This is seriously a time saver , as a resident of silver lakes its more convenient to shop here then drive to the town, If possible. Everyone is nice and experienced and to be honest, they make hardware fun. I never thought I would say that.
Great Family Owned Buisness! It’s Amazing, The Variety Christina & Harry, Pack into such a small space!!!
It’s always good to know that when you need that one item in a rush, you don’t have to drive into Barstow or Victorville and lose over an hour. Items cost a little more, but the cost balances out when you look at the fuel cost just to drive into Barstow and Victorville.
Love to see a bigger shop for a bigger selection.
Very warm amd friendly, you feel like family by the staff
A little mom-and-pop hardware store but the people are friendly and helpful.yes you’re going to spend a little bit more but if you’re saving the 30-minute trip into town it’s well worth the price.
Have stopped in several times ..Not greeted and have never had what I was looking for ..Today looking for a Trash Can ..Nope None .And employee was making a key and would not answer till he was done making the key ..Oh my where has Customer Service Gone
Convenient but they are not helpul at all over the phone. Whenever I call to ask if the have a specific item, they tell me to just come down. Not well informed about their own products and supply.
2. Helendale CSD Thrift Store
Address: 26540 Vista Rd APT A, Helendale, CA 92342 , Silver Lakes , California , United States
The staff is so very helpful and friendly. I always find wonderful treasures there. The clothing and accessories are always like new. Its my absolute favorite place to visit.
Clean and helpful
Great bargains
Tidy, good selection, clean products!
Everything so organized great job prices are reasonable. ✨
Prices are better since new management took over, but old management treated the store as if it were a boutique with crazy expensive prices. Noticed that since new management took over all the really nice and/or vintage items have disappeared…hmmmmm? Wonder where these items have gone? Are they being sold elsewhere? Since this Thrift stores stock is solely provided by donations and their backroom is loaded to the gills, I would think that they would slash prices to be able to move inventory. I am not the only one who has noticed this and am wondering?
Prices are super high. They price a lot of things above eBay prices. I go for their dvd day and cloth bag day. Other than that I won’t purchase other stuff. The Manager Kelly is a rude man. All of the other staff is super sweet. I have been going there for the last 10 years and they can’t keep an employee long it’s always a new employee. I’m thinking it is because of him. We have donated hundreds worth if not up to the thousands by now of furniture, electronics and misc items throughout the years and have done so to support what they do with the funds they make however, I don’t need to deal with a snooty old man that thinks he is managing a Coach store.
Too expensive!!! It’s a thrift store not a department store people!!! Used, donated items priced as new items!?!?? SMH. Disappointed.
Only gave 2 stars due to the stores cleaness And organization.
Crappy shop, selection was horrible
3. Silver Lakes Nail & Spa
Address: 26719 Vista Rd, Helendale, CA 92342 , Silver Lakes , California , United States
My first pedicure was amazing, the service was great.
Omg I so love them great people and they are not mean and get the job done totally 5 stars
My 1st time visiting to get my nails done. They came recommended by a close friend and I was very satisfied with how my nails turned out.
Very courteous and friendly couple.
I have now been getting my nails done here over a year now. Charlie and Lin work very hard to meet my needs and they do an AMAZING job on my nails every time
Very friendly ppl
Great service
It’s a quite place nail technician, was very nice
They are friendly yes, my daughter got dip done and they all came off.
My nails are big and bulky, disproportioned . Pedi was great though. Unlikely to get nails done there again. They are nice people though. Now I have to go pay again to get nails fixed somewhere else.
4. Old Style Guitar Shop
Address: 510 A, 510 N Hoover St, Los Angeles, CA 90004 , Silver Lakes , California , United States
I used to live in the neighborhood and I always enjoyed swinging by and seeing the instruments they have here. Came through on a whim today and ended up leaving with one of their signature rubber-bridge builds. Thomas and Reuben are great- they talked me through a few different models, and they were patient while I took time to play them. Excited to record with my new OS guitar, and excited for future trips to the shop.
The shop did a full setup on a partscaster Jazzmaster I brought in that sounded beautiful but had a few wicked little fret buzzing areas and insanely high action. When I brought it back into the shop a week or so later because of some intermittent soft clicking in the signal that appeared post-setup, the shop tech took an entire half day narrowing it down and silencing the damn click. 🙂 I really appreciated that quick turnaround, because I had a little tiny show to play coming up, and they reassured me that all would be well (I was troubleshooting my cable, pedals, etc for days before bringing it back in). Now the guitar sounds just as beautiful as always, but I can play all the notes without buzzing and the intermittent clicking is gone and folks, i recommend bringing in your guitar 🙂
Wish I could give them 6 stars. My go-to for setups and I recently purchased a rubber-bridge guitar for a friend that he LOVES. Also Tracy is so friendly and helpful!! Old Style for life ❤️
Changed this review because I know Old Style is a small indie shop trying to get by …
Seems like a cool shop with cool folks who were having a bad day. They got annoyed at me playing for less than 30 minutes on a shop-built guitar … You’d think they want to sell those.
Tourists: This is probably a good shop for repairs, but not playing and trying instruments. I like a guitar store that will just let you play and try for a long while, especially if you’re a courteous player who knows how to handle guitars.
Locals: hit this place up for repairs, rare gems, and Fender-style custom builds!
Nice and quaint, staff knowledgeable
Called inquiring about what Electric 6 string fenders they have in stock, and all he said was ‘it’s best you just come into the shop’. Seemed real snobby. I’m a very impulsive buyer and a serious player. I said I’m likely chasing s strat. I really want an aged white with a 70s headstock and a rosewood fretboard. And I’ve got 2k burning in my pocket. I’m also interested in a thinline tele. But he didn’t seem to really care what I was after or to give me any friendly encouragement to check out what he has, just wanted me off the phone and presumed I didn’t know what I was talking about.
did a bad job twice on set ups. open string buzzing both times, why i went back the second time i have no idea. the intonation lasted about a month. these were both on american made gibsons.
the last one i got they stuffed card stock under the bridge saddles and left it hanging out. they did not ask me before charging me if it was ok to this hack DIY style repair yet charged me full price.
they also sold me what they said were flat wound strings but when i got them out of the package they were regular round wound.
AND on top of being amateurs, they are argumentative and arrogant. perhaps to cover up that they only sort of know what they doing?
And they lost a customer before I even thought of visiting with the owner’s “adult day care” response to a review. Consider a different career.
5. Bellflower Music Center
Address: 17125 Bellflower Blvd, Bellflower, CA 90706 , Silver Lakes , California , United States
Cuz it’s where I get my supplies it’s also where people can learn how to play
Small place packed with a lot of instruments. For school, you don’t go to places like Guitar Center…but you come to places like this.
They have a lot of instruments, store is too small but they gave me nice customer service
Very helpful people
Way to Expensive
THIS PLACE IS WRONG I DROVE OVER 50 MILES TO PURCHASE A LESLIE SPEAKER FROM THEM,BUT THEY HAD IT PUT UP SOMEWHERE IN THEIR CLASS ROOM, WHERE YOU CAN’T GET TO IT! THEN THEY SAID THAT THE LESLIE I WANTED TO BUY, COMES WITH A HAMMOND ORGAN BUT THEIR ADVERTISING ON THEIR WEBSITE DIDN’T SAY THAT!!! I’M SO HURT WITH THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT I’LL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN!!!
They are nice until there is something wrong .
My situation is even too long to write I’m very disappointed with their lack of customer service after being a customer for 1 1/2 years.
They said I needed a piston replaced after their rude service we decided to take our business else where. The other music store said the instrument was dirty and cleaned the oil and told us the piston was not even damaged as Bellflower said.BEWARE NORTHPARK ACADEMY OF THE ARTS ..PARENTS GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
6. Morey’s Music Store Inc
Address: 4834 Woodruff Ave #576, Lakewood, CA 90713 , Silver Lakes , California , United States
Great place to shop. What is the price range to fix a dent on a bass trombone bell ?
On this visit like all my visits, the staff was awesome and willing to help. Always well knowledge and eager to help.
Always courteous staff and professional service.
Great place. If you love Music this is your place.
Very nice selection of wind, string, and percussion. All of your music student’s needs are there.
Good service.
Knowledgeable.
I will never shop there again. This morning 12/26/18, I went to the store hoping to buy a new cello case. I entered the store and walked to the back of the store to look around. Not one worker even tried to assist me. After looking at the cello cases, I walked toward the front of the store to look at different violin/cello method books because I play and teach both instruments. During that time, a few customers walked in and the workers quickly greeted and assisted them. This is about the third time this has happened to me. I will never shop there or refer any of my students to shop there. I will just have to purchase their supplies elsewhere and have my students purchase the products from me. I will also go online and purchase my cello case elsewhere. That’s too bad because they really do ha e nice, quality products.
I don’t know what to say about this place but it’s been one of the worst places I’ve ever been to and the prices are very high plus they treat you very rude
More’s music store doesn’t sell saxophone mutes and they probably don’t even know what a saxophone mute is so they should probably search up saxophone mute on the internet (bad service).
7. Styles Music
Address: 777 E Foothill Blvd, Pomona, CA 91767 , Silver Lakes , California , United States
Place is great. The guys there know their stuff. Everytime I need help with my guitar or violin they always have a solution. Very impressed!
Support your local small business music stores. Eff Guitar Center! This place is where it’s at
Took my guitar to get adjusted and have new strings added. Get my guitar back with a string that was put on in such a way that i cant even use the string -.- string isnt even able to make anyguitar sound-___- as shown on picture ,third string was put in with no care );
Friendly, good selection and a great staff. They are cheaper than Guitar Denter, and far more knowledgeable & helpful.
both guys are great people,I have bought guitars, strings, accessories and also they have worked on my guitars.A-1 service all the time .I would recommend them
Really unprofessional to me as there customer. Sold me a used amp that was broken.
Check your used gear before you sell it!
Told me they would fix it, free of charge and possibly throw in some gas money! The amp would be done in about 4 days. Awesome!
3 weeks later! Excuse after excuse, they than surprised me with 60$ Charge when i went to go pickup the amp. Not ok!
If the amp was completed in original time frame, i wouldnt have cared about the 60$ charge.
Styles music you still have the ability to correct this, i hope you reach out to me.
Bought a vintage guitar from this store that ended up having buzzing issues. Not thinking much of it I had a few techs look at it, all three techs stated and even showed me how bad the neck was warped, a long term issue from improper care. In hopes of returning a bit after their return policy since the issue had been there to begin with, they held their return policy ground, said their guitar tech looked at it with no problems, and even had the audacity to tell me that I not only needed a second opinion, but that the situation was nothing but buyer’s remorse! As if I don’t buy and sell guitars for a living. Seeing another review here about bad tech experiences here..I would normally say this tech needs to stick to basic restrings only, but apparently can’t even do that either. I wrote a very understanding and forgiving email about the issue and even offered an exchange for a different vintage guitar they had, trying my best to give this place a second chance..and not only outright refused me but added insult to injury claiming the neck warp was nonexistent. Thankfully I was able to sell the pickups for more than half what I paid, and plan on using the body for a custom project. One of the worst customer experiences I’ve ever had the pleasure dealing with. Completely insulting. I, nor anyone I know will buy from this store again.
The guitar tech here is totally incompetent. I have a tech that does amazing setups elsewhere but he has been away due to medical leave. I had brought in an instrument to be fret leveled and the guy here was using the fret rocker completely wrong with the strings on. He told me he couldn’t do anything and that I should wait for my miracle guitar tech. I’m glad I did not do business with these jokes.

Had a lot of fun
Was a Sunday night so it wasn’t crowded. Listen to some good music, play a little pool and had some good drinks. Was surprised the bathrooms were much more cleaner than I expected. In fact it was really nice.
Clean quite nice
Had an awesome time! Awesome friendly people!
Great for a cold beer in the desert. Have their famous “Desert Martini” Cold Glass of Beer with an Olive.
They have Karaoke on Friday Nights (Hosted By Dennis & Marlys Of Plumb Krazy Karaoke) & on Saturday Nights, Kevin Runs the place!
But I Go There for my Amber Bock Fix, as They Have my Favorite Brew, “AMBER BOCK” ON TAP!!!
My dad needed that good time!!! Got home …he went straight to bed!!! He’s out for the count…oh yeah.

Great little place for your guitar needs and instruments. They also sell albums and tapes ,but there prices for album are very expensive, this is Lincoln heights, not Hollywood or Fairfax
Good variety of vintage instruments, worth a visit for any musician. They have a large record selection too.
