Robert is a great teacher. I learned to play the piano and guitar with his guidance. Would definitely recommend.
Robert has been giving guitar lessons to my two sons for the past 5 years, and recently he started giving piano lessons to them as well. We are very lucky to have found Robert as instructors. Robert not only knows music and his instruments, he is also an excellent communicator. Robert really knows how to connect with his student, is not afraid of challenging his students, and he is all about helping his students develop their own talents. He is responsible, reliable and his fee is very reasonable. I strongly recommend you check him out if you are looking for a music instructor. Robert’s studio is amazing, filled with different types of instruments that student can try out their interest. Robert also record music’s for his students and others.
Awesome teacher! Highly recommend
2. Placerville Trading Post
Address: 462 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
The best retro video game store I’ve ever been too. Such a huge collection of games for any console. The large DVD selection and some Legos & other toys are also great.
Been here a few times for Nintendo64 stuff.
Buying and selling.
The owner is Hella cool and laid back.
Easy to talk to and patient.
If you need old games or cards or whatever this is the spot.
Love this place! All the awesome collectables. So many old Nintendo games that we had growing up. Not many of these stores around. Lucky to have one
Cool. I got a GameCube here!
Much legos
The wife and I were walking down Main street in Placerville, when we heard people arguing loudly. That is when we saw the owner of The Trading Post yelling at a couple that was trying to park in front of his store. Telling them to get out of there and then he started cussing at them when they rolled the window down to ask if that spot was available he became very rude and continued to yell profanities. The couple drove off and as we continued walking up the sidewalk he began putting up sandwich signs in a public parking spot; advertising his business. I for one will never be shopping at a business where the owner handles situations in this manner. So enter at your own risk; you might get your head bit off though. LOL
Completely a rip off he sell old games for new game prices and when I tried to ask him for a deal he was unwilling to negotiate
Went in to sell a guitar once and the youbger guy working there couldn’t find a pric for the exact guitar on ebay so he decided to offer like $50 for it complete rip off, if the music store was still around i’d most likely get way more
3. Placerville News Co
Address: 409 Main St #5685, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Love this place everyone there is friendly and kind
Truly amazing people!! A woman from Placerville News Company came into our office and gave us fabric washable face masks for our entire staff!! We greatly appreciate it!
We always called it the Newsstand when I was a kid and it was one of my favorite places to buy candy and read comic books. I used to go in during quiet times and as long as I was very careful with the comics the owner let me read them for free. He probably removed it after I left to make sure the customer that paid had a brand new not previously read comic book. lol
It feels like walking back in time everytime I walk into that store…. I love it!
Great place. Love all the local literature and information. Maps and trail reviews. Also every periodical you’d ever want.
Gift shop full of goodies..
My daughter and I get art supplies here. Expensive!
Bought a colored pen from their art supply section and it was ~$4.50 after tax for one pen. They also have a minimum purchase amount for debit and credit so plan to bring cash or buy a lot. The cashier made it seem like an inconvenience that she didn’t know the price of the pen I was buying, and didn’t order me a receipt until I asked for it.
On the positive side, they do have the only art supplies I could find on Main Street.
We got kicked out for just looking around and the lady was very rude. She kicked us out for just looking around and not buying anything
So rude. Other people feel the same way it seems like in the reviews. Not even worth my time to say more than that. Will never go here again.
4. James & Associates Recording S
Address: 596 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
One of the best coffee around. Get coffee of day..with a cup and its super cheap.
They treat my elderly mom like she is Norm on Cheers. Always super friendlt.
Great service and store layout highly recommend.
This is the slowest Starbucks, than I’ve seen in California
Friendly people here, they are so busy in drive thru at peak times and the way the parking lot is makes it pretty hard to form any kind of line for drive thru past maybe 4 cars. That’s the only reason it’s 4 stars and not 5
Parking: Can get fairly busy in the drive thru and parking lot at peak times but they try to move it along and do a pretty good job at it!
I would go somewhere else, they don’t honor their gold card members. The coffee was warm not hot & Starbucks always makes fresh hot coffee! I have never had the service I had here at any Starbucks in California! Snippy & rude! Thumbs way down!
Came here with my mom…brother…and sister in law…what a mistake.
We came on Saturday 1-26-19…
The place was busy…but here is my issue.
1. It took over 20 minutes for us to get our drinks.
2. It was busy…but there were employee s in the back talking…only one guy with tattoos making the drinks. He was getting so frustrated…because…the person who was supposed to be sticking the stuff apparently was not doing his or her job…I saw him have to refill the match a powder…the milk…the tea…he had to walk in the back 3 times to refill items he was out of…everything he reached for…was out…all while people in the back were talking. There was 1 girl on register and 1 at drive through.
I felt so sorry for the guy making the drinks…I should have taken a video…
Very poorly managed store…
3. The place was a mess..garbage on the floor…I saw drinks being poured out because they were made wrong…3 just in the time I was there…
4. There were like 20 stickers waiting to get drinks filled…and it was not until I was there 15 minutes…until the others came out to help…I even told another customer…who asked me how long i was waiting…i told him my wait was over 20 minutes…he better pull up a chair.
5. When we got our drinks…my mom and I got vinte green tea ..Frappuccino….my brother vinte iced carmel macchiato…and his wife vinte…berry shaken iced tea I believe…she wanted peach..but they were out. The Frappuccinos were not good…my mom was so sad…she looked at me and said it was gross…over 20 dollars down the drain…we could not go back and complain…it already took 20 minutes to get our drinks…
Never again will I go to this location…they need a new manager…I have never been to a starbucks that was this bad…ever…it was certainly a first…
Busy, slow, and burned coffee
6. The Bookery
Address: 326 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Such an amazing place! Found so many cool pieces and the owner was super cool and very knowledgeable
Place is expensive. Wide section to find unique things you might be looking for, but most the stuff was priced really high.
Four stars because I didn’t melt inside during the hot day. It’s a rare day one goes into a decently cooled antique store of this size. Those of us who shop these sorts of establishments will understand this special shout-out.
Now, for the shopping. The pricing is what one should expect for an Old-Town antique store. By this I mean it’s a tad bit higher then average, but this is by no means wrong. Folks are traveling to this town to get a sense of history, and are willing to pay for the experience. Inside you’ll find all of the typical booths and cases full of antiques and vintage glass. Collectibles of all sorts of genre and age. This is a fun place to take folks to who you aren’t sure will even want to go into an antique shop. Like a new aunt in-law who you can’t tell like you or not. The store is not cluttered so it’s easily accessible for her so no threat of broken hip. That might put a damper on things 🙂
Unique place to find a gift or something for yourself
Nice selection of antiques. Customer service could improve though. No greeting when we walked in. There were two ladies at the front checkout having a personal conversation and the place was not busy at all. I saw a few nice things when I shopped around, but just didn’t feel inclined to support the business. When I left there was no “have a good day” or anything like that. There are other options out there, so my family and I won’t be back.
8. Empire Antiques
Address: 432 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Their customer service is amazing! My wife saw an item she wanted when we stopped in on our way back from Tahoe. I called the next day and Oscar rushed shipped it for me in time for Christmas!!!
Very cool selection of items, and a really nice sized store! The ladies that helped me were very friendly and and knowledgeable about the items I picked out. I was very impressed with this!
I️ love this store! Has friendly staff who really enjoy what they do and truly care about the items they sell.
The store is huge and has something for everyone.
Such a unique location in a cute little town.
Miss the old theater but this is a cool store
Very large store. Big selection from rings, to radios to furniture.
Prices really very to good value to “has this actually been appraised correctly”?
Definitely worth stopping to find stuff and make some offers.
Terrible customer service and I will be taking my business elsewhere. I was told twice by them to come in and they would appraise some items I had and both times they would not give me the time of day and refused to look my items.Very beautiful shop but the people who run it are rude and inconsiderate of peoples time. Do not tell people to stop by with items if you’re not interested in even looking at them ♀️
While they have some fun items, they’ve always been in questionable shape, even as antiques. The worst bit is that they use their giant marquee to blast their political stances onto Main Street. It’s a major put-off for a lot of people who go antiquing as an escape from politics. Pretty well done with this place.
9. VibesUP
Address: 366 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Love this shop.. So many interesting products! Highly recommended
Amazing customer service, great products and deals would definitely recommend
I love the products VibesUp carries! I order from them on a regular basis and look forward to visiting their business location in Placerville the next time I’m in the area. The only thing that I would say could use improvement, is the email newsletter – it is so long and has so many colors and different fonts that it hurts my eyes. But I do read it because the content is really good! Plus, you can feel the love and energy they put into their business and their tribe!
Cute store, fun selection of knick knacks to improve your mood.
I really wanted to love this place, but after spending several hundreds of dollars, it’s not that great.
I have a full size mat, smaller mats, water bottle, fridge crystals, bracelets, necklace, sound fork set, face creams, toothpaste, deodorant…. So, I did really give their products a try.
The only products I think really work that I’ve bought, is the deodorant and face creams. Like I said, I really wanted to fall in love with this store, but don’t think I’ll be back.
Been here 3 times during business hours on website. Closed every time. Today there was a “Be back in 15 min ” sign – 30 minutes later, still not open
The liquid silicone rubber is too thick for pouring a molds.
10. Artistic Beads & Studio
Address: 440 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
This shop has some nice vintage beads you can’t find just anywhere. I have been in to pick up supplies several times and have enjoyed my experience every time. This is a sweet little shop.
I absolutely LOVE this shop and am thoroughly enjoying the evolution of their online presence! I tune in every Sunday to the live sale on Instagram. It is so fun and Krystel is incredibly knowledgeable about the stones she is selling. I can hear in her voice and feel how much she cares about her shop and her customers. It truly amazes me that she can keep up with each order and gets me an invoice the next day and shipped out immediately! I love my beautiful stones and tend to let Krystel “pick me the best one” if there are multiples. I can appreciate the passion she has shared with us in resurrecting her grandmother’s bead shop and transforming it into something so magical Thank you Krystel and Norma for doing what you do and keeping me entertained and stocked with positive energy!
Friendly and large selection!!
Very expensive but lots of nice stuff.
My girl friend could spend hours in here
Very upset went in for beadwork got an estimate ( should have got in writing but even mom admitted it ) but daughter charged me almost double arguing with me so ended up paying way more than quoted
I went in one day to pick up supplies for a wrap bracelet, but they didn’t have any of the leather cord. The two ladies where polite but lunch seemed more important. I wasn’t the only person in the store, so at check out it took almost 15 minutes to finish the transaction ahead of me. The customer wasn’t done shopping. I can only assume they where still totaling everything up. During this lengthy check out, the older woman decided to talk to me after she finished her lunch and after helping another customer who came in after me. I really wanted to like this store. There is a great selection and beautiful beads, but I will not be going back. I prefer to shop locally, so I took my business to a different local shop.
The worst business owner. I will never shop here again nor will I ever recommend it!!!!
accused my sweet adult daughter of stealing an item…i literally bought over $50 worth of jewelry items 2 days ago & was coming back to buy more then this happened!!!
11. The Wine Smith
Address: 346 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Great wine selection of both local and international choices with some unique varietals. Owner was pouring and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit.
Excellent place for wine tasting. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly people good wines.
Great place to taste wine, fun owner, and good selection of local wines. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the small shop and limited seating.
Gentle setting, friendly service, wine selection is picked from bottles on wall.
Friendly. Local “Cheers”
12. Sierra Consignment Co.
Address: 404 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Went in looking and found great deal on an antique solid oak dresser yesterday and the owner who’s as cool as can be knocked of 40 bucks, cool store cool stuff, the owners is also a guitar player and grew up with all the great artists of the 1960s and 1970s so we got along great, I’ll be going back to pickup a nice set of vintage wooden skis this week as you can’t beat the prices, and I like a proprietor who plays guitar, great store and it’s been there a long time. Nice variety of Antiques and reasonable.
This is a cool place….if you cant handle the heat…..stay out the kitchen.
Very nice owner and great prices!
Great selection of items for sale. Excellent customer service. Take pictures of the items for sale and if possible, the proprietor. He loves it!
Interesting selection. Good prices aren’t easy to find.
Owner is definitely is impersonal and can come across rude.
The owner Andy is a horrible man. My children who are young teens are enthusiast of vintage items. My one son was waiting to ask a price of an item when a lady moved backwards causing my son to step backing knocking over a picture frame. No harm done but he yelled at my son to get the hell out of his store along with other things. I questioned the band behavior but then I told my family let’s leave as we did a customer chased us down apologizing saying she would never support this business and couldn’t believe what she witnessed . She then asked if my other son was special needs and said he was mocking my child who has autism and told him to leave. I didn’t know this at the time So I went back in and gave him and earful. I was in tears to think he had humiliated both my sweet boys for no reason and on Mother’s Day of all days. Talked to other businesses owners and they told me that he has a reputation to insult and belittle kids and woman in his store. Even as far as referring to some people as jungle monkey. Placerville and neighboring business along with customers should not be subjected to this form of abuse. I too am a business owner in a historic district and I can’t believe Placerville historic district association would allow this man to still have a business there after the many complaints I’ve seen reported after this incident.
The old guy that runs this place is an awful human. Yelled at me and mocked an autistic kid for bumping into the junk he put lying on the floor. Have a terrible day, crazy Andy.
Expensive and the guy working there was such a jerk 🙁 put our goods down and walked out
13. Pachamama Coffee
Address: 312 Main St #104, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Great new coffee place. They purchased from the prior owner, painted and spruced up. Will be going back.
Delicious food, super friendly employees!
Always enjoy coming to Totem for a drink and a small bite to eat. I’ve never actually had the coffee, but their dirty chai (hot or cold) is really good. Bagels and donuts are super yummy too. Love all of the outdoor seating. Employees are always friendly. It’s a great asset to Placerville!
As soon as I entered this place, I thought, “If the coffee tastes as sign out that carry specialty coffee it will be my hideout.”
Very nice and knit interior and coffee what I had Americano black was excellent.
Oat milk latte ,,, I had to left quick because of pets ,, outside table was cozy and surrounding by brick building was special ,,
Lamarzocco machine + Malconig grinder
Very busy today, a Friday AM. I enjoy sitting in the courtyard. Heard some interesting menu choices for healthy breakfasts. They lost my coffee order and gave another patron the wrong order. Chalk it off to being busy, I guess.
Very relaxing to sit under a tree with a coffee on a hot day
The beverages are tasty and the baristas are some of the friendliest, most excellent workers.
Everything about the place is great, except that the owner/management thinks that it’s okay to zero out the tip for Instacart shoppers delivering items 20 miles away from Costco in Folsom, even while the price of gas is so expensive. Yes, some of the food items are from Costco and resold here, which is perfectly fine as the coffee is what keeps people coming here anyway. Regardless, this is complete disrespectful from the owner/management considering the shoppers are working for nearly free and rely heavily on tips.
This coffee shop was recommended by friend, so I went today with an out of town guest. I ordered a latte and was hugely disappointed. I think that it was the worst coffee I have had. It was very acidic and bitter, like it had been sitting around a long while. The presentation was nice and the shop itself was decorated rather cool, other wise I would have rated this place “hated it”. Hopefully the coffee isn’t that bad all the time!
Cute place. Customer service is lacking. Cold shoulder when we came in friendly. Not cool enough I guess. Elitist attitude. Asked and paid for add shot in my mocha and got a standard mocha. Could have been a better experince if you fired all the staff here.
Resonse to owner:
AHH Every coffee house I have visited from Australia to Italy, London and England, New York to San Francisco serve 3 shots in a added shot for a large mocha. I watched and recieved two.
Your staff with CSUS hat clearly looked up as my husband said “stingers up”. The atmosphere was dismissive of us. Your staff clearly was engaged in deep conversation with another customer as they ignore us at the check out counter.
14. Walmart
Address: 4300 Missouri Flat Rd, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Placerville walmart, this place is awesome and I wish the Walmart near me in Jackson was this good, I would do way more shopping there. Placerville walmart has 3 isles of halloween/harvest seasonal decor! Plus food and clothes I would actually wear
Don’t always find what I’m looking for or lack of choices.
Clean store, wish it was a super Walmart.
Generally pretty ok stuff for ok prices.
Very difficult for disabled people to find parking.
There are very few electric ride-around shopping carts avaliable, per the number of people needing such accommodations.
Expect long wait time for an electric cart. Even worse, there’s no seating area to wait for disabled carts.
Used to be a good store. No longer! Because of their war against cash customers I’m forced to wait in a LONG, SLOW line to buy even a couple of items. Better to make do without. I save more money when I buy nothing at all.If you’re a cash customer, Walmart hates you. Go somewhere else. Horrible store!
Staff very rude to customers.
15. Placerville Third Saturday Artwalk
Address: Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Food was hot, fresh, tasty, and the service was quick. What more could you ask for? Had a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit.
Good coffee
Outstanding
McDonalds, decent. Better than most.
The inside is better now after the remodel, food is the same
The food is good, but the service, just like ALL THE OTHER McDONALDS…WHACK!
Gross
Service was quick, food was fine. I ordered $20 worth of food and then when the lady bought it out I asked her for a water cup (a pretty common request if you ask me) and after handing it to me told me to make sure to get water (and not soda). Why would she imply I would steal soda?? Alamo now in the parking lot I’m seeing this sign for $1 for any size soft drink. Even if I did steal soda it would just be $1… Weirdest interaction I’ve had with a McDonald’s employee ever
The cashier at the front window is really nice. However, the food has gone downhill (even for McDonald’s) and the order is rarely correct. 🙁
17. Shorty’s Gelato & Bakery
Address: 1216 Broadway unit A, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
I SO appreciate the vegan options—the strawberry-chocolate chip is fabulous!
Their donuts are amazing! Lemon with blueberry drizzle – the !
Very delicious treats!! The rasberry tart was divine and the banana cream pie was great. The apple tart is more fresh apples than apple pie filling. Tried the maple pecan ice cream and that was also very good.
The gelato is pretty good and they have a decent selection of baked goods. One star taken because teens were listening to ghetto mumble rap on a Saturday night – not great music for a dessert place, let alone family friendly.
18. Cuppa Coffee & More
Address: 442 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
This place has got it right. Espresso drinks are made so well (and I’m picky)! Probably the best coffee shop in town.
Best coffee shop in town
Great little coffee shop, good food, stop by
Cuppa Coffee has a welcoming atmosphere. It says stay awhile, read and talk with friends. The Coffee drinks and food were good.
good coffee, comfortable chairs, nice place
Super friendly staff. Espresso drinks were so-so. Decent, creative space with some interesting local art.
Mediocre coffee and 1/4 of a breakfast burrito for $5.
$6.22 for this. For a place with 4.7 starts for reviews I’m disappointed. I’d be embarrassed to charge someone for this chicken wrap. I will definitely not be coming back.
Hey everyone…. My daughter and I just went to this coffee place and it is definitely in a great location and the atmosphere is nice but the pastries leave a lot to be desired. I got a cinnamon coffee cake which was mediocre at best and my daughter got a brownie, which was super dry, and tasted stale. This would be a great place if you improve your pastry selection!

19. Bowtie Barbershop
Address: 259 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Great service and fun place. Gave my boys the best hair cut ever. So pleased to find Jessie’s shop!
So kind with our kiddo with special needs❤️
Haircut turned out great, by Ace. $30 for a men’s cut, but wouldn’t tell me how much for a men’s cut over the phone, for some reason. Takes cash only. If you don’t have cash, there’s an atm at the bank, a few doors down. Atmosphere is VERY laid back, which is cool if your into that, but wasn’t really my cup of tea. Would return for the good haircut at a fair price, but not really for anything else.
Updating my last review. Needed to get a December shave and hair cut. Stop in the down town Barbershop. New to the area this is my second time at this place. Had a barber pole. Ok shave and hair cut. Well was a walk in I put my name on the list asked how long. He couldn’t say. See four people sitting. Ok thinking I have time. Asked can I go get coffee. Yes. Im good. Walked down to the corner got coffee. Came back sat down. Have coffee I’m happy notice someone left. Cool. Nice place may get a good shave. Ok 1 hour and 1/2 later. Finished coffee long ago. Looking forward for a shave afterward a November no shave. Times up the guys are taking to long. To much showboating. Thinking more of a kids and young mans place. Don’t get me wrong I’m not that old. Just a grown up. I own a business and deal with customer daily. Enjoy sitting there have my coffee , and listening to the background music. I had the time but an hour, and 1/2 and still someone in the chair. Bummer both the Barbers shops here in town don’t do shaves. Why? Barber pole shave, and hair place. Thanks guys good time.
Not what I wanted. Told them exactly how I wanted my cut and they said no problem, even though they would do a little differently. Had me looking away from the mirror the whole time when cutting. When done they turned me around to view in the mirror and I couldn’t believe it. Way to tight on the sides, (just about whitewalls), and too long on top and not evened out well. Really disappointed.
they are not professional in their business.
I’ve been thinking “I should try these guys out” for a couple years now. I usually just buzz my own hair — not typically too concerned with looking my best, but I’ve been practicing more self care lately and thought a proper haircut would be good. Really disappointed. The gal who cut my hair asked me what I wanted, and then insulted me for my answer and refused to cut my hair how I’m used to. “Yeah, this isn’t great clips. I’m not doing that.” I didn’t push back at the time, but in retrospect it really was awful service; if you want to practice your “art” then do so on your own time & dime. If people are paying you for a haircut, you should *at a minimum* treat them with respect when you give your input, and really, you should give them the haircut they ask for. The actual haircut was objectively fine, but it wasn’t what I asked for, and unfortunately the experience casts a shadow to large to ignore.

20. Royal Six Tattoo
Address: 537 Main St, Placerville, CA 95667 , Placerville , California , United States
Amazing place. Everybody is super kind and very professional. Best tattoo parlor I’ve ever been to. Amazing work amazing people
Had my first Tattoo done at Royal Six Tattoo by a young artist named Maude. She did a beautiful and very detailed Dragonfly on my right foot. Her artistic and coloring abilities are beyond amazing. You should definitely ask for Maude for your first Tattoo.
I absolutely love the tattoo it’s so cute
Colin did amazing work and handled all the clients coming in when he was alone in the shop
Super excited to get tattooed by Freddy again! Very friendly, professional and a great artist.
got the best and my most favorite tattoo from this shop today! they came up with exactly what my bestfriend and I wanted today! definitely friendly and priced fair. I will for sure go back on my next trip back home to Placerville ca
I’ll be honest, I should’ve done this review about two years ago, but I just noticed something else about it. I cannot for the life of me remember my artists name, I came in as a walk in, all of my friends recommended Royal Six to me and I was super excited. My artist kept looking away as he was working on my tattoo, talking to people over his shoulder and not paying attention to the work he was doing. The result was crooked, messy, uneven and rushed. I tried not minding how splotchy the ink was, and maybe if I’d gone ahead and scheduled the appointment it would’ve been better. But I was so excited for this particular tattoo and it’s a real shame that he couldn’t give me the time of day to pay attention to what he was doing.
Rude people and horrible tattoos, messed mine up
Was pleased with everything when I started my sleeve. When I went back in to start the lower half, we got about 4-5 hours into the first session, and (this is after a good 5 or 6 breaks). The artist asked if we could stop because he was a little under the weather because he had to much to drink the night before. We stopped immediately. It’s been awhile since then and I wasn’t going to say anything. But the more I look at my unfinished arm, it really shows in the quality of the tattoo that he definitely wasn’t a 100%. It takes a lot for me to write a poor review, but when it to comes to someone putting something permanent on your body when they are hungover or still drunk from the night before, I’m not ok with that. I’m not going to mention names but after spending $1500+, I unfortunately will not be returning to Royal Six Tattoo due to this incident. As far as I’m concerned no one should be tattooing someone if they’re hungover under the influence of any substance, especially at a tattoo parlor with such a good reputation.
