The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable on a large variety a musical instruments, repair and care of all types of instruments, lessons and products to further your enjoyment and participation in the art of music!
Very knowledgeable. Excellent service.
Lance and Tracy are nice folks. They have a good selection of strings and accessories. Neat place for obscure instruments.
3. Spicer’s Music
Address: 2140 E University Dr K, Auburn, AL 36830 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Helpful staff. Great selection of electric instruments!
Good atmosphere.
Never a dull moment and never a question that can’t be answered. With a pro staff and a selection of instruments you’d expect at a big city mucic store, Auburn is lucky to have such a place for artists new and seasoned. Family owned and operated, you’ll see why this place has been voted one of the top mucic stores in the nation.
Great assortment of instruments staff very helpful my wife enjoyed the visit she plays guitar more visits to come
Clean well set store. Everything is easy to find amd the staff great you willingly and cheerfully. This store is recommended.
Lots of variety. I didn’t even buy anything, but asked one of the staff several questions about a few of their guitars and he was very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The store itself looks pretty cool and has a nice flow to it. A cool spot to check out some good instruments. Parking can be sort of a pain during peak hours during the day, but overall it’s a good choice to visit anytime
Stoped in today to pick up some stuff.guy behind counter would not put his phone down to see if I needed any thing.
No good
Great selection and helpful staff.
4. String A Long
Address: 24823 Canal Rd # 3, Orange Beach, AL 36561 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
If you find yourself in need of Some new “Strangs” and such i suggest stopping on in and see old Top Hat he will hook you right on up. My favorite place in L.A.
Top notch service, suoer friendly, a place where you can get help from working musicians
Good price for guitar rental and Tophat is a great guy!
Really small but some nice stuff.. Jack was really friendly
Had a good time with some friends.
Door locked during hours.
Closed during operating hours. Although there was a sign on the door, most days 9 till ??. What a way to run a business.
Awful!
5. Art’s Music Shop, Inc
Address: 4647 US-280, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Probably one of, if not the best music store in the Birmingham area. They market towards musicians of all kinds – beginner to semi-professional/professional. Very clean establishment and helpful/knowledgeable staff. If you’re looking for a great place to fill most all your music needs, look no farther, you’ve found it here!
Nick in the guitar dept is the best around! Knows his stuff and might show you a few tricks!
changed to 4 stars because service isn’t as good as it used to be. It is now only ok. Was also very expensive.
Attended a Breedlove Guitar Showcase. Art’s Music Shop in-store acoustic guitar lineup includes Breedlove, Michael Kelly, and Yamaha.
Very helpful but the instruments are pretty expensive
I laid way electric drum set I paid it off in 3 months when I came to pick up my drum set they gave me the display set on the floor they didn’t even bother to clean it and and dumped everything in the box and hand it to me, when I got home I was very disappointed so I called them and they said this is what you purchased. After long talk to their manager they decided to give us a new one. And send me a card for customer satisfaction to know how they treated me. If you’re planning to Layaway anything make sure to tell them I wanted to be a brand new never used and when you buy it open it in the store to make sure you get what you pay for.
SCAM! Just buy an instrument off Amazon with Affirm or some other if you need to make payments. The markup isn’t justified by the TERRIBLE and antiquated policies and customer service.
AVOID! THIS IS A SCAM!
No words!
6. Andy’s Music
Address: 1412 Hillcrest Rd, Mobile, AL 36695 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Best place in Mobile for all your music needs. They are very friendly, helpful, and personable. They offer to help if you need it, but don’t follow you around, which is wonderful. They have all the sheet music I need and they also offer various types of music lessons. This is way better than Guitar Center. I will always come here! Such a friendly place!
This is my second time buying from Andy’s Music. Competitive price and fast shipping. Highly recommended.
Locally owned family business with a great staff, competitive prices, and professional friendly service. Andy’s music is where I shop for all my instrument needs. They also have a large selection of band instruments for your students with a great purchase program. In short they are just good people.
Very nice place got whatever you want music wise
Good product…shipping packaging sucks USPS destroyed the packaging and this is the third baton I ordered. Somehow they keep survive the beating…
Great staff. Not pushy
Terrible place to do business. Failed promises and wasted time. Not willing to negotiate. Will not answer questions directly and instead will offer you a service plan. My daughter brought her clarinet in multiple times and they said nothing wrong with it. Today they said it has needed regulated for over 6 months. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. They are only in it for the money.
Previously, when my daughter brought the clarinet in to be looked at for the continuing problem, we were going to buy a new clarinet when they offered no interest for 6 mos. financing. The associate told me to go to the website and I wasted about 45 minutes worth of time to find out they required over 20% interest, to the tune of well over $300. When I asked the associate why what they told me was false, I was told they have no control over what happens on the website with the financing.
Contrary to the response given to this review, none of what was offered here was mentioned in the phone call. The clarinet was brought in and told nothing wrong with it. I went to another music store and had my daughter buy a professional clarinet for not much more than Andy’s wanted for the Intermediate.
I specifically asked in my phone call if there are any incentives offered and was flat told no.
The response by the owner is crafted to make you think they are great at service by mentioning the rental and the last service time, but if they were really that great, they would know that the clarinet is currently in their shop for regulation. If it has only been 6 mos. since it was serviced and there is a problem with it where it has been brought in at least twice to be looked at since then, why was I told today on the phone that it has needed a regulation for 6 mos?
I now know there is another option in MS and should it still not work when we get it back, it will go there. Yes, in the past we have done business with Andy’s as they hinted at in their response, but when we are done with Andy’s, I will be extremely happy.
Felt like I was not wanted in the store also I felt like I was being judged on my appearance the hole time.
Andy’s is great if you know what you want, but don’t plan on testing anything. I had planned on buying an Epiphone half stack because the price was right and I needed something more powerful than my current amp. But I also had my eyes on two similarly priced Fender and Crate amps. In my limited experience with amp manufacturers, I wanted to test all three. I looked for about 15 minutes. I actually tested for about 10 minutes and at an appropriate sound level that was not obnoxiously loud.
Before I could decide on which one I wanted to spend money on with a limited budget of about $600 the sales rep came and suggested that I stop playing because the owner was becoming perturbed and that I was disturbing other customers. After looking around and realizing there were no other customers, I realized that either A) the sales rep was lying and being a jerk or B) the owner/manager was being a jerk. Either way, I decided that this was not a place that I wanted to give business to, so I took my business back home to Music-Go-Round in Mississippi where everyone is laid back and more than willing to help. I’ve even had the sales reps jam with me while testing out equipment there.
Granted, I’m not the most gifted guitarist, but what I play, I play well. There was no excuse for how I was treated. I’d take Guitar Center over Andy’s any day when it comes to music shops in Mobile.
7. Art’s Music Shop, Inc
Address: 1001 Commons Dr #2, Dothan, AL 36303 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
After a very poor experience across town at M’s Music (don’t go there), I thought I’d try these guys to see what they had. Not only did they have a great selection of electric guitars (albeit, mostly Fenders), but John was very kind and stayed around late to talk guitars and amps with me. Very courteous, very inviting, the kind of place I want to spend my money. I’ll be back!
They know music
Pretty good people and alot of music stuff
Very helpful and courteous to children who show an interest in music
Repair service is reliable, but prices for band instrument rentals are twice what Playground charges ($99/mo vs. $45/mo. for the cheapest option on my daughter’s french horn), and Art’s does a hard credit pull. Playground is fine with having a credit card on file, no ding on your credit score for a hard pull.
I walked in to look for guitar. When I ask for help the little boy said I can’t help you and walked off. I’m assuming because I didn’t have a mask on. I wasn’t asked to leave the store or that I couldn’t shop inside. The sign simply said “please wear a mask” There was no consideration that I have underlying conditions and cannot wear a mask.
You all should change your sign to “no mask no service“ instead of embarrassing people like you did.
I hate the fact that they take all your bank information Debit card checking account before they do a so called credit check. And then don’t get back in touch with you when they say and when you call them, o we sent you a letter on Saturday. But it’s ok. Paying over a thousand for a used instrument is not even worth it. So thanks for doing me the favor and not approving it.
Store manager Frank is absolutely rude, not type of customer service skills whatsoever.
8. The Fret Shop
Address: 309 Jordan Ln NW, Huntsville, AL 35805 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Very helpful and courteous staff. They patiently helped me while I made my decision and gave me great value for my trade in.
Cool shop in town with a decent selection of acoustic and electric guitars. Staff seem friendly I didn’t end up buying anything this time around but I’ll definitely be back.
This place is the only place that matters. Nothing else matters!
For real though. Best customer service here and this place is epic. It is a bit pricey, but they have everything you can ask for.
Nice folks and a quaint, decent size of a guitar shop! Unfortunately the service didn’t blow me away. I dropped off a guitar to have it cleaned up and checked for intonation. I don’t think any of the saddles were even moved. I ended up having to intonate the strings myself when I got a decent tuner in front of me.
So if you are reading these I bet you see the polarity of the reviews. People seem to love it or hate it. The difference is who you deal with there. I’ve always seen 3 guys and one young lady. There is a big guy with a goatee who isn’t friendly at all and you can tell he gets annoyed if you play with an instrument. Then there is a pretty generic looking guy that does most of the repair work. He is the embodiment of the a*hole guitar shop/ comic book store type guy. You’re beneath him and he makes sure you know it. If you can get past these two the young lady is very nice, and I’ve seen her make women more comfortable in what is usually a very male atmosphere. She also seems to know most of the store’s products equally so if you are looking for a dulcimer ask her. The last guy is the only reason I still shop there. Tall, skinny dude with a Rock a Billy haorcut. Hands down one of the nicest people I have ever met in a store. He could not care less if you came in there without a dollar to your name or a single chord to play. He loves music and wants to spread that around. If anyone there had the skill to warrant being haughty it would be him, but he is the last one there to do anything other than brighten your day. I take friends in there who have social anxiety etc. or are just nervous because they don’t play and he puts them right at ease. I would love to write this place off, but one great employee can make a difference. He doesn’t even know the difference he has made with some of my Army buddies that can barely handle being out of the house, but thanks to him there is one place they can go feel like a regular guy perusing a store. When my son is old enough he is who I want him to take lessons from. Truthfully he deserves a better place to work at.
Would’ve been 5. Almost everyone was great, especially the guy that rang me up, and my experience was mostly enjoyable, but grey goatee was rude when I asked for his opinion on some Marshall amps.
Guy that kinda looks like Santa clause is so rude
I had previously left a 3 star review due to being given a random string after one in the $15 set I had just bought was found defective as I put them on….did not want a random string, I wanted what I paid for!
Now recently I went in trying to find a small part I needed to repair my guitar. The guy behind the counter said, “I’m pretty sure the repairman stocks those. When my colleague is finished with the customer he is helping I will find out.”
The colleague in question was the owner, and when he got through he informed me, “you can bring the guitar in, we will write up a work order, put it in the queue, and see if we can fix it”.
I don’t care to pay someone to put on a small part that I can put on myself which probably cost less than $1! I drove to Harmony Sounds in 5 points and Bill (the owner) gave me one with a smile. That is twice that Bill at Harmony has helped me out by giving me a part free of charge. I know it’s a very inexpensive part, but I really appreciate Bill at Harmony’s attention and focus on customer relations. Bill gets all my future business which would have been split between him and the Fret Shop…..actually heading there today to finish paying off a $3,000 instrument I bought that day after he s graciously gave me the part I needed!
Will not return to the fret shop in the foreseeable future!
This used to be a good guitar shop. Now, it’s mediocre at best. If you’re not in the market for either a Taylor acoustic guitar or something cheap that’s a bit overpriced, you’re wasting your time going in this store. The strings are double the price I pay online. I would pay a little more for local service, but I’m not going to pay double. They don’t have most of the stuff that they show on their website, and they have a lot of small items in the store that are not on their website. The service is not friendly at all. The man behind the counter should try a smile once in a while.
They better get it together or they’ll be going the way some of the other local shops went, and sooner rather than later. The franchise and online stores will swallow them whole.
9. Homewood Musical Instrument Co
Address: 1712 28th Ave S, Homewood, AL 35209 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Bob Tedrow and his crew are the greatest. Very knowledgeable and helpful.
Never been there but bought a superb concertina from him 10 years ago.
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
Good product, Good service.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
10. Ron Partain’s World of Music
Address: 1914 Cogswell Ave, Pell City, AL 35125 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Ron and his wife were both so friendly. From the moment we walked in the door. I had taken my 13 yr. old grandson there to buy some picks and strap for his guitar. We talked a bit and found out he gives lessons. When we got ready to pay Ron asked my grandson when his birthday was. He answered and Ron said Happy Birthday! He gave him all the picks he had selected! Super nice people!
Large selection!! Beautiful instruments!!
It’s a standard small music store. There aren’t a lot of new high end instruments here, but they are all very nice folks.
Nice place. Good selection conveniently located.
I read reviews for this shop and thought it was an honest place to sell my gear. I walked in with an Epiphone AJ 220, with an Epiphone molded hardshell case I bought seperately, and an Epiphone “Snake Pit” 15w practice amp. ALL in like new condition. She plugged the guitar in and it was only the fourth time it had ever been plugged in. I never put the guitar in the case without wiping it down first. Look everything I listed up for yourself, and you’ll see what I lost. I messed up and let the lady know that I was in dire need of money for my family. The old guy asked where I bought it, and when I told him, he said he’d lost alot of business to “places like that”. No. I looked around the shop, and all he had was used gear that had been repaired and put up for sale. Junk. My guitar was the nicest instrument there! The reason he’s losing business is because he’s trying to sell junk and beating people in need out of what their instruments are worth. The lady acted like she was on Pawn Stars! If I hadn’t had needed the money really bad, I would have told her where she could stick her $200! That’s all they gave me for everything I brought in. Look up the items I listed, and you’ll see I did my part to support this business! The reviews I read must have been friends of theirs, because they definately misled me. Not fair at all.
Walked in today to look around and from the moment I walked in the door, the older gentleman (I guess the owner?) had his eye on me and was watching me like a hawk, made me feel unwelcome to be there. He asked if I was looking for anything in particular and when I told him very politely he didn’t have what I was looking for he arrogantly told me “I opened this store in 1973 and everything you see in the store is priced the same as you’d get it online” like ok bud I wasn’t complaining about the price you just don’t have what I was looking for. When I told him I wasn’t looking to buy today, and was just looking around he made a sarcastic comment about “well if you’re not buying, we can just put this back on the shelf” ??? I continued to walk around and look at some more product and he continued to watch me like a hawk until I got in my car and pulled out of the parking spot. All of my musician friends have recommended I don’t frequent this store, and I can honestly say, after that experience, I will not and will tell anyone that asks not to either. Lousy excuse for customer service.
11. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Waylon was a really big help today on helping my son pick the best guitar in my son’s budget. Very nice !
A very pleasant experience !
We always go here for our musical needs. I love the place. They are always friendly and helpful. I would recommend any musician to this place.
Good service very knowledgeable and helpful. The had what I needs at a very good price for a recording booth.
Helpful and kind! Will be back to see them soon.
Usually get good service, but I took my guitar nut to be repaired after my guitar took a spill. I let them know the guitar had fallen and hoped they would fix. The nut was replaced poorly but the guitar had a buzz. Took it back 2 more times. The last visit, the person in charge of the repair (2 weeks later)said I had heavy fingers and raised the stings to a height that made the guitar unplayable. I took to another repair shop and they repaired the nut replaced by Bailey Brothers found a couple of uneven frets repaired the frets adjusted the neck and had to re-setup the guitar from the disaster repair at Bailey Brothers. If in need of repairs I will never return to this store.
good staff well organize not bad products
Waited 15 minutes for someone to help me but instead was ignored. Ended up leaving empty handed. I literally just needed drumsticks and the person at the front was aware. Will never go back.
I explained to them thoroughly what I needed and they sold me the opposite! It all about sells and f**k the customers needs! Stay away from the southside location!
I came in here the other day and they were incredibly overbearing and checked in on me every 30 seconds. From the second I walked in they were all up in my face and insisted on providing an address and phone number whenever I paid which I fully expect to be sold somewhere. I don’t know if they’re struggling to keep the lights on or something but the amount of customer service was way too much and came across as pushy and rude. Literally just let me shop.
12. Gadsden Music Company
Address: 607 Broad St, Gadsden, AL 35901 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Great experience, and the sales people were very personable.
Super friendly staff helped me find the equipment I needed! Just wished for a better selection of tuba mouthpieces, hopefully including a few more advanced mouthpieces.
Alot of merchandice to choose from. The employees were ftiendly and helpful. It was a very pleasant trlp to the music store. My hat is off to the owners and associates ok f Gadsden Music Store.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Did offer alternatives to what I needed.
My son’s band director recommended this place. Staff was nice, and allowed my son to try out a couple of instruments. However, when I mentioned we wanted to do rent to own, they said they no longer do that. We could essentially only purchase outright or finance. When I asked about discounts, I was told they don’t do discounts, but it would be cheaper to just buy the instrument outright. As of today, they still have the rent to own program advertised on their website, along with discounts and advantages of the program, which is the main reason we made the 1.5 hour drive. I also found the exact same instrument for over $200 cheaper somewhere else. People seem nice, but this was really disappointing. Please don’t advertise if you can’t offer it.
Bad staff
The staff was completely rude
13. Guitar Pro’s LLC
Address: 224 Main St, Trussville, AL 35173 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Went to have my son’s guitar checked out because of string messed up. Very friendly and helped me out without trying to charge me an arm and a leg. Actually fixed my problem and tuned it and didn’t charge me at all
Friendly staff, help if wanted or will let you look
we brought in 2 guitars to be restrung & set up by the professionals, and they sound absolutely amazing in comparison to how they were when we brought them in. setup is a little pricey, but well worth the money for their time and the quality of sound. staff is very friendly and helpful too.
Have a decent variety of all different kinds of cords and instruments and the guitars rule great prices too. And the lady in there is always super sweet
Friendly staff they have a few harmonicas
Nice people. Nice selection of guitars and gear. They have a lot of strings to choose from.
WAS our trusted source for guitars and gear.
Took in a Seagull acoustic to have the battery and strings replaced at the end of December 2020(only having someone else do it because of the value of the guitar).
The battery went dead MUCH faster than normal (usually takes 6 months). We are very aware that leavi g guitars plugged in drai s the battery. That was NOT the case here. We took it out and found they had installed a promotional Progressive Insurance smoke detector battery in it. Instead of what we are used to getting, Energizer or Duracell. I called and was told that we should have told them we wanted a better battery. It cost us more than $30 for the strings and a battery replacement. No offer to replace it. The lady said they just use whatever is “handy”. I don’t pay for what’s handy. So much for being Pro’s. If the lady had simply apologized, that would have been the end of it. I wasn’t looking for anything other than to let them know that a substandard battery had been installed. When we brought it in initially, we asked for the strings to be changed and the battery replaced. No one told us at that time that we weren’t being charged for the battery, just that what we asked for was $30, if I had been advised of that I would have either asked for a better battery or brought my own. I hung up when her tone told me how disgusted she was that I called with a problem. As for my other reviews of other businesses you mentioned, I review honestly and fairly. If you notice, I have many very positive reviews of several companies in the area. I managed customer service depts with 4 Fortune 500 Companies in my career. Again, I wasn’t asking for anything except courtesy, which was unfortunately lacking. The lady I spoke with had a “how dare you complain” kind of attitude. (modified for clarity based on the reply from the company)
Accused me of taking out a screw, when all I asked was for the value of what it would cost to fix that. I fixed it myself 16$ out of my own pocket for a new screw, set of strings, and labor on my workbench at home. I thought about going to small claims court, for not selling me a guitar in the condition they claimed on reverb. I’d been looking for this guitar for a while, I didn’t want to just return it. I just wanted it in the condition that I saw it in and felt insulted when they instantly made me out to be at fault even after sending pictures moments after receiving it from UPS and to top it off I even have video of when I first opened it on the CCTV at work. Overall poor online experience.
I bought a guitar for $2,875 from this shop online and they listed it as mint condition. I had to take it to a local luthier to have the frets polished because they were so dirty the guitar was unplayable. The shop refused to even split the cost ($50), wow! Incredible.
14. Highland Music
Address: 3000 Clairmont Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
These guys are knowledgeable of just about any older, “classic” gear. There’s a bit of anything you might want and their stock is always changing. A cool place to check out!
Friendly staff. Best value if you need a guitar setup.
This review is for Harold, I had dropped my guitar off at another shop in homewood and it sat for four weeks without getting done, I wanted a bone nut, saddle and set up, needless to say I picked it up from there and took it to highland, Harold got my guitar on Tuesday and gave it back on Thursday playing better than when it was brand new! Absolutely awesome work, awesome speed and he was very friendly and helpful through the entire process, all my guitars will be coming to him for any of my luthier needs!
Gotta catch the right people in.. but good little music store..
Great selection of guitars. Staff is knowledgeable !!!
Hard to imagine this town without Highland Music. It seems like it’s been here forever, and it impresses on so many levels. Need a tech? See Harold. Need a custom-built amp or guitar? They can fix you up here. Want a new Fender or Gibson? They have that. Need lightly used gear? It abounds here. Strings, parts, accessories…all the stuff you need, they have. This is THE place traveling musicians stop by when they are in town, and there’s a reason for that. You should shop there, too.
I left this store just a moment ago after being asked to leave because I had not yet made a purchase. I had originally intended to pick up a few packs of strings for my acoustic, now I’m glad I had not. I stopped by today with my friend who had told me about this store. He has been a customer of this store before and had always told me the staff here was friendly and that they have great service. We spent roughly 45 minutes in the store before the man at the counter, whom we had previously overheard talking to another customer about us saying, “What’s the deal with these two jokebags?” told us to get out of the store because we had not yet bought anything. We promptly left the store and I soon received a text from my friend saying that he had gone back inside to try to clear things up with the man that was working the counter and he told me that the man said he was not feeling well and is looking to close the store early. So if his goal is to minimize the business they get to close up early, he is doing very well.
Very condscending and not friendly to younger people. Im not a know it all but some of the stuff the man was talking about wasnt correct. Rather go to bailey brothers theyre friendly and very nice
Pretentious and overpriced….typical music store snobbery
15. American Guitar Boutique
Address: 707 13th St, Phenix City, AL 36867 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Great service. I went with my cousin to have a guitar restrung and they cleaned the guitar and restrung it while we waited. I even bought a T shirt. Thank you for such a pleasant experience.
Great place, knowledgeable help and outstanding service. Just browsing their selection of guitars is a dteam! Stop in and check it out. You won’t regret it.
Tim and the staff are always more than helpful and one of the best business in the area best service I’ve ever experienced
Selection on acoustic guitars were limited.
Super friendly employees. Thank all of you for being so nice.
Venden cosas para la música a buen precio, hacen arreglos de instrumentos, y dan clases musicales!!!
Ended up paying twice as much as quoted for replacement of one peg on bass. Paid for two when only one needed replacing.
It took 6 weeks just to change the bridge and put some new strings on. They said they would call and they didn’t. Went to pick up the guitar and it has a huge chunk taken out of the neck! I will not be bringing anything to this store nor will I send anyone their way.
Plays way too high for stuff like that
16. Fretted Instruments
Address: 2906 Linden Ave, Birmingham, AL 35209 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
I’ve been going to see Herb at Fretted Instruments for the past 33 years. Simply put 33 years should tell you something. Herb is straight froward, honest, great banjo player and an all around great human begin. There is absolutely no other shop that comes close to what Herb has to offer. Go there, sit down, chat and pick and grin for a bit. You’ll become part of a family of musicians.
This is the best acoustic guitar shop in town.
Got very professional assistance in finding the right guitar, couldn’t beat the deal anywhere (I tried, it’s what I do). Super happy.
17. Tony’s School of Music
Address: 1800 4th St SW, Cullman, AL 35055 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
The guy there at the desk was very helpful. Not only did he find what we were looking for quick and efficiently, he also gave us tips and other information about the different levels of thickness on each reed. Very good place for beginners and for those who need more equipment.
My wife I really appreciate Mike!
He gave us an incredible deal on 12 string guitar and took my used case as trade in on new 12 string guitar case!
Customer service is outstanding, he is a people person and remembered my name.
Thanks again Mike,
Paul
The guys in there are really nice, and they were incredibly helpful getting me started on a new instrument. Very pleasant and knowledgeable
Great customer service and selection. We highly recommend Mike’s music. We have purchased several items and will be returning.
Will never shop there again. He doesn’t stand behind his product. Brought a brand new keyboard from him and didn’t even have it for 2 months. All of the A#’s/Bb’s went out and he wouldn’t even take a look at it or even offer anything to help fix his shady product. Thought I found a place to get good quality instruments at a reasonable price but definitely was wrong. Now I have to spend more money on a new keyboard. I will never shop at Mike’s Music ever again.
Came back for a second time hoping that it was better than a previous visit which occurred maybe a year ago. Nothing changed! Had a sarcastic attitude and told jokes. This guy has poor customer service. I wouldn’t dare step foot in there again after today.
19. Ellis Piano & Organ
Address: 1550 Montgomery Hwy suite a, Birmingham, AL 35216 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Beautiful piano selection with very friendly personnel. If looking for a good piano this is the place.
We loved Ellis piano! They go above and beyond and far as customer service! Very kind people!
Fantastic group of people. Very kind and helpful.
The staff was friendly, and they have tons of pianos and other equipment to choose from. The space is enormous, and is fun to just browse. They also do repairs. Call or stop by for any musical needs. Would go again.
my experience was questionable. they decide who they want …
Nice, helpful staff
20. 10,000 Hz Records
Address: 717A 1st Ave, Opelika, AL 36801 , Penedo , Alabama , United States
Great place with an awesome selection of affordable records.
Honest, great communication and reasonable prices. Zooropa by U2 on Vinyl is Sublime! Thanks Russ!
Love going to 10,000 Hz records they have some cool stuff in there and they will try to order the stuff you want!
Great place for Vinyls
It was OK didn’t find anything I needed and the mask requirement in 2023 was a bit off putting
Very dry emotionless staff but good selection although slightly inflated prices on audiophile items.
Comfortable store and relaxed atmosphere for browsing
Unfriendly and unhelpful upon arrival. Didn’t make any notions to offer help. “Let me know if I can help you” is one suggestion I would offer the employee at the desk to say when customers come in your store.
Good selection, but the guy who worked there with the black hair was extremely rude. It’s unfortunate that the quality of the selection did not match the quality of the customer service.
