Address: 1306 W Northwest Hwy, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
James is very knowledgeable and always such a wonderful person to work with. We’re so grateful to have found his shop.
Have rented student violins for several years. Great quality and service.
My son has been taking lessons with Mr. James Park at Park Violins. Mr. James is a great teacher who is very patient with little kids. He is very particular about teaching the fundamentals, positions of hands and understanding the rhythm. My son enjoys the class and loves it when Mr. James plays songs with him making it a high energy jamming session! He also rents great quality instruments.
Mr. Park is very knowledgeable and offers a fine seletion of violins and bows.
4. Fix This! Musical Instrument Repair, Inc.
Address: and/or, 746, 744 E Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL 60074 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
Knowledgeable staff and great prices for rental instruments for band or orchestra
Very friendly and helpful!
Rented our daughter’s clarinet from there. Nice and clear explanation of the contract. Fair rent price that includes the damage and theft coverage. Friendly discussion about the instrument and how to maintain it.
Good shop for your musical instrument needs.
Called and asked for some scheduling details before dropping off on an appointment which is anytime on Tuesday as we need to pick up Thursday before heading out of town for a competition. Bonnie at the shop was extremely rude and impatient. At the second call seconds after my 1st inquiry. While not necessary, I apologized for forgetting to ask an important question on when on Thursday I can expect to pick up, as we will be heading out of town. This is her response word by word,
“I am very busy. Everytime you call, you interrupted my work. Just DROP IT OFF and I will let you know”……..and she did it twice with attitude.
I am taking my business elsewhere…..and make our music school aware of the lack of service at this establishment. This is not a review of the repair, but service at the establishment.
5. Voytek’s School Of Music & Entertainment
Address: 3404 Peacock Ln, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
Voytek is a great teacher, I am an adult and have been taking piano lessons from him for 6 weeks now. He is very encouraging and approachable.
Voytek is an awesome piano teacher! My daughter started with in- person lessons before COVID, but switched to ‘online’/FaceTime lessons, which actually is working beautifully! Voytek is very positive with his feedback and has worked to find music at my daughter’s level that she enjoys. If you’ve been thinking about piano lessons, I would highly recommend Voytek!
I was never into music until I learned from Voytek. I did not know that I could learn so quickly and I attribute that to him. His knowledge is not just in one area of music and he knows several instruments.I was able to learn some piano and guitar in short time. Overall, great experience.
6. More Gain Music
Address: 17 E Palatine Rd, Palatine, IL 60067 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
Working with David is amazing. From basic things all the way to things like ear training, and music theory. There is so much to learn from David. I most appreciated the honest feedback, this has had an enormous impact on my progress. David has also helped me create goals around what I most want to create with my music.
I met David through a friend. I bought a cheap guitar online that kept going out of tune and my friend gave me Dave’s number. I met with him about a week later and he fixed it for me-no charge. He offered me a free guitar lesson. I like his style of teaching, really laid back and patient. He’s also got a pretty extensive background in music including his own band which is cool (you know he’s not BSing and knows what he’s doing). I can tell he loves music and enjoys sharing that with others. I’ve been taking lessons now for over 6 months about every other week. He’s got a pretty flexible schedule. Sometimes we meet weekday evenings, sometimes weekends, it really just depends on my schedule. This has been a personal goal for me since I turned 25 and it feels great to finally be moving forward and learning. I feel confident that David could teach anyone to play.
David is a wonderful singing coach! He is super friendly and easy to work with. He really brought out my voice capabilities I never knew I had. I highly recommend signing up for lessons with David!
8. The Music Room
Address: 26 N Brockway St, Palatine, IL 60067 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
I am A DJ so i am always shopping for music. they have a good stock new and old titles. Helpful clerks. good prices. Good hours.
The decision to enroll our son in ukulele lessons at the Music Room has been a game changer for our family! Thank you for bringing a love of music into our child’s life!
My 5 year old just started piano classes in summer this year and is making good progress learning and familiarizing the notes and how to play. We look forward to him learning more in future years and maybe even other instruments!
Walked in this place for the first time being a non musician. Looks like a great selection of instruments and several training rooms. They have two floors of products and friendly and knowledgeable staff who can help you purchase. This is on the corner of brockway and slade.
If you want to learn how to play an instrument, don’t take lessons here. It may be good for children, but for the adult, not so much. Lots of theory, folk songs out of a book. A year or so of lessons, and I couldn’t play a thing, 4wks of lessons elsewhere and I can play 5 rock songs, this sums up the wasted money. Also instruments and gear over priced, and not gig quality.
9. Music & Arts
Address: 1476 E Golf Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60173 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
Really nice place person who helped us was explaining and helpful this was
Clara was absolutely wonderful!!
I had a really great experience- I haven’t touched a violin in six years and was a little nervous and shy about potentially renting one.
Clara was so thoughtful and kind with walking me through the experience and the benefits and pros and cons. Not only did she take the time to walk me through the basics of being good to go, she tuned my violin!
It was brand new and very loose so I would’ve not been able to do it at all by myself- and they were almost about to close but she had such a kind attitude and was very helpful and made sure that I was ready to go before setting me on my way.
She is an absolute gem!!
Amazing teachers & extremely helpful staff. My both kids are so happy to be here. Special thanks to Mr. Ross, Mr. Eric, Mr. Nate & Mr. Max
Good customer service
Do you guys also have arranger keyboards?
Brought my Horn in for a small valve string that came undon. Cost me about $171! DONT COME HERE! very overpriced for a basic service.
Their phone and chat customer support service is terrible. If you need help with orders or billing you are out of luck.
10. Third Coast Guitar and Amp Repair
Address: 17 E Palatine Rd, Palatine, IL 60067 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
John from Third Coast is a great resource in the community for all things amps and instruments. I’ve used him exclusively since I moved to Palatine for work on my guitars and amps.
John is the go-to guy, knows his stuff. When people hear there’s someone who can repair guitars and amps well, they’ll come running, knowing it’s done right.
John at 3rd Coast Palatine took care of an amp failure so I could use it for a gig within 40 minutes of walking in the door! He does excellent work and I recommend him highly to anyone who mentions they need work done. He’s fair, honest and explains issues very well. I’m a customer for life!
It was cool a good place to take my guitar and amps for repairs when I need work done

Address: 59 W Seegers Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
The man who helped me with my son’s trombone was so incredibly helpful. I wish I could remember his name. Knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.
Great service.
I started renting a violin for my daughter about a year ago. Was able to do the entire process online, and they delivered to her school. During the summer, one of the strings broke, and they told me I could go to the store or wait for classes to begin. I decided to visit the store. Jessica immediately helped us, gave us an orientation, offered water, and allowed my daughter to try the new violin (she was now needing a 4/4). Jessica was super helpful and friendly. We all left the note with that sense of having been taken cared of and a smile on our faces.
Always outstanding customer service!
Nice people to do business with
Everything music….
Great service, but some things seem a little expensive
I brought a flute in and left specific instructions asking them not to polish the body and leave the darker color. I only wanted the interior cleaned and the instrument repadded. I’ve had this flute for close to eight years and had it worked on before, leaving the same instructions. I have played with other musicians who also own discolored flutes, so I know it isn’t totally out of the ordinary.
They called before they started work on it to confirm payment method, and I once again reminded them not to polish the flute.
The repair took about a month, which I partially expected given the timing and nature of the overhaul, but I’ve never had to wait that long for a repair before.
They completely disregarded my instructions and polished the flute, ruining years of colorization I had been planning. The flute is not essentially worthless to me, as I own other, much nicer flutes.
When they asked to follow up with the repairs, they said there is nothing they can do about it. They gave me a handfull of excuses about how it wouldn’t be possible to fix the flute without polishing, something I know from past experience is simply not true. After a few brief exchanges they finally owned up to ignoring or “missing” my instructions.
They offered me a $20 refund, a drop in the bucket compared to the $250+ I spent to have it fixed up, not to mention yet again the 8+ years I’ve had the flute discolored and the planning I put into it. This felt like a slap in the face more than anything, they know they can’t undo the damage they have done and wanted resolve this for their own good merit, not for the damage they have done.
Do NOT use their service unless you like the idea of them blatently disregarding the wishes of the customer.
Lost /misplaced trumpet an lent me one in return until/if they find a new one !!! How do you misplaced / not keep track an stay organized when fixing/maintaining clients instruments very disappointed wish I could give no rating very disappointing . Customer satisfaction *
I order something a couple months ago and I am returning the instrument and the case is still not here and the prices are to high.

15. Guitar Center
Address: 2375 S Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
Great staff. Purchase a speaker system, and electric guitar for the grand kids, on separate occasions.
I recently made purchase from Guitar Center and the customer service was the best. I recommend it.
Super sklep muzyczny polecam mój syn zakupił pierwszy instrument
Mmmm this is tough, but I am really glad we took the time to go to this store. My son was looking for a guitar and we had a couple of days in Chicago. It so happened that the Arlington heights store was across from the hotel we were staying. I started by reading some of the Google reviews and honestly they scared me. But we talked it over a decided let’s go in and look. Yes, when you walk in the store looks like it has seen better days and I was beginning to think the reviews were right.
I am so glad we stayed – Best choice ever. They staff tend to leave you alone and just explore the store. I like this as we really had no idea what we wanted. My son got to try out everything he wanted. I will say this it would be great if they had a few sound proof rooms to go and test equipment in. It can get really loud in there when a few musicians are playing, but hey that has its good points to as we got to meet some people with amazing talent. When we did ask for help we got it right away. There was no push to buy or anything – very relaxed. We ended up finding an Ibanez RG (used) for a really good price. We wanted to add custom pickups and that is when the brilliance started. We got to meet one of their tech gurus, Corey. He took the time to talk with us – even opened up the guitar and told us what he truly thought (the previous owner had done a hatch job on the wiring) – still it had the feel we were looking for. Corey recommend trying the SD Nazgul and Sentient pickups on one of the new guitars they had there – and we loved the sound. They did not have them in stock but could order them. Because we only had a couple of days here , we ended up finding the Nazgul bridge pickup at another store. Corey cleaned up the guitar wiring, installed the pickup, replaced the strings and did a good setup job. He made the whole process so simple and easy for us. Again very happy with the service and knowledgable staff. 4 out of 5 – only because of the missing sound proof rooms and low stock (but really that is out of their control) Thanks Corey!
Please carry something besides Fender and Squire. It’s frustrating when there are only 4-5 brands of guitar on the wall. Would love to be able to try out a Sire bass but while they’re sold online and one of the most desirable brands out there no one has it in store.
Staff is knowlegable. Chain store that is great for beginners and pros.
I was trying to buy a “Cordoba C5-CE SP Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar” from this store. Since it’s not in stock, they had it shipped to me. I received it yesterday, but the stings looked run down, and the body had two cracks—clearly an old store model. But we were told they were going to order it from the warehouse. How did the guitar center allow such an old guitar shipped to me as brand new? Such a waste of my time!
As I was returning it to the store, the guy did not even apologize. He treated it like nothing happened, just a regular return. Horrible experience! This is my last time coming to the guitar center.
Came in Friday to buy a Fender FA345CE Acoustic/Electric ($439,) waited over 20 minutes to speak to a salesman who got very aggravated at my questions. Salesman kept walking away to answer phones and checkout other customers. After almost an hour of no help, and poor customer service, I left without buying the guitar.
I’ve been to multiple GC locations around the country and have spent thousands on guitars. When I decided to try my hand at banjo and found a great deal online I decided to have it shipped to this store so they could set the bridge and maybe give me a few pointers and make sure it isn’t damaged.
They refused to unbox the item even just to check damage. Let alone set it up for me…
I’ll stick to Highland Park location from now on even if it is an hour out of my way…
16. The String Project
Address: 510 E Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL 60074 , Rolling Meadows , Illinois , United States
They have a great collection of sheet music, and music method books. That is so hard to find these days. It’s very difficult to by sheet music online. You need to look at it in your hands in order to decide if you want to buy it.
Plus, they rent and sell good quality stringed instruments and do fine repairs.
They are knowledgeable and prices for rental are very affordable.
Good…..
Recommend
Too much costly
