Bought my Yamaha acoustic there last week, the guy working was friendly and helpful and the guitar plays great. Prices were in line with everywhere else seems like. I’ve been in guitar center and half the guitars on the wall are set up so badly they’re unplayable. Happy to support a local business over them. Will probably be back to buy an electric soon.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Small store, but they have a lot to look at and sell quality brands, new and used.
This is a pretty good little store. I bought my guitar and amp here
Rip off.go elsewhere. I use to really like bringing my daughter here but they must be under new management. Prices have gotten ridiculous!!!
7. Marshall’s Piano Shop
Address: 225 Oak Ln, Decatur, GA 30030 , Scottdale , Georgia , United States
I’ve been to other violin shops in Atlanta but I’ve always had the best customer service from Ronald Sachs. Every one has been so kind and helpful to me as an adult beginner that they’re now my go-to violin shop.
Repaired the bridge of our violin when my middle schooler, despite his orchestra teacher’s warning, played with the pegs to give them a spin and snapped off the bridge. Nice shop. Great job!
Great place to rent an instrument! I need a cello for orchestra activities and my instructor recommended RSV. The cello has a good sound and the delivery and return are very flexible. Highly recommended!
Rental and bow were used which was fine for starter Cello. The charge for replacing the used bow we were provided left a sour note to end rental. $70 extra charge to replace. Would not recommend renting from here for that reason. He got his extra $70 fee but won’t get another penny from me.
Really cool location. free, off the street parking. Easy in, easy out. Knowledge staff.
After spending over 30 minutes to get serviced. after calling to verify they had the equipment I needed. After I was told total and I didn’t have it all on my debit card. I ran to my bank to add the additional funds I was missing. To then wait an additional 10 min. To only THEN BE TOLD THEY REQUIRE A CREDIT CARD!!!! Complete waste of time !!!!!!! And Brooklyn could care less. They have zero signage of these requirement!! It’s not printed in the door or even the application!!!! Total sucks!!!!!! Will never come back!!!
To expensive. The price they ask for per month you can buy one
Thank you so much Mr. Kerry!!!! We came in with a flute that I have had since my middle school years. Now my child is in middle school and playing the flute too. Mr. Kerry went above and beyond. He is more than patient and fair. That means so much!!!
Wonderful experience
Great repair service. Even greater owner.
Mr. Hudson fixed my flutes that i haven’t played since high school! Thanks band center. I hope to take private lessons soon for myself and kids.
I like the guy but he seemed to be only interested in selling me more things than I needed.
It contains all band needs
They had an open sign lighted up and no one was there. Traveled 15+ miles oneway
Poor service
This place has a lot of stuff. If you need band books. This place has them for every instrument. Who knew this place was even there? Down side is the sign on the door for “males (to) pull up their pants”. Really? Like that effects the money they will spend in your store. I find that attitude offensive.
10. Atlanta Musicians Exchange
Address: 2619 Lawrenceville Hwy, Decatur, GA 30033 , Scottdale , Georgia , United States
Lola Nico is an amazing drum teacher! She teaches how to read music and learn by ear. Pretty cool because her method of teaching really helps to make progress and learning to play drums so much fun!
12. Mister John’s Music – Atlanta
Address: 6 Olive St, Avondale Estates, GA 30002 , Scottdale , Georgia , United States
Mister johns music is the absolute best. We look forward to going every week! Ms. Ashley is SO GOOD with the kids and equally as entertaining and engaging with the parents. We love her and highly recommend it!!
My favorite part of the week is taking our baby to this music class – they pick cool music that the parents will appreciate and always teach me something new!
Really fun, my kid loves it and more importantly, I love it too. Is that so wrong?!? Warm, inclusive and supportive. I only wish I had a music teacher like him when I was a kid.
Purchased a OWSLEY orange sunshine shirt and this is a must for all that follow the music. Shipped quickly, great cause and comfortable shirt to top it off!!
Great items from some of my favorite bands!
Shipping has always been quick, had a problem with one item and they corrected it in a timely manner.
I’ve been buying band merchandise from Merch Mountain for well over eight years and have always been impressed with the customer service and quality of the products I receive. On the rare occasion a mistake is made on my behalf or theirs, they always make it right. They’re quick to respond to emails and go above and beyond to make sure I’m happy with my purchases. Most of my purchases have been Blackberry Smoke merchandise, and I like the fact the owner is committed to selling products with the Made in the USA label.
Orderd a shirt for my wife I’m size women’s XL, shirt arrived and it is so small it would not fit on my 12 year old granddaughter, called to complain and got a recorded message to call another number, called that number and it doesn’t exist! Total rip off!! Never again!
Purchased an item apparently selected the wrong shipping via FedEx. Has been two weeks have yet to receive the item has been in the same state this entire time. Attempted to contact customer service got nowhere with Lame responses, Told at one point I would receive my package on a Monday Monday came and gone looked again states it would be here this Thursday two weeks to the day and according to their tracking it’s still in the same state going the opposite direction from where it started and back in the same area. Very sad that no one ever answers the phones and the recording actually states do not leave a recording contact us via email at which point nobody ever really responds even after several emails and proof of pictures from there tracking site!
they are shameful they don’t answer or pretend to help you. I’ve been trying to communicate with them for a paid order since October and nothing. they don’t answer you. I sent at least 7/8 emails and was completely ignored. I’ve always bought blackberry smoke on the site and I’ve never had any problems, but since everything has been managed by merch mountain it’s already the second time I’ve paid for an order and the goods haven’t arrived. but not even a refund. highly discouraged.

So glad to have stumbled across this gem! Nice little shop with friendly workers! Huge selection of sheet music for any instrument and a nice grand piano to practice your tunes before you purchase! The woman and man running the shop are so friendly and knowledgeable, kind to me and always have grate hospitality. Do stop by if you are able!
Excellent customer service. Staff will research and order selections for you that are not available in the store. Impressive variety of sheet music for piano and guitar.
Great sheet music store! The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable, and lets you try out any music on his piano, and even lets you return music if it’s still in sellable condition! He also was willing to order sheet music for my roommate, who I’m teaching to read sheet music.
Disappointing
Friendly and clean.
I try to avoid writing negative reviews of businesses because I understand that reviews can affect people’s livelihoods and I take that seriously. In this instance I feel compelled to report my experience with Opus Music due to the owner’s gross irresponsibility.
My son dropped off 18 high quality classical music scores with David to be reviewed for purchase on June 21. They were delivered in immaculate condition in a corrugated cardboard box which also had a rolled up paper shopping bag in the end to keep the books in place. I spoke with David on the phone on the day that they were dropped off and he expressed unquestionable interest in buying the books but said that they would need to be evaluated for price. I suggested that he just hold onto them and evaluate them at his convenience. I heard nothing back from him for a couple weeks so I called to see if he had a chance to look at them and left a message. After a few more days I called again and left another message asking him to check back with me and let me know what he was thinking. Over the next few weeks I continued to leave voicemails and emails pleading just to let me know what was going on. Today (August 6th) I went by the store to pick up my items after hearing absolutely nothing from David. I was greeted by a woman there and I explained that I was unhappy about David’s unwillingness to communicate with me when he is holding my property. She spoke to me about some family difficulties that they have had and apologetically suggested that she give the books back to me, to which I consented. She brought them out from the back and all of the books were sitting in the box at an angle on top of the rolled up paper bag like they had just been tossed into the box. Several of them were bent and two were creased through the whole book. I said “this is unbelievable” and showed her how he damaged the books. She apologized again and said to my dismay for a second time that David was “just trying to help me out”. Exactly how holding and damaging my property and refusing to correspond with me over a span of several weeks is “helping me out” is a mystery to me. I approached him with a simple and appropriate business transaction assuming that his interest was an opportunity to profit from the sale of some very high quality materials. I did not ask for “help” and I certainly did not ask to have my time and resources wasted because David is incapable of handling his own business. I would have been completely fine with a one-line email that said “having family difficulties right now so will not be able to evaluate your materials for…” No problem, things happen… I pick up my materials and wish him the best. I wonder how long he would have held my stuff and continued to dodge me if I had not walked in? Truly pathetic!

#truereview store looks out of place considering its location.. walk in and you will live the layout and awesome folks there to help.
Julian is awesome! My 12 year old and I took his sax across the street for minor repair then came to look around. My son also plays the guitar and Julian just jumped right in and started showing him some stuff. They had a mini jam session on the spot. Probably not quite typical but we were the only patrons at the time and my son had the best time! Going back to see Julian for some a extra lessons
Great place for new kids starting out eith their first instrument.
It had what I needed, so that was good. However, the staff seemed like they would’ve loved to be anywhere but at work.
20. Rick’s Pianos
Address: 748 Dalerose Ave, Decatur, GA 30030 , Scottdale , Georgia , United States
We bought our beautiful piano a few years ago from Rick and he has come out to the house and serviced it since. He has been nothing but kind and knowledgeable. I would recommend him to my friends in a heartbeat.
Rick has always done a great job tuning and moving pianos for me. Very nice, and reasonable rates
Rick is an honest, smart, and hard working man. Rick sold me my first upright piano. He took so much care and effort in restoring the piano, covering some pieces in felt and adjusting and tuning it after delivering it. This is a guy who is committed to his craft, something we don’t see much nowadays. Thank you, Rick! I was sent to Rick by my piano teacher, Ross Marshall.
Lots of pianos and good on repairs
Rick is not a nice guy. Thinks the sun revolves around him. Will be taking my Steinway somewhere else.
