Nate did a great job adjusting/ setting up my guitar. Super knowledgeable and great to work with. He’s my new guitar guy!
Nate is the go to guy for a custom build in SLO county. He has assembled a JazzMaster and Tele for me from custom parts. The set up and nut job make the guitars play like a factory custom shop.
Can’t recommend more highly. Nate repaired and set up my vintage yamaha in no time at all. Now it’s playing like a dream. This guy knows what he is doing!! Fair prices, great service!
2. Matt’s Music
Address: 211 S Main St, Templeton, CA 93465 , Shandon , California , United States
I dropped off a late 70’s early 80’s Yamaha acoustic guitar.. it had been placed in a chipboard case and forgotten for probably over 20+yrs..in an attic in Georgia. Matt was able to get the guitar’s action low enough to be playable and I very happy with the work that he did… Matt was very gent with answering my questions and explaining what he planned on doing to my Yamaha.. Thank you Matt.. This guitar was my Step Mom’s guitar who has since passed, it means a lot to me to be able to keep the guitar in the family and it’s usable.. God bless.

Great place with great service! Generally care and know about music here!
🙂
Great store… A home to musicians, and aspiring artists! Matt is knowledgeable and friendly… Everything you need to be a part of the central coast music scene!
Nice little place. Have gone in a few times for reeds and picks. Staff is really nice and helpful.
I will say that they advertise that they have music teachers who offer lessons there. And say to call for availability… don’t waste your time. I called six times (in a month) to inquire about violin lessons and left messages each time, never heard back. Finally go in, and they say they don’t offer lessons for her age, not a big deal, it just was an irritant to not have messages returned.
3. Musicians Unlimited
Address: 7425 El Camino Real, Atascadero, CA 93422 , Shandon , California , United States
I had a small guitar repair. I’d tried to fix it myself many times. I took it over to Musicians Unlimited and Jerry fixed it in about 20 minutes. Also, while he was fixing it, I took a look around at his prices, and they were extremely reasonable.
Bought the green mountain smoker great price and has plenty of stock
Yeesh, bad vibes from the moment you go in. A wall of boxes and amps is nearly barricading off the entrance and once you get past that death trap, the person behind the counter seems quite disappointed to see you. Makes me wonder if everything that you have to get past just to successfully make a purchase is intentional, even if perhaps subconsciously on the owner’s part. Clearly does not want to be bothered with regular business. Not surprised to see the other reviews saying the same. This store has multiple obvious issues. Will definitely not be going back.
This place is horrible. The guy/owner is rude as hell, seems annoyed to have anyone in there, if you don’t like customer service maybe you should close down. Seriously never come to this place
Great place to check out sweet guitars, amps, etc. Eddie’s a real cool guy.
Eddie is the best and was helpful about guitars.
Just a cool and friendly music store!
Selection was minimal, especially for drum gear.
I get it, it’s tourist season. I genuinely wanted to locally shop a 1/2 size guitar. I saw how busy the store was. I left my name and number. Someone said I was all set to receive a call. 2 weeks, no call.
Personal attention is the norm.
Good people!
6. Don’s String Shop
Address: 1030 Los Osos Valley Rd, San Luis Obispo, CA 93402 , Shandon , California , United States
Best luthier on the central coast! I take my Martins there for their yearly check up.
Open Saturdays – Friendly and informative! Check them out!
This store is run by Don Young and his wife. Don Young is a co-founder of National Resophonic in San Luis Obispo. Now he has opened this very cool little stringed instrument shop featuring guitars, mandolins, banjos and more. Some are quirky old instruments and some are new, but the instruments have real character. Don is also ready to take repair work.
I stopped in for some strings but stayed a while and played a few instuments. Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable! I’m excited to visit again.
It’s okay when it’s actually open
Wish it was open more days than one, that’s ridiculous. Wish the woman up front wasn’t passive aggressive. There isn’t passion or inspiration in that place anymore. I’d say let the legacy move on and shut it down. I’m guessing a family member took over after he passed away. But the way its ran is like a burden more than a legacy. Sorry to say
This place is NEVER NEVER NEVER OPEN SO DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME GOING THERE. PITIFUL WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS
7. Ron’s Music Studio
Address: 2616 Adobe Rd, Morro Bay, CA 93442 , Shandon , California , United States
Ron worked on our daughter’s flute. When she played it she remarked that it had never sounded so good! Ron did a terrific job. His prices are reasonable and he does his best for turn aroud.
8. Grand Central Music & Conservatory
Address: 3195 McMillan Ave # E, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 , Shandon , California , United States
So good for rentals and great selection of guitars and very knowledgable staff.
Nice folks
Cool small-town vibe. Dan is a really cool guy, knows what’s he’s talking about. They’ve got some really interesting stock in too, even a couple banjoes and mandolins.
Helpful and Knowledgeable. They don’t try to sell me on anything extra other than what I need or ask for specifically.
Great
Ots out of the way almost to far out
Dan Ernst Owner of grand central music is a Scum Bag with a Capital S.
Bought a roland jx10 from him in feb 2013 said he had it professionally cleaned cause one of the keys did not respond.( shoulda took that as a sighn right there that this would go south.)

So rapair man did two weeks go by no response.

Do not support.
Do not trust.
Eventually we will cross paths Dan.
Thats not a threat.
Thats a promise.
I ordered the bass a year ago in this shop! But so far, they can not send me a bass and do not return the money! What are the problems? I do not know! And nothing intelligible do not meet!
