My son took piano lessons at this location. I trusted them with my credit card information to debit the amount every month. I never really checked my statements but after a few months I found out that they have double charged me for one month. I brought it to their attention and Yolanda who is the manager for lessons completely ignored me and said they can’t go back more than few months and my bank said the same thing. They stole my money. Never apologized and didn’t even give me credit for my son to take more piano lessons. If you take classes with them make sure they don’t double charge you. Very disappointing
Staff was not helpful when I asked about guitar strings. First guy seemed too bothered so I asked another employee who tried to help but was ignorant. Then after waiting 5 minutes to pay and the cashier walking away, I went to the Drum section to pay where the girl was on the phone the whole time. This is why brick-and-mortar stores are going away I will just order from Amazon or Ebay from now on. Lesson learned.
Crowded. No customer service. waited and waited. Finally just left.

I received outstanding, prompt, detailed and friendly service today. Immediately got a text message with all my questions answered. I only asked one simple question and I was replied to in detail with no need for me to ask more questions! Literally blown away. Then I called the store and spoke to John. He was amazing! Simple, easy, super friendly and easy going! My interaction with your company literally made my day better! My problem was resolved and I was put at ease! Thank you again text messenger! THANK YOU JOHN!!! I will be recommending your company to anyone I encounter interested in music!
Love the I’ve from the workers very polite
This is a cool little family type music store. I used to get sheet music here years ago. They were always nice and super helpful
Bought two Bach Strads from them a while back, a Trumpet (LR180S72) and a Flugelhorn (183S) at an absolute bargain of a price. The one gripe I have is that they take a little while to do repairs, as they send the instruments to San Diego to do so, but other than that this is a great place for all enthusiasts.
Both beautiful and professional people everytime I go there they have something new the only downfall of bertrands music is they don’t keep what they sell if you don’t get there in time its a wrap and it would be nice to have the instrument repair technician on site there’s only one other place I know that can give bertrands music any kind of real competition but they don’t advertise on the internet so more power to you bertrands people bertrands website doesn’t sin to cater to my phone service for some reason so I can’t see the instruments they have therefore they only get 4 stars I will updated accordingly and since we are name dropping raelina Espinosa and I have also noticed there are no bad reviews at all that’s good stuff I’m claiming that place LOL
Very nice people, but I was a customer willing to pay for a horn, but wasn’t taken seriously at all. I went to another place, got my dream horn from the wall, and bought it there for $2000 less than what this place wanted. They said they were going to call me back, when my horn was ordered and ship to them, but one month later… still no call, so I decided to go back, and they yet have ordered the horn I wanted. They offered me brands I wasn’t even asking for, and insisted i buy that brand instead of what I WANTED.
Would not go back to this place. I went to to purchase reeds for my granddaughter . Cashier said I need to make a account I said I just here to buy reed’s I don’t want an account. She gave me hard time then called on her phone talked to some one said I could pay cash since I didn’t want to make an account. I said I don’t want an account I have my credit card n Id ,asked for my phone number.

I recently got my equipment stolen and the night before I was to leave for a gig in Arizona, Victor showed up at 2am from 45 minutes away to hook me up with everything I needed so inbound make it to my gig!!!! This company is awesome!!!! I highly recommend them because they’re service is second to none. They now have a client for life! Thanks Victor!
Needed some violin maintenance for my son and the owner Fernando was very helpful & knowledgeable. He made great suggestions to help my sons instrument to sound better. Good prices on the items I purchased and he also gives music lessons for a low price. I’ll probably be back for a lesson soon.
No es verdad que habrán Domingos. Yo fui y estaba cerrado.
Good service
When picking up a repair, they had someone working the counter who didn’t know 1) where my guitar was, 2) if and how I could test it, or 3) how to work their cash register system so I could pay. The employee said they didn’t really know anything and was just covering, but they had to phone a supervisor 3 times get information and the pick up took way longer than expected.
I get it, folks are busy, but if an employee is covering during opening hours they should have some base line of training… right?
Also if you’re gonna pay this business money for something, make sure you have Zelle or venmo since that’s what I ended up having to use, and don’t expect a receipt!
They also lost the little screws on the backplate of the guitar, and since they don’t do repairs on site they couldn’t replace them when I picked it up and said I’d need to pay 10 dollars and do another repair.
All that to say, the guitar does work and sound good though, but I doubt I’d go here again if there are other options.

We went and bought my daughter an Amp, a stand and some other things, the staff is very knowledgeable and professional. Love them we will be back soon.
Great small town music shop
It was good they were all great
It was a nice place the service was friendly and nice and they have a lot of variety.
Very nice employees
For the only music store in the high desert it’s ok. They only had one pair of monitors and they had buzz right out of the box. It’s not ground buzz though.
Very expensive and no bueno
I want there
they will sell you , but there a bunch of kids that cant fix a string buzz
9. Village Music
Address: 40729 Village Dr, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315 , San Bernardino County , California , United States
Un buen lugar para comprar música clásica de todos los estilos
We got some strings for my sons acoustic guitar. We spoke with Ted. He is knowledgeable and kind. He was very helpful.
Really “phoning it in” with the variety. Very few early recording of popular music and only new pressing of the most popular releases. Nothing in between. It’s mostly an instrument shop with some records to keep the shop open.
Very expensive. Great customer service. Sometimes you luck out on what you can buy.
Cool vibe but very cheap instruments
As a few others have stated, who I assume is the owner is exceptionally rude and condescending. Came in looking for a turntable stylus to which he responded “That doesn’t tell me anything, what you got?” When I told him what it was he answered “well I won’t have any anyway, but I can tell you how to go about getting one” and rants about diamond Vs sapphire. So why ask me what turntable I have if he doesn’t carry anything but Crosley. A complete waste of time and a terrible attitude. Prices for what is there are overpriced.
I’m a professional musician living in Los Angeles. I recently vacationed in Big Bear Lake, and met a restaurant owner up there who was looking to take guitar lessons. I called Village Music, where I had stopped when we were there, and asked if the owner could recommend a guitar teacher in the area. The guy who answered the phone couldn’t have been less helpful. After he said he couldn’t recommend anyone, he told me there were two good guitarists standing in front of him, asked him if he could ask them if they know of anyone. He refused to ask them, and said I should come in and look at the postings on his bulletin board. When I told him I was no longer there, and lived in Los Angeles, he said, “Good for you.” I then asked, “Are you not going to help me,” and he said, “no.”
I feel sorry for anyone up there who might want to make some money teaching guitar. This guy doesn’t care.
Most unfriendly staff I’ve encountered in Big Bear. To musicians looking for an instrument, don’t waste your time. It was empty for a reason.
Very knowledgeable and professional. Friend atmosphere. I would highly recommend Redlands Guitar
Wonderful evening out
. good little family shop
Great prices, quick service, not very personable
Gouchy old man.
Don’t usually write reviews but this place is so horrible I felt I had to. Took my band new guitar for a basic step up. They did a horrible job and damaged my guitar. Employees are extremely rude and the owner is the worst of them all. Don’t give this place your business.
I rarely write a scathing review, so I decided to sit on my experience here for about 3 months before finally deciding to write a review. Unfortunately, I also rarely have experiences which feel so belittling, I can’t let them go. My recent need for musical supply led me to remember the poor experience I had here….
I’m an avid guitar learner, fairly new to the scene, but not as a musician (I play piano and ukulele quite a bit). I came here looking for advice as a poor student who received an acoustic guitar for a gift, but was headed toward Flamenco style playing. I came here asking if it were possible to use nylon strings on my acoustic temporarily until I could afford a classical guitar to facilitate my style. It’s a noob question, but remember I was very new at the time.
First off, what I liked:
The place was clean, had a great selection, and nearly everything you could need in short order at a guitar store. They had more than just guitars, which I really liked, as I appreciate a wide variety of instruments. Someone had come in and was playing one of the guitars. Beautiful piece to whoever that was. The laid back atmosphere hit me instantly and I expected great things from a shop that rejected the corporate giant feel.
What wasn’t so hot:
Unfortunately, what I got was the complete opposite. I was asked if I needed help, and I told an older gentleman (probably in his late 50s early 60s) about my circumstance with my guitar, and halfway into my question, he cut me off and started talking to another employee. Note: this wasn’t the long winded version. I simply said I received an acoustic guitar, started playing flamenco, and wanted to know if I could switch out stri—…. That’s as far as I got. He called another employee over and speculated on what on object was on his counter for about a minute while I stood their awkwardly. He finally returned to our conversation, I posed the question, and he said, “No,” before returning to his conversation with the employee. He didn’t offer me any other service, and for all intent and purpose I was invisible.
Final Verdict:
Maybe this guy was having a bad day. Perhaps he wasn’t a regular employee. Perhaps he was the store owner. Who knows? All I know if that I left feeling stupid and an inconvenience to the gentleman. I loved his shop, but I find behavior to a customer who would have used his services and supplies (he’s the closest guitar place to me) 100% unacceptable for business image. If I ever return and find the service more palatable, I would gladly remove this negative review. But for the service I received….
I rate this business as 1 star and would NOT recommend using them in the future.
From other reviews, I can see this shop is normally a great shop in the community. I can only hope I find the same service at a later date.

Very knowledgeable and friendly lady at the cashier’s desk. I will definitely do business with this music store again.
Helpful and knowledgeable
We had our flute serviced here and they did a wonderful job. All staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you!
What words can adequately express my disapproval with this place? Two months ago, my violin bow required a rehairing, so I sent it to this place, as it was the cheapest. Turns out, it was cheap for a reason. Upon taking it home, the hairs fell apart within a week, and I had to send it in again. Concurrently, my brother, also a violinist, sent in his bow to be rehaired as well. A couple days after he received it back, it collapsed during his violin lesson. When I received mine for the second time, the hairs fell apart yet again in merely two days. So, as if we had not yet learned from our prior mistakes, we sent it in for the final time, hopefully. When we gave it to the associates, who had assurred us that they would not charge us, they insinuated that my brother and I had been mistreating our bows, asking, “Have they been sword-fighting with these?’ It was amazing that never once did they apologize; instead, they chose to shower us with condemnations, as if we were the culpable ones. Well, I learned a valuable lesson, to be sure: When it comes to Nick Rail’s, dispense with quality, bring in inadequacy. You would do well to never frequent this place.
Adult musicians, do yourself a favor and save yourself the trip.
I play the alto sax and guitar and want to learn the violin–I always have. I lived 10 years in the DC area and am still not quite remembering where all the instrument shops are around here. But I have started my search around Redlands and am finding nothing by way of violins to try out. Everyone online says “You gotta try them in person. You gotta try them in person.” So you make special trips to these stores and they have nothing in stock.
Look, I’m not a stupid person. I know beginners tend to start on a beginning instrument when it comes to violin. But since no one in town has any violins (at least so far), I want to go straight to an intermediate instrument to save myself the headache for when I advance.
But the guy gives me the condescending “you’re a beginner lecture” on how beginners should start on a beginning instrument since my pitiful ears won’t hear any difference. Then he recommends I get a teacher before buying an instrument. But you know what, guy? You’re just trying to sell me the one Eastman you have in stock.
You. Don’t. Have. Any. Other. Instruments. In. Stock.
Come on! You want me to go get a teacher, waste his/her time waiting for you to order 2 or 3 (just 2 or 3?!) so I can try them out? And what if I don’t like those 2 or 3? We have to wait for more to come in? Then I say fairly dejected at how my pursuit of one measly violin is going in the Inland Empire, I say, “Ohhh… kay… I guess I’ll try later, then, I guess.” And the guy says, “Ok…” He just lets me walk out the door. I guess they got it that good over at Nick Rail.
I tell you what. Everyone online says to buy in person, don’t buy online, but the most helpful people ARE online. The quality information and help IS online.
Online is where I will buy an instrument. Forget supporting local business in this regard. Dude at Nick Rail: If the instrument breaks, I trust people online far more to take care of it for me than you. 🙂
Nick Rail Music is for kids and parents. Period. The sad thing is that going by their positive website and videos, I thought I might have found a good place to be a long-term in-house customer. haha
I have an old baritone sax. Up until a couple of years ago, it played just fine. I basically concentrate on my soprano, alto , and tenor. Occasionally I play the flute/piccolo. The bari spent most of it’s time on a stand, unplayed for a couple of years. It got knocked over a couple of times and a couple of things got bent (register key, key guard). I took it to them and they said it needed a complete overhaul. I disagreed since the last time I played it, it played fine. Even gave me the “your car needs a major overhaul and you just want me to put spark plugs in it’ analogy. I took it elsewhere and they straightened the key and the other physical damage, replaced a spring and a couple of pads and the neck cork and it play just fine once again.

Nice to see all the new equipment and there’s always someone asking to help me… Nice
Awesome service as always thanks
Love the music
My daughter and I went to buy a clarinet recently and found a wide selection to choose from. The man that helped us out was very friendly and explained all the options well.
I have a good time. I like
Big store for music fans and musiquians.
Recomended.
I ordered $6 worth of Pearl Drum parts on December 4th. When I placed the order, I was told it would take 7 to 10 working days. The order wasn’t placed until the 9th of December. After calling Sam Ash numerous times over the past month to determine where the parts are, I finally spoke with Pearl Drums and FedEx, the shipper. FedEx says that the package was lost. There is now a case number for the lost package. Pearl Drums will not sell the parts (2 bolts and 2 wingnuts) to me directly. They will only sell through music stores. They are now going to follow-up with FedEx with the Case Number I provided them. In the whole process, not one person has been proactive or concerned about the order. I know it was December (near Christmas and Hanukkah) and I know that it was only a $6 order. Regardless, the customer service has been non-existent at Sam Ash, Pearl Drums, or FedEx. I am going to do what I should have done in the first place and that is to go to the hardware store to find similar bolts and wingnuts. I wanted to use all Pearl Drum parts on the Pearl Bass Drum stand on which the parts go but am finding out that it is not worth it.
I will never purchase anything from Sam Ash again. That goes for the large purchases I usually make of PA gear, cymbals, guitars and accessories, microphones, drums and drum accessories. I will go out of my way and pay more elsewhere. They don’t deserve my business. They certainly haven’t earned it.
I went to Sam Ash with my nephew to spend a gift card he was given. He had a few questions so we looked for some assistance and found Steve. We were explaining the scenario to him and he did not seem interested in helping us what so ever. He just sat there looking at his computer screen. Made no eye contact. No suggestion. No referrals to other team members. He had one word answers to anything we said and was acting very annoyed. The security guard at the door on the other hand was very friendly and witnessed the situation. He even encouraged Steve to engage more, but Steve wanted nothing to do with us. In the end we figured things out for ourselves.
Had a very negative experience, not with the products or the quality of instruments, but in the customer service. One employee even had the audacity to argue and seek out confrontation with me after I tried to assist a customer in buying a guitar. I gave my own honest opinion and experience with a certain brand and the employee decided that it was time to seek out a argument. This was very disappointing because this store had quality instruments, but I will never shop here again.

Great small shop. Good resource place for your guitar needs.
Friendly owners who are real muscians
So glad to have this place for strings accessories and fun chats with the owners
Great litlte store and helps its cistomers very well with questions and repair or maintaining instruments..
Great place ..has everything I need
The only music store in high desert.
I love the store and their prices but I’ve only ever been able to go in once or twice. They always seem to be closed even when they’re supposedly open. Kind of sucks when they’re the only music store in town.
Nice folks got some nice things in the shop! BUT I had a set up and string change done after traveling from the east coast and it looked like a child wrapped the strings around the tuners.. and it would not stay in tune (obviously) so would not recommend a set up!

Seriously like the best music shop, time and time again, it really shows how great Travis and his gang over there at the Rancho guitar center , I’ve been coming here for YEARS and brought my son in the other day and was helped By Jeromy, Michael, guitar department guy who was so cool
Too and I feel terrible for forgetting his name , in his name tag was like shredder or something badass
And MY GUY Travis
Talk about music specialists in every department
Helped my son pick out his drums and a new amp , I never
Do reviews eiws but when I do there for someone who really deserves it , this place rocks ! Thank you so so much for the service and just for making my family’s day and the wonderful vibes !
Knowledgeable!
I usually get great service but not today.
The rancho store has great staff but the san bernadino store were rude & more worried about going home. So thats why i gave them only 3 stars.
The employees don’t really want to help anybody. All they wanna do is chat with their friends about guitar stuff. It’s impossible to get any kind of service in this place
Guitar centers usually look good and are clean. Problem is, they are nearly always populated to some extent by “noodler’s” who *never* buy anything, preventing any actual buyers from hearing an instrument they are interested in. Every dept., it is consistent, every guitar center I have been to. Used instrument selections are often small, more are online, so one must attempt to find a near match at a local store. Employees can be helpful when not busy.
Watch out for this guitar center and possibly all. They like to give you used/returned items when you in fact bought them with the intention of being new. Happened to me once when buying an anolog synthesizer. I returned and they switched it with a new one rightfully so. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This time around I bought some studio monitors and sure enough they were used. This one was obvious when I opened them because it had a return shipment label that I suppose they had forgot to take out. This all happened in just a little less then a year. If you’re going to shop here for things just make sure that the stuff they give you, unless otherwise obvious, is in fact brand new and not some used up stuff.

Great customer service. Very verse in all instruments.
Easy one stop shop. Been here many times and his prices are very reasonable
He has a great selection of brass equipment and is very helpful with any questions.
Any instrument you could ever want at reasonable prices nice elderly gentleman with a lot of knowledge help you and guide you
Good customer service.
The guy there was rude and pushy, he had multiple customers willing to buy from him but he had an attitude when he wasn’t able deal with all of them at once. They should hire more people to help around and expand the store. It’s cramped and dangerous to walk around because you could walk into drum sets and you’d have to pay for the expenses if you break it. Overall, needs to get a bigger space and hire more people.
They weren’t able to help me.
I bought three flutes from him and only one of them where able to play D and E Flat(i just need to get the pads replaced)I even took the sencond flute i bought from him and gave it to him to repair,i get it back STILL DIDNT PLAY D OR E FLAT
20. Music & Arts
Address: 8615 Base Line Rd, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730 , San Bernardino County , California , United States
They have variety of guitars but hard to test high end guitars as they are not available in the store. They can order it for you..
Save your contracts because you may be screwed like we were…..we bought insurance in case the rental broke. Well the rental had to be exchanged once and apparently when you make an exchange with the insurance the new instrument no longer follows the original contract. So now that i am here trying to end the rental because we want to keep it we cant. So no longer rent to own like it originally was rented to you. Ridiculous. Beware
I responded with details as instructed by the post from music and arts below and i never heard anything back. Basically blew me off!
I’ve been a customer here for over 10 years and have had both guitar and voice lessons from the wonderful teachers here. I’m so incredibly saddened to hear that two incredible teachers who were so very knowledgeable and kind have lost their jobs because they fought against policies that were immoral to Music and Arts students and teachers. Know that if you decide to support this business you are supporting a corporation that fires teachers who are fighting for the best for their students and a corporation that has increased the charges of their studios for teachers and students. What a sad, sad day for Alta Loma Music and Arts.
I’ve been coming to Music & Arts Center since it was Alta Loma Music, and ever since the changeover things have gone downhill. The teachers are what make this place great, and now management has made it tedious to continue having lessons here as they made it policy for my teacher to drop their students after missing two consecutive lessons. My teacher attempted to resist this and was terminated as a result. Genett has been teaching for decades and she is truly passionate about her students. I will not support this retailer nor its lessons program as it has really gone downhill since they purchased Alta Loma Music.
