to buy equipment for a recording studio.
The rudest people I have ever met. My partner and I were leaving to go to a movie and the guy that works there kept challenging my partner to prove he can play. And then proceeded to verbally harass us as we were leaving. He continued throwing out rude comments. Seriously do not go here, worst people ever!
5. Sacred Rites
Address: N San Francisco St, Flagstaff, AZ 86001 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
If you’re anywhere near the area, this is an absolute must visit. A truly unique shop and experience.
The store has a variety of unusual and hard to find musical instruments, the origins of which come from all over the world. One instrument in particular, the monochord, really calls to the soul when played. The Sacred Rites monochord comes in 3 sizes — a hand-held instrument, a chair and a bed. The owner is very knowledgeable and does sound healing treatments using these amazing instruments. The store has a great vibe and is a destination in and of itself in historic downtown Flagstaff.
Kelly is great! We enjoy chatting with him and stopping to play with his various instruments. It’s a fabulous way to get to try something before you buy it to make sure it speaks to you. He has high quality choices that are fairly priced.
Unusual instruments
6. John’s Corner Music Shop
Address: 8680 AZ-69, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
Great service, great owners! Cheapest guitar setups in towns. Not like other places around here that change $80 or more, just to make a few quick adjustments, and call it a day.
I have had the greatest experience,Chris has met all my expectations I surly recommended I had the most enjoyable experience. Thanks John corner music appreciated.
This is a great little music shop. They are reasonably priced and just great people to be around. We appreciate the advice and help that they have provided, and we love how they treat every customer as a friend.
Low quality gear that is way over priced.
wouldn’t give it even one star! I just went in to grab some guitar strings and was never once acknowledged the whole time I was there. Not even a greeting. needless to say I walked out. Not sure what the deal is in this town but I have yet to encounter any sort of professionalism with the businesses here!!!
7. Tech and Tunes
Address: 689 N Main St APT A, Cottonwood, AZ 86326 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
Russell, the owner of PV music, was beyond helpful. I called at 4:00PM on the dot as they were closing and he had mentioned he wasn’t there but if I needed something he would come from home and assist my needs. And that he did, not only did he meet me at the store 30 minutes after closing, he sold me a brand new item for $100 cheaper than they go for online. I could literally sell it for more than I paid if I really wanted to. Great store, great selection of items, and most of all great ownership and staff. 10/10 would recommend PV Music to anyone. And thank you again, Russell!
Great service and affordable!
For several months, I’ve been looking for a Steinberger synapse bass guitar strap extender. They had one, I snagged it. Shipped out immediately. I’m very grateful.
I stopped by Prescott Valley Music looking for someone to repair my flute. Even though they specialize in guitar repair, he fixed my flute within minutes at no charge. I will definitely go back with my guitar needs.
Went there with a friend.
Don’t buy vinyl from them
I think all they sell is USED. Even patch cords. 🙁 Totally disgusting and disappointed.
Sadly, and most regrettably, I must report that Russell, the proprietor of PVM, used his prior good business standing to consign, endorse, solicit, directly accept partial payment for, a fraudulently, utterly misrepresented $3k instrument, that is so INTENTIONALLY damaged (a 40” gong, sawn into THREE parts, then poorly soldered back together) that it is basically rendered useless as a musical instrument. He also personally/professionally arranged for its delivery and attested to the instrument’s ‘excellent’ condition (all in email and voicemails, still retained as evidence).
Initially responsive, and seemingly aghast, he and the seller he worked with, and as agent for, now decline to correspond or address this, each saying neither or the other is responsible.
A $3k scam?????
BEWARE!!
9. The Blue Note
Address: 3250 Gateway Blvd #262, Prescott, AZ 86303 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
It was awesome. There are historical guitars there he made. Alice Cooper’s guitarist he made a rifle guitar. Lots of get products and instruments. Diffently a place to go visit in Prescott.
Hands down the best place to go. I live down in the valley but every time we visit the area we stop by. If you need anything guitar related you have to go here. Every other store said my guitar was unplayable and impossible to fix. I bought it here and he made it play better than when it was new. The prices are just barely higher than places like guitar center but he does a free setup on every instrument that would cost about a hundred dollars anywhere else. The owner is very friendly and is happy to tell you everything you could possibly know about any instrument at the store. He is extremely good at what he does and has even made guitars for people like Alice Cooper and David Bowie. Just the perfect place to buy or look for an instrument. I will never take my guitars anywhere else.
Purchased a yukale there. Great store good service. Do you have a guitar that needs repair?
The owner is a pretty cool guy. Very knowledgeable on everything in the store. He has also made guitars for some of the biggest names in music history.
Listed as open on Monday. Drove from Spring Valley to find them closed. Need to correct this.
The owner of this establishment is beyond rude, he didn’t answer any questions (which I believe is because he has 0 knowledge of anything pertaining to his little business) and he over prices everything. I understand it’s a local business so prices will be higher but his USED banged up instruments are at least 70% higher than anywhere else for the same NEW instruments which is unreasonable.
I’ll be shopping at a honest local music shop.
Thank You
10. Local Boy Recording Studios
Address: 4260-4262 Cactus Loop, Tuba City, AZ 86045 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
As someone who hates sand more than almost anything else in this world, I was admittedly skeptical when I heard about the Sandy Music concept at Local Boy Recording Studios. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the beachy vibes and talented musicians more than made up for any gritty discomfort.
I do wish they had bathroom sand cleaner though, as I had to spend an uncomfortable amount of time trying to get the sand off my shoes and out of my clothes. But even with that minor inconvenience, I still had an incredible time at Local Boy Recording Studios.
Overall, I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a unique recording experience with a relaxed, beachy atmosphere. Just be prepared to deal with a little bit of sand.
T.H.
Didn’t find it
11. Music Masters
Address: 6990 E Shea Blvd Suite 110, Scottsdale, AZ 85254 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
I can’t say enough of what a great experience it was going to Music Masters. I knew I couldn’t order an acoustic guitar without physically looking at it. So instead of going onto Amazon to buy one, I googled music stores with my zip code. Music Master pulled up and with the great reviews, I had to call. When I called on Tuesday evening to inquire if they had any in stock, they quickly checked for me and said come on over to pick it up. All I can say is that they have amazing customer service and everyone was very helpful. By the way, my son absolutely loved his beginner guitar!
Very helpful staff.
Got guitar and keyboards. Good service.
Nice music shop. Looking into violin refresher lessons.
I’ve visited the store several times while shopping for a cello. The selection is limited, but they have more on the website you can order from. The staff have always been patient with my many questions as well as willing to go to any lengths to find in-depth answers on finishes, woods and construction. I’d recommend them.
12. Milano Music
Address: 38 W Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
Milano is the premier music shop in the east valley. Great selection and prices but best of all, a truly professional staff. They know instruments and don’t try to oversell you.
Very friendly, competent and helpful.
Awesome guitar shop
Good selection on instuments but can be pricey.
I like dealing with Milano music…they are very helpful and have very competent staff..
The employees are friendly and attentive. They are also knowledgeable and willing to explain the differences and history of each brand.
Never again
The cost to rent a clarinet was $200 for the school year. You can buy one NEW on Amazon for $100. I brought the instrument back 1 hour after rental and they still charged me for the month. Used to hear great things about this place.
The guy who is the guitar person there doesn’t know anything about Japanese guitars, doesn’t use whammy bars and doesn’t even understand a Floyd rose.
How exactly is this place so highly rated again?
13. Daniel’s Guitar And Coin Shop
Address: 605 White Spar Rd, Prescott, AZ 86303 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
Dropped my guitar while playing and it landed on the cable plugged into the jack which bent both the cable and the receptacle inside the guitar. Figuring I’d have to drop it off for a couple of days, made due for worship service at church to take it in Monday. To my much appreciated surprise, Daniel fixed it in 10 minutes and at a great price. As his slogan says, “he’s my guitar guy” from now on.
Highly recommend.
Great job on setting up my acoustics
He setup my new Tele and did an awesome job. He has set up all my guitars.
14. The Music Store
Address: 2630 W Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
JP as well as the rest of the staff are awesome. Lessons for the kids and me, music, instruments to rent, as well as friendships formed over the years. Staff members that stand out of course are Fig and Cory…love those guys as well as everyone there. Hopefully you are all doing well.
Came here to rent an instrument. Everyone was very friendly and I was walked through the entire renting process as it was my first time. For anyone looking to rent an instrument I would recommend coming here.
Im a complete beginner musically and I just came here to buy my first ever Ukulele. JP and was so happy to help and told me everything I needed to know as a beginner. I am so happy with my purchase! thank you
Fui una vez a ver las guitars
Great verify of sheet music and ukuleles and an awesome luthier.
The instruments we have rental have been pretty worn but still work well and it is an OK deal for the price. Customer service is helpful and friendly. We have been pleased with our violin rental over this past year and will continue renting here into the next school year.
Absolutely the worst service I’ve ever had, 3 people working and not one of them tried to help me whatsoever and 2 of them didn’t even acknowledge I was in the store! Very poor service
“Jp” the owner looked right at me and said “no” to giving me a 10% teacher discount for an $11 red label string. Thanks bud.
I have been coming to this music store for years since I was a child. I know that their prices are higher than ordering online, but I’ve still paid their higher prices to support them. Today I came in with a question about how to get a simple cleaning rag, which was stuck, out of an instrument. The guy behind the counter was extremely rude did not answer any of my questions, told me that no one in the entire store had any experience with this sort of question. Sorry to say, but I will not be giving my business to the store any longer. I would recommend milano’s music, or ordering online.
15. Brindley’s Music Center
Address: 836 N Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85225 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
I discovered Brindleys Music Center when I decided to take up music lessons and the class just happened to be located there. The staff and Instructors are professional, friendly and highly knowledgeable and helpful. This stood out to me being a new student and made me feel very welcome. In addition, the selection of instruments and reference material were of a higher quality (than a music chain store) and affordable. This is a family owned business and they have been in Chandler for decades. I feel it’s important to support small businesses but not just because they are small but because the customer service they provide is exceptional and they are experts in their field. I highly recommend them for all your music needs!
I’ve been very satisfied with their woodwind repair and service. Would definitely consider buying from them if I needed something as well. Love that it’s a local, family business and Bruce’s last name is on the building.
Absolutely the best customer service. Glad to see this local music store, which has been a staple in chandler, managed to not only survive, but remain open during the shutdowns last year. Will always support and bring my business for all my music needs to Bruce at Brindley’s Music Center.
It was very awesome service but milanos was cheaper books were 8.00 and care kits were10.00 and at brindleys it was almost 16.00 and for book it was 10
Fix it for the most part. Still feels as if the instrument is leaking from somewhere on the lower register. Still hard to push low notes without struggle.
Good music store for those looking for something specific…not much to look at for those who want to look around or window shop (especially for drum equip). Other than that, it’s a good local music shop. They used to make their own brand of drumsticks, which were GREAT, but last time I went they said they no longer make them. Bummer!
I went here to have a new nut out on an old guitar of mine. The nut is cut too short making the strings buzz. Now I am left fixing it myself which sucks since I paid almost $60 to have it fixed.
Beware DO NOT RENT from them. They lied about insurance. They RENT beat up instruments then make you pay to fix them. Was told it would be $20 per repair then at register charged $25 per repair. Will never go back. Take my advise and take your business elsewhere
Expensive and poor service. took my beautiful holton Bb trumpet their to have the 2nd valve slide replaced. it is a standard mass produced turmpet, ans WAS worth about $650. it was beautiful with a sparkeling finish. they lost my order and it took 3 weeks when I called them to inquire about it. i was told $40 to fix the slide (found out later that part only cost $15) and it would take a week. they chem washed it, wich i said to not do and it RUINED my trumpet. it looks like crap, their is 3 dents in my bell where their weren’t any before and after i called at the 3 week point it still took another 2 for them to get around to fixing it. in the end, they ruined my finish, put the wroung part on, and dented my trumpet multiple times. O AND they expected me to pay $85 for it all. they chem washed it because they forgot to write down the repair needed and assumed it was a was, and they charged me for their mistake. Good at smooth talking but anyone can seem like they know what their saying. they were horrabile and unless you want to over pay and have your instrument ruined, dont go here. o and my sisted paid $1000 for a flute which was “new”…the saudering from when it was returned to them from the last owner broke in about a week and they repaired it wroung 3 times before they got it right where it broke again 3 days later.
16. Black Mountain Guitar Co
Address: 6220 E Cave Creek Rd, Cave Creek, AZ 85331 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
Paul is a pleasure to know and do business with. A truly exceptional place to visit and enjoy. I’ve bought three guitars from Paul — all acoustics — and have had no regrets whatsoever with any of the purchases. Treat yourself to something and someone authentic if you are anywhere in the Phoenix area.
Great service. Very reasonable. Highly recommend.
I’m fairly new to Arizona and went to Black Mountain Guitar Co. for the first time last night. Ed, the owner was gracious, knowledgeable, and fun to talk music with. Excellent selection of amps and guitars and Ed let me try a variety of gear. Great and friendly vibe from this locally owned store in a cool location. I’ve played music professionally for all of my adult life and this place is great for pros and beginners alike. It’s definitely going to be a “go to” shop for me, and I encourage anyone who has an interest in guitars, ukulele’s, etc. to check out Black Mountain Guitar Co.!
Guitar shop that sells some brands like Collins, Groover Jackson Guitars, Paul Reed Smith and Fender.
They know their stuff. Good selection of used merchandise. Rustic building.
First time there and 50 miles from where I live but got a strong referral. Interesting selection of amps and guitars from a small modest shop. Owner was very accommodating and offered a great deal on what I was considering. Will likely go back and get serious!
There were some cool guitars but not worth going there just to look around at what they have. You must have to order things to this place maybe? In which case, I’ll order it to my house. Not sure if it’s always like this, but it was an absolute mess when we went there and smelled horrific of smoke and dust.
17. Monty’s Music
Address: 4845 E Greenway Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
In operation at the same location now for the better part of three decades, Monty stays in business through an expert knowledge of his field, a genuine interest in his clients, and the right selection (if not the biggest) of instruments and accessories. It comes through in talking to Monty that he loves what he does. I visited Monty’s as a kid when I first started playing guitar, now I take my teenage daughter there for her strings and for advice. Lessons offered on premises. Love to support a quality locally owned and operated business in the community.
I have been going into Monty’s Music since our kids were in grade school (20+ years). We would get the needed recorder for elementary school, small items. Monty’s always had what was needed.
First, Monty’s Music is a small, local mom & pop style business. It is not a big retail outlet like Guitar Center. Monty’s has personality and service that the big guys are missing.
About 18 months ago, my wife gave me a guitar and prepaid lessons from Monty’s. What I have found since that time is that Monty is truly one of the nicest individuals I know and clearly his passion is music. You can pull up a chair a just talk to Monty about music, instruments etc., and he will spend quality time with you. When was the last time you did that at a big retailer?
It is not just all about if I can save a dollar here or there, it is customer service and how I am treated. I have gone into some of the big retailers (Guitar Center for example), sure they have a huge inventory of instruments to consider, but the knowledge the employees have is lacking or flat out missing and I don’t want to get into the lack of customer service at these places. With that in mind, I would rather support a local business than a big chain retailer anyway.
Regardless, Monty’s may not have a large selection on hand, but he will do his best to get you what you need and provide you with his knowledge on a personal basis. It is for this reason that I have now purchased 4 guitars from Monty’s Music (and taking guitar & piano lessons).
I would recommend that you give Monty’s a try, pull up a chair and talk to Monty!
They don’t close at 6. The sign says 6ish. Literally. That means before 5:45 anyway.
I love these guys, but just close at 5 or whatever. 6ish isnt helpful at all.
I have NEVER encountered such a rude owner. I will never go here again.
If you are a novice on what equipment you may need, I would stay clear of Monty’s. When I started looking for a practice amp I was not familiar with what options made the most sense. I told Monty I wanted good value for the price, something with good quality and reputation, as I was taking up learning the electric guitar at the age of 58. There were many brands and options in his store at the time in the $300 range, some I was familiar with and many I wasn’t. (Fender, Ashdown, Ampeg) He steered me towards one I had never heard of but said they were a very good quality and a good company for the money. Now that I no longer need a guitar amp, never did learn how to play, I can’t sell it. I can find no resale history or other ads at all online. I am stuck with a turkey now.
Awesome Store!!! Great selection of shirts and music. There’s a Barber downstairs if you’re in need of a haircut. And once a month you can get a Tattoo!!!
Huge fan of Puscifer. Maybe I expected too much. I was hoping for a vaccum to suck me into local art, local music, local culture, a place that puts a spotlight on similar bands and influences. Instead its just filled with expensive chachkies, geegaws, and trinkets. The novalty wore off real quick.
This place was awesome. A little quirky, but has a decent record collection (has a small hip hop section), a pretty good bar (the cider is delicious), and even a barber shop. There is a lot of visible cursing, so maybe not a great place to bring kids, if you are offended by that.
“My visit was short cuz I just couldn’t feel that blonde chick following me around acting like I’m there to steal” was just kind of an awkward and strange experience but the barber seemed cool!
New puscifer T’s are sweet stoked for the new album!!
Management has serous anger issues .
We were so excited to be able to come to the store,
We dedicated a whole day to bring our family being such big fans of Maynard’s music. We traveled from Albuquerque NM. Upon walking in there was no greeting just off-putting glares. The way the man at the counter staring at us while looking around was uncomfortable, felt like he thought we were going to steal. In result of that I and my family refrained from touching anything. We went to the lower level and it was a little better. One of the ladies down there had a welcoming presence while the other had an attitude as if she was bothered we were there. We planned to purchase 2 Cds, a sweater, a couple t shirts and a $200 signed poster. Before paying the man at the counter rudely demanded my husband put on a mask because of a couple coughs he let out. After already feeling the negative vibes and the rude demand we left without spending a dime. Would like to think our brown skin had nothing to do with it but the treatment of the all white staff was unbelievable. I grew up and was raised in the area and never experienced anything like this. Will not be returning or will give this store a 2nd chance.
Store I give 5 stars, really cool atmosphere, unique, well thought out, I was really impressed. Staff I give 0 stars. Honestly they are the most pretentious group of wannabe’s I’ve ever met. Snotty, rude, acted like we don’t belong there and was followed around the store. Not to be helped but to be watched. I’m in my 40’s and there to shop for a friend because I was passing though town, not to shoplift. These entitled little kids act like they’re in the band or something, they’re everything opposite of what I’d expect from an employee of Maynards. They should send some mystery shoppers in to see how their staff treat customers. I’m sure they’ll all be working at the Cottonwood Walmart soon enough. Funny thing is the wine bar a couple doors down was equally as awesome and the bartender was amazing! Chatted with us for 10 minutes while we looked around fully knowing we were just in there until the Puscifer store opened.
20. De-No Music Center
Address: 801 E Florence Blvd # B, Casa Grande, AZ 85122 , Navajo County , Arizona , United States
Very helpful. They are very well informed on what new music students needs are.
Item met my needs.
Cool informative people there. Ready to answer your questions
Allways an excellent job on my guitars that I have taken in to have work done! Friendly and knowledgeable service !
Best music shop.
Nice selection of acoustic guitars
I’ve been there quite a few times before. As a child the owner was alright but somehow he just became rude after a while. There was a time when I was 19(9 years ago) and there was an 800 dollar Jackson on the wall that I really wanted. I brought $850 dollars with me and jammed out on it for about 5 minutes, the owner came up to me and said “If you put one scratch on this I’m going to make you pay for it, do you understand?” I know I look young and I looked about 15 at the time but there have been several times(like yesterday{let me play for 4 minutes and told my party to leave when I wanted to buy a practice amp}) that I brought money in to make a purchase of over 300 dollars and he makes me uncomfortable or says something rude. If you need a reed, or if you need a rental, this is a good place. If you’re a musician, and you want to try stuff out, drive 40 minutes, the owner has been rude to me for 15 years. I swear he hates musicians.
Came in for guitar picks and strings and was thinking of buying an acoustic guitar on the wall. I asked if I could play it he said “yes”. I played a couple chords and got kicked out for playing it to “hard”.
Went to buy a guitar but no assistance from the clerk was offered and large sign indicated you can’t touch them without assistance so we left. Makes it difficult to make a purchase. To be fair the clerk was waiting on another customer but just continued to ignore us and didn’t even bother to say “hello” when we entered the store. Not much available there in the way of instruments unless you need used amps, guitar stands, cheap guitars, or ukuleles.
