A good store with a lot of variety, the employees are incredibly knowledgeable and kind.
Very good place to go! Interesting things to see!
Ever changing stock of goòdies. I have had some nice finds in the past. Worth a look see.
Ok
Need a change of stuff, I look for deals !!!
Cool store. A lot of different items to look at. A mix of vintage, antiques and some homemade items. A little on the higher price. Did find a few cute items, but you have to really look for the bargains.
There was a male employee who kept following me around the store as if he thought I were going to steal something. He came running around the corner at one point when he lost sight of me only to stop, walk away, and continue watching me from a distance.
He shouldn’t judge people by their race. I felt uncomfortable and vowed never to go back there again.
I don’t understand why this place is here. It is a large building full of the cheapest junk you find at the cheapest yard sales.
I mean, if you’re really fiending for 50 cent garage sale items at $10 pricing, you’re in luck.
Stop in if you want a laugh… or a cry.
Unfriendly! I won a gift basket and after driving an hour to pick it up was told she gave it away. I called and left a message that I was coming the following Saturday to pick it up, I called the day after she called. She said “answering machine must not work” and didn’t even apologize when I came in. I don’t care about the prize but she was not nice or even felt bad for the mix up. This is not a place I recommend. Weird staff that follows you around and is unfriendly, some booths are ok but there are way better places to shop. I say skip this one!
3. Hillshire Recording Studio
Address: 9915 Hillshire Dr, Richmond, IL 60071 , Richmond , Illinois , United States
A gem of a place right in downtown Richmond. Cleo, the owner, is so kind and delightful. Her place is full of super reasonably priced treasures. Well curated, clean, and inviting. Awesome place!
My first, which will turn into many, visit was Saturday. I found everything interesting, somewhat unusual, and charming. I can honestly say that I liked every single thing in the store!! Prices were very reasonable which makes it easier to buy more rather than less. Everything is displayed very nicely and very organized! I got inspired to do some major changes in my kitchen with all the new accessories that I bought!!!
Harper G’s is such an enjoyable shop to visit. If I ever need a gift for a family member or friend this is the first place I go. Lots of unique decor items, books, jewelry, and clothes. They also have really cute seasonal items. Make sure to visit if you find yourself in Richmond!
Lots of charming household items, purses, books, kitchen items and clothing you won’t find anywhere else. The owner and salesperson were both knowledgeable and kind. You need to shop there! Please let me know when new Spring items are in, thank you!
Love Harper G! So many cute and trendy items to choose from for any occasion. Stopped in the other day and the business was very clean, had amazing displays of product and the owner was extremely friendly and helpful from the minute I walked in. I would highly recommend that you stop in while you are in town!
I have driven by many times but never stopped in! I decided to turn the car around and go explore. I found lots of cute items etc however; I did not stay . Two women walked in , not wearing masks . They obviously new the people working there. The workers did not ask them to wear a mask so I walked out .
stopped in here for the first time yesterday ( saturday) looked interesting
lots of people in there ( 15 or so, that I saw) I WAS THE ONLY PERSON WEARING A MASK! WTH?! I left immediately. I will not be back- ever. This speaks Volumes to me about your business, and your complete disregard for your customers
8. Angelo’s Fresh Market
Address: 9914 N Main St, Richmond, IL 60071 , Richmond , Illinois , United States
I’m so glad to see the original staff along side new people. And, I’m grateful they remodeled, and kept the prices low.
They have some great deli meats, along with pork, chicken, Italian sausage and beef meats.
Mary is awesome and sweetheart!!!
A nice local grocery store for most items. The meat selection is adequate and the in store made items are usually excellent. The Italian sausages made in house, especially the hot links, are Excellent. Produce is mediocre at best but in a pinch you can get what you need. They have a beer and wine selection geared toward the standard consumer. The deli has a good selection and the pre-sliced roast beef and au jus won’t disappoint.
Friendly and helpful staff are usually around if you need something. Recommend for most grocery items if you don’t want to visit a large chain.

So sad, we are residences of Richmond and want to give local businesses our business. Never again will we shop here. I’ve called several times trying to resolve the negative situation with no return call. The girl at the register is one of the rudest people. Always to busy texting she doesn’t say hi doesn’t say have a nice day nothing. No communication at all. Not once, twice or three times but every time to every single customer. She even charged us twice when we were told by her it wouldn’t go through, she was too busy talking to friends then to check the charge. We are very sad about the whole situation.
I went in at 7pm (closing at 8pm). I am disappointed with the unproper hand washing procedures. I walked to the deli area and a young lady was mopping the floor, mind you wearing gloves. I asked if deli was still open and she said yes. She placed mop on the corner and asked what I wanted, quickly reaching into case with the same gloves she had on when mopping. I’m sorry but I do Not want dirty mop gloves touching the food I will eat.

I visited here the past Sunday, March 24th. I dropped $107 on 4 pieces of clothing from their sales racks. Upon paying, I was told that because I purchased from the “sales racks & that the clothing was almost free, I didn’t deserve a bag as they (the bags) were too expensive for discounted clothing”
It was pouring rain outside. If I hadn’t already paid, I would have left the clothing and walked out.
I’m a business consultant- I am fully aware that those sale pieces were written off in 2018 taxes. So, they were written off as a business loss, then discounted and sold in 2019. Not exactly FREE, and the owner had the tax write off. The bags are also a tax deduction. I will NEVER return. I hope the $2 bag is worth the bad press. I’ll never understand the incompetence of some business owners. I’ve purchased $800 shoes for $50 at Nordstrom’s and THEY give ME a bag. Such foolish business practices. Treat your store like a garage sale & you’ll attract garage sale customers.
10. Ivy’s Oh So Sweet Ice Cream Shop
Address: 10315 N Main St, Richmond, IL 60071 , Richmond , Illinois , United States
Some of the best ice cream we have had not to mention the service was very polite, professional and fun. Highly recommend. It is inconvenient for us, but worth the trip and will go again. Try the Ice Cream Flight.
This place has a good feel when you walk in. The girl serving was very sweet. She offered sample flavors when I was unable to decided. The ice creams were delicious and the cones were dipped and absolutely beautiful. Ice cream is on the spendy side, but well worth it. The lady checking me out was very helpful and gave insight in fun things in the area.
Cute place, ice cream taste. As long as you are there it’s a nice place to take a break!
Just drove here and it looked closed. Just called and owner said they are closed for the season. Will reopen in March. looking forward to checking it out.
Very good ice cream
Place was empty on a good weather Saturday afternoon. I wanted a chocolate sundae. They didn’t even have chocolate sauce! I agree to take hot fudge topping since the owner had already scooped the ice cream. His reply ,”I can put it back!” Not sure they’re going to make it very long with that attitude and lack of normal toppings.
I can’t believe we drove 45 minutes to try this icecream shop only to find out that they were closed. Please update your website to show your correct hours. It said you were open and closing at 8:30 pm we arrived at 3:30 pm. We Were very disappointed!
My husband and I stopped here yesterday. My husband got a small sundae which is a one scoop with 2 toppings, whipped cream and a cherry for $5. I had the kids sundae for $4. There was a young man who seemed like he was new and a man that we assume was the owner behind the counter. The employee was exceptionally nice and pleasant and made our sundaes. When my husband paid I reiterated to the owner who was checking us out I had the kids sundae and he said right. When we got to the table to eat I asked my husband what he paid and he said $13.90. I’m not claiming to be an expert in math but with tax I don’t think we should have paid more than $9.68 and that is using a 7.5% sales tax rate. When we went up to inquire the owner became very agitated and argumentive until his employee confirmed what we ordered. He said fine and gave us $2 back. I then said the total should have been 9 something. I pointed out the one was $5 and the kids was $4 and then the tax. He was like do we even have a kids sundae and had to look up on the menu board to confirm and said here and gave us another &1 back. He was very rude and I had had it so we left being jipped out of at least $1.22 which is better than $4.22. My family eats a lot of ice cream but we will stick to our regular places and skip the one closest to our house and I’m pretty sure he read the riot act to the poor kid that helped us when we were leaving
11. Richmond Dog N Suds
Address: 11015 US-12, Richmond, IL 60071 , Richmond , Illinois , United States
This place was great. A good, old-fashioned Drive-In. The food was excellent, exactly what you would expect from a drive-in, service was great. Really an all-around good experience and hopefully we’ll be able to come back sometime since it’s about an hour away from our house.
Tasty. Foot long coney dog was incredible.
Only thing not so good their lemonade tasted like it was mixed with rootbeer
Nice to see a Dog N Suds still doing a good business.
Wanted and M&M blizzard so figured I’d try this place. It was good, but nothing spectacular. $7.49 for a SMALL was definitely outrageous for a little bit of ice cream!!!
I like the Texas Burger. Young employees with reasonable service.
Terrible frozen food. My hamburger tasted like paper! For around $7 per hamburger I would expect more flavor. Everything is frozen and re-heated or dropped in the nasty oil. After eating this lunch I was sick that afternoon. My stomach hut.
We spent over $20 on two basket orders. My wife had a corndog with fries and coleslaw. I had a Cheeseburger basket meal with fries and coleslaw.
I will never visit this place again!
The service here is awful but we like to stop here now and then anyway.
Hot dog bun was soggy and I ordered onion rings with the dog and got 4 rings! Not impressed
Best Italian beefs and Chicago dogs in Richmond area.
The prices were very affordable and the service was great! Had a group meeting there and we were treated excellent! Will definitely return!
Tasty food
The quality and real low & slow BBQ!
Nothing fancy, but the prime rib and steaks are pretty good. Always dead in there when we go on Saturday nights, no sure why.
Horrible hours. Not what we needed in the bay.
Went there it is not a stake place anymore. Tryed there brosted chicken. Had no favor and when done thee was blood in the basket. They said it was $ 12.00 + my drink a soda and bill came to over$1700.
Cold and small portions wife and i wernt very happ spent alot for nothing
14. Richmond Flea Market
Address: 5707 W, Kenosha St, Richmond, IL 60071 , Richmond , Illinois , United States
Jackie was great she took over for her dad and is doing a great job Is bought this really cool refrigerator from the 1930s Definitely check out if you get into Richmond you will not be disappointed.
Awesome place
They always have lots of stuff to look through. Hard to leave without finding something you can use.
As always a fun place to walk around
Biggest thrift store I have ever been it
Interesting stuff.
Cool digging but prices are steep.
Very cluttered, hard to get to items. The first room as you walk in is unbelievably cluttered. The 2nd room not to bad. The stereo room was pretty good. You can at least see what is available there.
Smelled like mold, wasent organized just things on top of each other, and everything was damaged or chipped
Absolutely terrible, if I hadn’t used google maps to find the place I would have thought I accidentally went to a garbage dump. Not to mention I was stared down the entire time by a man who very closely resembled the one eyed alien at the Star Wars mos eisly cantina. I would highly recommend digging through your neighbors trash can before coming here.
15. Crash and The Paramedics
Address: 321 Freeman St, Genoa City, WI 53128 , Richmond , Illinois , United States
Support your local music store!! It’s a small space with some cool guitars as well as most of the regular stuff you need. Lessons here too. love these folks. Bob really cares.
Very good place to go. Jason teaches my daughters and they have enjoyed the lessons . They have improved their level and thanks to Jason they love piano . Jason is professional, serious and an oustanding piano teacher. He really motivates students to learn.
Marie de shazer.
Why would I come here to buy $21 Elixir Strings when I can get them for $10 on Amazon? Are these even elixirs? I am 2nd guessing because the seal was ripped and the bags are crinkled inside. I feel like I was ripped off here, do not come here for your strings maybe they are knowledgable, but definatley sketchy.
sad to have to change my review but after having dealt with this store more it seemed necessary
A week and a half later, I’m waiting on a repair that was supposed to take two days. They called on the day it was supposed to be done to say they just started working on it. Two days after that they called again to say it will be done in a week (or maybe less) due to a problem with the instrument that requires additional work. Today (a week later) they said it will be ready two weeks from the day I brought it in. While I can’t comment on the quality of the work because I still haven’t received it yet, I am disappointed with the service so far. I dislike dishonesty, excuses, and false promises. I can only hope that my instrument isn’t being butchered. I hope I’ll get it back and be able to add a positive update to this review. Unfortunately since they lied to me, I can’t trust them, so I’ll have to take it somewhere else to get it checked out after I get it back.
Update: I got the guitar back and had it checked out by a friend’s technician. He said it was in good shape, so I’ve decided to raise my rating by two stars. I won’t forget the bad communication and lack of transparency, so I don’t think I would bring an instrument here for repair a second time.
I bought two sets of acoustic guitar strings for around a $20 total and later received a $140 charge from the business. Bob said he would reach out to resolve the issue but has not yet after two weeks.
Was looking for a specific pair of drumsticks that I needed. I walked in and took a look at the selection they had, and they didn’t have what I needed. I asked a staff member if they could help me out and he helped me figure out what pair I needed. He happened to be the drum instructor. While trying to find the specific pair, my mother who was with me told me that he made her feel uncomfortable because of the way he acted towards her. When they “ordered” it for me and they said it’ll be here in a week.
One week later, I called to see if it had arrived. They said no. I stopped by the next day to see if it arrived and the same instructor said they’ll stop by tomorrow and pick it up for me. (From whatever warehouse they get their stuff from). The next day, guess what? THEY DIDN’T HAVE IT.
Unbelievable service. Waste of time and effort. I ended up going to A-Major Music in Gurnee. Trust me, it is worth the drive and they are MUCH more friendlier and helpful there.
Bought an over priced patch cable to find out it doesn’t work.
18. Olive Black Lounge
Address: 5607 Broadway Rd, Richmond, IL 60071 , Richmond , Illinois , United States
Nice place to visit. Fabulous martinis. Owner and bartender are the best.
I love this place! It’s really cute inside and they also have live music! Fabulous martinis!!!
Drinks and food were good but a loud classic country band might not be what you’d expect. Lights were bright and it just seemed to have completely lost the ambiance of a classy martini bar.
Excellent martinis. The tapas menu is quite varied and has a variety of portions. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The ambiance is wonderful.
Very cute place and very nice staff! The food was decent but they could kick up the presentation a little bit.
While dining at Olive Black on Saturday night to relax have a martini and dinner the owners being obviously abusive to the server taking care of my husband and I had a drink thrown at her by the HUSBAND (OWNRR/EMPLOYER) who started a scene BLAMING our server who wss friendly and a doing a great job when WIFE (OWNER/EMPLOYER) got involved to our surprise threw a drink at her EMPLOYEE! I WAS SHOCKED AT THE ABUSE BY THE OWNERS OF OLIVE. BLACK AND WONT GO BACK. So petty to do such a thing it WAS AN UNJUSTIFIED and unprofessional not to mention a cruel way to handle an employee when it was obviius from our point if vuew the HUSBANDS ERROR NOT the employee (our server) it made for a bad EXPERIENCE. It was,a turn off for any fair minded person and hoping the owners are reported!! DON’T NEED THAT KIND IF EXPERIENCE. BAD BAND TOO. the first time We were there. Twice is enough!!
Just moved to the area went out for date night and came across olive black. Thought we would try the place. Had drinks and tapas. The drinks were good the tapas not so much. We had the mushrooms and shrimp. The mushrooms were swimming in a red sauce. Presentation was terrible. The shrimp with mango salsa were bland. Salsa was good tails still on the shrimp and bread seemed if it was day old as it was chewy. The worst part were all the small ants flying around. Asked the bartender and he said they were mosquitoes because the door was open. Actually they were more like fruit flies landed in my drink didn’t finish it. I love local places but very disappointed here.
Showed up at 4:25 ready for some martinis with my girlfriend…they open at 4:30… waiting…4:35… nothing…4:40…4:45…4:50… so sad I headed across to Seaside Prime and had the most amazing meal, service and drinks!! Still not open at 7:30??? No note on the door… oh well.
