The guys that work there are very helpful. They have an awesome selection of guitars too. Highly recommend going here!!
Derrick was really helpful and gave great advice! Thanks for the positive experience.
Great store . Mattoon is very lucky to have such a store. GREAT EMPLOYEES, INSTRUCTORS AND OF COURSE THE OWNER!!!
In the late 90s early 2000’s this was an awesome store. Used CD’s, Ppl who loved to talk about old bands and music culture, It was different. Mind you, they still have great instrument selection, and fair prices for a small business. Some staff is decent, some have the personality of a week old gym sock. I’d say if your local, pick up your kids first instrument there and support local small business. Idk if the lead dude from x-crush still works there, but he was awesome. but it’s a lottery.
I remember your Christmas store at the Mall always used to eye the Bass in the box and now i am playing that a Jazz Bass i bought i am now in Tennessee so thanks for helping with my dreams
Love going there and stuff but idk if it was one of the employees or just a customer, but this older guy walked up to me and my friend and made a really rude comment about our colored hair “did you wake up late at a party or something?” How the actual heck would anyone think that is an ok thing to say?????
That was one of my favorite music stores to go to and now I’m not so sure, if it were an employee who sayid that. I’m pretty sure it was because he walked to the back after that. If you have colored hair and you take hate comments too seriously, be careful.
So you want to call on the dude behind me in line and not even greet me or tell me to have a nice day? Poor way to run a business. The old white guy at the front is rude and inconsiderate. He chose to serve the man behind me in line, likely because I’m a woman, so congrats on losing not only my 42$ purchase I got refunded today; but all future purchases from my multi instrumentalist husband that has been a customer here for over 6 years. I’ll buy from Amazon before giving my money to rude old men. Do better. Hope it was worth it for that dudes 12 dollars worth of strings.
My family came in just a few minutes ago and they were very ride to us. My boyfriend, who is normally a very strong person, just walked out of this place in tears because they made him feel embarrassed. Smh. Rude rude employees who act like musical elites.

Very good guitar instructors nice and helpful owner, stop in and check out their guitars and accessories
Have bought accessories and have had tech/set up work done here. Owner’s always been nice, and even cuts ya the occasional break on the price. Definitely recommend.
One of only two places that I know of in Effingham to purchase guitars and sound equipment. Even though the shop is small, they have a lot of quality guitars at reasonable prices. I was also impressed with the ukulele selection, an instrument that is becoming more and more popular. They also have some sound equipment and sound accessories at decent prices for performing musicians. If you are in need of anything for your guitar, this place is worth a visit.
Great little shop top notch ownership.
Have been coming here for five years and spent thousands of dollars in this store. The owner has never acted like he recognized me or knew my name. Today in the store he falsely accused me of scratching a guitar in the shop, and told me I was lucky he “didn’t shake me down for money.” The guitars in the shop are high quality, but I am never bringing my business back here.

Best music store around and great service after the sale. Highly recommended!
Glad I was told about this place. Great people. Great service. Jordan is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of sound and eletronics. This will be my go to place for any of my guitar or amp repairs or upgrades. Just by talking to him, I could tell he knew his stuff.
Great Service! My #1 place to go to for music supplies.
In my experience this place is great for repairs on amps and stringed instruments. However, I wouldn’t bring a valuable wind instrument to this store. They worked on my pro euphonium once and I was glad it was a simple repair. I’ll never let Jordon touch it again. I’ve also seen some questionable repairs on a friend’s saxophone. Jordon is very good with stringed instruments and amps but I’m not sure he knows about wind instruments beyond basic repairs. To my knowledge, the store does not employ a instrument repair technician with formal education. Nothing against the guy, but he should probably stick to the stringed instruments. It’s a great store, just something to keep in mind. I shop here, just don’t bring my wind instruments
Really nice people, family owned and operated.
Bought mixer and the Employee went out of his way to find some used XLR Cable’s with 1/4 in male ends.
I brought a saxophone in to have cork replaced on the neck. The job was mediocre at best. I redid it myself
I like Jordon but hes always to busy to get to my stuff needs to hire help

I have been taking guitar lessons with Chris K Music for over 2 years now. I can truly say I have been very happy with the results. I can play and sing plenty of songs. He teaches and lets you use your own creativity at the same time. I really appreciate that. He makes it fun! I look forward to each lesson. Thanks Chris!
Chris is WONDERFUL! My son has some special needs and has been taking drum lessons for almost 2 years. Chris is patient and kind and my son looks forward every week to going to lessons!

Cool little shop. Owner was chill and easy to talk with, and let me in on a Friday when he was technically closed.
Decent small town selection of gear. Lots of Gretch electrics, and some mid-range ESP/LTD guitars and basses, among others. There were even a couple pointy guitars. 3 or 4 intro level drum kits and a solid assortment of acoustic guitars. (July 2021)
I picked up a Peavey guitar amp for my son while I was in, and it was priced competitively. I would recommend this shop, and shop there again myself if I have the need and opportunity.
