Wide selection, especially piano music, and very helpful in terms of finding and ordering items not in stock.
Excellent for All State requirement music and everything else for students from young to old. David is fantastic and makes additional recommendations that may help with a students progress. Excellent!
Great selection of music and friendly service!
Friendly and clean.
Disappointing
I try to avoid writing negative reviews of businesses because I understand that reviews can affect people’s livelihoods and I take that seriously. In this instance I feel compelled to report my experience with Opus Music due to the owner’s gross irresponsibility.
My son dropped off 18 high quality classical music scores with David to be reviewed for purchase on June 21. They were delivered in immaculate condition in a corrugated cardboard box which also had a rolled up paper shopping bag in the end to keep the books in place. I spoke with David on the phone on the day that they were dropped off and he expressed unquestionable interest in buying the books but said that they would need to be evaluated for price. I suggested that he just hold onto them and evaluate them at his convenience. I heard nothing back from him for a couple weeks so I called to see if he had a chance to look at them and left a message. After a few more days I called again and left another message asking him to check back with me and let me know what he was thinking. Over the next few weeks I continued to leave voicemails and emails pleading just to let me know what was going on. Today (August 6th) I went by the store to pick up my items after hearing absolutely nothing from David. I was greeted by a woman there and I explained that I was unhappy about David’s unwillingness to communicate with me when he is holding my property. She spoke to me about some family difficulties that they have had and apologetically suggested that she give the books back to me, to which I consented. She brought them out from the back and all of the books were sitting in the box at an angle on top of the rolled up paper bag like they had just been tossed into the box. Several of them were bent and two were creased through the whole book. I said “this is unbelievable” and showed her how he damaged the books. She apologized again and said to my dismay for a second time that David was “just trying to help me out”. Exactly how holding and damaging my property and refusing to correspond with me over a span of several weeks is “helping me out” is a mystery to me. I approached him with a simple and appropriate business transaction assuming that his interest was an opportunity to profit from the sale of some very high quality materials. I did not ask for “help” and I certainly did not ask to have my time and resources wasted because David is incapable of handling his own business. I would have been completely fine with a one-line email that said “having family difficulties right now so will not be able to evaluate your materials for…” No problem, things happen… I pick up my materials and wish him the best. I wonder how long he would have held my stuff and continued to dodge me if I had not walked in? Truly pathetic!
3 dollars for the soundtrack to Super Fly ? Made my day great spot for that old school record store vibe
I love this record store. They have a great selection and every time I go back, I find more and more to buy! I always start with purusing their $1 bins out in front of the store, then go inside to browse up and down the front aisles of the store. Then off to the back room I go to find another awesome soundtrack to add to my collection. I highly recommend checking the place out if you are looking for the obscure record to add to your collection!
Nothing personal they just didn’t have a big enough hip hop cd selection.
One of my favorite spots to dig
My first time in here the guys behind the counter acted a little snobbish, but after a few more trips they started becoming more helpful.
Rude the The gentleman barely looked at any of the records that I had brought in for more than two seconds before passing on majority of them and buying maybe four . I wasn’t looking to get a whole lot for what I had brought in but from reading the other reviews I thought that I may have a chance at getting something worth my while not eight bucks
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and the store is well-organized. The prices on the other hand… Expect to pay a serious premium for widely available used vinyl (see e.g. the $30 copy of CSNY’s 4-Way Street; $25 for John Lennon’s Rock ‘n’ Roll). You’ll find the same selections for far less on Discogs or eBay, even after shipping. I prefer Wax ‘n’ Facts for the superior inventory and much more reasonable prices.
Not friendly
5. Marshall’s Piano Shop
Address: 225 Oak Ln, Decatur, GA 30030 , North Decatur , Georgia , United States
Came in here looking for a very old, rare musical score and they sadly did not have it, but they helped me find it online, and I had a pleasant conversation with the gentleman. The store is a little disorganized but they offer a heck ton of material. They offer piano lessons as well. If there is a score that you need they will most likely have it. Great place to spend time and peruse music.

Great little music shop. They got everything you need to get started at fair prices. Anytime my kids want to learn a new instrument I’ll be going here.
Owner Mike is a good guy, cool selection of gear. Support local shops!!!
Dropped my guitar by for a little work and it sounds and looks dramatically better. Thank you!
Horrible Customer service and NOT HELPFUL!! Instead of helping we with appropriate prices for my gear, I was ridiculed by the prices I thought might be appropriate. A ‘good luck with selling your stuff at those prices’ is all I got. I don’t appreciate the attitude and lack of consideration. All they could have said was ‘those prices are higher than market currently…have you thought of selling them for $$$$?’. Unfortunately the response I got causes me to NEVER want to shop at this place. Sellers BEWARE.
I found the owner to be very unfriendly. I will shop elsewhere. I don’t like to feel like I am bothering someone when I’m spending my money.
Did the first ever online order for a Vinyl record on their website. The owner was very friendly, helpful, and all around a very nice guy. The album was shipped and packaged accordingly. It plays and looks great. I definitely recommended buying from them.
Very cool music gear spot in Avondale Estates.
Amazing spot with top-tier gear
Called the store 3 times before arriving employee was sitting down on his phone when I walked in so I’m assuming the phone is not connected in the store.
First time guitar owner needing new strings put on was told to bring in my guitar and stings in from the car.
When I came back in I was to he’s no expert and someone could get to it later.
Not a big deal at all I just wish I would have know that before driving over and being told to go grab my item from my vehicle.
I visited this store which was rated as a great pace to sell vinyl records. Well I agreed to sell some of my records for a paltry $25 to be received via cash app, even though the clerk told me the owner has a habit to forget things, but I was assured my money would’ve be sent the same night or next morning. Still have not received my payment. Extremely unprofessional especially for such a small amount of money. Extremely disappointing and dissatisfied and would advise against utilizing this service

The CD & Album selection is impressive to say the least.
I have been going here for years. I love the selection, and the diligents that they use to make sure that they have what you’re looking for. If it’s not in the shop, it will be to you, practically the next day. This is the best music store in the perimeter.
Best mom and pop store for CDs vinyl and used materials in the Atlanta area
I was in the area and I was looking for Jay Z Black Album I called to see if they had it and they did. I went over there to pick it up and the door was closed. Turns out due to COVID-19 you can’t go into the store. You have to pay over the phone and then they bring your item to the door. Not the best situation but not the worst either. I did get item so I will go again.
One of my favorite Vinyl spots. I make it a point to stop by once a month and I have yet to leave with out at least one purchase.
We will return ! Great prices !
Not friendly at all.
Guy was rude on phone :/
I bought vinyl from this location off & on for a few years. SO I had some vinyl to sell & called this location to see if they are interested in buying. Called before I left home which takes me around 2 hours to travel on public transportation. I arrived there finally. The guy in the white beard was the guy who was there. I asked will they buy them, he told me that the guy who usually check them went to the post office & he will be back. But he decided to look at them himself. Took a quite a few & set them aside. While he was doing this, this took about 10 plus minutes to do so while I’m still waiting for “THE GUT WHO USUALLY CHECKS & APPROVES THEM”. While he gives me a uncomfortable looks, he ask where did I buy them at? I replied “some from here & some from other locations. Does that matter if they are in good shape? As I’m still waiting for “THE GUY” after all of this time, I believe he makes up some kind of lie & just all of a sudden says, “he’s not interested” all of a sudden. Hmmmm. Why have me waste my time “waiting” for this mystery guy to show up & he makes a executive decision? Also, after all of this he tells me he’s the owner. Some kind of owner acting totally different them when I walked in at 1st. Now he has a temper which I’m still trying to figure out where did his aggression come from? I spent good money at this location to be treated like a a nobody. His actions were too familiar, especially “DEEP SOTH” familiar. But now that I know how he feels towards certain customers, I will NEVER recommend anyone to come to this location. Might as well fly a rebel flag over this store. That’s how he or they really feels about they’re customers. These kinds of places should NEVER BE IN BUSINESS.
Such an amazing performance! We went to their candle lit Valentines performance and it was lovely. It felt like a very intimate concert and the location was stunning.
I had the pleasure of listening to the Edgewood String Quartet at a Candlelight Concert put on by Fever. The particular concert I saw lasted about an hour and included sci-fi theme music. The venue was at a chapel and the acoustics were amazing. I will definitely be looking to see them again in the future.
Saw them at candlelight concert. Awesome musicians. Wish there had been a few more selections. Also while I thought the patter between selections was okay it was too long n too adlibbed. The concert had a love theme n it was in the romantic candlelight atmosphere. Scripted remarks on theme would have been better. The remarks used were more like fir an educational presentation
Not bad. Candles werent giving the mood i anticipated. Songs were OK. Cool date night but would suggest broadening the type of artists they do covers for.
13. Guitar Decatur
Address: 117 N McDonough St, Decatur, GA 30030 , North Decatur , Georgia , United States
Decided to take up Guitar at retirement. So glad I found Eddie. He is not only a great, patient and knowledgeable instructor he is a great guy to spend time with. I look forward to my lesson each week knowing it will be both instructional but also fun. He really seems to have a knack for ‘meeting a student where they are’ in their musical journey.
I bought a classical guitar a few years ago and never got the hang of it. YouTube lessons just weren’t cutting it. Finding Guitar Decatur and Eddie was the best investment I’ve made in myself in a long time. He has helped me so much in my journey to learn the classical guitar! I started from scratch, and we’ve made a lot of progress in the last few months. After taking lessons for almost a year, I can look back and see my growth thanks to his patient coaching. Eddie is the real deal!
Hi World! My 9yr son has been taking drum lessons from Eric @GuitarDecatur throughout the school year and I could not be HAPPIER about the experience. Our lessons have been well-organized, level appropriate and FUN! My son has gone from make noise to down right music. Eric is patient, motivating and a skilled musician/teacher. Our lessons are always consistent and on time. I truly appreciate him going the extra mile with my sons lessons and sharing his genuine love of music! If you thinking about getting lessons with Guitar Decatur – DO IT! It’s a safe and creative space to learn to play music.
I had asked the General manager or owner if they taught guitar bass lessons and yes they do. First unpleasant surprise I got that this teacher had injured his forearms or wrists that he could not play, so he couldn’t show me anything. By the third lesson he got me so confused in the scale patterns (major or minor) that I had to look up what he was talking about and it was way ahead of the basic concepts of intervals, scales and scale degrees! Not happy wi this!!

Rick has always done a great job tuning and moving pianos for me. Very nice, and reasonable rates
Rick is an honest, smart, and hard working man. Rick sold me my first upright piano. He took so much care and effort in restoring the piano, covering some pieces in felt and adjusting and tuning it after delivering it. This is a guy who is committed to his craft, something we don’t see much nowadays. Thank you, Rick! I was sent to Rick by my piano teacher, Ross Marshall.
We bought our beautiful piano a few years ago from Rick and he has come out to the house and serviced it since. He has been nothing but kind and knowledgeable. I would recommend him to my friends in a heartbeat.
Lots of pianos and good on repairs
The address needs to be updated in Google.
Rick is not a nice guy. Thinks the sun revolves around him. Will be taking my Steinway somewhere else.
I am a physician, so I have spent more years in school/training than I would care to mention. I encountered a lot of brilliant individuals who are very proficient in their field, but were unable to impart their knowledge to the student. The real rarity is someone who is both accomplished in their field AND skilled at transfering that skill to another person, i.e. someone who can both do and teach. Taylor is such an individual.
My son has been taking piano lessons from this school for about three years and has just recently taken up voice. He has had several piano teachers over the years and all have been excellent. They are patient and understanding, yet still insist on disciplined practice to instill the lessons. They teach both theory and practical applications and will not advance a student if they haven’t earned it! All of the instructors and staff are wonderful and caring. I cannot say enough great things about this school!
But I don’t want to give the impression that Taylor just “teaches songs”. He teaches everything that rock/blues music is constructed from, the physical guitar techniques you can learn from them, and how to make it all come naturally. “Holistic”, if you will.
this place does not exist and never has. Somebody identified it as of a music instructor affiliated with Taylor Robinson music, but there is no such place at this location.
