Our favorite place in the area to eat. Always open during posted hours, always pleasant environment, staff and great food.
Great food, fast service, one of the best Mexican food places I’ve been to in a while!
Our first time here just out and about decided to stop. The food was really good, family owed and very friendly place the lady that I can only assume was the owner was so polite to talk with, made you feel like you were family.
Very good Mexican food, and plenty of it.
Not a fancy place, but food is great and so is the service! We go there often. Awesome fried ice cream!
This place has a great Friday night fish fry. Best in the area for sure. Have not been disappointed yet in the rest of the menu either.
the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. Service was slow. Food is way overpriced . Taquitos were overdone and burnt. The Taco shell for a salad was also burnt and greasy . I was charged $2.85 extra for green sauce . Then the owner asked for a tip
Do not waste your time or money.
High prices, servings are chintzy
U got a lot going except the food. Get a real Mexican cook and reserve yur current food for Yankees.
3. Ziggie’s Music
Address: 3309 N 3rd St Ac, Phoenix, AZ 85012 , Salome , Arizona , United States
Nice place, good people, I dropped in needing some bridge parts for one of my gutairs. The gentleman gave them to me free of charge!! Didn’t really have time to check out the shop, but I’ll be back for sure ..
.
No other music store has such a unique variety of instruments. The owner and staff there are extremely friendly. The best part about this place is that there are no bench fees period!! Definitely a place to rock out with the weird and gilly.
Very helpful the information what’s good
The perfectly imperfect music store with a hometown feel.
Store hours say 10 til 6 M thru S but they don’t follow them…..went by at 230 and no one showed up…..zero stars if I could
Was looking for a decent music store but this is not it. The place is dirty, and only carries used gear. The selection was very disappointing. Look elsewhere
literally 30 minutes b4 it was supposed to close me my mom and friend were trying to get in it was closed and we were looking in it was dirty that didn’t bother me it was just the fact there were no employees there 30 before close hours meaning it wasn’t we had just missed it meaning they had closed before hand
4. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 4402 W Cactus Rd, Glendale, AZ 85304 , Salome , Arizona , United States
Nice place they have everything you can think of employees very helpful
Always very helpful, thank you
Great service. Good people
Not enough staff, didnt get any assistance for an hour…walked out
Steve in the drum department was very helpful.
A very good music store even though they didn’t have what I wanted.
Don’t hate it hate guitar center
I’ve been here a few times and never once have I been asked if I need help or if they could be of service to me, I.E ( do their job) so they had a for sure sell and lost it to bad customer service so I went to the guitar center and they got my money!
Nobody working there asked if I needed help and if you like high, over priced items, this is the place for you! However, there was a ton of electric guitars.
5. The Music Store
Address: 2630 W Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202 , Salome , Arizona , United States
I have used this music store to find curriculum for both guitar and piano on two seperate occasions. Not only did I find exactly what I was looking for, both times I went, I was also greeted with amazing customer service and friendly employees who offered to help me find the curriculum I needed. Another thing worth mentoning is their extensive and organized curriculum and book section. I was a little overwhelmed at first by their collection, but those feelings receded quickly as I realized just how organized and orderley there selections were. This is by far my favorite music store, and my go to recommendation for other musicians!
The Music Store is the absolute best place for all your music needs. They have a wide range instruments, accessories, and gear at competitive prices. The owner sat with me and gave me his undivided attention when I recently purchased a guitar. He seemed truly interested in finding out exactly what I wanted in my new instrument. His knowledge of the guitar is remarkable and I’m beyond pleased with my purchase.
As an added bonus, Brenden, in the on-site repair shop, is an absolute wizard. He set up my affordable, starter guitar and made it sound like a million bucks, for little more than the price of the new strings! Don’t settle for less than the very best for your beloved instruments.
Helpful, friendly, staff.
The instruments we have rental have been pretty worn but still work well and it is an OK deal for the price. Customer service is helpful and friendly. We have been pleased with our violin rental over this past year and will continue renting here into the next school year.
Fui una vez a ver las guitars
Great verify of sheet music and ukuleles and an awesome luthier.
I have been coming to this music store for years since I was a child. I know that their prices are higher than ordering online, but I’ve still paid their higher prices to support them. Today I came in with a question about how to get a simple cleaning rag, which was stuck, out of an instrument. The guy behind the counter was extremely rude did not answer any of my questions, told me that no one in the entire store had any experience with this sort of question. Sorry to say, but I will not be giving my business to the store any longer. I would recommend milano’s music, or ordering online.
DO NOT shop here, the employees are rude, the owner is rude, their selection sucks, not even half of what they had even a year ago. Quality has gone way down hill. It won’t be long till they’re gone.
Discriminated against me for having a disability.
6. De-No Music Center
Address: 801 E Florence Blvd # B, Casa Grande, AZ 85122 , Salome , Arizona , United States
I asked for a jasmine and had one in my hands in less than a week. A very beautiful guitar and sounds amazing. And for the very low price of $110 out the door.
Parking: If you drive a mini truck I suggest you enter from the front driveway and avoid the side street driveway all together.
Nice shop, stopped in for a music book and reeds for my son. Very helpful staff.
It’s so great to have such a great Music Store right here in Casa Grande.
They’re okay
All ways get good help
Went here for my daughter… staff was super nice and friendly… made everything so easy…
I’ve been there quite a few times before. As a child the owner was alright but somehow he just became rude after a while. There was a time when I was 19(9 years ago) and there was an 800 dollar Jackson on the wall that I really wanted. I brought $850 dollars with me and jammed out on it for about 5 minutes, the owner came up to me and said “If you put one scratch on this I’m going to make you pay for it, do you understand?” I know I look young and I looked about 15 at the time but there have been several times(like yesterday{let me play for 4 minutes and told my party to leave when I wanted to buy a practice amp}) that I brought money in to make a purchase of over 300 dollars and he makes me uncomfortable or says something rude. If you need a reed, or if you need a rental, this is a good place. If you’re a musician, and you want to try stuff out, drive 40 minutes, the owner has been rude to me for 15 years. I swear he hates musicians.
Came in for guitar picks and strings and was thinking of buying an acoustic guitar on the wall. I asked if I could play it he said “yes”. I played a couple chords and got kicked out for playing it to “hard”.
Went to buy a guitar but no assistance from the clerk was offered and large sign indicated you can’t touch them without assistance so we left. Makes it difficult to make a purchase. To be fair the clerk was waiting on another customer but just continued to ignore us and didn’t even bother to say “hello” when we entered the store. Not much available there in the way of instruments unless you need used amps, guitar stands, cheap guitars, or ukuleles.
7. Brindley’s Music Center
Address: 836 N Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85225 , Salome , Arizona , United States
I own several guitars and have been playing for 25+ years. If ever I can’t fix something myself or if it’s out of my wheelhouse I trust this place to do the work. I trust these guys for all my guitar repair needs and accessory installs on them!!
Brindleys is the best. Their focus on customer service and their knowledge of guitars can’t be beat. Seriously!
Fix it for the most part. Still feels as if the instrument is leaking from somewhere on the lower register. Still hard to push low notes without struggle.
They are wonderful people and always take care of their customer by heart.
Good music store for those looking for something specific…not much to look at for those who want to look around or window shop (especially for drum equip). Other than that, it’s a good local music shop. They used to make their own brand of drumsticks, which were GREAT, but last time I went they said they no longer make them. Bummer!
Beware DO NOT RENT from them. They lied about insurance. They RENT beat up instruments then make you pay to fix them. Was told it would be $20 per repair then at register charged $25 per repair. Will never go back. Take my advise and take your business elsewhere
After more then 10 months taking lessons a the place, and incident where the owner Bruce, disrespected my 11 year old for just looking at around the store just show what kind of service this place have. Extremely disappointed with Bruce, going back there no more. I’m sure there are other places with better costumer service.
My guitar teacher was the best, so sad situation here.
Communicated with them over offerup. They instantly got rude and snarky when asking about trades. Don’t know if it’s the owner or just a social media person but totally unnecessary treatment of a potential customer
8. Music & Arts
Address: 5350 W Bell Rd #132, Glendale, AZ 85308 , Salome , Arizona , United States
As always this place is not disappointing. Whenever I needed instruments to be looked at or fixed, this is the place I can relying on. The manager, Nikki, is professional and knowledgeable. She gets the job done! All staffs are friendly and helpful.
Great experience, friendly and helpful staff.
I’ve been coming here on my lunch break every now and then, and I’m always greeted by the nicest, most respectful and relatable crew I’ve seen working in a while.
They really know what they are talking about. Dominic, at least, was very helpful in recommending purchases that suit ME and not the most flashy and expensive or unnecessary things. I’m sure any of the team would offer the same service as well. They are passionate about music and just want to share that with the world.
Definitely recommend.
Great experience. I browsed myself, then asked for some advice and assistance. The newer employee was very knowledgeable and asked questions to pinpoint what I might be looking for. He made excellent suggestions and answered my range of questions. He even stooped his music language down to my level of understanding. Great deal on my purchase and I look forward to returning.
Thank you MUSIC & ARTS.
1 request, perhaps a searchable database of your inventory would assist in locating various items, rather than “browse to locate” with the customer.
We have not had a bad experience yet. Everyone is lovely.
Staff was super
Terrible
They have major issues with repair services and admiting/taking responsibility when their repair services have done the wrong thing. I realize they outsource repairs but they need to take responsibility when it goes wrong. The first incident was an instrument I asked for only a quote because no one was even playing the instrument. The person who took the instrument wrote on the repair request “Provide quote before repairing”. Nevertheless, they repaired it without my consent and tried to charge me $250. I refused to pay that and they allowed me to pay the shop minimum which was I think $150 at the time, maybe $180. Amazingly, I continuted to give them my business… But then this year we’ve been in to repair an instrument 3 times (not the same one as the previous incident). The first time we did a complete overhaul, replacing pads and parts, etc. But then a few months later, we took it in for a leak and it somehow needed new pads again??? Then a few months later, it had a wiggly key… They sent a quote to replace MORE PADS. So I asked to verify that they indeed fixed the wiggly key and was assured that yes, the key was being fixed also. Go to pick up the instrument and it’s not fixed, but the manager says “it’s in working condition and that’s what you asked for”. Indeed, not what I asked for, I was quite specific at the drop off as well as the follow up email that the wiggly key needed to be fixed. I understand if you’re unable to fix it but don’t charge me for things I didn’t ask for.
Since this has happened so many times now, I feel their repair service is up-charging, replacing things that are not asked for, etc, to get more money from people.
More of a gift shop then a music store. Non musician sales people, don’t have a clue.
9. Boogie Music
Address: 3562 W Cactus Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85029 , Salome , Arizona , United States
Haven’t even brought the guitar in yet to be worked on, and I’m already sold! The awesome dude who took my call literally answered every question I had before I could even ask them. Solid pricing as well! \m/
Honest, pleasant, professional, knowledgeable. They know their business and they know guitars. I recommend them.
Great store with hard to find gear …got a sweet single speaker cab for a sweet price..worth the drive from Tempe…
I just want to give smaller independent shops my business but selection is rather limited here. When I inquired about an item, they actually looked it up on the Sam Ash website and advised they can order it but 1) I’d have to wait until they do their next order, 2) it would cost more than at Sam Ash, Guitar Center, and Amazon and 3) I’d have to pay for shipping. Seriously, if that’s the way you can give me something you don’t have you’ve just GOT to know that’s a crappy deal for me. Just tell me to buy it elsewhere and that you hope you can help me with something else. They can’t seriously expect me to find that even remotely okay can they?
I have been renting a flute from Boogie music for my daughter for 3 years now. DON’T believe the 100% return on all rental fees towards purchase of a new instrument! There are loopholes for them. Not 100% of the fee you pay a month is the rental fee, roughly 2/3 is. They also only will give you this credit if you are purchasing a higher end instrument. I will have to rent a flute from them for 8 years to pay for the 1000 dollar flute they will give me the credit on. They have a much cheaper flute on their websight, but say it is not American made and that one will not count towards the credit.
While they do have repair facilities and will fix anything broken, they have not done any maintenance or cleaning on this flute in 3 years and when asked if they would, I was told bring it in and they will check it out, but no maintenance is needed.
This flute has been fine for her in grade school, but I will need to pay for it almost all the way through high school to get the trade in they will do. Just be careful make sure your child wants to play an instrument forever before getting into the contract if you want to be able to get any trade in credit.
They are very helpful and answer my questions about learning how to play the guitar.
They told me and my friend that we were in the wrong store!! How rude!
Was treated very rudely by the owner. Went there to try to sell them a guitar and he looked at my guitar and very rudely in my opinion said he wasn’t interested at all then I continue to look around the store for a little bit with some friends. I saw a stand up bass which I wanted to play in the Jazz way there was no sign or anything mentioning that this was not theirs and that this was someone’s that was there for repair. I started to play on it after moving it from where it was and the owner came back and said something to the effect of that’s not ours man that’s here for repair or something else similar. He did not at all say excuse me but that’s not our instrument can you please put it back in like a nice calm manner he said it in a way that I took very rudely and that you’ve been my friends which was 3 agreed was very rude. On top of that I feel like although the store is kind of cool because it does have some older vintage instruments from the early 20th century I just personally think that I Won’t Go Back unless that is my only option. Not everyone probably gets rude customer service but I definitely did.
Rude and condescending.
10. Monty’s Music
Address: 4845 E Greenway Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254 , Salome , Arizona , United States
I have been going into Monty’s Music since our kids were in grade school (20+ years). We would get the needed recorder for elementary school, small items. Monty’s always had what was needed.
First, Monty’s Music is a small, local mom & pop style business. It is not a big retail outlet like Guitar Center. Monty’s has personality and service that the big guys are missing.
About 18 months ago, my wife gave me a guitar and prepaid lessons from Monty’s. What I have found since that time is that Monty is truly one of the nicest individuals I know and clearly his passion is music. You can pull up a chair a just talk to Monty about music, instruments etc., and he will spend quality time with you. When was the last time you did that at a big retailer?
It is not just all about if I can save a dollar here or there, it is customer service and how I am treated. I have gone into some of the big retailers (Guitar Center for example), sure they have a huge inventory of instruments to consider, but the knowledge the employees have is lacking or flat out missing and I don’t want to get into the lack of customer service at these places. With that in mind, I would rather support a local business than a big chain retailer anyway.
Regardless, Monty’s may not have a large selection on hand, but he will do his best to get you what you need and provide you with his knowledge on a personal basis. It is for this reason that I have now purchased 4 guitars from Monty’s Music (and taking guitar & piano lessons).
I would recommend that you give Monty’s a try, pull up a chair and talk to Monty!
It’s a great place and Monty is very Knowledgeable and friendly and great prices I would recommend monty’s music to anyone
Great guy, nice little store, worked his Monte’s magic on my guitar and now it plays much easier. Will be back!!
They don’t close at 6. The sign says 6ish. Literally. That means before 5:45 anyway.
I love these guys, but just close at 5 or whatever. 6ish isnt helpful at all.
It was 5:20 when I pulled up and it didn’t look like anyone had been in the store all day. The sign says open until 6ish. Mom and pop store or not if your sign says sixish stay open until at least 6 for crying out loud. I own my own small business and could not imagine doing something so selfish and stupid to turn away a customer.
Rude… yep rude. Not sure why.
Most pompous, uninspiring, arrogant jerk of an owner I’ve ever met, will never return to this store, stay away.
11. Walmart Supercenter
Address: 100 W Riverside Dr, Parker, AZ 85344 , Salome , Arizona , United States
I love my local Walmart we were nothing until they got here.
Was out of a lot of things BUT was restocking the same time
Got everything on my list
The shelves are stocked up and got everything I needed.
Shelves not stocked ..always running out of supplies..worst Walmart I’ve ever been in.
Dont know what’s going on but ALOT of the shelves were empty…..even the deli. And when I checked out, I told checker about the case of water under my cart…he forgot, I was busy putting the bags in the cart, so the lady at the door caught it, I had to go to the self check out, BUT it was embarrassing because i felt people thought I tried to just NOT PAY . Once home looking at the register receipt I was charged 5.64 3xs it should of been 2xs. All self ck outs were open and only 3 manned registers were open. Not happy about my trip this time.
Only Walmart around. This Walmart doesn’t keep shelf’s stocked. Out of allot of thing.
Pharmacy is a joke, staff unfriendly, smart mouth,
12. Milano Music
Address: 38 W Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201 , Salome , Arizona , United States
John Des Portes was really great to work with. Patient, knowledgeable, and provided input when it was asked for and needed. He was friendly and encouraging. Over a period of several days, John helped me choose an instrument that I’ve been extremely happy with. Thank you John and thank you Milano Music.
Good service but try going during the week and not on a saturday…to manny people.
Excellent service, will definitely return
Very good place
They don’t have an elevator – otherwise a wonderful place
Good spot. Nice variety of gear, though not vast. Still, a good Mom and Pop style business.
Great place to see instruments! However the service really isn’t top notch. When I went to purchase a guitar since I am a learner, the salesmen really hesitated to truly assist me since they weren’t going to make much commission. One of the reps (John)told me in the end that i bought a “cheap guitar”. Really undermined My excitement and enthusiasm. Truly a great place for it all except service.
I called today (Saturday) and was told by an employee that they have a “skeleton” staff and no one available to sell me retail woodwind products. She went on to explain to me that Milano’s “just hires high school students” and that I should call back on a weekday. “She just does polishing.” Unbelievably, I was actually transferred to her department (repairs?). She was unwilling to tell me her name when I requested a manager and told me there were none available on a weekend before hanging up on me.
I called back directly and requested a manager. I was then transferred to the woodwind department instead and told no manager was available. Jessica (department manager) was helping a customer. I suggested that Jessica must answer to someone and that I was looking for that person, not Jessica. After 5 minutes on hold, I spoke to Josh (who is supposedly in charge of multiple departments). He was polite and listened to my complaint about being hung up on by someone who was oblivious or ignorant to my requests. He was unable to assist me either but directed me to one of their “clarinet specialists.” After almost a half an hour I was able to find out that they didn’t stock the item I wanted or something similar (to be fair it was a long shot they would).
Unfortunately, this isn’t my first issue with Milano’s Music. The sad truth is that I’ve tried to do business with this store on multiple occasions because I like to shop locally. I purchased a clarinet case from them one time in the past and was satisfied with the purchase but almost every other time I’ve been frustrated by their lack of customer service and/or product knowledge. IT IS A SHAME! They have quality items in stock and a good selection. They have several knowledgeable staff members. The real challenge is identifying to whom you need to speak and getting access to them. If you do business with Milano’s and are willing to navigate the hurdles then, IMHO, your best option is to arrive in person and be persistent. I just don’t want to put in that much effort unless it is a big purchase and then I would want better service. I’ll give them two stars because of the selection and quality of the product but am torn between that and only one star because of the frustration, inconsistency and lack of service. I sometimes wonder why I keep trying but local businesses, especially music stores, are becoming more rare. I just wish this one were better run. These problems have been present for the past 7 years I’ve done or tried to do business with them and are persistent despite changes in staff. I can only deduce that it is a top down issue.
The last two times I brought in an instrument for repair I had the worst time even getting an estimate. The first time I waited over 4 weeks after the initial two week waiting period just to find out the manager had personal issues and forgot about it. Okay, this is the first time returning since then. Again, it’s been a week since I should have gotten a call and now I hear the manager decided to not evaluate the instrument because he/she could not find my number. Really??!! The sad part is that I have never spoken with this manager during both incidents because this person is not ever available when I call. Morning. Evening.. they’re never there. I’m starting to believe there really is no manager overseeing the repair of woodwinds. I’m picking up the instrument and going elsewhere. I recommend others do the same for repair. Their sales, lessons and other areas are really great. Repair sucks.
13. Acoustic Vibes Music
Address: 2070 E Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ 85282 , Salome , Arizona , United States
This is the place for buying an acoustic guitar there is no reason to go anywhere else I drove 2 hours to get here and it was well worth it
My experience with Acoustic Vibes had been great. First, their website is excellent, plenty of high quality pics of the Insturments with full specifications. They are very responsive with regard to questions, as well as, asking questions to make sure I understand what I was buying, what type of strings I like etc. I have bought 2 guitars and the both came setup very well, and had new strings installed after purchase. Both guitars were packed and shipped extremely well. Overall a great experience, and I look forward to doing business with them in the future.
Absolutely love this place, their selection, knowledge and staff. They’re friendly and know what they’re doing. They always do a good job with setups and repairs on my guitars. Best of the best.
Best acoustic guitar selection I’ve seen
High end guitars on an eclectic atmosphere with no pressure sales.
Best music store in the area to peruse some of the best acoustic instruments by selected boutique and mainstream builders. The stock is priced between $3 and $10k but the reward for spending more is finding the equivalent of a Steinway (beautiful tone, resonance and playability) in a steel or nylon string guitar. Cheaper instruments are available, but comparing them to the better ones is motivation to indulge yourself or reward yourself for hard work in getting better. Better sound makes you play at a higher level. Check this small store out!
Very unfortunate visit, coming in to try out and buy a steel string guitar. We were greeted with passive aggressiveness and a magazine thrown across the main entrance before entering the guitar room from the shop keeper, young guy. incredibly rude and 0 customer service.
Made the whole stay unpleasant.
Monday 11:10am
Good selection, but weird atmosphere and left me feeling unwelcome. One might think such a ‘high’ tier guitar store would offer a ‘high’ tier experience, but that wasn’t the case for me. When I first entered the building I was met by a few older customers and employees and got nothing but a sour face by everyone just by opening the door, no greeting, nothing- super awkward, everybody literally stopped talking to look at me with an irritated look, as if I had interrupted something. I then had to excuse myself past the small gathering of what looked like employees talking to customers that wouldn’t move just to get to the first guitar room. I then was greeted by a salesman who instead of letting me tell him what I’m looking for, proceeds to go into a shpeel on all the different Martin models, basically making me interrupt him to tell what I’m looking for. The salesman also told me HD28s don’t come with dot inlays yet here I am looking at older models with them all over the internet. There was nobody else browsing the store in the guitar sections. I was then told I could play guitars, but the adjacent rooms are used for things like Banjo, which made it so I couldn’t even hear the guitars I was trying to play because somebody was in there clawing away. I really don’t think I’ll be visiting again, regardless of the selection. I’ll spend thousands of dollars somewhere else that takes every customer seriously. I went to Milano music right after and was treated respectfully and seriously without hesitation, and I didn’t need to schedule a high-pressure sales pitch and waste an hour of my time.
14. Music Masters
Address: 6990 E Shea Blvd Suite 110, Scottsdale, AZ 85254 , Salome , Arizona , United States
Very nice store. All the employees here are great, and very affordable lessons! I have been taking lessons here for over a year, and my fiddle instructor, Bonnie, is fantastic.
Great customer service and highly knowledgeable owners. Highly recommend
This place has the best service and The most friendliest people
I’ve visited the store several times while shopping for a cello. The selection is limited, but they have more on the website you can order from. The staff have always been patient with my many questions as well as willing to go to any lengths to find in-depth answers on finishes, woods and construction. I’d recommend them.
Nice music shop. Looking into violin refresher lessons.
15. Music & Arts
Address: 7040 E Hampton Ave, Mesa, AZ 85209 , Salome , Arizona , United States
Rusty made it super easy and painless to rent a violin. Kenzi was super fast replacing the string on her violin. Great location!
Nice little shop
Very helpful and professional. They turned and old violin into a great instrument for my forth grader.
They were kind enough to let us jam on their amp and electric guitar
Great place to purchase or repair an instrument. Alwayd friendly and provides suggestions based on cost for anything the sale or service. Strongly recommend Music and Arts.
Buena variedad de música
Went to the Music and Arts store today to purchase drumsticks and lessons. Couldn’t use my Canadian Credit card or American cash? Very disappointed
I don’t necessarily have a grievance with this store in particular but the company in general. When my children did not return in March due to COVID there was zero communication from the company as to what to do if we were currently renting from them. I called one day at the end of March to try and return the instrument and they said unless you can make it here by 5 pm tonight we are closing indefinitely due to Covid. They did not offer me any assistance or let me know there was a customer service line to call. I assumed this was a privately owned company. I tried calling today to see if I can return the instrument (we’ve been quarantined since March) and receive some sort of reimbursement due to the circumstances. The guy at the store told me there was a separate customer service number (oh NOW they tell me) that I would have to call to see if I can get a refund. I called and was told I should have called earlier to get my payments stopped and there was nothing they could do to get reimbursed for the months I have been paying for when I couldn’t return the instrument due to COVID and being quarantined. I don’t believe this is great customer service as almost every other company is offering Covid assistance and they will do nothing but keep my money.
Update- they just called me back and said if I return the instrument I could get half of my last months payment back. So I’ve been paying $27 a month for 4 months on an instrument that’s not even being used and they offer me roughly $13 dollars back. What a joke.
Spent my money elsewhere because of the masks requirement.
16. The Folk Shop
Address: 2525 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719 , Salome , Arizona , United States
A really fun little shop to visit and hang out in. Really knowledgeable staff. Cool, interesting items to explore, learn about and purchase. I stop by whenever I can because there is always something new to see and play.
Great experience. They’re very knowledgeable and nice people ñ
Great selection of instruments (look out for the dedicated ukulele and banjo rooms!), including beautiful vintage models. I bought a lovely old banjo, and couldn’t be happier! The service in the store was also top-notch – the staff are wonderfully friendly and know their stuff inside out 😀
Love the new ukulele room.
Extremely friendly. Good selection of many types of folk acoustic instruments and they let you play most of them. Somewhat limited array of different brands, thus 4 stars. I’m looking forward to doing more business with them.
Neat shop, friendly staff. Went in to see if they could help with my Djembe drum repair, but they don’t currently have anyone who can replace and restring the skin for the drumhead ☹️
Very rude disrespectful because I was asking for a part and I didn’t have a mask and I wasn’t trying to go in the place without permission and they were just very rude very very rude and I didn’t understand I was thrown off by it. Yelling at me for no reason all I wanted was a part I didn’t even try to go into shop told her I’d wait outside because I didn’t have a mask she slams door in my face. So I go get a mask and they won’t even deal with me I was the up most respectful and didn’t deserve that. Very very rude!!! I’ll never do business with them again.
Well, over the years I’ve bought, sold, and traded with Paul and really wouldn’t do so again. The last guitar I purchased there had broken tuner barrels and more important, his pricing and moods vary wildly. Certainly lots to look at, but no great shakes in terms of quality or pricing.
I am absolutely incredulous as to how condescendingly I was treated over the phone by this place. I arrived with my Taylor 312-CE looking to trade up and quite likely spend substantial chunk of money. I noticed the posting on the door that read (I may be paraphrasing) “masks required even for those vaccinated.” I have been twice jabbed with Pfizer, but no problem. I get it. I understand it. People may not be fully honest about their status and might contaminate others. I have zero issue complying with the policy The posting also read “do not knock; call to be granted entry” (again, I may be paraphrasing, but this was the gist). I keep a KN-95 with me in the car but couldn’t find it. Maybe it fell behind the seat or something. I ring their number. A woman answers. Convo goes like this: “Hi, I noticed you require masks even for the vaxxed, which I am fully, but I can’t seem to find mine here in my car….I’m here outside….do you happen to have any masks there inside the store that you could pass out to me”? (like logical, sensible merchants across town, the state, the country have in abundance in case you forgot or can’t find yours—sterile ones for the taking in boxes) “If not, I don’t live too far. I can run home, grab one and come back”. The woman on the phone raises her voice and says “NO YOU NEED TO WEAR A MASK” and abruptly hangs up!! Um, I think I got that part and more than amply communicated it back. Wow. And delivered with a tone of voice akin to Mrs. Gulch from Wizard of Oz. I was perfectly polite, acknowledged the policy and was willing to go out of my way to comply. This is not only ridiculously bad policy, but there was not even basic intelligible, lucid communication on her part. Not the conduct of a sound minded individual.
Now, for some background. I have never made any major purchases at Folk Shop. However, I have patronized them over years–even before I moved to Tucson. The first time, I was recording an album visiting from Austin in 2014 and needed a dobro capo. The engineer called around to Guitar Center and few other places. They didn’t even know what a dobro was, much less a dobro capo. Folk Shop to the rescue with a Paul Beard capo, just like the one I had forgotten and left back in TX! I’ve been there since for strings, straps, stainless steel slides etc. Never ever the slightest of problems. What happened today is totally inexcusable. I myself have been fastidious and a stickler about masking and distancing throughout the pandemic, but this kind of post-mandate fanaticism, illogic and outright meanness is beyond the pale. They certainly don’t want my money or any of my future business. To hell with this place. l’ll buy a guitar from Musician’s Friend before stepping foot in there, even though I prefer to shop locally.

Big lots, nice people but very dusty. Staff is nice, manager is not.
Overnight on the way to quartzite.
We stayed here for four months. The sites are large (40×50), gravel and dirt. There’s no table or fire ring, and no shade. You can have a barbecue grill, both gas and charcoal, but there are quite a few days that are so windy, it wouldn’t be advisable. There’s a strong community feel about this campground, and as newcomers we were made welcome and accepted as part of the community. We felt so “at home” that we made reservations to return next year, which is a rarity for us.
I have never stayed at this RV Resort. We had made a reservation for two nights but had to change plans as things often do while on long trips. Our reservation is over three weeks away and they refused to refund the one night we already paid for. I totally understand if you cancel and your reservation is that day or even the day before, but seriously three weeks ahead of time. We will now never make a reservation there again because they stole our deposit. Make sure your plans are iron clad or they keep your deposit.
Unbelievably controlling, Very Extremely Discriminating!! Love to create New rules at the last minute to continue their over-bearing control over other people! Don’t Stay Here!!
I’d love to give a better review but they’re not actually open they’re seasonally restricted and if and have not been opened recently I would like to try them and change my review at some point in the future
