My dad got me an old submarine manual from this bookstore. They shipped it the same day he ordered it and it arrived packed VERY GOOD in bubble-wrap so no chance of damage in the mail. Fast shipping, excellent packing, and the exact book I needed! A great transaction like this means that I will definitely be putting Gibson ‘s Books on my short list of links to check every time I need to order a book.
They give out Little Blue Books for free.
Unbelievable antique books
2. Gibson’s Books
Address: 3137 Old Hwy 431, Owens Cross Roads, AL 35763 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
Bought a violin at a decent price and taking lessons! Everyone is very friendly and very helpful. Extremely happy with every visit I’ve had to this store!
I love to go to this place for my daughter and my piano Class. Mrs Marina is really good professional.
Friendly staff. Minimal guitar accessories but I got what I needed (strings and a capo). Appears there store is more geared for violin, cello, upright bass, banjo players, etc.
4. Gadsden Music Company – Huntsville
Address: 4800 Whitesburg Dr, Huntsville, AL 35802 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
We bought a saxophone mouthpiece here. They are great for supplies for band instruments.
So incredibly friendly, customer service was amazing
They are always very helpful. They also don’t only have good products, but they have wonderful prices. I’ve bought guitar strings, flute cleaning rods, piccolo cleaning rods, a flute stand, a guitar stand, and guitar picks here. All of them have lasted and work really well.
Not a big selection of stuff, but staff was friendly.
Great experience renting for school. Good deal purchasing. Problems getting a repair.
The employee when my husband dropped it off was very rude, like we were inconveniencing them to need their services. They told us 2 weeks. After 4 weeks, I dropped by to check on status. They needed to order a part, but could patch it in the meantime. The employee I spoke to was an angel and gave me a cell number so that I could drop it off for repair before they opened, once the part came in. It has been a couple months and we haven’t heard from them.
Customer service has been hit & miss here, but they’re pretty much the only band instrument option in south Huntsville.
Great and helpful
Don’t keep their promises with estimated time frames. I wasted my time driving there when I was told my guitar would be ready and restrung the next day at said time. Well I was there the next day and another man told me he doesn’t know what happened and that’s all he could do for me.
Be careful calling and asking about their stock. If their phone isn’t answered locally in Huntsville, then it transfers to Birmingham or Gadsden. I called earlier in the week to discuss a purchase ($3,000 +/-) and was very pleased with the service, until I drove over an hour and was told the instruments we wanted to look at were in another location.
My issue is I travel with work and was in Gadsden area and had my son’s Sax to drop off for repairs. It was supposed to be delivered to my son’s school. Well it wasn’t due to some misunderstanding so I went all the way back to Gadsden to pick it up and they can’t find it. Turns out it was in Huntsville location. Fixing music instruments is not cheap… You know what else is expensive gas and wear and tear on vehicles. No apology or anything was given at the Gadsden location. Your customer service needs desperate attention!
5. Goody 2 Shoes
Address: 8488 US-431, Owens Cross Roads, AL 35763 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
Love this place! Cute clothes at reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Great Christian music. 🙂
Great service, cute clothes, and great prices
Enjoy going here, always have the latest styles. Good selection well displayed.
Alway have help when you need it.
Christmas is coming soon, guys. Hint Hint
Can not go wrong
I moved near this store about 18 months ago. I just this week decided to stop to see what items they had (thinking it was mostly SHOES). WOW!!! What a nice surprise! Great trendy apparel, costume jewelry and much, much more (including shoes/boots). Not a lot of large sizes (I wear a size 14); but, if you wear a small/medium and like cute unique items, this is your place to shop!
A note to the owners: Please remember the average size woman is a size 12 or 14. We like fashion too! 🙂
Also a comment about the theft sensor tag……. NEVER BUY CLOTHES/SHOES THAT MIGHT NEED TO BE RETURNED IF YOU LIVE 100 MILES FROM THE STORE! However, there are places that might remove the security tag for you. It’s a good idea to pay attention since people do make mistakes…..even LOOK at your receipt closely. Poor daughter who gets Miss Me jeans that do not fit! Consider donating to a underprivileged girl who might NEVER OWN A PAIR OF EXPENSIVE JEANS…..It will take away your daughter’s pain when she sees the REAL POOR GIRL ‘s gratitude for the nice jeans! It would be a good lesson before the Christmas season begins.
If your looking for mature clothing, this place caters to the younger woman
i bought 2 pair of “miss me” jeans for my 2 girls this past saturday 11/12/2010 @ 3:10 pm. didn’t see youngest till now for her to try on~security tag was left on!!!!! i live in southisde, alabama~a very long way away!!!!!! close to 100 miles. $190.08 for 2 pair and my 12 year old can’t wear hers.she’s upset!! I’ll take them back but will cost bout $50.00 in gas!!! not to mention my time! they r closed now but i”ll let u know if they even try to make it right!!!!
I walked in and was not greeted by the 2 sales associates at the register, although the 2 people behind myself and my son were. Nobody asked if we needed help finding anything..although the same 2 sales associates were very friendly and helpful to everyone else in the store.
The energy inside the store was uninviting , and they had the audacity to playing K-Love…the gospel station overhead. I will never visit this store again. I will stick to the one in Decatur. Always follow your 1st instinct and mine was not to stop!
6. The Cigar Box Guitar Store
Address: 2211 Seminole Dr SW #106, Huntsville, AL 35805 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
Stop by for free cigar box guitar lessons every Saturday at noon and shop for your own Mad Sci Innovations cigar bix guitar!
A wonderful way to be introduced to music via the unique style of 3 string Cigarbox guitar playing.
No musical experience or Cigarbox Guitar needed. The free lessons form Noon to 2 every Saturday have a good mix of beginner to more advanced playing technics and songs. You’ll be amazed how quick you can pick up some basic strumming patterns and easy 3 cord songs you have heard.
Stop in and see what hidden musical talent you may have, and some of the talented musicians who attend.
Visiting my dad from out of town, he took me to the Saturday morning open lesson (he attends every week). I had SUCH a blast! They have guitars you can borrow to see how you like it and the instructions were so easy to follow I actually played five full songs by the end of the two hours!
It was a really fun way to spend time while visiting Huntsville, I’d recommend this to anyone in the area!
7. Walmart Supercenter
Address: 330 Sutton Rd, Owens Cross Roads, AL 35763 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
Prices reasonable, have most products folks need or want
I changed my review from over two years ago from a 1 star to a 5 star. Finally, shelves are stocked most of the 6 it’s easy to find an employee willing to point you in the right direction. Glad they improved bc i hated going there. Good job management
It is walmart
Typical Walmart.
It’s a Walmart. Somewhat stocked but plan on long check out times.
Customer service is rude ! I talked to a guy and he transfered my call 4 different times and it was the same guy ! I asked if they had any of the products and he said no they are out of it then I asked if they had a different one then he hung up on me !!
This place used to look decent. The last few times I was in there its looked run down. Also, they were out of disinfectant wipes today when I entered so I had to take my chances. On the way out I asked the “greeter” if I could have a wipe from the container at her stand. Instead of just giving me ONE WIPE she told me to get them at the entrance where it was still visibly open and empty… Hopefully I didn’t contract or carry home and virus that might be going around. Low chance of that, I’m sure. Not to mention the 15 min wait line when only one register, other than self check out, was open.
Awful. Just awful. The manager did not seem to care what problems the young cashiers were having. Just sent other cashiers to figure it out. Not the fault of the cashiers
8. T Shepard’s Discount Music
Address: 110 NW Cleveland Ave, Huntsville, AL 35801 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
Only guy around I will take my guitars to get worked on. Affordable and always does an excellent job. Highly recommend
If you have a guitar (acoustic, electric, bass) that needs repair, upgrading or customization Tommy Shepard is your go to guy.
Nicest guys working there great prices on awesome rare gear. If I can help it I’ll be doing all my business through them now. I wound up there because the guitar tech at the Fret Shop was too snobby to work on my guitar but Mr. Shepard opened the case eyed it over and gave me a good price for the work in less than a minute. Lots of awesome guitars that he has made himself as well. I can’t speak highly enough about this place.
Great place for all you musical needs
Just not the place to buy music
T Shepard’s is a great shop, and Tom is a terrific, skilled, and knowledgeable guy.
The straps and strings and accouterments are top-notch.
And the selection of guitars for sale is interesting, diverse, and attractive.
Don’t be in a hurry, though, if you drop your guitar off for repairs.
And don’t expect a phone call or email to let you know about delays well past the implied pick-up date.
This is Mayberry, Andy.
Not Mount Pilot.
Mr Shepard doesn’t seem to understand how to correctly repair tuning stability issues.
He may want to consider the fact that a new customer doesn’t always mean new player. He insulted me when I told him ‘guitar will not stay in tune’ I’d like it repaired’ His response was “you mean it won’t stay in tune or you can’t get it in tune?” Wow.
Sir, I’ve been playing for 38 years. Im a seasoned player. I love music. And I would have loved to find a small shop to do business with instead of that behemoth Guitar Center. Speaking of GC, I only turned to them because this same Mr Shepard was rude to me on the phone last December when I was in the market for a new rig…I mean I’ve bought a Marshall amp, a full complement of pedals, And an American Standard Strat, a Gibson Les Paul. So maybe you should reconsider to whom you are rude in the future. I gave you a chance to earn my business and you blew it. Since last December, I’ve spent over $3000 at GC,and guys like you whine about GC all the time yet you don’t seem to understand why your own business is stuck off in the boondocks, or you constantly have to move around.
9. Huntsville Violins
Address: 7920 D Charlotte Dr, 7920 Charlotte Dr SW, Huntsville, AL 35802 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
If you need something violin-related in the Huntsville area (or beyond – I’m in Tennessee!), Huntsville Violins is a place I’d trust! Babette is so down-to-earth, she’ll feel like a long-time friend in minutes. She listens to specific needs and goes out of her way to provide the service or item you need without ever making you feel pressured in any way (and shopping for string instrument stuff can be time consuming!) I highly recommend Huntsville Violins. Loving my carbon fiber bow!
Excellent service. Friendly, and knowledgeable staff!!!
Just the place I needed to get my supplies! Great business!
Exelente
10. McDonald’s
Address: 6711 US-431, Owens Cross Roads, AL 35763 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
Yes it’s a fast food restaurant, bit what some people lack to understand is that with 12 people in line of course it’s gonna take longer than 5 min. Great people good food, for fast food.
I was child sitting two youngsters – an 8 yr old girl and 12yr old boy. I took them to the movies to see Ruby Gillman. Our “movie routine” is that we stop at the McDonald’s in Owens Cross Roads, the kids eat and play and then we head to the movies.
It looks like McDonald’s is going towards folks placing orders via the kiosks so I gave it a try.
It will take some getting used to, but fortunately, a young lady who works there, Savannah, was very helpful, professional and sweet! McDonalds is blessed to have her working there!
Kid-friendliness: There is a play area for the kids which the kids I sit really enjoy playing in!
My Mcrib had no sauce and I ordered 2 kids meals, neither had toys in them. But other than that the food was good. They where busy looked like a football team or some group of kids was there. I’ll go back again.
Buen lugar
Great food good service
Rude woman.
EXTREMELY SLOW
I ordered a 20 piece and I got a Big Mac what the hell
Been here many times. Today was rough! Took them awhile to get it together – for 2 – $3 value meals………
Dr. Bob is an amazing musician! He has a large variety of songs to chose from and takes requests. He sounds great!
I will be catching this act every chance I get! Felt like I was sitting in a jazz club with my brain wrapped in velvety smooth jazz music! Amazing experience!
12. Black Rose Records
Address: 7914 Memorial Pkwy SW Suite E-9B, Huntsville, AL 35802 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
They were excellent!! So nice, kind and absoultly perfect service!! They are definitely much more than 5 stars, and I really recommend to come to their store!!!
Great people!!
They have simply been fully honest between myself and my brother when it comes to our instrument care as we have on numerous accounts returned time after time for repairs and cleanings. Not once have we had any trouble with the way they worked, giving us estimates on all sorts of timing to receive our instruments. I recommend this place to any newer band members.
I appreciate that the owner works with a college student’s budget when tuning instruments.
I took my trumpet in to get a dent out of the valves, and without my consent the trumpet was chem cleaned. Any of the crud that was on the inside was gone (that could’ve been fixed by me washing it at home) and the debt was gone, but the cleaning stripped the lacquer off of the trumpet. Hallman’s refused to re-lacquer it unless we paid for it. I haven’t gone back since…
We brought my daughter’s clarinet to have a few pads replaced. We were told that the instrument was generic brand and we should look into getting a nicer one. We purposely did not buy our daughter an expensive clarinet because she was in 6th grade and she’d never played before. I told.them to replace the few pads and we’d look into a better clarinet if she made the advanced band. They quoted me a price for the few pads and we could pick her instrument up in a few days. When we went to pick it up we were told the cost was over $200. Apparently they changed most of her pads and not just the few we’d talked about. They never called to ask if we wanted this much work done or to let us know the cost before taking it upon themselves to do it and expect us to pay the outrageous amount. It didn’t make any sense to me if they said the clarinet was off brand, etc. You’d think they’d ask if we wanted to spend that much to fix it. We only paid $50 for her new clarinet on Craigslist and would have put the $200 into buying her a nicer one instead of paying to fix the one she has. When I confronted them about not asking before doing such an expensive repair, they were non apologetic and basically pay the $200 or they keep her clarinet. We paid it, but will never go back again.
I HATE this place. They are very rude. When I came in they asked me things like “have you ever dropped your flute” in a very rude tone. I was tempted to just walk out of there and go to Southeastern. All they did was fix a leak and charged me about 60 dollars. When I picked up my flute they played it without my permission and basically told me I had a bad flute. The next time I needed a repair I took my flute to Southeastern and they did a wonderful job. Yes, both stores are a little over priced but Southeastern does a flawless job and is very polite.
14. Walgreens
Address: 274 Sutton Rd, Owens Cross Roads, AL 35763 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
I go here way too often. Love the staff, it feels welcoming like a corner country store.
Always friendly!
Nice clean polite a bit to slow on the day I visited.
the recipe is way too long
Definitely not my favorite Walgreens location, the store has an odd layout making it hard to find what your looking for.
Pharmacy is absolutely useless if you need same day service. Pharmacy does not even answer phone calls.
I understand that the pharmacy can be busy at times but every single time you need a prescription filled that isn’t a maintenance medication you have to wait hours. It is ridiculous especially when you are sick and you have to wait and wait and even when they say to come back at a specific and it still isnt ready. I will be transferring my familys medications.
This Walgreens is the worst! They never have what you need. The drive through is a complete joke! They will have you waiting for long periods just to tell you that they don’t have your medicine. Even getting a simple passport photo takes forever, and that’s when it’s working. It’s sad that I have to go to other Walgreens just to get what I need and better service.
15. Valley Conservatory Hampton Cove Studio
Address: Studio South, 5732 US-431, Brownsboro, AL 35741 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
My boys play guitar and drums and like to rock out! This school is a perfect fit. They are able to play the kinds of music they like without sitting through boring scale practice but they also learn the technical aspects of music. Looking forward to their first “showcase” (aka recital).
Great School, Fun Teachers, and the Bass Guitar teacher is the best ever.
Wonderful teaching environment
17. Smoke Cove
Address: 6585 HWY 431 South, 6585 US-431 ste A1, Owens Cross Roads, AL 35763 , Owens Cross Roads , Alabama , United States
Super friends stag!! I absolutely love Taylor she was so helpful!
Love love love this vape store and the girl in there is amazing her name is Taylor and she is the sweetest!! I definitely recommend this store!!
Love the staff! So helpful and sweet! I don’t go to any other smoke shops…ever! I had just stopped smoking and started vaping few months back, and the girls working at the time( I’m horrible with names) we’re so helpful and answerwd my million questions with no problem! All the girls who have worked there have been amazing! Great prices and they make sure to get and keep what your product in stock as much as possible! Super great place!!
Never answers phone, open sign on door but it is locked yet time on door says they should be open.
Again I will never shop this place
Taylor is so rude and is always on her phone. To my understanding the man at the store I just left a review on are together so this is just double nasty trouble for this business. Will never recommend this store ever again as well
Highly upset with this smoke shop. Bought a vape a week ago, recommended by the girl who sold it to me. It worked one day and stopped working. I went back two days later and no one was in the store. Go back today and they wanted to sell me the vape for half off. No replacement or any form of customer satisfaction. I do not recommend this vape shop.
18. Redbox

Very impressive professional analog recording studio!
Fantastic recording facility for anyone interested in getting great tracks in a pure analog environment. Tremendous attention to detail goes into every session here, ensuring the best sounds possible.
