Love the guys there they are good people, and they have great guitars really going to make an investment with them
Gifted my 2 grandsons, age 8 and 9, with lessons for Christmas. They look forward to going every week, and leave excited about what they have learned. Both Frank and Sam are gifted musicians, and are not only masters at their craft, but also at building confidence in their students. Their love for music is infectious! Highly recommend!
Frank’s a great guy, always willing to take time to talk music
Awesome guys , Frank and Sam
This place broke my guitar and tried to say it was already broken when I brought it in. poor customer service!!Ipaid them to break my guitar basically.i wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there.i couldnt even get an apology. I would recommend going anywhere but there.dont have them fix your instruments. They sell knockoff used guitars, definitely not like other places I’ve been to.its like going to a used junk tag sale.very unprofessional.go to George’s music,or the music shop in torrington where you can expect quality workmanship and honesty.
Horrible attitude over priced gear
Horrible, I walked in to buy a guitar and he was beyond rude

Eric helped me and provided excellent customer service. I found the instrument that I was looking for at an excellent price.
Always helpful and knowledgeable.
An error in judgment when I decided to place an order for them to send out my two guitars I STILL to this day can’t string myself worth beans. Decent store for the most part but what really got me sore was the fact that the clerk said that they send their instruments out to a repair tech in E. Hartford but then found out that for whatever reason they have to send the guitars to a tech in BOSTON and the woodwind and brass instruments are the only instruments they ferry back and forth for repairs to EH. Misleading and wonder if it were intentional or whether or not someone else over there neglected to tell him that the different instruments get repaired at different locations. Not my fault I didn’t get the right info but certainly my fault I opted to not take my precious guitars back before the start of business last week so I could either try once again to string them myself or have someone else nearer to me I’d forgotten momentarily about do it for me instead. Ideally I’ll see if I can learn the proper way to string them from now on to save on the cost and also to not feel helpless and at the mercy of someone else whose repair shop happens to be out of state yet.
Will never take an instrument there for repair again. They still have the instrument after more than a year, cannot give me an answer as to when it will be ready & don’t seem to care about customers. Repeated calls and visits only result in messages left for manager who never gets back to us. Seriously think twice before ever purchasing or getting service at this store.
The rude little slug working there was too bothered with his piano concerto to help us. Apparently, going through a whole rigamarole online is now “easier” than just showing up and renting what you need. Yeah, we won’t be coming back. Thanks!
I purchased two bell covers at the end of August, chose store pickup, but they never called me and then the charge show up on my credit card statement on Dec 04 (after 3 month?). The credit card company helped to credit $19.12 back, but then the case went to debt collector. I had wasted too much time calling different phone number, waiting on line, so I decided just paid this 20 bucks and tell everyone about my experience. I also had our clarinet maintenance done 4 weeks ago here, but again, they are supposed to call me but they never do!!! I had to drive to the store, asked them to check the status, and realized that everything is in pending. The phone number on file is correct, they just never call. I guess shopping in the store is ok, but never expect them to call you for anything..
5. Collinsville Antiques Co
Address: 283 Main St, New Hartford, CT 06057 , New Hartford Center , Connecticut , United States
Nice place filled with nice objects. Prices are varried so shop around all the vendors.
Expansive and organized selection of my favorite things.
Found this amazing antique center on a joy ride last fall. Now it is my go to place. Have had many girl days out here. Love the diverse inventory and cleanliness of the HUGH shop. So happy to have found it. OH! The STAFF is SO helpful..
This place is huge! Something for everyone and every display is neat and clean. Easy parking too.
I can always find something interesting
Fun for antiquing. Great selection of all periods.
Been to a lot of antique shops but this one was probably the worst, staff were constantly following us and constantly trying to start a conversation while we were browsing not to mention the ridiculous prices on stuff that wasn’t even worth much value and its so hot in there literally no AC not to mention the fact they have hardly anything in there to look at. Never coming back.
Over priced stuff nobody wants.
Not only turned away with a service dog but berated by a woman who identified herself as the manager. I was told I could not enter with my service dog, asked why I needed a service dog, and when I said I was a cancer patient she rolled her eyes. It took a lot for me to get out today and had been looking forward to this outing for over a week. My husband and I left feeling hurt, marginalized and upset enough that we went home. Cancer is hard enough and this woman should be ashamed not to mention it was illegal. I have been a customer for over 20 years – back when they only had the Collinsville location. I can’t even tell you how many pieces in our home were purchased between both locations and the number of $$$ spent.
6. Music & Arts
Address: 989 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT 06107 , New Hartford Center , Connecticut , United States
We are new to the area and we’re pleased to have found this music store just around the corner. The customer service by telephone and in person was excellent; I spoke to a Chris and a Ruben, both of whom were gracious and helpful.
I had my 40-year-old folk guitar re-strung and re-conditioned for $25! To boot, Ruben was kind enough to tune my guitar on my way out of the store.
It’s rare to find a Music store these days. It’s even more rare to find a store whose staff provide such professional customer service. Will definitely bring our other two guitars in for servicing.
Wasn’t going in to buy but, the selection of guitars was great. The service was excellent and I was treated with respect, definitely will be going back whenever I need something!
Great service!!
Limited retail space, but the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Music lessons are offered on site.
Yeah it’s good!
I have condensed my original rant down to the following- we really like our children’s teachers- but the front desk needs saving
My child joined band program at her school in West Hartford. Using their online system, I placed an order for instrument rental and a book for the program. The date I placed my order, they charged my credit card.
However, they never delivered the instrument until I called and confirm the status. The book was never delivered with the instrument. A week later, I called them to confirm about the book. They told me that it was back ordered. Since the book was available in Amazon for next day delivery, I asked Music & Arts to cancel my book order.
After few weeks, I still did not have my credit back for the book. I called them to ask for the refund, and the customer service told me that I have to return the book (which was never delivered!) in order to get the refund and hang up on me. I used the chat function on their website to explain the situation. Here, the customer service told me that they would never charge the credit card unless the item is delivered, and conversation did not go anywhere. (Again, my credit card was charged on the date I placed order!) Not knowing what to do, I called the store in West Hartford, left my phone number with an employee so the manager can call me back. No one called me back. I sent polite email to the manager, and also emailed the customer service. No response from anyone.
I will NOT order anything from this business in the future.
When ever I place an order for a left handed Guitar it takes like 6 weeks for it to get to me horrible ordering process
JUST HIT BACKSPACE ON YOUR BROWSER AND PICK ANOTHER COMPANY. YOU’RE WELCOME.
Called your West Hartford CT store early today, after calling around to several other of your stores, to see if the had a certain string for my cello and if they could fix the one string today. Was told yes on both. My husband drove 25 min there to find out they did not have the string. Drove to the nearest store that had this string (which was an additional 15 min out from my house) and they had no one to help with the cello. My husband ended up purchasing the string. Had I talked to him I would have told him not to make the purchase. Now every place is closed so tomorrow I have to go to another store to get this string put on. We needed the cello for tomorrow so you guys were literally no help. I will be returning the string and doing my business elsewhere. I should have listened to the other bad reviews. First time customer turned into last time customer.
7. Making Music 2 LLC
Address: 259 Albany Turnpike, Canton, CT 06019 , New Hartford Center , Connecticut , United States
Super nice and friendly in the store, and Mr. LaSalle did a wonderful job restoring my dad’s old 1962 guitar that had not been touched in decades and needed a lot of work. Definitely recommend! Photos are before and after.
They really helped on some amp repairs.
Stopped in store for first time to get a couple guitar related things. Super friendly and knowledgeable
First, the employees were excellent; friendly and helpful. I was extremely disappointed in the store itself. This was basically a dark, messy pawn shop, not the store I was familiar with from years ago. My only reason to go back would be to pick through dusty items to find something I might be in search of, more of an adventure.
Closed even though the hours said it was open (3 pm on a Wednesday). The place looked like a hoarders attic. Absolute mess.
Went in to sell my cello, the woman that was working there was amazing and very professional. She had to call the owner to ask about the selling price. He had her look up what my model last sold for on eBay (it’s 2021 my dude) and there were no matches so he had nothing to go off of. I paid $1400 for it, I was looking for around $500. He wanted to give me $50. An absolute joke. I’m not looking for top dollar but I’m also not looking to get completely ripped off.
Ordered lugs for my snare. They sent me receipts and invoices and never shipped my lugs. I called and emailed multiple times and never got a response back after leaving numerous messages. Been 2 months and I still don’t have my lugs and am out $60.
9. George’s Music Center
Address: 905 New Harwinton Rd, Torrington, CT 06790 , New Hartford Center , Connecticut , United States
Best guitar and amp. store I been to yet.
Owner George is the most knollegable guitar and amp. Dude I’ve ever met, that’s saying something since I’ve been a pro. guitarist for 51 years now.
He carries PRS. Suhr, and has MANY pre CBS. Fender amps as well carries Messa Boogie!!
Great guy, great store, what more do you need?
Norm Cote
Great store. Knowledgeable staff!
Guys are knowledgeable, friendly and well-informed. Have made a few major purchases here and am always satisfied!
Nice shop
If you’re not looking to go too far to get musical instruments. Look no further. Expensive though. But if you don’t care about prices, go for it. Not much of a selection though.
Meh
After going to this place; I must say I will never go back there again. The owner is so rude and disrespectful. Its not even funny. The owner needs get off his anthropocentric state of mind.
This place is just awful. The owner is so rude to us that i will never go back. We rented an instrument from him because our normal music store didnt have the instrument and when the instrument broke he said it was our fault and that it wasnt covered and then bad mouthed our local music store.
10. Music & Arts
Address: 50 Main St, East Hartford, CT 06118 , New Hartford Center , Connecticut , United States
Got just what I needed! Customer service up the wazoo. Am I royalty?
Our go to place for strings, sticks, and whatever else we may need!
Lots of great instruments to buy. I got a nice 88 key electric piano here. It shipped within a week, if not less.
Also a great place with lots of different music books for many instruments.
Cool place, very expensive
Good selection and price
I had been taking lessons at this location since March 2019. One of their instructors stopped teaching in June 2019 and took the summer months off. The store called me in August to say the instructor was not returning in the Fall and my account would be closed but if I wanted to begin with a new instructor I could. To my surprise upon starting with the new instructor, my account incurred a new student fee of $30 which is out of order since I am a continuing student; I asked the store to provide a credit and they recently did so. The new student fee is inappropriate due to no fault of mine.
I went to the store 7:45 pm because I need to rent an instrument. I’ve been waiting because the employee was helping another customer. Then, when it was my turn he said : I can’t help you because we close at 8 come back tomorrow. While I was waiting I saw another employee he just looking at us and he didn’t of help us.The worst customer service I ever experienced.
Rented a saxaphone for 2 years. Summers were free. Returned the sax in the fall and was charged for the summer. 300$ which is the yearly rate. No notification or change of contract. Its a scam. Free summers not part of the contract, just a gift to you until you return it. Hours spent on hold to corporate as the local manager has no power.
11. Cassotto Levers
Address: 149 High Valley Dr, Canton, CT 06019 , New Hartford Center , Connecticut , United States
An Update; I’ve gotten to a few consoles, a few small grands and a couple of Steinway D’s, and am really pleased with this lever.
While the appearance of this tool is not the primary objective, it is wonderful to look at while working, it really does make for a more enjoyable experience, if it wasn’t fun enough already!
The contour is excellent, again, better than what I’d asked for. Fits my hand perfectly in so many different grips and positions on both style of pianos. I really like the grip of the epoxy finish, I feel like I have very good control and there is a slight softness to it that is a bit easier on the hand then the rosewood lever I’ve been using. I’ve been working with a 5° lever for decades, really like the 10° angle, just a bit more wiggle room navigating plate struts and such. I’m using the #2 tip for awhile, it’ll move around a bit on some pins but the control is superb, and the rigid shaft gives you good information from the tuning pin. Can’t wait to start working with the #1 tip.
When I first felt how light it was, I worried I’d be working my arm too hard, but there is no energy getting lost in my motion and I feel like I have more control using less energy. I tune a 1933 Steinway L that has been particularly difficult over the years, loose tuning pins, misshapen strings and plate, etc. This lever gave me a remarkable amount of control over these nasty tuning pins, I achieved a level of precision in this tuning that I didn’t think was possible.
(original post…)
I just received the lever I’d ordered a few days ago. I’ve been using a typical schaff rosewood handled extension lever for decades and am glad I finally went with carbon fiber. I’ve only tuned a few uprights and one grand so far with it, but I can already tell this tool has a very welcome place in my tool kit. The way it’s contoured fits my hand perfectly in several different positions on both grands and uprights, and the epoxy finish feels like I have a nice grip on it. Even though it’s half the weight of my extension lever I feel a remarkable amount of control over the tuning pin, there’s really no energy getting away from me.
Randy was very pleasant and patient to work with, he was very generous with his time and kept me in the loop with updates, photos and videos, from when the tool was basically a rectangular corn dog around the shaft to the gorgeous final product. I liked that the handle is so customizable, plus he improved on our initial design consultations and made it even better. The potential for graphics is a nice touch and makes the process that much more personal and enjoyable. The fact that it’s all manufactured in the USA to such high standards sealed the deal.
It’s a magnificent tool technically speaking, and that so much care was put into making it look magnificent as well was really satisfying; I’m going to have to live up to this wonderful lever!
12. Rayburn Music

Excellent Quality of both service and instruments.
Very friendly fast and efficient service! I love shopping local
Very helpful.
Fast and friendly service
trying to reach the store for the past 5 months. they are not responding to email or phone call. The phone service is also disconnected now.
we are left with no response and no refund.
STAY AWAY from this company! I rented a cello early 2019. We returned the cello in Aug 2019 and are still getting billed for it! I’ve called and left messages since no one picks up the phone in the Milford office where I rented and returned the instrument. No call back and monthly payments for the cello are still getting charged off my bank card. Had to file a complaint with my bank to stop payments. Terrible terrible business practice!
We rented a viola from Rayburn. The first viola wasn’t put together right (something to do with the bridge). after switching to another viola we realized the bow doesn’t quite fit with the viola.
we rented from the music store in the center and it was a great experience but pricier. though Rayburn isn’t cheap either
they will be replacing the viola once more, lets see how it goes this time…
13. Trading Post Music
Address: 233 Albany Turnpike, Canton, CT 06019 , New Hartford Center , Connecticut , United States
Awesome little store, fun to look around and see what you can find!
A classic spot for audiophiles to go to in search of records, cds or whatever way to play their favorite songs. They do have a smoking selection which is detailed as well with glassware and other tools to help you out.
Cool little shop for records, CDs, band shirts and bunch of other neat things that reminded me heavily of the 90’s!
Lot”s of vinyl if that’s what you are looking for. A bit disorganized with “stuff” all over the place. If you are interested in something you don’t see or albums over $20 ask and they may have it.
Ok place for glass but there is only a handful of helpful people also, lots of return rate on who works there, huge store for everything tho, very good place for band merch and CDs, LP, anything, old games, t shirts, rugs, rugs, a lot in stock
Doesn’t restock on many things. Doesn’t have many items I look for anyway…very small selection of glass to pick from.. and worst of all the older lady working in there was all up in my face about me smelling like bud…in her smoke shop..in the 18+ section ..when im here to buy paraphernalia anyway! Told me if she was a cop she would search me..Like NO DUH if a cop was in the 18+ section in a smoke shop everyone in there would most likely smell and he would probably want to search everyone! She was completely rude to me an after getting told they didn’t have what I was looking for anyway i just left and I won’t be going back there..
Smelled horrible in there, cheap place
14. Hulme & Sweeney Piano Service
Address: 247 Farms Village Rd, West Simsbury, CT 06092 , New Hartford Center , Connecticut , United States
Great people, great service! I run a fellow piano restoration and recomend them all the time when a customer is shoping around looking for their dream piano. Hulme & Sweeney go through their pianos meticulously, and never do hack short term fixs that you see from allot of “professional dealers” who slap on a short term warranty on a piano that doesn’t last much longer. Beyond their top notch craftsmanship their prices are beyond affordiable!!! I would recomend them to a buyer anyday, and please keep in mind I restore and rehome pianos myself. Their simply top notch.
I have been a customer of Tony Hulme for over 40 years and have purchased several pianos. He is the best! And a wonderful technician as well!

(Posting for the bride) Thank you to Kathy (owner and musician) and the other three members of the string quartet who were absolutely fantastic at our wedding! They played beautifully and were the perfect touch for the ceremony. Kathy was wonderful to work with and was very encouraging throughout the planning process. She is kind, flexible, and very responsive to questions and adjustments. The sample CDs and online samples were very helpful when we were choosing the songs for the quartet to play. Kathy also provided many sample playlists of songs to choose from. We hears from many guests that it was the best strings performance they had ever heard. Thank you to Kathy and the musicians for helping to make our wedding so lovely.
Wonderful people, they played beautifully at our wedding. Everything was very easy to work with them, schedule, and pay!
We booked Millennium Music about 4 months before our wedding and boy, am I glad we did!!! They totally added that elegant, unique touch we were looking for!! Kathy was fantastic to work with- offering several suggestions and advice. Her team is very professional and the music was BEAUTIFUL! Some is even used in our wedding video and I just love listening to them over and over. You will not be disappointed if you book!!
