Great guitars and stuff. Knowledgeable folks work there…O.G. excellence
Really helpful guys, good advice and really like the guitar I bought! Thanks!!
Had a question on a 1964 Martin D-21 that apparently had the bracing scalloped by Frank back in the day (70’s?) but, the guitar itself is extensively but well overhauled by other luthiers including a back and sides refinish by a Collings guy. Frank confirmed that he may have done some work but definitely not all work on the guitar and that was extremely helpful to my understanding of the history of this instrument. The thing sounds ridiculous, so it’s all good either way. It was an honor to speak with a master craftsman but to entertain my silly guitar questions with the patience of a monk, thank you.
Very friendly. Super knowledgeable.
Great customer service and good selection of guitars, accessories and other instruments.
Very helpful associates!!
Cheating.
I once went to the store and looked for a limited version guitar. The sales people told me to leave my phone number and said that it would arrive in two months. I double checked if it would be the exact model and that guy was super confident. After that no one contacted me and I went to the store again two months later. This time they showed me a different model and said that the one I was looking for were not available for a long time.
What a waste of time! I will never deal with them again.
Nicely done Parkey way to bully an old retired American! Behavior like this would and will never happen in Russia!
As far as know, this is the only store which sells professional grade brass intruments in the silicon valley. I tried several cornets and bought a Getzen Eterna here. I have been quite satisfied with both the intruments and thestore.
This place is good if you have a high end musical instrument. I went in to repair my sons trumpet and they basically told me that they wouldn’t service it because it wasn’t a high end thousand dollar instrument. Too bad, I was actually looking to buy him a new intermediate trumpet for his birthday here in the next few months but they will not be getting my business.
Steve Boughman went out of his way to degrade and mistreat me. The man was incredibly rude and condescending when he tried to sell me a saxophone in poor condition. Worst experience I have ever had in a music store. Disappointed and ashamed as a local musician that these are the types of repair people we have to deal with. Take your business ANYWHERE else.
5. Palo Alto Violins
Address: 420 Olive Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94306 , Palo Alto , California , United States
I bought a violin from Larry. He listened to my feedback and preferences and worked with me until I was perfectly happy with the finished product. Great experience, fair price.
Very good violin maker
Larry repairs and builds violins, violas and cellos. He is truly a master at his craft. I have had two violins repaired and they come back sounding better than ever.
One of my students had an extremely negative experience shopping for their instrument at Palo Alto violins. Larry made racially charged comments to them about the kind of customers that he liked and they warned me to remove him from my list of vendors.
We re-started our lessons shortly after Shelter in Place in March and School of Rock has been great. The communications have been terrific, the instruction excellent, and it’s been a real gift to my daughter.
My son enjoys his 1:1s and band practice.
School of Rock has been a great experience for my daughter. I was originally just looking for private guitar lessons for her, but the school of rock program combines the private lessons with weekly band practice and performance. She loves the band and has made good friends, and it motivates her to practice more. Great program.
Great folks!
My child has been taking lessons for over almost 2 years now. He started with drums and electric guitar recently.
They helped him develop genuine interest in music, and so he looks fwd to practicing at home.
Love the place. Great teachers! But I am shocked by how insensitive the Eric at front desk could be. I understand that the No show policy is tough because they have to pay the teachers. Yes I get it. But the way he relays is “No matter if you die or kid dies or any one dies in the family, there is nothing we can do about it”. Shhh! Chill!!
May be don’t give him front desk duties if he can’t handle people. I feel very sorry for the owner or management of this place.
What a morbid and insensitive way to communicate.
A few days back spoke to a gentleman, may be not so much of a “Gentleman”, about the program, fees, and policies over all. It was a turn off. May be I caught him on a bad day. One star because I only spoke to him and the way he explained to made me think, I should find another place. Seems very inflexible place especially if you have young kids.
I am disappointed with our experience at this place. Here are the reasons why:
1. The class neglects to teach fundamental music concepts such as notes and rhythm to the kids. This lack of foundation is a significant drawback.
2. Rather than gradually introducing beginners to these basics, they immediately thrust them into rehearsals with more advanced children. This approach is demotivating for newcomers who are still learning.
3. My child expressed a clear disinterest in attending these classes, which is a testament to their dissatisfaction.
4. As parents with limited musical knowledge, we attempted to supplement at home with various apps, but it became evident that children need proper instruction and practice in the basics before tackling complex songs.
We provided this feedback to the teacher on multiple occasions, but they merely suggested that we encourage our child to practice at home, without addressing the core issues.
This dissatisfaction has persisted through the third class, and when we requested a cancellation, nobody showed any interest in understanding or rectifying the situation.
If you are seeking a beginner’s music institute for your child, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere, as this place does not meet those needs.
