Felt like home right away, great quality, and they even plugged a little extra time since nobody was there, amazing service
I love this building! It reminds me of the original Willie Wonka movie when they in the chocolate factory and the all in that hallway that gets smaller,,,, well there’s this long hallway with all these identical doors, its dreamlike, like your not sure if you in Alice in wonderland or in a chocolate factory. Sooo surreal yes I liked the studio as well. Drip is koo
2. Guitar Workshop
Address: 3248 J St, Sacramento, CA 95816 , Sacramento , California , United States
Larry “Dr. Rock” brought two of my very vintage Fender amps back to life, sparkling in a manner I’d never heard them before they’d eventually spend a couple decades in storage come the early 90’s. Outstanding work, golden tone, and great communication concerning them in the process. Luck/timing likely played a part, but both amps were back to me a week ahead of when I was quoted for completion. Well worth the reasonable internal restoration costs. Straight-forward. No BS.
Small but very good place to go Needed some parts for my telecaster and he has a huge line of all parts Is that nobody else in town has
I stopped here on tour for a very quick and easy repair on my guitar. I didn’t catch the owners name but he helped quickly and inexpensively. Rocked the gig thanks to him. Love the guitar Esus chord you hear when you open the door. Cheers!
Always been pleased with the work done on my my guitars but, doggone, the man lacks soft skills. Every time I decide to give him another chance I cringe for doing so.
Terrible service, owner is completely uneducated on the very basics. Will not be returning.
Injects politics into his business, supporting insurrectionists, and insulting people on the company Facebook page.
Find business elsewhere.
I always try to compliment people when I meet them and did with this guys store as well (door bell). After about 60 seconds of talking to him I would recommend him taking some hospitality lessons. I am new to town and had questions but obviously this is the wrong guy to ask anything, he was so rude he should just hang up a sign saying unwelcome! Never thought I would say I miss Texas but they are by far more polite people.
3. Kline Music
Address: 2200 Sutterville Rd, Sacramento, CA 95822 , Sacramento , California , United States
Great staff, very helpful, a nice little place to shop for music supplies and instruments.
Find what I was looking for right away. Great staff
Helpful and they give lessons for almost every type of instrument including the harp
Helping mostly young musicians get their start, with rentals and lessons.
I have mixed feelings about the experience good and bad
It has to do with renting a use or new instrument
I’m a long time musician. I’ve been here many times over decades. I have to admit that I often feel as if I’m being watched when I go here. My guess is they get people stealing items a lot. I only come here when I know exactly what I need and I’m in and out.
Parking here is terrible! Spots are tight and if you have a full-size truck or SUV, I would park on the side street. I’ve had a son who took lessons here at one time, and I did as well many moons ago. Overall, that was a good experience. This is one of the only places with an extensive sheet music collection.
I didnt go in but glad to know its still there
On payments to buy a clarinet for my daughter for band in November 2017 I received a new card which my payments were linked to. I have spoke with someone in 4 separate occasions and have them updated card information. However, they failed to process the payment and not that it didn’t go through because the money is there the never submitted it. So today I April 11th, 2018 I get a notice for unpaid balance of $133 since December 2017. The letter is dated March 29th and postdated April 6th. Stating to clear balance by April 9th or they’ll come to my home, go to my child’s school, or sue me for three hundred some odd dollars plus Court cost. I work 12 hour night shifts between two very demanding patient populated hospital jobs and have reached out to clear this more than enough times for them to clear this. I have no idea why they can’t or don’t submit payment as I give them the card information. Very poor company OH AND DON’T CALL WHEN THEIR CLOSED BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO VOICEMAIL SYSTEM it’s 2018 SERIOUSLY. The most ridiculous company I’ve done business with. Can’t wait to be done with them.
They didn’t have any product for me and inexperience help?
4. Guitar Center
Address: 2120 Alta Arden Expy, Sacramento, CA 95825 , Sacramento , California , United States
A warehouse full of musical instruments and people with musical talents. What can I say? It’s a great place to hang out and their products are top notch. The staff are knowledgable and the atmosphere is inviting. Respect.
Really great
Well stocked, knowledgeable and helpful personell.
I went to Guitar Center for my friend he was looking to get a piano however the customer service wasn’t the greatest there the guy that helped us I think was the only good customer service representative
Very helpful staff
Do your homework. If they were experts they’d be techs for Joe bonamossa, Les claypool and Danny Carey.
I was calling the store about 8:10 pm to check if they carry some studio monitor speakers, but they keep telling me to wait and sending me to different department and on and on till 40 minutes passed away. I had to shut the phone off! Hey they can just tell me call us tomorrow.
I know it’s guitar center. But the lack of drums setup is ridiculous. They have a room they could set up 1 acoustic kit in but its just snares and cymbals. There were 4 used ekits setup and 1 “worked” but some parts on it didn’t work. I would’ve liked to give the sticks I bought a test drive.
Я заказал пианино неделю назад. Деньги сняли сразу, а заказ до сих пор обрабатывается.
5. The Library of MusicLandria
Address: 1219 S St, Sacramento, CA 95811 , Sacramento , California , United States
My three daughters learned to be inspired in this place. Musiclandria is a land of opportunity to discover, learn, aspire, develop, engage, and thrive into a music lover. From drums and brass to sound bowls and rain makers, we rented it all! Over 25 instruments and tools came home with us. My daughters, 6,8, and 10 years old, will forever be changed from knowing this place. I highly recommend you discover it too.
This place is awesome! You can actually check instruments out for FREE. It’s a great place to explore with many different instruments and some that I’ve only heard about. The owner highly encourages you to pick up any of the instruments and play with it. They also have a lot of digital instruments as well, including drum pads and sequencers.
This place offers some amazing services for musicians. Rachel & Buddy made the whole process feel great and they were really good about COVID safety!
6. River City Piano Co.
Address: By appointment, please call first, 1609 Dreher St Unit C, Sacramento, CA 95811 , Sacramento , California , United States
They moved our piano over 200 miles and did an excellent job! We had been disappointed with a different moving service canceling and rescheduling constantly, but River City piano company was able to move our piano right away and stuck to the date, even though they had reduced staff. They had good equipment to move the piano too. I felt very confident that it was protected and taken care of during the whole process. I highly recommend them!
I bought a player piano here and love it. The owner really knows what he is talking about and was super helpful as I tried to figure out what I wanted and picked one out. I ended up getting exactly what I was looking for. And he even delivered it. I have been back since to pick out more piano rolls and have even had him back out to my house to move the piano when I was getting new carpet.
Also while there were less expensive options on Craig’slist I realized that they would likely have ended up being more expensive as I would have had to tune, likely restore and move the other pianos.
Very nice place to pick up a piano!
Used pianos from a guy that knows what he’s talking about. Prices are about double whatever Facebook or Craigslist is selling them for but he moves then himself and you won’t get scammed
I has a good time there.
Very an professional they don’t have pianos at the moment what does that mean?
Robert was very dishonest with me. Charged $50 more than we agreed on and the total charge was $400 for moving a Cline 6’1 piano. It was about 10 miles distance. He didn’t even bother to finish his job connecting the pedals back to the piano after moving. He was not professional. I would not recommend him to others.
7. Saint D Music
Address: 3151 El Camino Ave, Sacramento, CA 95821 , Sacramento , California , United States
John Gill is EXCELLENT and really cares about his work and the clients he serves.
Got my clarinet cork replaced here a while ago. The owner of this place even decided to replace some other pieces on the house. Appreciate that!
Buena tienda excelente
Not good
John has always done great work and always fairly priced – one of the best technicians in the area – otherwise, you have to go to the bay area.
Cool place
Absolutely horrible experience. I walked in without a mask (mask law has been lifted), I didn’t have a mask. So the woman asked me if I needed help, and then she started telling me I needed a mask or I need to get out. I asked her if she has a mask and she rudely said no and told me to get out they’re definitely losing customers if they keep it up
I won’t be back here. I was playing one of the guitars, and was told to stop playing because the owner was talking to a customer. I admit, it was a bit rude and did stop playing, but then it was like “if you’re not going to buy” type of things, and it was a 5 minute limit on trying the guitars. So I tried another, but same thing happened within a minute so I left. This is why I go to my local Skips and Guitar Center where I do feel welcomed and there’s no pressure in buying, play limit, have name brands, and have been around for decades.
He’s an a$$hole. He plays loud music without consideration to the surrounding businesses then has the nerve to have a sign in the window letting the nail shop customers know to not stand IN FRONT of the store waiting for appointments. He doesn’t own the building, nor the concrete in front of it. That says a lot about the type of person he is. I wouldn’t spend a quarter in that place and I hope his business fails.
9. Music Exchange | Piano Store in Sacramento, CA
Address: 1537 Howe Ave Unit 206, Sacramento, CA 95825 , Sacramento , California , United States
I was looking for a digital piano and found exactly what I needed! They have a variety of instruments, very dood prices and great customer service! Jeff was so informative, answering all my questions and demonstrating on different pianos, I went back the same day and bought my Yamaha Clavinova digital piano!
Friendly and great service!
Matthew helped me a lot.
Walked in looking for a temporary piano to rent and I ended up getting a great piano. They do not offer rental but their pianos are so good it would be silly not following their advises.
I will be back next year after taxes and upgrade my beautiful Yamaha G5 for a C7 and I really can’t wait.
The staff is super helpful and accommodating.
The piano came with a year warranty and 5 years parts coverage so I’m looking forward to working with them again soon.
I was nervous about buying so fast
But They really made me feel at ease and gained my trust right away.
From outside looks like it was remodeled 50 years a go,, inside a lot of pianos very nice salesman, prices are high” , cheapest baby grand piano was like 12k
Where dreams come true
You can’t just came and check any pianos, you must have appointment with them
10. Superior Backline
Address: 333 University Ave, Sacramento, CA 95825 , Sacramento , California , United States
This review is for Side Door: awesome neighborhood venue with a relaxed vibe. Just went to our first show there on 6/28/19 – fantastic performance by the Pisstofferson Brothers. People of all ages were welcome. No food or drink at the venue but next door to hop garden and across the street from a convenience store, Gunther’s, and Pangea. Will definitely go back
Cat l love yo.
Fantastic neighborhood music lesson stop with an attached venue.
12. Skip’s Music – Sacramento
Address: 4614 Madison Ave, Sacramento, CA 95841 , Sacramento , California , United States
Very informative! Friendly, kind and understanding our needs.
Skips Music has been in Sacramento and a part of the Sac Town music scene as far back as I can remember. I’m not certain what year Skip opened his doors but I go back to the early 1960s, battle of the band days. It was not the highbrow kind of music store that the music teachers recommended but the cutting edge, rock and roll kind of place where the youth of the day could find the tools to express themselves. Skips is still in tune with the latest technology while at the same time reinforcing the concept “You’re never to old to rock and roll !” Thank you Skip for your knowledgeable staff and wide range of instruments and accessories.
They always help me out when I need something
Good prices on used vehicles.
Buenos productos electricos ..
Good service
First off, there are some very knowledgeable sales staff here. The lutheir does great work as well. The amp tech leaves something to be desired. I buy lots of guitars and amplifiers. I don’t like wasting money, I do my best at doing my homework before I purchase. I called and talked to the amp tech who first tells me he tries when I asked him if he was the tech. I tried to have a simple conversation about tube amp reliability issues. I wasn’t asking him to bash a company, just simply make some suggestions on some amps that he does not have to repair all the time. I also wanted to know if pcb’s are worth it repair wise or handwired. All I got was attitude and him pushing me to the sales department. You claim you are for local musicians, if we can not have a honest discussion before I once again blow another 1000 dollars or more for another amp, what’s the point in me coming to skips music for my needs? My money is accepted everywhere. I have many options. I like to support American businesses and local shops. This is the second time this business has waisted my time. I definitely did not deserve attitude. Since there is a lack of professionalism, I will not be back.
Spent a month trying to get a bridge replaced from these guys. Scott was very friendly when I first called, but he entirely flaked out. I contacted them on Aug 1st and come Aug 27th when I’m trying to find out if they intend to repair my bass I’m told “I only work Mon – Wed. Call me Monday”. Wasted a month of my time.
Brought them a pick up truck of Used equiptmnt to sell they were too busy, turned us away after Christmas…. J.A.B.-57
13. Play/Music Sacramento
Address: 2416 18th St, Sacramento, CA 95818 , Sacramento , California , United States
Lisa is an excellent teacher! She teaches my 3 year old daughter and is so patient with her. She teachers my daughter piano for about 40 minutes and then for 20 minutes has an incredible studio filled with toys and and stem projects for the kiddos to look forward to after their lesson. I am so happy I found Lisa and her studio. So excited for more lessons!
Not just a great music teacher but a beautiful space that promotes learning and creativity. You won’t find anything else like it!!!
She is my teacher and she is so amazing
14. Erich Musical Enterprise
Address: 411 18th St, Sacramento, CA 95811 , Sacramento , California , United States
Deftones rehearsed here forever back in the day, and even shot their video for “Bored” here in 1996. TONS of bands practiced here over the years, and it was a super chill, no-frills, no-stress space downtown perfect for a weeknight ham and jam. Ha. Lots of incredible memories of having a blast at this spot.
15. Jeff Sahs Violins
Address: 1707 Wentworth Ave, Sacramento, CA 95822 , Sacramento , California , United States
My mom needed help with stringing her violin that she hadn’t played for almost 10 years. Jeff & his coworker were so helpful. They not only strung her violin but they tuned it & provided a cushion for comfort. They definitely know their business and we’re so kind and affordable! We will be back!
Always good work and advice.
16. Phono Select Records
Address: 2475 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento, CA 95822 , Sacramento , California , United States
I was impressed by this store the people were very friendly and they had a great selection of records I will be coming back again thanks guys.
Love this record store they have a amazing hard to find vinyl selection owner super nice very knowledgeable 100% recommend this place
good customer service and good overall treatment as far as the car goes
Accompanied my son and nephews on this trip.
Nice place.
Good selection of Vinyl. Some more pricy then others but I was able to find what I was looking for.
Cool store
Worker at the register was pretty aggressive when I was asking questions. Never been here before. Not from the area. Lame.
Really disappointed with my visit today. I selected 7 records that came to about $200, 4 new and 3 used. I approached the counter and asked if I could take a look at the used ones (2 of which had no grade stickers on them at all). I was told no, I should just trust that they are good. Then the person had the cheek to ask me what turntable I will be playing them on.
I ended up walking out and won’t return, nice way to lose a repeat customer that tends to spend $200+ on each visit.
MY RATING IS BECAUSE ITS NOT MY TYPE OF STYLE BUT FOR THOSE WHO LIKE GOTH, RADICAL ROCK, PUNK ROCK, AND SO ON I GUESS IT COULD BE GOOD BUT TOTALLY NOT MY STYLE.
17. PianoDisc
Address: 4111 N Freeway Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95834 , Sacramento , California , United States
we have been building in Pianodisc systems since 2015, very customer-friendly compared to QRS SYSTEM
I don’t really care for the new Iq update…. The tempo seems fast and staccato.
I’ve emailed them repeatedly. Finally got a reply which consisted only of asking me for information that I had already provided. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
piano disc product is ok, but documentation is useless….outdated and they simply haven’t taken the time to update BASIC instructions as new software versions have come out. How they can live with this is simply beyond my imagination as a businessman. Wake up piano disc….please update your instruction set.
18. Guitars-Flutes-Vocals & Piano
Address: Sacramento, CA 95819 , Sacramento , California , United States
It’s OK
Too funky dirty for my taste. Most likely not return. Medium Rare Records and Armadillo in Davis much better
It’s a nice little spot to buy old Vinyl Records, and Cd’s.
Soooo rude! Stated he didn’t want my “seconds” after I told him I had sold some to another store. He was so late in returning my initial call to sell, he missed the opportunity to get first pick. And how does he know the vinyls I had left were not what his clients might want. He didn’t even listen to me when I offered classical records which he might buy as I hadn’t sold any to the other store so there were no “leftovers”. Then he hung up on me. Certainly not the way to do business. I wouldn’t buy anything from him even if the item was worth $100,000 and he charged a dollar.
They have some nice CDs and DVD movies that I could appreciate but the selection was not that great and it was more like a upscale yard sale to be quite honest
Crook offered me $7 for Rubber Soul first press a long with signed Eddie Money Album. Took advantage of me and made it seem as if my collection was worthless. The owner is a crook. Bigger man very quiet.
