Nice mall. Plenty for everyone to enjoy. Worth the trip to St. Josephs.
Nice place to browse!
Cute and clean little place. Staff didn’t greet us and acted as we were an imposition at check out. We did make a smalll purchase but won’t be returning.
An interesting store to look through. They even have a store cat. Just don’t get caught waiting in line behind yuppies who think they are rich wanting to chat with the lady at the register.
Cute store but unbelievably rude staff. Staff at checkout has been rude every single time I’ve bought something at this store, so I will not be returning.

Wonderful help choosing wines. Great tasting, bought a few bottles, and will be back!
This place is absolutely fantastic!!! From the wine to the customer service! Always a smile and willing to help! If you don’t know what kind of wine you like they will hook you up!!!
My husband and I have looked forward to visiting this winery after reading about them in the Wine In Illinois brochure. We had checked out the website and facebook page and were intrigued by the wine/mead selection. We are normally dry red wine drinkers so this was a new experience for us. Tom was the friendly face that greeted us upon our arrival. He spent quality time with us, answering our questions so patiently, educating us on the history of the winery and the process of making the wines (including the fun of blending wines). He was super friendly and we had such fun chatting with him! We were very impressed with these unique wines and had a hard time making our selections because there were so many we loved. That just means we’ll be making a return visit again in the near future and someday soon look forward to opening up a bottle to enjoy at the winery. Oh and we heard mention of a possible jalapeno/chocolate blend??? Oh please say that is on the list of future blends to bottle??? If you are looking for a winery with a large variety of wines, reasonable prices, AMAZING customer service and a very welcoming environment- this is the winery for you!
Most of the wine is made with Elderberries which does not have a grape flavor. The bottles are not corked. They just have plastic caps on them. My bottle leaked on the way home.
Not the best wine selection in the area and the tasting room is a bit run down.
Cute little wine store. Lots of great gifts for wine lovers.
A very different experience at this location. The gentleman was the daughters father and a renowned wine tasting judge was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine making process and industry. The store had free wine tasting mostly of elderberries which is not a grape. Other than that it was a nice little spot to stop off at on a road trip or drive.
5. The Music Shoppe Inc.
Address: 27 E Marketview Dr, Champaign, IL 61820 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
Great staff and great prices! They also have a brand new Lesson Studio with a great selection of teachers.
I recently purchased a used saxophone. It went very well and I am satisfied with my purchase.
The person (Seth) who helped me was very helpful and patient so I was able to test out the instruments so I know what I am getting at my level.
I am a beginner and this was my first expensive instrument so I had to have lots of questions. He also shared useful tips for handling the saxophone.
Thank you!
Great place to shop.Great customer service
Last time I came in here I had an employee make fun of me/my instrument because it wasn’t high end (which I knew). Now that I work on my own instruments I know better than to put up with snobby musicians like the one I dealt with here. Three stars because I can’t condemn the entire establishment because of one or two rude employees.
It’s a good place for renting and buying instruments. They repair and provide loaner instruments.
Nice staff, wonderful selection, higher end of the usual price range though.
Looked at stuff for over 20 minutes without getting attention of any staff members on a very slow day. I literally was carrying a list of items I needed. Prices were way out of line. Selection was slightly better than Guitar Center.
I went to get my clarinet fixed and they tried to up sell me on getting all my pads fixed and thought I was a child and were annoyed I came in the store when I came to pick it up. I will not be using these services again because of the horrible service I received from the workers.
Absolutely the most unprofessional shop around ! Straight garbage
6. Corson Music
Address: 71 E University Ave, Champaign, IL 61820 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
The best music store to hit Champaign. C V Loyd was good but Dyke and the boys always set you up with what you need.
Super friendly and helpful staff with an amIng collection of guitars. They have a nice collection of ukelele , harmonicas too.
Best and oldest guitar shop in Champaign
Got a bass bag and some strings. Still using the 4 channel mixer/amp I got from them a few years back.
Decent selection, comparable prices to the big name stores
The s place was a big help been to a few other guitar store and they couldn’t help but this place could I’ll be back!!!
Stinky, dirty place, and not friendly at all.
This place isme terrible. The owner wanted to buy some portable racks from me. So I rearranged my whole schedule because I am very busy and am selling this stuff for church. The racks were visible on photo, when I got there, he told me he wasn’t interested.
Nice products but bad service. The gentleman at the counter obviously didn’t want us in the store even though it was empty.
Tried to make small talk and the guy wasn’t having it.
7. Guitar Center
Address: 712 W Town Center Blvd, Champaign, IL 61822 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
The staff were very knowledgeable and have plenty of great suggestions.
Fantastic customer service! I placed an order at GC on line for a special order item and when it arrived, the neck was set improperly. I took it to this store so I could talk to a real person and not go through a phone tree. The customer service manager was awesome. She immediately saw the problem, arranged a refund and credited it to the purchase of a new guitar and gave me a discount for the inconvenience. Can’t beat that. Although the selection is a little limited (face it, Champaign-Urbana is not the biggest market so it’s not reasonable for them to have lots of higher-end instruments), other merch you’ll need to maintain your guitar is there and the staff is friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back and recommend it to guitar playing friends.
Super friendly tech. Good selection, good deals.
Always seem to be well staffed. Very helpful.
I have visited there many times and bought 2 guitars and an amplifier from them the staff are happy to leave you to browse or happy to help. They have a room to try out acoustic guitar or banjo. They sell everything from harmonica to keyboards mixer desks drums guitars and have a selection of quality second user guitars and amplifiers.
Can’t give a corporate store more than 3 stars, but I have always received good service, and selection is ample
They lost a big sale because they would not sell to us without a mask! They discriminated against the disabled because my son will not wear a mask but is vaccinated.
Don’t have the guitar technicians here fix up your guitar! I spent $90 on the premier setup, and my guitar’s neck hasn’t been right since. The neck was set with so much relief that the notes fretted out above the 10th fret. The intonation was all out of whack. And the action wasn’t set right to prevent two of the strings from buzzing all up and down the neck.
Spend the extra money, and get your guitar professionally set up elsewhere. I’m out that $90, and I’m looking for another luthier to fix the mess they made.
Offered me 20 dollars for a pedal that they were selling used for 140… Also wouldn’t buy a guitar because”the action was too high.. And we would have to fix the strings” as if they didn’t know, strings on the neck are a simple truss rod adjustment or action on the tailpiece… I would avoid this place!! … Former guitar tech…
8. The Wheelhouse
Address: 109 N Main St, St Joseph, IL 61873 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
We had a four course plus wine dinner (takeout) which was delicious. Minestrone soup and salad as starters. I had duck breast with sweet potatoes and spinach with wine soaked cherries and oyster mushrooms. Add a bottle of red wine. Top that off with creme brûlée, my favorite. Chef Ryan outdid himself, again. He and Abe are a team. And at a very reasonable price.
First time here last Friday and we wish we knew about it earlier. Will be back soon and have recommended to many! Excellent food!
Nice ambiance
Had pretty good food
My wife and I rode our bikes on the Kickapoo Rail Trail to St. Joe from Urbana and had brunch at The Wheelhouse. The ambiance of this farm to table restaurant is very comfortable and inviting and the food was great. I had the breakfast tostadas and my wife had the black bean and quinoa burger. Both of the dishes were delicious, my wife said it was the best black bean burger she’s ever had. The dessert was too tempting to pass up so we had a piece of chocolate cake that was amazing as well. We will definitely be back.
Great dinner, cool atmosphere!
If you like setting your money on fire & watching it burn, feel free to eat here. If not, please avoid. The food was not edible & the service was not much better.
Cute atmosphere with fluid theme going on, but the menu options are poor. The food was not up to par with prices. Potential is there but big bummer in our book.
Soups were cold, salad was minimal and the quality of presentation was poor with little ingredients for prices! My guests thought their burgers were actually bad and sour so they hardly ate them, but it’s just not their cup of tea on seasoning. It’s definitely different flavor profiles, which makes them unique. Unfortunately wine was short poured, which does happen, however they didn’t offer to fix after noticing. They were focused on other guests, which appeared to be owners or of relation, so service was just ok. Bummer to not enjoy this place, maybe their menu will be updated to try again.
The portions were very small and it was very expensive
9. Sound Source Music Center
Address: 1609 Broadway Ave E, Mattoon, IL 61938 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
Im looking for a electronic keyboard with a nice sound and an amp hookup for more sound.
I dont need anything too big because i drive cross country and spend most my time driving to location.
Something not to big with a nice sound.
I stopped at guitar center but prices were through the roof and no one assisted me.
If you can rreccomend a good unit ill be glad to stop by your shoppe.
Sound Source has knowledgeable employees and a nice variety of musical instruments as well as PA systems. They also offer music lessons and sheet music.
Great DJ services!
I remember your Christmas store at the Mall always used to eye the Bass in the box and now i am playing that a Jazz Bass i bought i am now in Tennessee so thanks for helping with my dreams
In the late 90s early 2000’s this was an awesome store. Used CD’s, Ppl who loved to talk about old bands and music culture, It was different. Mind you, they still have great instrument selection, and fair prices for a small business. Some staff is decent, some have the personality of a week old gym sock. I’d say if your local, pick up your kids first instrument there and support local small business. Idk if the lead dude from x-crush still works there, but he was awesome. but it’s a lottery.
Love going there and stuff but idk if it was one of the employees or just a customer, but this older guy walked up to me and my friend and made a really rude comment about our colored hair “did you wake up late at a party or something?” How the actual heck would anyone think that is an ok thing to say?????
That was one of my favorite music stores to go to and now I’m not so sure, if it were an employee who sayid that. I’m pretty sure it was because he walked to the back after that. If you have colored hair and you take hate comments too seriously, be careful.
My family came in just a few minutes ago and they were very ride to us. My boyfriend, who is normally a very strong person, just walked out of this place in tears because they made him feel embarrassed. Smh. Rude rude employees who act like musical elites.
So you want to call on the dude behind me in line and not even greet me or tell me to have a nice day? Poor way to run a business. The old white guy at the front is rude and inconsiderate. He chose to serve the man behind me in line, likely because I’m a woman, so congrats on losing not only my 42$ purchase I got refunded today; but all future purchases from my multi instrumentalist husband that has been a customer here for over 6 years. I’ll buy from Amazon before giving my money to rude old men. Do better. Hope it was worth it for that dudes 12 dollars worth of strings.
Vine Street Ensemble added such an elegant touch to our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour at Allerton Park. My contact person was Amanda. She was kind and professional throughout our planning process. Vine Street Ensemble has such a nice variety of classic and modern pieces that are sure to compliment any wedding ceremony style. They were very accommodating when we asked them to play “All of Me” by John Legend during our unity ceremony (a piece they didn’t offer). I highly recommend them for your wedding/event!
Vine Street Ensemble performed at our wedding and reception on 9/15/2018 and were amazing! Their choice of music definitely put the icing on the cake of our beautiful day! We received a lot of compliments on how beautiful the music was all evening!
We had the string quartet play for our Allerton Park, Sunken Garden wedding ceremony, and they were AMAZING! We got so many compliments from our guests about how beautifully they played.
Amanda was great to work with during the planning process- she allowed us to choose the songs we wanted played during each part of the ceremony and definitely catered to our specific style (having plenty of options for a mixture of classical and modern pieces). I truly feel that having the string quartet play added a more romantic, classy atmosphere to our ceremony and we were so happy with it! Highly recommend!
11. River’s Piano
Address: 2207 Rebecca Dr, Champaign, IL 61821 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
Great food and always great service. Great place to “hang” in St Joe!!
Excellent atmosphere and service!!!
Pretty neat place. Amazing wing sauce that the owner makes himself. Great burgers. Kinda like a sneak n shake burger. Atmosphere is fun. Love the painting of Pete Rose.
It was rochin..
Burgers great. Live band tonight
Good atmosphere. Good food. Good service. I love having a place like this in a small town.
Use to be the food was as good or better then the cold beer. Beer is still good and cold, but the food sucks. The soup is tasteless bc it is watered-down; onion rings and wings are overcooked, to a crisp.
If you stop, have a beer, skip the food.
It’s ok
Long wait for beverage.
13. Jeeson’s Piano Studio
Address: 3202 E Bruce Acres Dr, Urbana, IL 61802 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
Pizza and breadsticks are both fantastic. Being told I need to try the deep dish. Price is more than reasonable, and the gentleman who seemed to be running the place was super kind and friendly. I will update when I do!
Delicious variety of options! Always fresh!
This place is awesome
Great authentic pizza, decent prices and they deliver!
Sometimes you can’t get ahold of them but the food is amazing and for such a great price!
Great pizza, gyros, and Italian beef sandwiches. Everything is timed to perfection.
Just called to do a delivery order to Urbana, and the guy was rude and appalled that I asked if they deliver here. Just trying to support local business during the lock down, no need to be rude over a simple question.
I’m giving Padanos 1 star for their bad attitude. Called in Sunday afternoon about 4pm (4-24-2016), for an order and asked a few questions about what kind of pizzas and salad dressings they had, and they said it’s taking too long and they hung up on me. Had my granddaughter call a few minutes later(using a different phone #) to order, and they said they didn’t have time right now and hung up on her also. Rude, rude people. I don’t care how good their pizza is suppose to be, I’ll never eat at Crapadanos and I’ll definitely let people know about their rude attitude . St. Joseph is too nice of a little town to have this kind of bad and rude business.
Called to ask about the menu and was very rude. The worst part was that he hung up the phone. I think he’s pretty upset with how his life turned out or something.
15. Byassee Music and Sound
Address: 521 W Main St, Marion, IL 62959 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
Excellent customer service, Knowledgeable associate in answering my questions. Reasonably priced merchandise.
Really great place.
Had everything we needed.
Very friendly and helpful. Nice to still have a brick and mortar music store in the area.
Best place ever to me
They sold me a violin for 2,000 and when I had it appraised the specialist said they cost $100 for a set of three. I will never do business with them again and I urge anyone to go elsewhere
16. Lanham Music
Address: 2401 N Belt Hwy, St Joseph, MO 64506 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
Helpful, friendly, and knowledgable staff. Loyal customer for years. Highly recommend.
Great customer service! Always helpful and if I can’t find what I need they’re happy to order for me to the store so I don’t have to worry about people stealing off my porch. Excited that they carry Martin guitars now.
Amazing place to be! Would be a place I would truly love to work at!
Cool great place to buy instruments for percussionist highly enjoy the model of the products their.
They were awesome very helpful and informative very polite
Won’t be back. Sent my daughter’s trombone off and a 1 week job took almost 3.
17. Miller Music Inc
Address: 4510 N Illinois St #3, Swansea, IL 62226 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
Steve fixed my tenor sax while I waited. Great service!
I’ve come to this place twice now, and both times I have been so overly happy with the quality of customer service I’ve received! Very very knowledgeable owners, and you can’t beat their guarantees! Honestly, you get your money’s worth shopping here! Family owned, and a great selection!
Had an instrument issue and went there. Solved it in 5 minutes.
They appear to no longer be in business.
Simply call to find out the brand of acoustic guitars they sold when I mentioned name brands the lady was set off very rude on the phone and hung up on me her name was Sharon
The owners were rude and condescending. I got the impression that not EVERYONE was welcome in their store. They may have a large selection of music, but I’ll take my money and my dignity to other music stores.
I took my niece to Miller Music to see about having an issue fixed with her flute. The guy working looked at it for a few seconds and said he didn’t notice any issues (leaks) visible to the eye. I then asked if it would be okay for her to play the instrument for him so that he could listen, and hopefully make a diagnosis that way. He responded with, “Yeah, hurry up.” Needless to say, the instrument is still having an issue. When we purchased the couple of instruments we have, he was polite. Now that there’s an issue, “Mr. Nice Guy” left the building. I’d never recommend anyone to buy anything else from them again.
18. Perennial Sound Studio
Address: 1116 W Washington St, Champaign, IL 61820 , Saint Joseph , Illinois , United States
Ryan was great to work with! Very comfy and really puts you in the zone! Would recommend
Full endorsement! Great studio!
I went to Perennial Sound Studio weekly for about 18 months to get help with refining my production methodology and backfilling some things relating to music theory. Ryan is pretty awesome and his space is very functional. He has some nice toys and the studio offers really creative vibe!
Jeeson is an amazing piano teacher and coach! My children have been taking lessons from her for a couple years now and I couldn’t have hoped for anyone else to send the kids to! She’s the best. She’s patient, kind, and supportive of the students as they learn. Highly recommend!!
