Portman’s Music Superstore has a myriad of instruments and equipment to choose from. I’ve never left their store dissatisfied. My favorite place to visit is the percussion section. Caleb Alexander displays all the values needed in a percussion sales representative. His knowledge is great and his customer service is second to none. However, if you are interested in musical instruments of another kind, I strongly suggest you visit Portman’s. You’ll find what you’re looking for and so much more.
Kudos to Simon and Jeff! They both have great customer service and real knowledgeable.
Chivarly still exist. May 20 Mr. Santos, (electronics department) assisted with expensive surprise for my husband. Mr. Santos provided education of each speaker, subwoofer, and wiring. Packaged and personally excorted me to my vehicle. Kudos. I encourage all ladies, church sisters, and daughter to visit Portman”s for major electronics.
Truly grateful,
I.Boyd
It’s the vibe of any typical music store, however they were very well-stocked very helpful to my needs – if not overbearing at some times. They had a wide range of products (but not really). If you like music, this is a store.
Cashier is great! Theon too busy at his computer to help you. Unless you are buying something
(Savannah Portmens is trash) Me and my sister went up there to string my electric guitar. The people literally told us it would be 3-4 days max. A week pass no call two weeks then passed, so we call up there and the people are like it’s not under no ones name but we literally put it under my name and my sisters name as a backup. So then they literally tried to keep my guitar. And previous to all that we first asked how much everything would cost and the man checking us out said “it’s a bit expensive can u afford it’s”? It’s cost like 56$ I don’t know if it was cause a race thing cause we was black but it was kinda offensive.
Ok so Ik at first I put two stars. Well I went back recently and it’s all new people there. The person that changed my guitar strings not only put new strings on it. But he also replaced the dial nobs with premium ones. And also polished it. I guess they seen my previous review and decided to better there business with better employees. They earned there third star from me.
Even though I am not sick, I could not purchase anything without a mask on. Been a customer for over 6 years. This local business just lost my support.
I stopped in back in December, 2017.
Not the friendliest staff at the Savannah location. Had to get guitar and eukele strings for my daughter. Not ONE salesman or staff member asked if I needed help. They stood around doing nothing. Wouldn’t even make eye contact with me. I stood there studying th strings for 10minutes. Finally, I called my daughter to help me get what she needed. Cashier was nice bt his nervous laugh & smile, made ME very uncomfortable. He never asked if I was military, i only got th military discount BECAUSE I showed him my ID with my credit card; MY usual SOP whilst shopping.
My daughter wanted to visit th store, she looking to buy a third guitar, bt when we talked about my experience, she changed her mind bt I could tell she was dissapointed. I won’t be coming back.
FYI to th staff; Not all of us are criminals. We feel just as nervous as you do when we shop certain places. Our money spends like everyone else’s.
As a former violinist, oboe and piano player, I know music is universal and not selective. Disgusted yes and saddend as well by th customer service.
Have a good day bt never again.
I took my acoustic here to have new strings put on and action lowered. Worst strings I’ve ever had on a guitar. Action wasn’t lowered one bit and got worse and worse. They charged me 75 bucks so I figured I’d get some decent strings atleast. But they obviously put the crappiest ones they could find on it. My solid top Yamaha sounded like a 50 dollar first act guitar when I got it back. Nothing against Portmans music…but whoever the “technician” was for this guitar either didn’t give a f*** or just sucked.

love, Love, LOVE Rody’s Music! I just went back to vinyl and my tastes are eclectic! Rody’s has a great selection! Will shop here everytime I’m in Savannah!
They fixed my baritone uke and I used to take bass guitar from Roy here when i was like 14 or 15. Roy doesnt really play bass guitar but he taught me what he knew. Cool people
Good merchandise courteous staff
Will never ask them to do anything again. Over $5000 to put two tvs on the wall and add Sonos sound. Spent 10 HOURS in the house and still couldn’t center a TV on a wall or hide cables properly.
On top of all that, they went into a room they weren’t supposed to be in and cut an “access hole” in the middle of a wall.. Complete bafoons. Will spend the rest of my life telling everybody it’s 1000 times better using Best Buy Geek Squad than these hillbillies from Savannah. Worst decision I ever made.
Use at your own risk!!

Adina, the store manager, is one of the most professional and knowledgeable business persons I have dealt with in over 40 years as a professional musician. She is on top of her game. The prices are great and service is even better
I wanted to learn to play ukulele, saw their store while getting crickets next door for our bearded dragon . Started with some great starter lessons and the manager there is super helpful with all my needs ! Great place to go !
Just bought a brand new Orange amp today and I’m so excited! Megan and Max are awesome. So helpful and good at what they do! Very nice folks!
Very kind staff and plenty of items for sale
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and respectable pricing. I’m not a musician, but my wife left impressed.
I’m truly upset with this store. I received 2 notices in the mail due to my credit card being declined. The reason why my card was declined was because of frauds activities. I went to pay on my daughter’s instrument and they told me that they do not accept payments in the store nor updated the information in their records. This is ludicrous. They need to change their policy. I called twice this week to reach customer service and they has me on hold for a whole hour. Something has to give.
The teen girl working was poorly dressed and rude. Having shopped at other locations before, I expected kind, well dressed employees with expert knowledge. That is not that case at this store– at least not with that employee!! This location lost the only good employee they had (the manager Brandon).

Got a great deal on my son’s dream guitar! They price match so make sure you check before you go, as long as they’re not having a sale on the product you’re looking at that is. I was able to save almost $100 this way! And they also buy instruments. Friendly cashier was able to help me with my questions and tested my sons new guitar for me to make sure everything worked. Great experience, highly recommend.
Great energy and selection. It feels like a playground and I’m inspired to try out all the different instruments.
Great store, great service and a really wide selection of products.
Very friendly employees awesome store.
Huge selection of guitars and accessories. Lots of other musical instruments as well. Drums, keyboards, speakers, etc. Friendly and knowledgeable staff can help you find whatever you are needing to get the band going.
Large clean store with lots of musical instruments and accessories!
Customer service was unacceptable. weren’t greeted upon arrival. Walked around the whole store, and not one person asked us, if we needed help finding anything. I guess people of color don’t play instruments. It’s ok because we went next door to Portman’s and spent very close to $10,000.00 on new equipment for our band.
Customer service is a joke here. Shame on this company and the employees who choose to work for them. Guitar Center’s business model is to open up next to an established business in the community and attempt to rob it blind.
Hell to the no!
Go to Portmans music RIGHT NEXT DOOR – where you will be treated like family!
Very disappointed, paid for my son to take percussion lessons here. For the whole first month they pair him with an instructor ( Luke ) who doesn’t read music. No one informed me that the young man was not able to read music until I inquired about when they were going to begin to read music!!!! For the second month and a half he was paired with an instructor (Aaron) who does read music but never taught him the first thing about reading music. They played based on whatever YouTube video they watched during his 1 hour session. Lastly they don’t keep track of the sessions and the music lead Nichole is not a pleasant person to converse with whenever she is available which isn’t often. These people need to clean up their act because as far as I’m concerned, all they have to offer Savannah are shiny guitars!!!

I recently moved from Philly ,and forgot my guitar tuner so I popped in and met Tyler , awesome dude and proprietor , he has a nice selection of really nice acoustic and electric guitars . Lessons are also available here.
I got the action and intonation setup on my guitar here and the difference is huge. The owner, Tyler, knows all about these instruments and will get you where you need to go.
Both of our kids have been taking piano lessons at this place for the past few years. They enjoy it and look forward to going every week. The service is phenomenal, and the instructors are great. The owner, Tyler, is a super nice guy. He is such a pleasure to work with, and he helps out with recommendations on what instruments to buy and where to find the best deals on them. If you are looking for a place to have lessons, look no further. We love Idlewild Guitars & Teaching Studios!
They are never there!!!

Yvonne was great and incredibly easy to work with. JL Music was able to play songs that were traditional and not so traditional for our ceremony! She worked with me on finding the right songs to walk down the aisle to and was very affordable. The use of the quartet was really special and made my ceremony that much more intimate and perfect. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a string band for their special event!
Beautiful violin music for a wedding ceremony!! So talented!
Amazing, amazing job playing the harp for our wedding ceremony. It was beautiful and really completed the vibe. We were lucky enough to hear her practice while we had our first look!

Great place to dig for vinyl and get your gear repaired
They offer high quality equipment & their service providers are very helpful and professional. They deserve a 5-rating. Office can be slow at getting you scheduled, however.
Treat me like family.
Not much good to say besides pretty good selection, albeit poorly merchandised. The store smells funky and most of the staff, including the owner did not seem very nice. If you’re looking for records, save yourself the time and just go to Grave Face!
Would have given them four stars but: After spending $220 to have Rody’s hoo’k up my electronics, I realized that I forgot to give the tech my headphones to hook up (I have a bi-lateral hearing loss). We moved into a home recently and I have been busy doing the usual move-in chores….Now that things have calmed down, I decided to hook up my head phones. No luck. I’ve tried everything that I could. So, I thought since Rody’s was here a couple of weeks ago, maybe, for a small fee, they could swing by and hook up these damn headphones. I just called Rody’s and the lady told me that it would cost me $135. I couldn’t believe it, especially since I told her they were here a couple of weeks ago. She was pretty curt about it saying that the $135 was their “service call fee”. Well, a couple of things: 1) Rody’s DEFINITELY lost a customer, 2) I will let everyone I know about the piss-poor customer relations on their part.
Be careful. I was quoted a figure of $10,000 for installation of a basic system, speakers, and security system. When the work was done I was given a bill for $30,000.
