Recently visited DeMont Guitars in Oswego for the first time and had my Floyd Rose guitar set up for a drop tuning by Dorian! He did a really great job and and the set up was super fast. DeMont also has a really cool section of guitars (they also make custom guitars, how cool is that?!) and offer lessons at the store. Highly recommended guitar tech!
Nate was great and he sold me an awesome electric guitar.
This is a great shop. Friendly, hardworking staff and very reasonable pricing. Josh did a fantastic job replacing the tuners on my Gibson LP and making the right adjustments to my Hummingbird. Highly recommend for all your guitar service needs.
I was there the morning right after it caught on fire, hard to review this place since it was being cleaned up. Just to be fair i gave it 4 stars
Only gave a star review because I was busy at the time. Now that I have time, *clears throat*…
Nice little store tucked away in a place nobody would ever think a guitar shop would be. It is full of vintage and newly made (Guyatone) guitars, basses and amps. They have so many guitars for sale! If you can afford vintage prices, do shop here! (They also have a Reverb page, iirc)
Made my first purchase, but unfortunately it turned out the item had been listed with an incorrect price. Was disappointed, but I was notified and the refund was issued quickly at least.
Update: Had a representative reach out a week later attempting to buy off my review with an undisclosed discount. When I explained that I could not in good morals accept that as the review was fair and the time to do the right thing had come and pass they explained that they could not afford to honor the mistake ($50 difference), all the while offering a discount which could well add up to the same amount, or more at the end of the day making the explanation somewhat nonsensical in that case. It’s an unfortunate circumstance to be sure as the mistakes keep snowballing and I very much enjoyed everything I had read and seen from them prior to this.
Very unprofessional. Nate seems to act like a know it all, but could use a few lessons.

5. Gene Liberty’s Guitar Repair
Address: 112 S Bushnell St, Sheridan, IL 60551 , Newark , Illinois , United States
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Gene for a while and i wouldn’t take my guitars to anywhere else but him. He’s truly a master of his craft and his custom guitars that hes built are all astounding. He is very knowledgeable and has always been more than happy to help not only me but everyone else i know anytime they had an issue with any of their guitars. Everyone i know that plays takes their guitars to him simply because he’s the best at what he does. Whether you’re looking for a simple repair or a complete custom build from scratch he covers it all and i highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for the best of the best when it comes to guitars.
I find the prevous post very hard to believe. I have had Gene Liberty repair numerous vintage guitars for me over the years and have found his work to nothing less than outstanding. A luthier that has been in business for 35 years, like Gene, is not going to cut a guitar body or a nut wrong. Also, I don’t think he makes guitars with a glued on neck, so I don’t believe that one as well. Check out Genes webpage and judge for yourself.
I’ve had the pleasure of having Gene Liberty do work on two of my guitars and they were easily the most pleasurable experiences I’ve had when it came to getting work done. His work is absolutely superb and professional while still affordable and timely and I’ve never left his shop without knowing I took my guitars to the right place. I would highly recommend his work to anyone and I’d go back to him with any work without a second though. Gene is simply a master of his trade!
terrible, terrible, terrible stay away. contracted to build a guitar after a year and a half cut all my wood incorrectly and then told me I should maybe look for another luthier. during this time I had him do some work on a build I was doing and he cut the nut backwards and glued the neck at the wrong angle, Use this guy at your own risk! Cost me about 800 bucks in screw ups
6. Quinlan & Fabish Music Company
Address: 291 Montgomery Rd, Montgomery, IL 60538 , Newark , Illinois , United States
4 of 4 kids have gotten their band/orchestra instruments through this organization – spanning 15 years. I have never been disappointed in the quality or service they provide. Their staff is knowledgeable and helpful. You can depend on this business AND you can trust them. A rare quality these days. We are lucky to have them in our community.
The staff here are amazing and the store is wonderful and has a wide selection of quality products. The employees here have consistently been extremely helpful for me!
I’m a fan of these folks. I had a small issue with a relatively inexpensive item I had ordered. You know, the kind of issue that you debate with yourself whether or not it’s even worth the time to phone the store and discuss. I decided this problem was worth a quick call and promptly landed myself on the phone with the store manager in Montgomery. This gentleman treated me as if I was the single most important customer he had spoken with all month. I honestly left that call feeling like a champ. Not only did he resolve my issue immediately, he did it with such care and concern that I guarantee all of my future purchases with Quinlan and Fabish will be money well spent. Thank you.
Went to my daughter’s school for “band info” night. Even with Covid, they had the kids trying out wind instruments (I REALLY hope they cleaned them properly between kids). She liked the flute and I was presented with an “agreement” for 4 month trial of $72 (reasonable) and then $40/mo for 2.5 YEARS. The guy (who never even introduced himself) tried to put an “agreement” in front of me; told me it wasn’t a purchase contract (really, then what would it be with a total price of over $1,000 on it? That price and my signature makes it a …contract…).
I hit the brakes; no way am I paying a thousand dollars for anything my kid needs to keep safe, clean and protected… He actually got an attitude, huffing and ripping up the paper. This is thru the school so shame on them too but I walked in for a 10yo to try an instrument so she could join band with her friends and found myself with a washed-up-car-salesman-trying-to-sell-me-a-timeshare feeling. Oh, and lets not forget the “book”, “music stand” and “cleaning cloth” that were…you guessed it…EXTRA $!
I LMAO all the way to the car.
Very disappointed in the customer service. I received incorrect information from Quinlan & Fabish at Crone Middle School and they won’t honor what was told to me. Very over priced. Do yourself a favor and shop around.
Edit: They ended up honoring the verbal price I was quoted.
Deena was the absolute best dj. She was easy to communicate with prior to the wedding. On the day of, she coordinated with all the other vendors to make sure everything went smoothl. The music was also on point. If you’re looking for a wedding dj, you will not go wrong with Deena.
Deena was the best! She worked with me on many levels for my music to be absolutely on point for my wedding day! She was extremely kind and patient with us. She made it a very easy and calm process for an upcoming bride! She ensured that my day was smooth and full of good vibes all through the day. Highly recommend!
Deena Dj’d my wedding and did such an incredible job! She never stopped playing music and kept the party on schedule and so fun! She was great to work with and made for an easy and stress free wedding. Would highly recommend

Great place with very friendly staff members. They’re always willing to help. I used them for instrument rental for a couple of my kids.
Very friendly and welcoming place. Had an issue with a repair but they corrected the problem. Took more than stop to resolve the issue, so 4 out 5 stars. Would still recommend and will continue to shop here.
