The Stevenson Hall is absolutely beautiful and such an amazing place to stay.
The Alaska Travel Industry Association recently hosted a large convention in Sitka and our team needed a place to stay. We had the pleasure of being able to rent all 10 rooms at Stevenson Hall for 7 nights. It felt like a home away from home. The space was perfect for our team, we were able to have our own rooms but also had plenty of space to meet up as a team. The rooms were beautiful, clean, quiet and very comfortable. Not to mention the views from the bedroom windows were breathtaking! There are shared laundry facilities and two kitchen areas. It was such a perfect balance. If you find yourself needing a place to stay for a group in Sitka, I cannot recommend this place enough.
2. Wintersong Soap Co
Address: 202 Lincoln St, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
Fabulous shop! I have bought my Christmas gifts here for several years. Very well stocked and every year there are more goodies. Terrific!
I received my package yay!! Really excited for what I got and due to an error in my address my package was sent back. I contact the company and they immediately sent me another package and with that a gift for the inconvenience I love it thank you Mrs Ruth you were very helpful
A lot of great merchandise. Staff very friendly and helpful.
3. Stereo North Furniture & Appliance
Address: 342 Lincoln St, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
Fantastic help and kind to us. Helped me pick out my stereo equipment for my truck and offered to box it up for us. Would recommend to everyone looking to get furniture, other appliances, and car stereo equipment
Best place to go for the stuff you want people love Shirley and Tuffy. Thank you and love you guy’s.
Good selection and prices, the staff was extremely helpful.
Check it out
Happy to see that they still sell DVD movies
Bought a speaker here and tried to return it the next day after having a change of mind. The older lady at the front desk yelled at me and demeaned me and of course did not consider taking the speaker back even though it was brand new in the packaging. I was genuinely frightened and resolved to never set foot back there again. Horrible place.
I’m not one for leaving bad reviews, but here we go. I purchased a 65″ TV on sale for $750 from stereo north without opening it and checking it. From there, I put it on a 58′ boat, on which it was wrapped and put in a safe place. We had a flat calm ride home, brought it into my house, and opened it to find it incredibly broken.
On my life, this TV was handled incredibly gently and with care. I called Stereo North expecting them to have at least an ounce of customer service following a nearly $1000 purchase, and was immediately met with hostility and rudeness. After being told this had NEVER happened to them before, they continued on to tell me about several different times people had claimed to recieve broken TV’s, all of which were apparently found to be “lies”.
I contacted Samsung to request help, and they responded that the TV should still be under the companies return policy, and I should be able to return it to Stereo North and get a replacement. I contacted the store, and they essentially called me a liar and told me that they were too busy and proceeded to hang up on me twice.
My mind is absolutely blown at the rudeness and lack of pride these owners have for their company and for their products. This TV was very clearly dropped or hit pretty severly at some point, and it was ABSOLUTELY not hit or dropped while in my care.
It is a huge shame that this was my first experience with this this company. I much prefer supporting local businesses, and had seen many things in the store I would have been interested in purchasing. But following this experience, I will personally never set foot in this store again.
Really awful customer service and slimy people. Sold me the floor model without telling me. Nasty thought to think everyone And their mother has layed on the bed they sold me. Would not recommend. He will lie to you and his mother will yell at you.
4. Old Harbor Books
Address: 201 Lincoln St, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
Loved it. Charming. Helpful, friendly staff. Enjoyed the Alaska fiction section! Also unique gifts – candles, journals, pins, tshirts, etc.
I absolutely adored this place, new books, old books. Lovely atmosphere. And a coffee shop connected!
This is one of the best bookstore experiences I have ever had. Their collection of books is absolutely wonderful. Truly some of the most beautiful book designs I have ever seen, as well as an awesome selection of Alaskan/Indigenous/BIPOC authors in what felt like every section. Plus a gorgeous printing press in the middle of the room, a quaint cafe in the back with great coffee and alt milks, and the most adorable Corgi named Peach just hanging out. Every bookstore should have a dog like Peach. If you’re in Sitka, don’t you dare miss out on stopping here.
There to pickup next year calendars
Nice place
Nice store, great selection

Such kind people working here! They helped me find something special for my grandson. Large variety of gifts-great selection!!
My wife just lived this shop. She rarely buys anything, but she definitely purchased several great items. Tracy was a fantastic host and mire friendly than the staff at our hotel. Thank you Tracy for Making A Difference! You are the Best!
Fantastic gift shop! And you can get the old time photos done while you are there! One stop shopping!! Owner is a great gal too!
9. White Elephant
Address: 323 Seward St, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
The amount of money they donate to the community amazes me. Keep up the good work.
Nice place as a nonprofit thrift store you can find just about anything!
One of my favorite stores in Sitka. Great deals and great finds. Love it!
I was pleased to see that this store donates to a variety of organizations. The variety is somewhat limited but I enjoyed shopping there with my friend who bought a lot of stuff. I am giving it 4 stars because the lady working the front was rude and condescending about masks. I simply forgot to put on my mask but I was treated like a child and an idiot and if not for my friend, I would have left and given a very poor review.
Some incredible stuff gets donated here. Kudos to the community for just giving away valuable items. This is the only place in town that still has you wear a mask and it IS enforced. Come prepared or they will loan you a mask.
Quite a few treasures here and that particular something you have been looking for at a resale price. Don’t wait. They close early.
10. The Salvation Army Thrift Store Sitka
Address: 400 Lake St, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
Nice souvenir shop with Russian flavor. My son bought a set of nested matryoshka dolls. They were unusual – white background with blue drawings. Friendly service, good selection, nice memories.
Left town and really wanted a hat and these guys help get it shipped to me. You don’t get that kind of service everyday. Over the top awesomeness….
Fun with lots of variety
Best place for gifts, momentos
Bazaar, not so much, but the town, Russian Orthodox church, etc. we’re great!
Don’t buy the huckleberry honey in the bear. It is so old we couldn’t get it to flow. Bought it as souveniers! Can’t give it out.
15. Sitka Performing Arts Center
Address: 1000 Lake St, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
I cannot praise this company nearly enough! We found this shop while waiting for a tour, my son badly wanted a knife and anxiety must have made helping him very trying.
Not only did they spend over 30 minutes helping him select the best one for his needs, they very cheerfully geeked out with him over the minutiae of their stock. The owners demonstrated quite a lot of tact when they realized that he related better to one salesperson, and quietly stepped aside while she helped him. All of this *before* they could be confident of a sale!
I was also impressed with the quality of their stock quite aside from the gorgeous knives. Ordinarily I’m leery of larger purchases in tourist areas, given past experiences, but again the quality of their merchandise coupled with their patience, low key sales approach and obvious enthusiasm for their products I was reassured.
I really can’t rate them highly enough! 10 out of 10 stars, would not hesitate to do business with them again!
My husband LOVED his ulu knife I purchased him while on a cruise in AK. I opted to have my purchased shipped home and it beat me home. Everyone was extremely courteous and helpful!
17. WildFlour Cafe & Bakery
Address: 327 Seward St #2, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
This cafe is amazing coffee and food are delicious. Staff was very friendly. Would absolutely go back.
The food was good. I enjoyed the southwest chicken wrap. It’s a little pricy and pretty small for what you are spending. Restaurant, in general, was a nice, friendly place.
If ever you’ve wanted to come into a place trying hard to be a Seattle hipster Cafe, this is it. The cookies are good, and the coffee is good. But the vibe is…not cool. Also the music sucked. Also, who locks the guest wifi?!?
Pretty decent coffee and treats.
This place thinks it’s popularity gives it permission to fail at customer service. A simple request to have a breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs (which is on the menu) instead of a fried egg, and sourdough (also on the menu) instead of the other bread options is asking too much. I guess attempting to make healthier choices is not welcomed here.
crowded, stiff workers, no sign for business! next to subway. don’t bother.
find someplace else!
18. McDonald’s
Address: 913 Halibut Point Rd, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
Guys, let’s be honest… it’s McDonald’s. But the Denali Mac, buttermilk chicken tenders, and view of the harbor are absolutely stellar. Also they sell Tillamook ice cream, so that’s pretty much a win. But don’t go on a cruise to Sitka to eat at their McDonald’s, there are better ways to waste your life.
Edit – Also, Nattie gives great customer service. Our entire group loved her!
Quick place to grab a bite to eat
Good
It’s a McDonald’s, a little more expensive than in the lower 48, but they also have the Denali Mac, which is just a larger Big Mac.
It would be nice if they were in a bigger building and closer to town
Just not a fan
This is the absolute WORST McDonald’s I have ever experienced. I stopped through for breakfast, the upcharged for orange juice with a meal. When I asked about it they said meals only include coffee. So apparently children are unwelcome. They upcharged to swap from bacon to sausage and then delivered a completely wrong sandwich. Instead of a sausage egg and cheese biscuit (that I paid extra for) they delivered a ham egg and cheese mcmuffin. Because they are the only fast food place on the island, they get away with whatever they want and quality/service is completely disregarded.
Oil is not changed at all
19. Highliner Coffee
Address: 327 Seward St, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
We came in and got mochas and bacon egg & cheese croissants. The process was a little slow and they didn’t have any condiments. The pictures on the wall were fun and staff was friendly.
Good coffee and good people here.
Bad service, bad coffee
Coffee was undrinkable. Better off going without.
I visited this cafe 4 times during my stay in Sitka in March, and all drinks – latte (double shot) and cappuccino, were weak. That was really disappointing because this place was my favorite coffee shop in Sitka.
I used to come this cafe every time I visited Sitka. But my last visit was 8 years ago. I assume something changed – management? They used to serve really good drinks back then… The interior is still great (which is why I gave two stars not one), but unfortunately, drinks are not satisfactory at all.
I will go to other great local cafes like Backdoor Cafe and Wildflower Cafe next time I visit Sitka.
20. Sheldon Jackson Museum
Address: 104 College Dr, Sitka, AK 99835 , Sitka City and Borough , Alaska , United States
A must in Sitka. We were lucky to get a personal guided tour by the museum director. There were so many items to see, the hour we spent wasn’t long enough… we plan to return. Amazing collection on native artifacts and everyday life elements. You must visit if in Sitka!!!
amazing collection
the room is small, but allow 3 hrs, at least twice…
Great collection to have a reasonable idea not Tinglit culture
Интересные экскурсоводы
Great artifacts and displays of first nation peoples of Alaska.
Wonderful collection of Alaskan Native artifacts. Staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely take time to open the drawers and explore items stored there!
