I recently had the pleasure of immersing myself in the enchanting world of Xueyao’s best musician, and I can confidently declare it a mesmerizing and unforgettable experience. This artist’s ability to weave intricate melodies and evoke deep emotions through their music is nothing short of extraordinary.
From the very first notes, it became evident that Xueyao’s best musician possesses an innate gift for storytelling through sound. Each composition is a carefully crafted narrative that takes listeners on a sonic journey through a myriad of emotions and landscapes. Whether it’s the hauntingly ethereal tones that evoke a sense of longing or the upbeat rhythms that ignite a surge of joy, this musician’s versatility is truly remarkable.
Never have I seen such a talented and charismatic performer.
Gonna be honest, I was a bit skeptical when I bought the tickets this, but I was blown away.
Give him a chance, and you will not regret it.
You will be dancing and feeling the joy of music.
Up close, he is very friendly and humble, taking time to interact with fans.
Never have I been so impressed with an experience.
Gonna say it loud and clear: he is the best musician of his generation.
Let me just tell you.
You will not… be… let…
Down.
What more can you say? He really is the best musician
Disappointed with the music. Don’t go!!

4. Clock Tower Music
Address: 676 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070 , San Mateo County , California , United States
I cannot recommend Clock Tower Music enough for instruments, books, accessories, anything you might need for your musical journey. I am a local piano and cello instructor and I get all of my materials from Clock Tower Music. They really care about their customers. There aren’t many places left that have this level of customer service and quality. Susan and Brian are extremely helpful, especially during such a trying time. Thank you Clock Tower Music!
GOOD FOR MUSIC LESSONS – especially for kids.
Had a great experience getting my guitar worked on. Quick, friendly, and affordable.
No gloss, no lipstick, no glitter – just music stuff and music people. A throwback treasure that I feel blessed to have nearby.
Peter was great to work with. He let me try out a hard to find guitar. I highly recommend B Street.
I called about bringing in my son’s Yamaha MX88 which appeared dead. Gary was so helpful and suggested before we do that to check the power supply. Bingo!!! that was it!! Thank you Gary! You were so kind and knowledgable. I highly recommend these guys. 10 Stars **********
Friendly and they know their stuff.
tiny tiny shop. sad to see they downsized and the people renting musical instruments etc. has declined over the years.
7. Gelb Music
Address: 722 El Camino Real, Redwood City, CA 94063 , San Mateo County , California , United States
drum shop here is all pro level gear and things that are sold out else where they have by the loads here , been coming here for years don and rob answer all my drum needs and heres a new dw performance i just bought from gelb , will be coming back
Very nice selection of bass gear.
The only music store that carries my drum Stix!
Bye bye GC!
Price is not the best
Selection is really good. Nice instruments, And I like the atmosphere. A classic old store, kinda historic. A little pricey (for this I blame the insanity of real estate in the area, not them). Some music store staff are great. Some are typical.
I have found that music store workers are mostly of two varieties: the typical kind, who tend to have this undercurrent of rather sexist, judgmental pressure, and those who just love to connect people of all kinds to what they need.
Sigh – this place has both.
Unfortunately, there are a LOT of the typical kind in this world, and female (or otherwise not “Rock Star” types) really feel it. It is like they somehow need to prove that they are more knowledgeable than me, or something. Very tiring. I want to tell them, “look, I know you wanted to be a professional performer and it feels degrading to be working in a music store, and that you feel like selling stuff to female musicians makes you feel even further from your standards of your own self-image. But you really need to heal that, not surround yourself with a bubble of asserted wannabe dominance. It is not helping you at all. this is actually a really cool .”
To be fair, I only really got this attitude a little here, and it was pretty subtle (but there). Everyone else has been fine. But even a little makes it hard to want to come back. I think music store owners need to screen this, and train people out of it. Or better yet, hire some good female staff.
But I do come back, because the location is good and they have good stuff and they are historic and small. I like them overall. And it is very rare to find places that do not have that phenomenon. So they are not losing my business any time soon. I just hope that one issue gets fixed. Everywhere.
Great customer service. Big instrument selection.
Very disappointed this time as they are being unprofessional. I ordered guitar cleaning service, but when I picked up my guitar, it was only half cleaned. They explained that when they were doing the cleaning, they figured out that they didn’t charge me enough.
Okay, then you should have given me a phone call, explaining everything, not just leave your job half done.
Act as though your doing them a favor by comming to their store .drum shop clutterd and sales person un interested in helping rather be looking on lap top then doing much of anything else certaianly not cleaning or organizing i used to go to the old drum shop in the 80s cool vibe then .theres a reason sweet water is killin brick n mortar stores
I just experience the worst service, something that was going so good, ended up leaving the me (customer) unpleasant and dissatisfied. Im in need of a power supply for a unit which i purchased from Gelb music store about 6 years back. In fact it would’ve been my third time getting an adapter here. I saw online that they have it stock, i drove from Napa to redwood city due to familiarity. Multiple staff tried to help find an adapter that works. One older staff insist to take over. He found one unboxed among spared ones without a price tag. The older staff therefore told another staff to charge me(customer) $25 for that old charger.. (let it be known, newer charger/ adapters are between $10 and $20)
How do you come up with that figure?
Oh the black man has to pay more huh?
Omdb they’ll never have my business again.
The older staff viciously took back the adapter and said i was assisting his time. Thought you were working?..
8. KEN SU VIOLINS
Address: 2199 S El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94403 , San Mateo County , California , United States
I recently purchased a fine violin from LA, but there was some issue with the setup so the sound and response were not at its optimum. I took it to Ken and he quickly identified the issue. He replaced the soundpost, fixed the loose tailpiece and setup the proper string length. Now my violin becomes much more responsive and the sound also opens up by a lot! He really brought out the potential of the violin. The charge was also very reasonable.
Always a pleasure. Easy to work with whenever we need a repair or a new size and my daughter gets great sound from her cello.
Great store to buy violin and its accessories. Friendly service
We went in for purchasing bigger size violin, the employee, didn’t let my daughter tried on any of the violins, insisted that we trust him for picking the violin and pressured us to purchase. We didn’t realize the violin is a poor quality one until my daughter played it at home.
Went back to Ken Su for return the next day, the employee insisted that my daughter did play the violin before(how is holding the violin for sizing considered playing?). Ken Su then acted hostile in front of my kids and our violin teacher who accompanied us, BLAMED me for not trying the violin.
My kids had been renting and then purchasing his violins & viola for the past 5 years. I thought we could trust him that all his instruments are of good quality.
We will not be going back.
My student was pressured into buying a violin without the option to try it (she is advanced enough to make her own decisions and would have brought it to me for approval). Ken su’s assistant played them for her and let her only hold it before saying that this was a good instrument. She came home and did not like the tone and found it to be lower quality than her previous instrument so I accompanied them for a return. Ken su’s assistant lied to me and told me that she had played on it and that the mom seemed happy when she left the previous day and tried to deny them a return. I was asked what took them so long (they bought it before closing the previous day, and it was an hour after opening on the following day when we were all in). The return eventually got sorted out, but Ken demanded that my student’s mom admit that she was wrong, which she only did so he wasn’t more aggressive.
I have a lot of students rent instruments from Ken Su, but this experience makes me unable to continue suggesting this as a viable option. I don’t want my students to be denied the option to play on their upgraded instruments nor do I want employees pressuring them to buy instruments.
Ken later apologized to me in a private message, saying if he knew it was one of my students then he would have pulled out the “good instruments.” Seriously?! Everyone should receive the same quality shopping experience.
Furthermore, I tried posting this several times on yelp and encouraged my student to do the same, but our review was taken down each time. Why can’t we speak openly about what happened?
9. Haight Ashbury Music Center
Address: 728 El Camino Real, Redwood City, CA 94063 , San Mateo County , California , United States
Awesome place with awesome staff. Helped me with my first build every step of the way, giving solid advice on each component to consider. Came out with a beautiful gigging guitar. Great for beginners to pro level musicians.
Nice and friendly! Also pretty efficient.
These guys do a great job. Best place to buy strings in San Francisco. Check out the cool pictures of Jerry while you’re there.
Last time I was here they were going out of business. I tried to make them a deal on a box of records they had. Needless to say they would not budge and they kind if overcharged me on the value of these records.
I was looking for this other used DVD store in the Haight, but I guess they closed their doors so we ended up here just walking by. They have tons of DVD’s, though some of the pricing was odd. They had better deals with box series. They have both new and used so you have to pay attention to what you’re getting. I like the way they organized the movies in categories and also had a series and BBC section.
Don’t be fooled by the name: this is a guitar center more than anything.
Disappointing – got yelled at by someone for carrying a bag, then walked out as they don’t sell anything besides guitars.
Terrible prices and worse service.
I bought a Rick high gain bass pickup from the shop over 18 months ago. I live in Australia so the staff had to go to a bit of trouble to arrange the shipping (via ebay) and I thank them for that. When I eventually decided to put the pickup in, I found the screws didn’t fit. After taking it to a reputable guitar repairer, he found that the threads hadn”t been cut into the pickup housing so there’s no way I could fit it to my bass. I’ve emailed them about five times without any response…
10. California Guitars
Address: 121 Industrial Rd Unit 5, Belmont, CA 94002 , San Mateo County , California , United States
I brought my Ibanez in for a little work and was very impressed with Grant’s knowledge & professionalism. Right off the rip he told me that if I was sticking around that he would not only allow me to watch, but teach me how to do what needed to be done. We had an excellent conversation about our musical influences and the wonderful state of California. Grant is a personable guy and does top quality work for a solid price. I couldn’t recommend a tech higher.
Grant is incredible! Super friendly, with tons of experience and totally fair pricing for a small shop
Grant is very friendly and seems to know his guitars. Cool little place with all the tools needed for custom repairs.
11. Heriz Music & Art
Address: 210 California Dr, Burlingame, CA 94010 , San Mateo County , California , United States
Excellent service and great products!
We are pleased that the store has helped my son with his music needs always and for many years.
Great Service!! Friendly!!
Great store, great people. If it can be fixed Margarita will fix it. A good place for lessons.
Cozy place, new and used instruments, variety of sheet music, they also suggested cello lessons.
Nice instrument. Closed when sing reads open.
Fraudulent. I rented an instrument for my daughter’s school year then returned it. They continued to charge my card so I called them and they said they would stop charging and refund me. They didn’t and continued to charge me. Then 3 months later ($350 extra in EXTRA rental fees) and I call them and they say they don’t have the instrument! They want me to pay for it! Absolutely insane. Don’t EVER use them.
I came in to sell my 2013 gibson. Right when i walked into the store i was greeted by a lady who worked there who immediately said “sorry, not interested”. She didn’t even take a look at the guitar. I’m a little annoyed that the front of their store says “buy-sell-rentals” but it doesnt seem like they buy anything. Drove all the way here for nothing…
Musical instruments shop with a few sound proofed rooms in the back for lessons. They carry unknown brands and charge a premium for rental, even for elementary students.
12. San Mateo Piano
Address: 1200 S El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94402 , San Mateo County , California , United States
We bought our Kawai piano here two years ago. I am so glad we got it. We literally bought the piano over the phone. We had no knowledge in pianos, but hearing my kids play it sounds so beautiful and very high quality. Thanks to the owner’s recommendation. They were extremely nice. Prices are very reasonable. I am so glad we bought our piano here. Very good customer service
excellent experience piano shopping here. fair pricing, fast communication, very professional dealer.
I visited this wonderful piano store in San Jose. I was helped by Mr. Li. I really enjoyed my experience as he was very knowledgeable and the store was beautifully organized. I was originally looking for a Kawai upright piano, but they had a good deal on a Kawai baby grand.
Kudos !
Has pianos and lessons.
Bozkurt switched a customer’s Brand NEW piano for a used Floor Model piano and told me “DELIVER IT TO THE COSTUMER AND DONT SAY ANYTHING”… While I was working there as a Delivery Driver I noticed his tricks to get over on customer’s a save money. When ever you buy a piano MAKE A REQUEST FOR THE NEW PIANO SERIAL NUMBER. Dont get Ripped Off.
Limited selection of piano and the staff was not rushing customer out even with appointment.
We waited for half an hour outside the door even we have made an appointment. There were some other customers inside. No one came to open the door for us, even we rang the doorbell and knocked the door. We gave up at the end. I wonder what is the point to make appointments if no one is willing to serve you.
This is one of the best, if not the best woodwind and brass shop in the country!
Super helpful and kind! Highly recommended!
Great music store specializing in horns of many flavors. Larry Sousa is the repair/tune-up man, very good. Highly recommend. The best way to get any questions answered is to call them.
My dad has played trumpet since the ‘80s and has shopped at this establishment in the past. He has had multiple experiences where the staff was dismissive and rude. Most recently he wanted to sell a few of his trumpets, as he enjoys a fluid collection of buying and selling different horns to compare the artistry of the different brands. The clerk said that the police will let him know if the horns were stolen and that the store has no liability, strongly implying that she believes he stole these instruments and wants to pawn them in the store. Living in the Bay Area I would hope that people are aware that calling the police on a black man for no real reason isn’t a kind thing to do, and that it causes a lot of worry. I would hope that this review causes the staff to consider how they treat their customers in the future. She had no reason to assume that the horns were stolen. He has a thorough, years-long knowledge and experience of being a musician, marching in drum corps, he is a veteran and plays taps with the local veterans group, and her comments were absolutely uncalled for.
15. Steve Swan Guitars
Address: 1519 Old Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame, CA 94010 , San Mateo County , California , United States
Looking for an upright bass? This is the best place to go in the Bay Area. No one has the selection and stock that Steve does. He’s knowledgeable, easy to talk to and just a generally cool guy. The prices are fair, he has new and used instruments that span the price ranges and there simply isn’t this kind of opportunity to A/B instruments and really get a feel for options unless you go down to LA bass works. Just go here and feel confident in your purchase.
Plus roger is a sweet little dog.
Great!
I put my guitar on consignment with Steve about 2 years ago. He lent it out for long spans of time without my permission and eventually sold it without informing me. Then he said he needed the money for his own bills, so he couldn’t pay me. He’s obviously got problems that should keep anyone from trusting him. I’m taking him to small claims court over it.
16. Free Market Music Inc
Address: San Mateo, CA 94404 , San Mateo County , California , United States
I don’t live in CA nor did I stop at Golden Gate to buy a piano, but I would heartily recommend this place. Read on if you want to know the whole story.
I came from PA to San Mateo to play for my brother’s wedding. We made a long road trip of it and got to CA about a week before the wedding. Having been away from my piano for some time, I was looking around for someone who would let me play their piano for a few days to warm back up, before I had to perform. I walked into the store and met Paul who was a warm and inviting spirit, happy to give me some keys to practice on. While I can’t comment on doing actual business with the store, I can say that I sensed a benevolence about Paul that would lead me to consider purchasing from him. So, if you are looking for an instrument, I think it is worth your while to at least check them out.
This is the worst business I have ever seen. I bought a used piano from Paul Genzink on 2/5/17, he is so shyster, the piano he sold to me is a piece of garbage and he told me it is a very good piano. He is a big liar and cheater. He is totally not honest, reliable and responsibility. Already reported to BBB. Want to know more, go to BBB.
