The staff are so nice here. I take guitar lessons weekly with Anthony. Great place to learn to play an instrument and buy one as well.
Although I have played the trumpet since the 5th grade, I haven’t purchased one for myself since 1971. My wife gave me the opportunity to purchase a new one for a birthday present. I approached a friend connected to Music & Arts who gave me her husband’s email. Although I felt as though I was a novice purchaser, I was given the royal treatment as this first contact led to an introduction to the Retail District Manager and finally an introduction to Vernon store manager, Pete. The horns and types I wanted to try were all gathered to this store, I was given a practice/lesson room to try them out and feel I have made an excellent purchase. I am thoroughly impressed with the entire chain and very grateful to all involved!
Very helpful customer service and good guitar teacher
Small space but with limited music supply stores in the area it’s good to see places like this still up
This store is a good place to get music books for several instruments especially classical instruments that you can’t find many stores for. I have a violin and go here occasionally to buy books for cool songs. 🙂
They don’t seem to have the music inventory that they once had but the guy who helped me was super affable and helpful.
The in-store representatives are great and nice. But I am very much disappointed with the customer service representative and the supervisors. All of them showed rude behavior. I signed up for 10 months contract and during Covid situation there was delay in returning the instrument to the store at the end of contract period. But Music and Arts still charged me for 2 months on higher cost. Way above my 10 months contract. When I called the customer service, they were very rude and not showing any flexibility and care for customers. I wanted to do business with them for the next school year. But with these behaviors I will NEVER do business with them. I could not find anything lower than 1 star rating…
All they need is customers’ money… No care for customers… even in this COVID situations…
4. Paul’s Boutique Records
Address: 630 Talcottville Rd, Vernon, CT 06066 , Rockville , Connecticut , United States
Cozy record store with a nice owner. Gives a reward card that has increasing discounts every time you come back up to 25% off your entire purchase, I thought that was pretty sweet. Good selection, good prices, and it’s organized well.
Great record store and the owner is really awesome!
I went there for the first time today. I believe I met Paul and he couldn’t have been nicer. I bought three very good albums (Animals, Johnny Cash, and The Go Go’s) for $15. I thought the prices were very good (some as low as $2.50 and one as high as $99 but most being $5-$15) considering the quality and the fact that each album was rated and packaged in a plastic sleeve. Some were still sealed.
The store has two floors, the first having a bunch of old stereo equipment and some bargain bins that offered 4 albums for $10. Downstairs is where the bulk of the albums were, alphabetized by band name. The store has a nice vibe. They were playing some Bob Marley while I was there. About a half-dozen customers were there and it felt like I was back in time. I left feeling pretty good.
Friendly Service
Didnt get exactly the price i wanted for my records. I know their worth. But i just wanted gone. Paul is very nice though and honest
Great potential. I think I met Paul (a really friendly and knowledgeable guy). But I found the grading on the used records that I purchased to be a bit misleading. Also, the staff I’ve encountered on subsequent visits have been less than helpful/friendly. Wishing the best for this place.
5. Autograph Pros Celebrity Autographs & Music Memorabilia
Love this company! I’ve done business with them on several occasions. The owner (literally) wrote the book on autograph collecting. Will continue to work with them in the future.
Great to deal with and excellent customer service. Will definitely deal with again. 10/10.
Michael runs a fantastic company for fairly priced authentic autographed items.
I’ve been purchasing from him for years and items are always well packaged and shipped promptly. Items are always as described and I’ve been able to add a number of items that would’ve been difficult to obtain otherwise.
He’s well known in the autograph community for being a pillar of honesty and integrity, which is a rarity in the business and hobby.
He’s even written a great book which is highly informative to collectors that are novices and even experts.
I wouldn’t hesitate to do further business with them and I’m grateful companies like this exist in a hobby filled with scumbags selling poorly faked items.
6. Records – The Good Kind
Address: 435 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT 06066 , Rockville , Connecticut , United States
It’s so hard to find quality cassettes these days – but they’ve got them here! I was more interested in their cassettes, but for anyone interested in records or CDs, their collection seems pretty extensive!
If you are looking for vintage then this place is it.
Great selection and reasonable prices! I’ll definitely be back.
Very average place. I’m guessing it’s run by one guy, which is understandable and the main reason im not giving lower stars. Place was very messy and smelled very heavily of cigars (there’s a cigar shop next door but if it was my business I would do something to try and cover that smell). Sold and bought records here. I got very much lowballed on the records I sold and was only offered store credit, but considering I just wanted to get rid of some records taking up space, I don’t care too much. Just know that this is more so a quick flip for records and not a good way to actually sell them. Anything you want a good price for, sell on discogs. Now the buying experience was alot more important to me since I could’ve gotten a penny for each record and not really cared. I bought about 8 records and the prices were slightly above market, which is again understandable considering its a small business. The real issue I have is that nothing is play tested or cleaned. They have a test player set up but I was in a bit of a rush and even with 8 records, it’s alot of time to playtest when you are looking to buy them and go. It looks like they are not testing or cleaning, yet are pricing at slightly above market for VG+. Most reputable places only sell VG or above unless it specifically says on the record. I would say half of the ones I got were VG and the other half were poor. Most of the records were bargin bin, but I paid $25 for one in particular that I’ve been looking for, and was very disappointed that it plays so poorly. I could’ve gotten that one for $20 online in VG+, but I would’ve gladly paid $30 for a VG just to support a local store. My big recommendation would be to put untested/uncleaned stuff in the bargain bins (I understand one guy can’t test and clean everything that comes in) and the high priced stuff ($20+) should all be ultra sonic cleaned and tested or automatically price it at the market price for G instead of VG+. Also please fix that smell. It was pretty overbearing. I would not shop here again in the near future, but will probably check in a year or so to see if they have improved at all.
Nice Store. Some pretty obscure stuff, lacking in anything other than records but the name of the place should say it all. Highlight was a really big selection of cheap records, went digging and found a few gems. Nice friendly staff and cool location.
Always new stuff available
This store does have a decent selection. However, their pricing is too high. You can do much better elsewhere with equal quality.
You may like the selection. I certainly did. The owner was very pleasant to me until one of his employees was not. Should you opt to bring your own record tote, do NOT use it to carry what you are going to purchase around inside the store. I cannot emphasize enough how important this is.
7. 2 Mics, 1 Sound
Address: 60 Mt Vernon Dr Apt. B, Vernon, CT 06066 , Rockville , Connecticut , United States
I met Tim at church, and went to see him play at Beni’s Restaurant. He was amazing, and had the restaurant patrons, and us, singing along. I hired him to play at my aunt’s 60th birthday party. Y’all. Y’ALL. Not kidding. Tim and his music and his humor MADE this party! He had everyone engaged and singing and having a blast. He’s playing at Beni’s again soon (yay, vaccine!) and I can’t wait to go! But even better, he’ll be the DJ at my niece’s wedding in May. I am so excited for THAT party! I want to have a party just so I can hire him again. Keep it up, Tim, you’re FANTASTIC!
We hired Timmy to be our DJ at our family reunion and we we so happy we did! He put together an awesome playlist and that, combined with his charismatic personality, really set the tone for a fun-filled, welcoming get-together. He took requests and seamlessly integrated them into his set and our family was amazed by his live music, too! His price was more than fair and we definitely will be hiring him in the future when the occasion arises.
9. Big Red’s Treasure Chest CT
Address: 20 E Main St, Vernon, CT 06066 , Rockville , Connecticut , United States
I had a wonderful experience. I bought a piece of furniture reasonably priced and gorgeous!
Excellent very large selection of great used tools, furniture and every kind of treasure imaginable !
Great People very friendly, helpful don’t pressure you into buying things. The things that they do have great prices nice place to go and look around.
There’s a lot of cool stuff to look at here, but a lot of stuff isn’t priced. Many bins around the store just filled with stuff no prices or signs on it. Most of the furniture was really expensive for the pieces they have that would need repair or restoration. There was a lot of neat items in the display case.
I have stopped in a handful of times and each time nobody greets or says a word.
Very good owner of this place with a lot of neat stuff from books and media to housewares like chinas and glasses to furniture.
Did not honor business transaction valued money over customers or ethics … I’ll buy elsewhere
Not open during posted times that indicate otherwise.
10. Family Dollar
Address: 42 Windsor Ave, Vernon, CT 06066 , Rockville , Connecticut , United States
Paper goods are a great deal especially when you download the app sometimes a little cluttered with boxes but other than that it’s a great store I love it all, my husband loves the prices.
I personally think it’s a messy store. You can not walk through the store with a cart you will knock stuff over or run over stuff. All the carts are used up because of the employees using them for stock that needs to go out. They honestly need to hire more people so the place can get cleaned and stay clean and not expect one person to be able to take care of the entire store and stock and all that by themselves. Other than that I would have given a five star as the few employees they do have are very nice and respectful and always try to help.
Nice sales associates
the store needs an over haul. The building is old and dirty. You can’t go through the isles because of all the boxes in the way.
Aisles are always blocked with inventory to restock, to the point of it being a hazard.
The parking lot alone is an embarrassment. Every day there is trash all along the front of the building. You have to walk on it or around it just to get in the front door. It’s clearly not well cared for.
Store ok , except the guy in line playing his ghetto music loudly from phone apparently low cost equals low class..
11. Drive In Package Store

15. Fox Hill School of Music
Address: 520 Hartford Turnpike Suite I, Vernon, CT 06066 , Rockville , Connecticut , United States
Fox Hill School of Music is a warm and welcoming studio, full of people dedicated to sharing their love of music to all students! The location is gorgeous, with tasteful decorations and ample performance space, and parking is easy and convenient! I would highly recommend this music studio for learners young or not so young who want to hone their musical talent with professionals who are amazing and compassionate!
I have known Kasey and Ben for years and they’re amazing!! They care so much for students and helping them express creativity. I also know the rest of the teaching staff, who are all super friendly and talented! Kat was my voice teacher for the last few years and my skills grew tremendously with her, even when taking lessons via zoom during the pandemic. Fox Hill is a super cozy space, with high quality equipment, and the coolest stage! I can’t wait to participate in their monthly open mics, and maybe try out their professional recording studio!
Kasey and Ben offer a warm, welcoming place for all to enjoy a remarkable music education experience at Fox Hill with their friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff. Take a tour and see for yourself!
16. Windsor Music Centre
Address: 95 Poquonock Ave, Windsor, CT 06095 , Rockville , Connecticut , United States
Wonderful customer service! I believe it was the owner I was speaking to, said they’ve been a family business for 65 years!!!! And for good reason!!! Knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. Grade a experience! Will be back again
Genuine
Salvador is to taking good care of us!!! Grazie Sal!!
It’s okay.
Nice guy and great service so far!
terrible repairment
Not bad.
Rented a violin during 2012/2013 school year. Throughout the school year violin needed numerous repairs, therefore, I did not rent from them the following school year. Low and behold as reviewing my bank statements I noted a monthly charge from them. Upon calling and speaking with “Joe” I was told that even though the violin was never returned to me after the last repair, I did not officially return the violin. and the charges can not be or won’t be refunded. Duly note that the violin is and has been with them since June of 2013 and the owner acknowledged this fact. I now know why they were not listed as a rental place by the school system. I would never buy from them again or refer any business their way.
