Rick is the nicest and actually one of the most talented musicians and music shop owners i have ever met. Good honest prices, Great customer service and vibe in there. Drums, guitars bass and more.
A lot of cool guitars and analog type gear. I went in because I was looking for a new MIDI controller, and some other odds and ends Having to do with doing work on a DAW. There was nothing for my computer recording. It’s a sick store and the customer service was great.
Rick is very nice, has a great selection of guitars, basses, amps and so much more! and he setup one of my guitars and made it play 100x better! not to mention the amazing prices he offers compared to other local stores in the area! definitely recommend Rick’s over any other store!
I had Rick set up my guitar. He did a Fantastic job. Fast and reliable. One day service. I would Recommend him all who needs guitar service. AAA++++
Rick is a great guy, and there’s always a gem or two hanging on the wall. Good prices, too!
Last Saturday I took my most prized possession to Rick, I paid to have a set up and new strings put on my Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute pro. When I got it home I pulled it out and wanted to play it. I noticed right off the bat that Rick took a Utility knife or some other tool and shaved off the binding all around the fret board The fret board has gouges all the way around and the frets stick out and gouge your fret hand when you try to play it. My guitar is completely ruined! I haven’t slept in several days I’m so pissed. I in no way implied, asked for or mentioned that he do this to my guitar. I can’t even open the case it makes me so sick! I would not recommend Rick to anyone again. Rudy Rodriguez Nampa Idaho
3. Dunkley Music
Address: 513 W Karcher Rd, Nampa, ID 83651 , Parma , Idaho , United States
I am very impressed with the extremely friendly and helpful customer service that the Nampa store manager, Shelby, gives to me and other customers. Whenever I need to find music festival pieces for my piano students, she gets them for me as soon as possible. If the pieces are not in the Nampa store, she has someone from the Meridian store bring them over saving me gas and time. Most recently, Shelby spent time calling all over Idaho to other Dunkley Music stores and the Chesbro warehouse to find a piano duet piece I needed. That makes me a very happy customer!
Originally I was unhappy with the outcome of the service I had received. I put this in a review and immediately got a call from the owner of Dunkley music!! Mark took the time to listen to my frustrations and quickly remedied the situation, even better than I hoped or expected. I am stunned at the level of customer service, the care for the community, and the individual attention I was given from each of the employees I had contact with. I can’t say enough how impressed I am with the way this business is run. It’s no wonder they are a foundational part of the Idaho business community. Thank you so much Dunkley music…. I’m almost speechless ❤️
I love going in here, mainly for Deborah! She has the store so well-organized, and really knows her stuff. She’s always attentive (but not TOO much) and helpful. She needs to do some training for the employees in their other store!
Would not recommend. Very unwelcome vibes. Zero chill music store vibes lady just wanted us to leave the second we got ther. The lady I dealt with was rude and tried to gouge me for my money.
4. Dorsey Music, Nampa
Address: 1231 Caldwell Blvd, Nampa, ID 83651 , Parma , Idaho , United States
Nice friendly knowledgeable staff. Comparable prices. Wide selection of instruments and accessories for every Musician. They also give. Music lessons as well. I had the pleasure to speak with Derek on the phone first, then I went down to the store and met up with him. It is easy to find and easy access from Caldwell Blvd. There’s plenty of parking.
I found out that when you purchase an item, they automatically warrant the item in the store. We conducted our business. I will go back for all my Musical needs.
Very nice and had good information on several instruments and accessories.
Mr. Dorsey has always been very helpful and everything. He looks into your best interest. Always very cheerful. I appreciate his honesty and kindness Also his store emoyees are vet helpful when it comes time to order new books
Everyone was nice and helpful
Nice staff, reasonable prices.
I needed drum parts and didn’t want to go to Boise. Great staff and the drum parts were on hand.
I will never give these guys business again. In my nine years of living in Idaho, I’ve visited this store three times – one to see what it was like, and two after that PURELY out of necessity. The staff have always been rude, narcissistic, and degrading. If you don’t like a certain brand but the associate does, he will openly say why your opinion is wrong. If you say you like another music store around town (Guitar Center), they’ll question this, and practically demand that you come to their store instead. Bottom line – don’t waste your time. Their prices are higher (no matter what they tell you), and their service is abominable.
Ok customer service could use better skills and there prices are kinda expensive compared to American Music and Guitar Center really not the best music shop
First off nice store and good selection. My issue is that when I bought a less expensive guitar and had an issue with it they brow beat me saying I should have purchased a more expensive guitar. I had an acoustic guitar that my children bought me took it in because it was barely playable and they asked me why would I get a cheap guitar instead of making the one that was a gift playable. The worse type of customer service you can receive is a condescending sales person. If you don’t want to make a guitar playable don’t sell that brand of guitar. And if you do sell it at least make it playable and be respectful of your clientele. It’s like your pushing your local people into going to a big retail seller because you have no sense of what it is to be in a community. I have made multiple purchases from them and unfortunately have made my last.
5. Dunkley Music
Address: 3410 N Eagle Rd, Meridian, ID 83646 , Parma , Idaho , United States
Dunkley’s is a first class music store…great staff, the best brands, and always helpful.
Cindy always handles any special orders I need
Promptly and efficiently!
Thanks!!!
I love Dunkley Music Store! Good selection of music, great staff, and very nice Steinway recital hall. I’m also very happy with their tuner’s work. I highly recommend this guy, who’s name is Jared Phelps, he knows what he is doing. He tunes my Kawai grand and it sounds great.
I’ve been to Dunkley’s a couple times for guitars, and they’ve always been helpful. This last time I went, I was in search of an electric guitar for jazz band. Their selection was slim at this time, but we found the perfect guitar at a great price. It was actually marked down by a lot because they left some of their guitars on sale even after Black Friday, so I really scored! I recommend Dunkley’s for sure, especially when it comes to guitars.
I have bought a Kawai CN25 from Marion in a total of sale price of 600 plus 13 month renting period. Ends up with about 1645 U.S dollar. I am really happy with what I’ve purchased. And Marion is very nice on settling the deals with me.
Nice location. For service, I prefer the Nampa store.
Back when Dunkley’s was in-town in Boise, I was an avid customer…they always have been professional and friendly all-in-one! They still are.
All of my musical equipment, specifically my violin and flute for school orchestra/band, came from here. And I am impressed with it nowadays!
GOOO Dunkley Music!!!
This would be a wonderful music store if it wasn’t for the poor customer service for the folk who come in who are judged based on appearance and/or their apparent wealth or lack thereof. I have been playing piano and trombone for more than half my life now and my daughter is about to enter 6th grade. She has tried the trombone but is more interested in playing tuba. The staff told her she was too little, that the other instrument she was interested in — bassoon — was “really rare,” [too] expensive, and that starting on a double reed instrument was a really bad idea…oh, and did I mention that she was just way too short to play the instruments she wanted? This is not their place to decide and I have played alongside MANY petite, thin, and amazing female tuba players. Staff should not provide input on what instruments myself or anyone else “should” play, nor place any limits on their customer. Their job is to sell instruments and they can do so without being condescending or insulting.
Update: Just noticed I had a response. Must have missed the email on it. I hear what you are saying but telling me October when school starts in August is a no go.
I appreciate the response, but it has not changed my mind. If I cannot get service when I need it then I don’t need to spend other money there either. My review has done nothing for your rating. Just lets people know where we stand if we do not purchase or rent an instrument through you.
Flute Maintenance
If you bought your flute or are renting it from Dunkley, you are golden for maintenance. If you did not, they do not want your business. At least that is what I was told today when trying to take a flute in for maintenance. I called about a week before school let out to ask about this and was told to bring it in after a music camp. It was stated that it was not purchased through them at that time and they were willing to take it and do maintenance. It would be about three weeks.
Due to the large number of instruments for school I was told they would not accept any unless it was purchased or rented from them, but if I wanted to wait until October they would take it at that point. Shouldn’t school instruments be done before October???
Well thanks for your honesty and to the point wording of your message. I used to like coming in here, guess since my flute maintenance money is no good here neither is my other money.
Thanks for the direct message that if you are not a Dunkley instrument owner, you are not important.
Message received.
Pooor customer service , employees standing around and acted like we were bothering them to serve us
6. Owyhee Mountain Fiddle Shop
Address: 4211 SunnyRidge Rd, Nampa, ID 83686 , Parma , Idaho , United States
Sort of hard to find, being tucked away almost behind the new apartments.
Staff are friendly and helpful. They stayed after hours to finish up providing great customer service.
Rental instruments are well priced, recognizing that they do show quite a bit of wear.
Can’t say enough good things about this place. They’re incredibly kind, knowledgeable and helpful; and you can tell that they genuinely care about helping you find what you need instead of just selling you something. I look forward to giving them more business in the future.
Friendly people.
Helpful staff! They got my son’s trumpet soldered and shined!
I need a trumpet mute and I don’t know if Blue Rider has one! Can someone help?

Mediocre selection. Disinterested staff. No masks.
Awesome baby grand pianos and many other instruments, very friendly staff

RENTER BEWARE! Insurance on rented instruments does not cover accidental damage. You are better off going to Dunkley and renting – their insurance DOES cover accidental damage. We found out the hard way and were first told that the insurance would cover the damage, then told it would not, and we were treated very rudely by the old guy who works there – I don’t think he can have a conversation without interrupting.
Rented a cello. The gave me student cello. Didn’t want to add note stickers on but gave me a pack for 8.00. This was the worst instrument I have ever seen. It could not be tuned. And the sound was pretty bad. I took it back in 3 days asked for a refund to which I received a prompt NO. Then I said to the man at the counter if you give this cello to a kid it’s going to turn him or her off to playing it. I imagined he would say I will take a look at it. But instead he came out swinging and proceeded to tell me off. I felt upset and hurt somewhat when I left. Went to Dunkley music they have better instruments and kinder people working there. They offered to add the stickers on without me asking. That was an easy 70.00 for Welch!
I called them to replace the hair bow of my violin and the strings they said they can do it. When I visited them they Saud they can’t replace the hair bow but only the strings so I had to to another music shop.
