This place an eclectic mix of antiques and hard to find stuff. From cast iron skillets to random rocks and minerals to toys of yesteryear, I find it nearly a country museum.
Always closed when we drive by
Don’t visit when it’s lunch time or the owner will kick you out because you’re just looking around and he’s hungry. Poor customer service
The owners are so rude. The sign said it was open but the front door was locked. I called the number and asked if they were open. In a very hateful and sacaristic voice he said “what does the sign say, it says we are open doesn’t it.” I said well your door is locked. He hung up on me and was very nasty to his wife about locking the door. Who needs that drama when shopping.
Owners were nice but they need to set out mouse traps or call an exterminator ASAP. I was in the store maybe 10 minutes and I saw at least 8 mice run across the floor. I was out of there!

They dress very, very well. Super nice people, quality instruments and hardware. Highly recommended!
I just moved to Conway, and needed my Martin guitar worked on. A friend who has used Palmers before, recommended I use them. I took my Martin acoustic in because the plug in jack would cut in and out! Ryan took it apart, cleaned the jack with contact cleaner, put it back together and it worked perfectly. The good news is, he did not charge me one penny! Now folks, that is service, and I will be back!
Great selection. Nice little place!
Usually busy because they’re good at what they do!
I was looking at electric guitars and they didn’t offer to let me plug any of them in. How are you truly going to know if you like one or not if you can’t hear the sound.
My guitar was in for repairs for about 4 months. Almost no communication was provided about status of the repair work. It’s understandable with Covid making it difficult to have parts shipped, but the lack of adequate communication was uncomfortably disappointing. I don’t blame the young individual who was working on my guitar, but rather leadership who should have provided direction on appropriate and timely customer service communication. It doesn’t matter to me that it would have taken considerable time for repairs. But the lack of communication stating that due to a backlog in parts, and it was just a waiting game, would have been enough. A 30 second phone call every couple of weeks or so to advise a customer that no progress has been made is better than nothing…it would have been enough to have left my guitar there for months longer. The ironic thing about all this is that I really like the store and the people at Palmer Music, so I will most likely continue to purchase my music supplies from them and I hope my experience there was a one-off….
Went in expecting to buy a new guitar on 01/26/2023. The man behind the counter was very unfriendly & unhelpful.
I found one I wanted to buy but I just didn’t really want to give my money to a person who didn’t know how to smile.
Another employee walked by and was even more emotionless than the other guy. I left feeling very unwelcome.
I will not be back.
Go to GUITAR CENTER instead (you can actually have FUN there).
Brian and Valley Piano are a Russellville institution, and even if you don’t have a baby grand to tune, you know you want a ukulele for your folksy teen with the great voice to put on their YouTube channel . They have a sweet, black, v-head Dean electric a-la Pantera I’ve been eyeballing too… Valley Piano does it all. Right. .
I just love music
Very friendly and knowledgeable. Good selection
Great people, a very old store
I went into to buy a guitar. Very small selection
Lots of sheet music and DVDs but it is all on the computer today. Wonderful people. I wish them well!
My visit was to test the integrity of an electric guitar I had. Spoke to the guy behind the counter. (The one with the gray streaked goatee). Told him I was preparing to sell it via Facebook, and all I want to do is see if it sounds as it should. He said it was ok I was like great thanks. The buyer was from outta town and was shopping for guitar supplies. She had just bought amp still needed a cord possibly more. Asked her to meet up there since she was just down the road. She wanted to go in do to the rain. Instantly he started ranting that he’s a business man a professional and I was shady for what I had done. I was very polite. My reply ( I’m sorry I brought you a customer sure she meet up with me to buy a guitar for cheap but she still may need something) she was there for his childish act. ( she replied I do need a cord) He didn’t even bother to respond to her. He looks at me says someone smells bad like cigarettes… Wow 0 stars for your sir. Where’s your public relations at. Your welcome for that sell.

Just a great little local guitar shop with an owner who goes out of his way to help you with what you need.
Very kind gentlemen is the owner and he is always trying to help someone. God loving man. Goes out of his way to help, especially with children. Good prices too.
Was not open
8. Quattlebaum Music Center
Address: 101 W Arch Ave, Searcy, AR 72143 , Perryville , Arkansas , United States
You will find good deals here, and the staff are so friendly!!
Very cool place in Searcy. Has a nice vibe… They had plenty of different affordable musical instruments… even cellos and a baby grand piano. I could hang out there all day but I’d want to buy everything and I’d go broke…
Decent selection for a smaller store. Good prices! I’ve bought and rented equipment from them for years. Friendly service!!
The staff are friendly, the products seem pretty good, and it’s generally a good place to fulfill your guitar-based needs. They also sell things beyond guitars, like music books for brass, percussion, woodwind, and other string instruments, which would definitely be helpful to anyone looking to learn. From my experience, don’t be afraid to ask seemingly stupid questions; Quattlebaum is a safe place for a beginner to reveal their lack of knowledge.
Friendly people, prices seem fair, selection was good.
They are selling stolen property.
Great home town store
I’ve purchased things from here before, but today, I felt as though my business was not wanted. I took a violin in due to having issues tuning it and the bridge popping off. Was told what I need to do. Told them thank you and asked my daughter if she wanted to look around. Was told to have a nice day. Was not asked if I needed help with anything else. Employee just walked away
9. The Musician’s Exchange
Address: 2221 Alma Hwy, Van Buren, AR 72956 , Perryville , Arkansas , United States
Great place with helpfull staff I’ve bougt all my gear from there and they’re great
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. They made renting my daughter’s clarinet for school a breeze and fulfilled my order within 24 hours. Upon picking it up, they were very accommodating and also briefed me on a few key things I would have not otherwise known about. Pro Tip: make sure your child does NOT peel the label sticker off, as you will be out 3-4 weeks to order a new one in the event you need to send it in for repair. Musicians Exchange makes renting affordable. Highly reccomend. This is also Northridge Middle School’s music shop of choice!
This is one of only a handful of places in the River Valley you can buy instruments and accessories from. It’s a place I can drop in quickly for new strings or sticks. They offer some set-up/repair services from entry to intermediate difficulty. Keep to the kids close (or at the house), as various instruments and/or parts are laying around in some areas of the sales floor, making for somewhat treacherous terrain and unclear pricing. Staff are generally friendly and helpful, though you may have to approach them directly for help. I prefer this myself. Glad they’re here.
Had a hard time trying any of the basses or bass amps….nothing was even plugged in…..had to run extension cords all over the place . Then the basses and amps were so crowded could not move to even try the gear out. Didn’t feel like rerunning power to the whole department to try any other amps out. Shame would have tried more gear out….but just wasn’t expecting to hook it all up myself. Sorry guys you lost a sale….take ten minutes plug In couple bass amps everyday instead of sitting out smoking…..dude you know who you are….you shut the door on my wife as you went back in after your cig break….seriously….Shame store has potential
This place is very small and crowded with goods. Most of the things are for those who really want to rock out. Lots of amps and electronic equipment and electrified instruments. Very little acoustic. The photos you see on Google maps don’t quite represent as much what you see in the store because it looks from the pictures like there’s more acoustic than they’re actually is. But the staff seem to be very good at helping customers make decisions.
#accessibility accessibility is poor. There is a super steep ramp step to get into the store and then it’s crowded inside. My friend on crutches with a large service dog had a difficult time getting around inside. I had a small guide dog and found the quarters very cramped. I’m just mentioning this so that people will be aware. Next time I go in, I will leave my guide dog at home and use a white cane to navigate.
The vast majority of the store has everything for electric instruments. There’s a little teeny acoustic room in the back which is so small that you barely have enough room to turn around and certainly not enough room to change your mind. Again mentioning so the people know what to expect.
Bought a brand new acoustic guitar here after years of using this store for my musical needs. The guitar wasnt staying in tune and i noticed the intonation was a little off as well. I took it back 4 days later and they offered me 100 bucks for it. It was brand new and i spend 400 on it and bought a 150 dollar case as well. Thats not the way you treat repeat customers. I will never be returning to this store again.
Dropped my guitar off before Christmas was told it would be ready 2nd week of January. Called 3rd week was told not yet. Called 1st week of February was told it was being repaired. Called 4th week was told it would be ready today or tomorrow. Still not ready. Called March 2nd was told still not ready had not started on it had no idea when they would start on it or when it would be ready. Then the smart ass says if I am in a hurry I could just come and get it he did not care.
Hate it I could not find a clarinet ,:(
10. River Valley Music Center
Address: 407 N Arkansas Ave Suite 5C, Russellville, AR 72801 , Perryville , Arkansas , United States
Love the selection and staff here. Their selection of Aria classical guitars is lovely, and their prices are fantastic!!! Everyone whom I have had the pleasure of visiting with has always been a delight to talk with as well. Was first referred up here by Josh over at Hippie Palace. Stop in and check them out; you will be pleased you did
Wonderful teachers very flexible schedules and I always feel at home being there!
I’ve been by here twice to buy a guitar case and sign my kid up for lessons. First time they were closed (not a holiday) and the second time, they were open but no one was inside.
Arrived around 1:00p.m. and doors were locked but lights were on. Luckily there was a kitchen gear store across the hall with the sweetest ladies running it (seriously, give them a visit they’re so nice) killed about 30 minutes in there before waiting on the hall an additional 20. Dude showed up and unlocked the door, I got excited, then he turned off the lights and relocked the doors. I just wanted some guitar string and a string winder… So yeah, Valley Piano was great, just go there
