New Vintage Strings performed for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, and they were amazing! They were very helpful coordinating details prior to the event, and I felt at ease knowing they would be there when promised. And they have a very long repertoire list, ranging from classical to modern pop and we had so much fun choosing selections that all of our guests would enjoy. We enjoyed their performance!!
Loved working with NVS. They sounded great and were a perfect compliment to our wedding at St. James Farm. They were well worth the price as they helped to make the event so special. Highly recommend! Thank you!
New Vintage Strings played at our wedding (4/25/21) and we couldn’t be happier. Jeremy, Emily & co. showed up early and were ready to play. We were running a little behind schedule (like most others do) and NVS were extremely accommodating. Every interaction from picking music to going over time lines was stress free. We danced our first dance to a song they played and it was perfect in so many ways. Our family and friends enjoyed listening to them work. We highly recommend reaching out to New Vintage Stings for your next event. You won’t be disappointed.

Harry is very nice and knowledgeable. Easy to work with and really cares about his customers.
Awesome
Very knowledgeable and helpful. Good prices!
Friendly staff that answered all my questions
Everyone is pretty nice, but I don’t like that you can’t reschedule the lessons after 10am
Extremely heartless employee named Janet and horrible cancellation policy. In short, my daughter developed a 104 fever and all we wanted was to make up the missed class. The owner told me she didn’t care, which is heartbreaking to hear when my 7 year old is sick and suffering. I am all for policies but when a child gets sick at 4pm it is unacceptable?! Kids have to be sick by 10am-with our current world many would appreciate keeping a sick child at home. All I wanted was a chance to explain and share my point but she cut me off and raised her voice and said she simply didn’t care. We have been attending the Music Barn for over a year with great attendance so it was unfortunate to hear the disregard for my child.
Never again buying from this shop.
Here’s the story: I purchased a guitar through Reverb. It arrived while I was out of town, and when I finally got home and plugged it in to play, I found that only the bottom pick up works. I cleaned it up a bit, bought a new cord, and tried again. Still no luck.
I brought it to my local tech to do a tune up, thinking maybe it was just some dust or dirt from shipping. I got it back and it’s still not playing other than the bottom pickup. The tech even said he took out the input jack and that the wiring there was fine, so it must be something within the wiring of the guitar/pick ups. Nothing in the description mentioned anything wrong with the pickups or the guitar. “100% ready to play!”
Considering I travel for work and my tech isn’t the fastest guy in the world, this whole ordeal took place over a few weeks. I’m not out playing every night or anything like that. Admittedly, this was a little long, but I didn’t think it was crazy to address this issue. Even clothing stores have 60 day policies. BUT when I contacted the shop they just said “too bad, we sent it to you several weeks ago.” So now I’m left with a guitar with one functioning pick up. Terrible customer service from a small business.
My instructor Jim was outstanding I would learn with him anywhere, anytime. The school itself is a different story. After my last lesson I told the owner I would call to schedule my next lessons. Unfortunately health issues prevented me from calling. The owner still charged me $180 for two lessons. I called and asked why I was charged and she said too bad, that’s your time slot and you missed your lessons. Not a very good way of doing business, especially for a veteran owned business. I will never leave my credit card on file again.
Mr. Choin,
Please do not address my behavior, I have acted in a most honorable manor for a person who had $180 dollars stolen from them. I am afraid you have been given miss information from an “employee” who I can only guess is your mother. I respect you for taking family’s word over that of a stranger, but that is where my respect ends.
If you had played a particularly great USO show in the Army and your commanding officer approached you with praise stating he was going to put up for a commendation or a promotion, but you did not hear anything for a month. Would you assume you were promoted and wear the higher insignia? I think not.
This situation is no different. The last time I was there I told Janet “I would call to schedule my next lesson”. When I did not call there is no lesson scheduled, not implied, not intimated, not suggested. Jim was not there specifically for me, he has had lessons before I was there for my lesson and he had a student immediately after my lesson. When I did not schedule a lesson with him, that time was free-time for him. He could have left and gone for coffee.
The partial refund of $60 by Janet, when I called and very respectfully requested a full refund, indicated that she knew she was wrong for charging me in the first place. Your reviews are very clear, this is a pattern with her of taking money with out rendering services and this practice must stop.
I thank you for your service to our country but obviously the Army band did not prepare you to serve the country or community honorably. For that I am sorry
5. Music Together Songbirds
Address: 1125 Wester Blvd, Hampshire, IL 60140 , Pingree Grove , Illinois , United States
Miss Amy has been a part of my 4 year olds life since she was 11 months old. I attribute my daughters love for music because of Amy. The songs we listened to would make her happy and also calm her down. My son was born prior to covid (8/2019). And due to covid the spring session was postponed and online. Miss Amy taught my daughter the love of music which is something myself and my husband could never teach her. Did I mention when she sang me a lullaby from our second class session years later after I had major surgery and she was “taking care of me” ? . 10/10 recommend Miss Amy. We will go to her music classes until our kids are too old and still then stay in touch.
I’ve seen Amy teach and she is so creative and fun!
6. Concord Import & Export Corporation

Fantastic selection of the finest quality double basses, all other orchestral string instruments, and cases. Friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. I purchased my Christopher bass from Concord back in 2015. It looks as beautiful as it sounds. I have received countless compliments on the instrument, and I owe a huge thanks to Irene and the staff at Concord International.
I purchased a cello from this company that arrived with a displaced soundpost, and when I took it in to a repair shop, learned about several issues with the instrument that would cost more than I could afford to fix. The company has since been very unhelpful, and refused to allow me to return the instrument, despite the fact that it was not as described. They have now stopped answering my messages.
Stopped in for a pair of new stings. The manager helped me out. I had just bought the guitar used from a private party. The manager helped me. He plugged in the guitar in he heard some buzzing. It’s was great he took the time to check it out.
Great selection of musical instruments and stage equipment (lights, amps, cords, etc..). Recording equipment and best of all, sound advice. See Brian.
They were very helpful
Its okay for begginers and intermediate service but lacked a selection of quality products and it was hard to find and get a price check on certain items you would think be properly tagged so keep asking if your confused to why the service is weird and maybe its done to upsale you on small things. Its an ok corporate store find what works for you not them.
This place is a joke called in to sell used gear they told me to come in drove an hour to get there and have them tell me they have to many used items that i was looking to trade in was looking at a ukulele no one there knew nothing about them most were outta tune and over priced compared to there own website not to mention the snot nosed teens working the joint were to busy trying to hit on there co-worker to help and when they did it was in an elitest tone totall disrespect have been to other locations and had a great overall interaction with them not here GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION or a ma and pa shop
Exelente atención ….
Very disappointed. Fewer guitars and effects pedals. Guitar Center was once the mecca for all levels of guitar players. Not so much anymore. Might as well close the doors and stick to the website. How sad.
Walked in the front door. Walked all the way to the back of the store and not 1 person asked to help, I passed 2 people doing nothing on the way out.
Kids working just don’t want to be there. We were there for an hour not once were we asked if we needed help, when we did ask the reaction was like a child being told they have to take out the garbage. No one wants to be there, at least that’s what it seemed like.
No wonder retail is dying look what age group is working retail now.
