Such a gem here in Sherman Oaks! This is the place to go for music and supplies and the straight dope on musical instruments. You can take lessons, get repairs done and always feel like you are being taken care of by knowledgeable people –because you are! Prices are reasonable and the people are nice. What more could you ask for?
Always friendly and knowledgeable. One of the hew places I look forward to shopping.
Tried out a couple sax mouthpieces and ended up buying one
A true LA institution. You can easily lose yourself in here if you’re a musician who likes thumbing through random pieces of sheet music. It’s an unpredictable selection of everything from vintage choral parts to new method books for beginners. Not to mention a nostalgic variety of accessories (who here still buys metronomes and manuscript paper? ME). Metered street parking is dicey.
Very old school. Love it.

Ozzy is incredible! He is very knowledgeable about guitars, the history behind how they are made and what is best suited for specific styles of music and your needs. I appreciated his patience with me he is extremely easy to talk to and understood exactly what I was looking for and helped me find exactly what was right for me. Coming back for my guitar needs
Best ever
Friendly staff. Had what I was looking for.
I’ve found everything here from ukuleles to sheet music to recording equipment for my computer. Very helpful staff, better than you’d expect from the big guys.
Exelente
I been using guitar center for a long time, mostly Hollywood location, valley location promises services they cannot deliver in time other than that they’re Ok
Unbelievable, two hours in line to buy strings. There is a much more efficient way to do this, but the company clearly doesn’t care they lose money when people leave the line because they couldn’t wait all afternoon. You can pick up in store in 3-5 days, nothing day of. Go to Amazon or Sam Ash save yourself a sunburn and heat stroke.
They treated me like a terrorist .
Gave me the wrong order that overcharged me food was terrible You’ll never go there for a Burger ever again

Look at this…. 1967 Gibson ES-330.. bought it here, learned the story about ‘er…totally awesome…. Tom was great and very helpful, and gave us an incredible offer – one we couldn’t refuse! Thanks, fellas! The Huny Buny and me will be back for more!
Although the owner was very busy on the phone, he was helpful with letting me try out guitars and setting up an amp.
On top of that, they have an incredible selection of guitars and probably the most unique amp selection I’ve ever seen in a shop.
Definitely worth checking out!
Great time checking out and buying my first guitar.
Fantastic service, Bitchin guitars! One of the best experiences at any guitar store in the area.

Fantastic service, Bitchin guitars! One of the best experiences at any guitar store in the area.
First time tuning the guitar, one tuner was completely worn out and others close to worn out. None of which mentioned in the listing. The guitar clearly was not inspected or setup in any professional manner. Replacing 80’s grovers and having the guitar setup by a pro cost 178. Seller offered $100 as well as being very condescending, ignoring the misleading advert and that the original parts were not all 100% functional. Expecting to play your guitar out of the box? Shop elsewhere folks.
They lied about the year abMartin guitar was made. The year difference was worth $1500 according to price guides. When I pointed it out to the salesman he refused to speak to me.
CAVEAT EMPTOR. Initially, our visit to Imperial was very pleasant… the owner even offered us drinks …. Then my friend traded his guitar AND a sizable sum of cash for a vintage acoustic that Tommy, the owner, had for sale. The following day, at a guitar show, my friend ran into the previous owner of that guitar who proceeded to tell my friend all that was wrong with the instrument when he traded it to Tommy and that Tommy clearly knew of but failed to disclose it. There were holes cut in the top that Tommy had conveniently filled and painted over so no one could tell. At the time of purchase, my friend specifically asked if there were any issues or anything he should know. Tommy didn’t disclose this repair info. The guitar’s value was significantly less because of these modifications, and my friend lost close to $2k when all was said and done. Trust is important in the vintage guitar business and Imperial is not to be trusted.
RESPONSE TO REPLY:
Tommy you’re neglecting the fact that you knew additional pick up holes were drilled, then patched up and painted, but never disclosed it. How you take care of your internal bookkeeping to justify your business is “your business”, but based on the trust I have in the customer relation side of your business, I would say your bookkeeping is suspect to.

Go there first for a vintage guitar Dave the owner is first class all the way and Seth the Fret Dr. Is the finest in his field. Cruz in Sales knows his way around a guitar. You wont leave disappointed!!!!
I only walked in from off the street after working late on a weekend afternoon all dirty and sweaty at a construction project. The place obviously looked very boutique and upscale. I was unsure who was working or who was just there hanging out. But the folks were all very unpretentious and super cool. I window shopped some orig. Lesters and the prices were not at all bad. I ended up buying a NOS RCA tube that really truly was NOS and the price was nice! Only double what a premium JJ from CED might cost! Very cool shop. Wish I lived nearby!
Dave not here
Great little spot. I’d really like to mention and praise their Guitar tech Seth. He’s a super cool and knowledgeable dude. Does very precise and good work and at reasonable rates as well. Customer service at the front of the store was great too. Will definitely be back for any future repairs or set ups for my instruments!
I kinda like this store. It’s laid out very nicely. They have a good selection of fender custom shop guitars
Got a 15 dollar Uber to this place and it was closed even though google said it was open. Would be nice if you updated your hours
Had them ‘fix’ an amp and now it’s incredibly noisy. Never had a tube amp that made this much noise. Will not go back.

Great selection, excellent prices and very friendly and conversational staff.
Super cool space with chill staff and a variety of records, CDs, and tapes
Nice store. Good products. Rare stuff. But they could use a little more inventory…common stuff.
Nice selection on records
Not much of a Latin selection overall pretty good place
Tried to sell a few records i had in my collection i wanted to sell. They weren’t in terrible condition and had some decent stuff. Didnt expect much mabye a few dollars. But just scoffed and gave rude remarks. Told me there’s a dumpster out back and to be carefull breathing around the vinyls cause of mold. (One record with water damage). Didn’t feel good leaving. Would have been fine without the remarks but didnt leave a good taste in my mouth. Dont suggest, one star. (Keep in mind i had very good condition Eric Claptop, George Harrison and a Tommy vinyl that he didnt even look at)
Check the condition of your records carefully before buying!! I purchased a hard to find classical album for $30 and it has subtle scratches that are hard to see but so deep as to ruin the listening. This is partly my fault, but I buy all over the world and this is the first time I’ve had such a high price for a record in terrible condition. My guess is that they vet the condition of their rock records more so than their classical.
very unfriendly ,

Phone number is disconnected. I think this place closed down. It would be nice to take this studio off the Google listing so no one don’t waste their time coming over here.

Both my kids love going to Piano Play. I hear no complaints from them and all I get is smiles. Their having fun and learning.
Love love love this place! I love it, and my 2 year old loves it. I literally cried the first class as Ms. Sharon is so amazing and truly understands children. She created a wonderfull unique program, and I just know my daughter is going to continue to excel at piano!

I came to the Suzuki school after having two violin teachers who weren’t helping me. Now I’m thirteen after just four years at Suzuki I fixed some problems I was having and now I’m playing advanced repertoire. Lessons are fun and engaging and I enjoy preparing for them. If you want to master an instrument, then I recommend this Suzuki school!
Amazing school and teachers! Highly recommend this academy for your child. Definitely professional and family friendly! You’ll enjoy the results!!
I cannot say enough good things about Suzuki Academy or about its founder and my children’s piano teacher, Sensei Kevin. When I started looking for a piano teacher for my children, I knew that the most important thing would be to find someone who would inspire and spark their love of music and the instrument. Kevin has more than delivered on that goal. Every lesson is full positivity as he reinforces their blossoming skills and good habits while guiding them through fixing mistakes without judgment. He elicits joy and a love of classical music in them with every lesson. His care and understanding of children and how to motivate them is obvious.
Maybe most notable, though, is the approach the school takes to developing performance skills. By ensuring the children are prepared not just with regards to playing their piece but also with regards to how to enter and exit the stage and the piano and how to handle the inevitability of making a small mistake, Sensei Kevin and the school help reduce the stress of performing. They’ve created a supportive and inclusive environment where even my formerly-shy child has few reservations or butterflies as she gets up to perform complex classical pieces in front of a packed room.
Whether you’re looking for a professional-level classical music education or to teach yourself or your children to gain comfort with an instrument while learning an appreciation of music overall, the school is set up with teachers to help guide your journey.
We couldn’t be happier.
Pretty amazing
As a concerned parent, I feel compelled to share my incredibly disappointing experience with the Suzuki Music Academy. I want to caution other parents against enrolling their kids in this program due to the numerous issues I’ve encountered.
The first major red flag is their excessively strict cancellation policy. It’s abundantly clear that this policy is intentionally convoluted and designed to make cancelling lessons a nightmare. Requiring a 30-day written notice before the 13th of every month is an unnecessary hurdle that only serves to inconvenience parents. It’s almost as if they want to trap you into continuing lessons against your will.
But the headache doesn’t end there. The academy seems to have perfected the art of nickel-and-diming parents. On top of the already steep monthly rates, they tack on a laundry list of fees that can catch you off guard. The $150 registration fee, an annual fee of $100, and a $25 recital fee are simply unjustifiable extras that seem to exist solely to pad the academy’s profits. It’s disheartening to think that they’re prioritizing their financial gain over the education of our children.
Organization is evidently not their strong suit either. Booking sessions with the academy is an exercise in frustration. They use the excuse of “high demand” for their teachers, but the reality seems to be an utter lack of scheduling competency. If their teachers are truly in such high demand, one would expect them to be able to fill canceled slots quickly. Instead, parents are left bewildered by their inability to manage their own timetables.
All in all, my experience with Suzuki Music Academy has been a lesson in disappointment and regret. It’s abundantly clear that they prioritize their own profits over the convenience and satisfaction of their students and parents. The complex cancellation policy, exorbitant fees, and lack of organization all contribute to a deeply unsatisfactory experience. As a parent who wishes the best for their child’s musical education, I implore you to consider other options before subjecting yourself to the frustrations and financial burdens imposed by this academy. Your child deserves better.

Very helpful staff. Like their rent to open options.
Wonderful pianos and excellent piano teachers. Great classes for kids!
Piano lessons are great. My daughter has been attending lessons for over two years since she was 5 and has really developed quite a repertoire.
She loves the class and loves her teacher who keeps the kids very engaged throughout the hour. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
We visited this store as we were looking to buy a piano. The showroom was beautiful. Large variety of pianos to choose from. The staff was friendly and helpful. The process to actually buy a piano was simple and pretty fast. Since I knew what I was looking for it only took us about 30 minutes to complete the process.
The reason why I won’t give 5 stars is because the delivery process is a big mess! They charged us 270 dollars for the delivery and promised a delivery date and time. However when the time came the piano never arrived. I called the store and they forgot to set up the delivery. So they gave me a new date and time. It has been more than 24 hours and I am still waiting for the delivery. The second delivery appointment is also late!
I find that punctuality and accuracy is an important part of the sale and the experience a store can provide. This very long delay in the delivery has made this experience a rather stressful one. Not to mention expensive, given that we are paying 270 dollars for this service. If this wasn’t such an expensive and specific purchase I would definitely return it.
So if you ever find yourself buying a piano from this store, confirm that they have set up the delivery before you leave the store!
UPDATE: I gave one extra star after I received a call from the manager for an apology for the delay in delivery. I thought that was a nice touch on their part.
Place is very organized and professional.Staff professional and very courteous.Prices are not cheap over online prices
Had a lovely experience here went out to their Sherman Oaks location to check out a piano they had in stock. Everyone was very helpful and they had a lovely selection of New & Used Pianos. Just a hint if you find something you like, buy it because their stock is constantly moving!
I would never again deal with this company!! Customer service was terrible. Talking with the salespeople was akin to dealing with the stereotype of a used car salesman. All-in-all a most unpleasant experience!
I have left several messages and they do not return phone calls. Their customer service skills leave a lot to be desired. It seems that once you make your purchase….they have no need for you any longer. DEFINATELY will not be going back here !
