Worth the wait for a custom build- received the guitar, beautiful tone, good intonation, excellent action- and the body is a piece of art
Everybody has a weakness, I buy ukuleles. I’ve bought over 30 ukes and have had some great ukes and some that make good gag gifts. Bought one of their Cocobolo wood Baritone Ukuleles. Had some worries, since their luthiers were overseas. Turned out I didn’t need to worry at all. The ukulele was beyond expectations.
My wife states it is simply the most beautiful ukulele she has ever seen. And she grew up just down the road from the Kamaka factory and has a bit of that Hawaiian uke snobbery. This is not one of those ukuleles that was made to be wall art, but it is a player with a deep rich sound. It is has that fullness of tone you get in those Martin and Kamaka high end ukes.
Soundwise I would compare it most to a Favilla Baritone – but the beauty of the wood and expertise in fit and finish goes well beyond my old Favilla. If you want a beautiful ukulele that sounds like it looks, by all means give John Paul and the guys at Pinol Guitars a call. They are good people who take justified pride in their instruments. They communicate well and take the kinda care with your purchase you would, if you were shipping it to yourself.
If I ever make that jump to guitars they are on top of my list, I expect nothing but good stuff from Pinol Guitars.
Great guitar, great sound!!!
Terrible experience with owner. Will update when resolved.
This place doesn’t exist anymore. Went to address and it was a tax place
3. Melo Groove Steel Orchestra
Address: 5401 FL-7, Tamarac, FL 33319 , Palm Aire , Florida , United States
My son is learning to play steelpan and loving it. He has learned to read sheet music and how to listen to notes. He has learned how to play within a group. He is meeting new people and kids. Most importantly, he is introduced to his culture and embracing it.
Great band. Excellent music! They are incredible performers and musicians.
4. Video Musica Latina
Address: 191 S State Rd 7, Margate, FL 33068 , Palm Aire , Florida , United States
Great repair shop on site and had my amplifier fixed and ready for pickup well before estimated completion time. Very impressed.
Fantastic service!
I have been a client of Sam Ash for many years. The store in Margate, FL in particular has been very helpful. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I have and will recommend this store to my friends. Keep up the good work!
Considering we have very few music stores in SoFl, Sam Ash does a pretty good job, The Margate branch is a nice shop with a good selection, although they have the VERY frustrating habit of failing to put price tags on things, specifically the cables and other expendables. Of the two SA stores I routinely stumble into the Margate is nice but the North Miami branch is bigger and has a better “pro-audio” department. One other note, SA employees don’t follow you around and hound you as much as the other “chain music store”.
Its ok for an average music store
I haven’t been there in a while, but the last time I was there, I was so insulted that I swore I would never go back. I have been shopping at Guitar Center ever since this experience. I went in to buy a concert snare drum stand. The drum department manager (I don’t remember his name, but I’m told by my colleagues that he still works at this location) was the only person available to assist me. When I told him what I needed, he decided that he would show me a few snare drum stands built for drum kits. I kept telling him that these were too short. It’s meant for a drum kit! The player sits at a drum kit. I needed a concert stand because I would be standing. He then showed me a true concert stand, but instead of giving me a new one, he gave me the floor model and still charged full price for it. Now, that’s called being lazy. Sure it works fine, and there’s technically nothing wrong with it, but it’s the principle of the matter. I brought it home, but I decided that it was a little too tall for me. I brought it back two days later, and I told him (drum dept. manager) that I wanted to return it. Initially, I was going to exchange it for another stand, but he decided to argue with me about why I was returning it. He told me that two, or three inches doesn’t make a difference in terms of performance. I told him, it does if I keep hitting the rim of my snare drum resulting in rim shots on a frequent basis. He rolled his eyes at me as if what I had to say was ridiculous. I looked at him and said, please just give me a refund. He then charged me for a restocking fee. A RESTOCKING FEE ON A SNARE DRUM STAND THAT HE PULLED FROM THE SALES FLOOR!!! Guitar Center has only ever been courteous in every purchase I made. I was going to go to Sam Ash to do a complete overhaul of my cymbals, but after that experience, I went to Guitar Center. Over the course of a month, I spent about $2,000 on cymbals and hardware at Guitar Center. If only I had received proper customer service at Sam Ash, they would have had my business. I now refer ALL of my private students to Guitar Center, and anything they can’t get there, I purchase for them online at percussion specialty stores (i.e. Steve Weiss Music).
Asked if they had another adapter and the employee without looking to see what adapter said they didn’t have any more. After asking another employee there were more, right next to where he was. Great selection here, not the most helpful staff.
Make sure you speak with the technician directly before you go for repairs. I wasted 1 hour of my time going there to get an x32 repaired after being told that they did (by the rep or manager that answered my call) just for the tech to tell me he doesn’t touch them. Horrible experience.

9. Penny Lane Music Emporium
Address: 3038 N Federal Hwy Suite M, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306 , Palm Aire , Florida , United States
It’s a great place! Really friendly and professional! I enjoy working and being there!
I’m obsessed with this place. My boyfriend has to stop me from buying up all their Taylors! Great staff, very knowledgeable and personable.
I browsed a lot at Penny Lane before I made any purchases or repairs. It has been over a year since I started going there. I have taken in multiple ukuleles and my vintage banjo in for some fixing up. Everyone at Penny Lane has been positive and helpful. With regards to repair on my banjo, I felt the owner (Armondo) was very modest with his approach. It clearly needed some work, but his first initiative was to make sure I was going to use it so he only recommended the string change and an excellent book to get me started. Less than a week later I returned because one of my kids had accidentally broke a string already. Armondo was very kind to not only set me up with a replacement when I told him what happened, but he didn’t charge me for the extra effort. I’m sure it was something we had done in our home and he was very generous when I was honest about what had happened. He also offered to show me how to fix it myself in the future. I also have a tendency to want to buy accessories, and in the case of banjo I asked about the finger picks. He didn’t push an extra sale on me, rather encouraged me to jump-start things with the book and my bare fingers before getting too caught up. Since then I have proven I am committed enough to banjo to merit the upgrades we had spoken of. Last weekend I took my banjo in and when I returned it was upgraded and it wasn’t even as expensive as I had expected it to be. I do not have the feeling the staff at Penny Lane are looking to take advantage or over-do things that can be left alone. I have seen every indication that the staff value nurturing long-term customer relationships by helping those who are musically inclined to become more educated about their instruments and goals. I am grateful to have this local resource and have been nothing but pleased with each of my encounters.
I love to visit the Penny Lane Emporium! The ambience of the store when I walk in gives me just that warm fuzzy feeling of a cozy down home “pickin’ parlor”! The wide selection of quality musical instruments and accessories, combined with a dedicated and knowledgeable teaching staff makes it a great “one stop music shop” for pro and beginner alike. I especially enjoy the monthly (first Thursday) bluegrass jam sessions where fellow musicians can gather to play and exchange musical ideas in a fun and relaxed setting. Regardless of your musical skill level, you can have a wonderful time pickin’ and singin’ at The Penny Lane Emporium!
This store appeared to have a nice variety & I was greeted w/a smile. I’m a 68 old professional, drove from Lake Okeechobee to visit this HARD-TO-FIND STORE. My FICO is quite high, Platinum AMEX & 3K cash in my pocket for an above average tenor though they can cost 10K+. I went to examine a Uke & the owner freaked out! “NO, NEVER TOUCH, I’ll tune it & give it to you”; nice sales approach! Never again, will I ever walk into Penny Lane. I found his attitude & demeanor insulting, offensive & condescending; however, this is just 1 man’s opinion.
Owner seems like an honest guy but do NOT use for repairs of Digital Pianos. I was charged 95 dollars for a repair and as you can see in the photos the the key of A is clearly not aligned so it still does not play properly. They sent the piano out to be fixed and the repair guy wanted an ADDITIONAL 30 dollars for a part to fix it. Total cost would be 125.00 to make the repair. Charging 95 dollars and giving me back a piano that still does not work is unacceptable. This is NOT the place to take your digital piano for repairs. I can not speak for any other aspect of the store other than the Owner does seem like genuine guy.
*****Addition*** To respond to the owners reply I now have to take back my assessment of him as honest because I was certainly never told you would fix it at no charge other than the part or I would have agreed, You should have just let the review stand and not thrown in a lie to try and make yourself look better. If you’re willing to lie once you will certainly do it again. I recommend EVERYONE take their business elsewhere.
Not a fan, I found them very unprofessional and unreliable when it comes to a music store.
Hi , we built our house in 2010 in Plantation Florida and Bert and his wife came very highly recommended and I will tell you something we never had a chance to call them ever any sort of complaints , what a wonderful job they did in our house and of course we have always referred them to lots of friends and family.
Great professional with excellent knowledge and service, have worked with many Audio/video / automation companies worldwide, one of the best
Thank you
Bert’s team is second to none. I am so impressed with their ability to integrate everything through an easy to controller app on my phone. What a life changer. Working with everyone on their team is like having my own team of geniuses.
I’m still waiting for a phone call back from 2 days ago that I left a message with Alyssa.
Also, never got called back from 2 previous messages Technical support us horrible.
Why would I bother to pay a monthly fee for this kind of service!
Had a surveillance system installed February, 2017. Within a few months, one of the cameras failed. Two attempts to repair in the spring failed. Next appointment due to scheduling was in October and was told by the technician the camera was almost too hot to touch. Notwithstanding, a new camera was installed in late October. 1st Priority wanted to charge $125 for the service call to fix a camera that had failed shortly after the install, and which two prior attempts also failed. After discussion, 1st Priority waived the service charge. Now, less than 2 months later, the same camera failed. 1st Priority wants to charge to fix it. Not going to happen. After 3 failed attempts to fix something that hasn’t worked since shortly after the install, I will find another installer, fix the problem and deal with this company in another forum.
What can I say about Scott and his talent, professionalism and skills.
Always well prepared to play a vast array of instruments- yes he is that skilled and always ready for any ceremony, reception venue.
The music from his saxophone is absolutely beautiful, especially on the beach. All my brides say how wonderful it sounded and how it just added that elegant touch.
Scott always works well with others and extremely accommodating- pick a song he can play it. Allow his expertise to guide the melody and tone.
You won’t regret it!
Scott is such a talented and professional musician. He was probably the easiest vendor I worked with for the wedding. He was great with communication throughout the planning process. On the wedding day, he showed up on time and was so flexible considering we had a tropic storm brewing and had to rework things. He has an amazing talent and I would recommend him to anybody.
Scott played at my wedding and he was fabulous! Very talented and I highly recommend!
16. Trunoyz Recording Studios
Address: 5460 N State Rd 7 #222, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33319 , Palm Aire , Florida , United States
The best experience ever I can’t even tell you by words how amazing it was
Good vibes from the time we meet. Sergio our Engineer was the bomb…whatever they paying you…they should double it! Also easy to book.
Eddie is by far a super humble guy knows his art very well. With over 25 years experience it shows. So go no further and lock in a session. He will put a huge smile on your face when he’s completed the project.
Very unprofessional and disorganized. I booked a session online for one hour for $110 for a Friday night with an engineer for my teen daughter. The song was already recorded and she just needed it mixed etc. I tried calling a week before the session and their 800 number on Google is disconnected. First red flag. Their website is also now down but I was able to locate a local number which turned out to be some Google voice number where no one answered or returned my call. The online booking link (via Google) gave me the option to pay now or pay later. I’ve never worked with this studio before so on the air of caution I chose to pay once I get to the studio. Thank God I did. When I arrived to the studio on a Friday night it was closed. No windows, no sign outside the door that says Trunoyz studio. The door just looked like a steal door in a prison. There is a tape over the doorbell with a note saying ring this bell. The studio is already in a high crime area so I already felt uncomfortable. At this point it’s giving SCAM vibes. I finally got someone on the phone using the local number and this guy is telling me oh if I didn’t pay in advance then the session gets dropped. Mind you the booking website didn’t say no such thing. Infact I received reminder emails and confirmation from them about my session time. Then he goes on to say the prices online is not correct it’s actually $200 for an hour! He said no one is there and the studio is closed. On a Friday night.. no one else was there to record? How good can they be? I do not recommend this place. It’s giving scam and or shell company ( cover up business for illicit activity) I ended up taking my daughter to a well known and reputable recording studio which has way better equipment because they are also a music school and charge far less than these weirdos.
Sarah-Kate appeared just at the right time – her knowledge of the impact of music on dementia is amazing. She is respectful, compassionate and skilled…plus her sense of humor is not to be ignored. She is a very talented music therapist and I am very grateful she came into the life of my spouse!!!!
Sarah-Kate has a true gift. She brought so much comfort and joy to my mom her last 8 months of life. She even played her favorite tunes at her visitation. If you have a loved one with Alzheimer’s this is a great way to bring them comfort.
Debbie Teague
Love love love!!! I take lessons as an adult and Sarah-Kate is wonderful! I have a learning disability with math that can affect my music playing and she is wonderful at helping me learn how to process my counts and timing while still having fun! She’s flexible, passionate and kind hearted. Highly, highly recommend.
18. Full Circle Music, Inc.
Address: 3302 NE 33rd St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 , Palm Aire , Florida , United States
Mitch the owner was great and cleaned my flute. He always answers the phone and the flute was ready to pick up in 2 days!
I’ve known Mitch since 1990 and have enjoyed doing business with him since then. Mitch is one of the few guys I trust withu personal saxophones. He’s an expert repair technician and a straightforward guy who goes the extra mile for his clients. Mitch does business the old fashioned way: through giving excellent service, fair pricing, and a handshake agreement. He’s also a lifelong friend.
Mitch is WONDERFUL. Huge assortment of instruments and amps. Repairs and fair pricing
Unique place worth visiting. Lots of guitar from second hand
DO NOT recommend! Guitar was shipped with no protection in two boxes that had been cut to fit and taped together, only one small piece of styrofoam in the bottom. The guitar arrived broken and is unable to be repaired. Request for a return and refund refused.
Horrible service. This guy will promise you the world and deliver nothing. His work is extremely poor. His turnaround time is even worse. This is one irresponsible business owner/operator. Take your business elsewhere. Don’t trust your hard earned money with this guy.
I am dumbfounded anyone can be giving this place more than one star. Complete hack. Brought a guitar in for a routine procedure, was most sloppy, amaturish job I could ever imagine. If you value your instrument at all, avoid this place at all costs. This is not a place for serious musicians or collectors. Is a tourist hole at very best. Beware.
I totally recommend this place. Very high professional and they helped us to choose the right instrument (flute).
Great store for band instruments.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Nice place great staff
Nice staff. Very helpful and the store is clean and not over crowded
Extremely knowledgeable staff but prices tend to be on the high end.
Needlessly expensive. And they won’t fix instruments that weren’t purchased from them? Waste of a store space. Don’t waste your money and time. I hope they burn down in a fire.
Worse customer service on the planet! Please use them ONLY if you must. There are one or two good staff, however the management is cold, lack basic customer service, heartless and possibly prejudice. Please note of the reviews they have how many are one star reviews. The are all in the last year. SPEND YOUR MONEY AT PLACES LIKE SAM ASH!!
None of the staff knew what a drum major mace was.
