What a great cute venue. The lights are sophisticated. The hospitality is phenomenal. And the sound… the sound is so masterfully handled, I would listen to my voicemails in there in if I could. You gotta check out this little hidden gem.
Absolutely love all the shows these guys do, super cool vibe
Beautiful interior although none of the music spoke to me—I don’t recall finding any instrumentals. The albums were beautifully presented but I couldnt help feeling like everything was generated by an algorithm so the heart is always missing with that kind of music. There definitely weren’t a lot of ugly artists on any album covers I wish all music stores had this many listening booths
The store is located in an area easily accessible. The show was amazing I will definitely visit again 100%.
You had all those people in there for a show and you couldn’t let anyone use the bathroom? Boo

What’s really cool about this place is they have parts. I always need some doodad or whathaveyou for guitar mods and they never disappoint.
Super friendly staff and a great selection of new and vintage guitars
awesome! really cool selection of synths in the very back
This is our neighborhood used and new instrument store. Same for amplifiers. Come here for strings and electronic tuners. They facilitate all kinds of music instructions and sell printed materials. Last time we went in I waited for my sons on the couch as they got lost on keyboard and other toys.
Great little gem of a place. Go get an instrument and learn to play it.
I’ve enjoyed each visit and was assisted with my needs with courtesy and professional experienced staff.
6. Oakland Guitars
Address: 423 40th St, Oakland, CA 94609 , Oakland , California , United States
Great shop. Good prices on instruments and on repair.
My guitar can see into the future now.
Accueil sympa, un peu de tout au niveau des prix, on passait juste des fois que le proprio soit là, mais on peut repartir avec une sangle pas cher (7 dollars)
All the employees have been gracious and helpful since I’ve been going here. I play a lot metal and they don’t necessarily have a wide selection of guitars in that focus. There are a lot of fenders, some gibsons, and certainly some interesting vintage guitars here.
They fixed my guitar. They did a good job. I was pleased.
They nicked my Roland guitar and overcharged for set up when the fret boards were already oiled and good. Don’t use them. Poor job overpriced.
I went in a few weeks ago and brought in my guitar to see if I could get something for it. The guy at the front looked at it and even tested it out a bit and estimated me to $420 but as this was the first place I tried to sell it at, I told him I would think about it and come back later if I didn’t get a better offer. When I did eventually come back, the same guy (who didn’t seem to remember me) looked at it again and said they wouldn’t buy that “dinky thing” and they would pass. Confused, considering it was the same guitar he saw, that had not been played since before the first encounter, and was in my guitar case for most of the time other than to show it to potential buyers. Next guy comes in and says he he heard this place “broken guitars” was a good place to take in instruments and see if you could get some money for them. Guy at the front responds “Possibly”…. Way to attract customers. He dismisses all of the instruments the guy brought in claiming issues with the wood (easiest part to fix) This place should be called BROKE guitars cause they don’t even have the money to buy the guitars for cheap. I’d rather appreciate it if they were upfront with customers and said they weren’t currently buying any guitars rather than giving us a run-a-round as if we don’t know anything about guitars. Do better and luckily I ended up finding a spot nearby that bought it off me for $100 less than what I got it for!
7. Piedmont Piano Company
Address: 1728 San Pablo Ave, Oakland, CA 94612 , Oakland , California , United States
this is the place where you can get a vintage piano. I got some free jazz concert tix the other day. It was Diane Witherspoon’s vocal concert. They played the piano worth over $250,000. The venue is not so big. It’s a store after all. But if you arrive late for the show, ask the manager to add extra seats by the stage.
besides selling the best new and refurbished pianos, they have wonderful intimate jazz – piano concerts

One thing that sets this shop apart is that most of the stock has labels with detailed condition descriptions and grading, along with other helpful data. It’s a smallish shop and doesn’t have the deepest stock, but there’s plenty of good stuff to check out. Good customer service too.
Cool experience. Check it out!
Great place, great records, great people.
They don’t want to buy old records, fyi. Unless they are soul.
Awesome vinyl shop. Great collection, records are well organized and fairly priced. Friendly staff, supportive of the neighborhood and the Oakland vibe. Community board has announcements for local music events.
They do a very good job, been going there for many years.
Beautiful shop. Old world. Craftsman level workmanship.
Fantastic work. Very friendly service. Truly Best.
The only reason not 5 is because they haven’t been able to fix my instrument yet.
I had used this place before in the late 90s and had excellent luck with both their service and professionalism. However my latest experience with them was only ok. I was told to bring my horn in September or October when the school instruments were going to be all finished. So I brought my Bach 16 in October on ther 14th and it was not completed until February. I had it re-lacquered and overhauled. I was quoted 600 to 700 dollars. They told me to call if I hadn’t heard from them in awhile and I needed it. I waited a month before calling. They were very polite and professional on the phone and never made me feel like I was bugging them. When the horn was finished in February it looked and played very well. Slide was excellent. But 3.5 months is a long time for an overhaul, and the bill was 800 dollars. Now, not sure why it was more than quoted, but I think if you take that long to do the work, then the price should be as quoted. Not the worst experience, but average at best.
I can’t speak to their ability to repair Musical instruments, I’m sure they do a fantastic job. But when it comes to customer service or assistance slightly outside of their usual services their owner Robert refuses to even consider the possibility. Best of luck to them but we’ll be going elsewhere.

Was very pleased to know that Gold Rush guitars offered a mobile appraisal and guitar buying service. When I called and spoke to Al, he was very professional and knowledgeable and was able to give me details on a few guitars I had. I’m glad that they’ll be able to find new homes!
Goldrush bought my Dad’s guitar collection. An old Fender, Gibson and some acoustic guitars. Didn’t have to take them all over to different guitar stores. He came to the house and we made a deal right on the spot. Hassle free. Thank you Al!
Thank you for being fair and honest with the offer that you gave me for my grandfather’s guitar collection. We couldn’t be happier to see his Gibson and Fender collection live on with other musicians!

Cool vinyl records and the owners are super cool. They mainly sell vinyl but also sell art work, and some CD’s($5). During Covid, they’re selling masks that are of high quality. Dogs are welcomed as well.
Great, friendly local shop. Could easily spend hours looking through a great selection of titles
1 2 3 Go here instead! Best record store in Oakland. Great mix of modern & vintage, used and new. Never left empty handed. Owners are welcoming and friendly, great people!
19. Sharkbite Studios
Address: 248 3rd St, Oakland, CA 94607 , Oakland , California , United States
The manager is very unprofessional and rude. I would suggest putting him in some training on customer service. From one business owner to another he is not skilled in dealing with other musicians. He should rethink his position there. Beautiful studio but terrible experience booking time there.
To Start off the engineer was 30 minutes late. They charge $100 an hour to deal with attitude and lateness in the morning. The engineer was lazy didn’t want to complete the edits as needed.
If you’re doing any work at the studio don’t deal with Gabe very unprofessional
