Great high end brands unavailable anywhere else in San Diego. Knowledgable and not pushy and very competitive. San Diego needs a place like this!!
Very kind and knowledgeable owner.
The staff at Guitars San Diego was very helpful in assisting my purchase of a Suhr guitar. The guitar needed to be custom made at Suhr. John
did a great job keeping me in the loop and delivering an excellent product.
Kudos to all at Guitars San Diego.
Went there to Explore the wide variety of High end Acoustics, but unfortunately they were closed and you need to schedule an appointment. I will look to make an appointment next time in town. I was really interested in some Boucher Models they advertised.
Doug, I don’t need to be heard. I need others to understand your ethics so that they can make good choices on where to spend their money. I never mentioned color. I simply said I ordered the wrong mandolin. My husband wanted a 915 because of the tuners – color was not an issue for him. I accidentally ordered a 815. You said you didn’t have a 915 and that’s when you stated it wouldn’t be good business to do the return. I did tell you about my husbands health issues and you did rudely hang up on me. You didn’t even give me the option of paying the insurance and the shipping. I would have been very happy to do so. I never expected you to lose money. The mandolin is still in the original package unopened. If you care to make it right, please let me know.
Furthermore, the sticker on the box says “due to the risk of humidity changes and to reduce the risk of damage to your hand-crafted instrument – please do not open this box for 24 hours. This lets the instrument acclimate to the weather changes in your local area.” Unless someone is local it is impossible to meet your return deadline. If your intent is not to take returns, I recommend changing your website to state that.
I wish I had read YELP reviews before I purchased from you.
Buyers beware….don’t order from this company. I ordered a mandolin as a surprise for my husband and accidentally ordered the wrong model. The mandolin is still in the box and unopened. I missed the 2 day return policy by a few days because my husband has been seriously ill in the hospital with heart issues. I called Doug Law JR and told him my dilemma. He informed me that the return policy was 2 days and that it would not be good business to accept the return. Then he hung up on me! I am beyond disappointed with the way I was talked to and treated.
Good shop
2. San Diego Violins

Great service from Eric. He’s the goto guy for all your violin string needs. Plenty of parking a little out of the way but professional service! Highly recommend.
Very nice place, reliable string instruments with good quality. Manager is very friendly and knows a lot about string instruments, will answer all questions. They also give lessons. Good rental prices and good prices for buying. Rentals include instrument, shoulder rest (for viola and violin), rosin, bow, and case. I highly recommend this place, got my first viola there.
Perfect if you are looking for a Violin
Predictable string tribe scene. Aloof, elitist. Seemed reputable. Probably good if you’re of that tribe, or wanting to sign up for lessons from them. But if you’re someone like me looking to buy a cello in the $2,000-4,000 price range, I’d expect a 2-star experience. “Get out of my shop already, Hippie,” vibes.
3. 1 Stop DVD Duplication-SD
Address: 6150 Lusk Blvd # 103, San Diego, CA 92121 , Sorrento Valley , California , United States
I’ve been playing piano here for around 10 years, lesson are fun and productive and the teachers are very kind and understanding!
My son has been taking piano lessons with Katherine for over 3 years. He went to a different teacher before, but the pieces were not challenging enough. When we switched to Katherine, his progress improved considerably and he enjoyed practicing more. We like that Katherine focuses on the fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons in San Diego from Katherine Dvoskin for the last 4.5 years at the K&M Music Company. You will not find a better piano teacher anywhere with regards to her work ethic, patience, and experience. Her skill and dedication to the production of sound and technique along with her ability to teach you how to achieve a high level of excellence is exemplary. I would not hesitate to recommend her to any young beginner, or the aspiring professional.
5. Villa Musica

Customer service was A+++ and we were being quite difficult, so the service was even MORE impressive. 🙂
Great experience for the kids. Very attentive and patient instructors.
What a wonderful place for children and adults to learn music AND be a part of a rich musical community of guitarists, pianists, violinists, cellists, percussionists, clarinetists.. and the list goes on. Plus they give need based scholarships!!!
6. Music Central
Address: 8139 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92126 , Sorrento Valley , California , United States
They took such good care with my daughters flute. Also Chris is awesome with piano lessons. I love supporting a local business.
Friendly greeting from Brian when I came in. Immediately helped me with what I was looking for. Manager or owner (didn’t get his name) was also very nice and helpful. No high pressure. Just genuine interest in helping me. Let me try as many guitars as I wished and I walked out with a beautiful Mahogany deck acoustic. Great buying experience. Ssssaaahhhwweeeet!
Awesome because it had all the muscal stuff I needed
Small shop with a large selection of sheets/tabs, a selection of guitars/ukuleles, and a room for music lessons in the back. Went in looking to see if they had any amps. Staff there at the moment (piano player & oboe player) were not knowledgeable about guitars or amps, but I got help from other guitar players who were hanging out there. I found an amp that I liked, but it didn’t have a price tag or box with it, so I asked the oboe player (don’t remember name… Max? young guy) about the price. He immediately started looking for the box/price in the guitar section and in the back, and then he got on the phone for a while to ask someone about it. Eventually he found out that the price was normally $110, but the box was still missing. Because of the box missing, they knocked the price down to $90! I appreciated him spending so much time helping me, and the discount they gave. Overall a good experience. Might come back for lessons!
So-so. They didn’t have 2A 250V fuse for a Fender Amp. Poor selection of instruments. Other than that, the staff guy was very knowledgeable and helpful.
They are a great local store with some friendly and helpfull staff. The music lessons and instrument rentals are very reasonable and their instructors are encouraging and patient.
Just stopped by because I needed some drumsticks, literally the worst and most limited selection of drumsticks I have seen in a music store. This is why people buy online or go to guitar center.
Called ahead to make sure this store had the drum sticks my son needed for band. They confirmed they had them and quoted me $30-40. I drove all the way from Escondido in traffic to get them. Upon arrival the clerk informs me that she misquoted me and the sticks are actually $50 and they wouldn’t honor the quote. As a musician and a previous music instrument store clerk, I can say with certainty that this kind of behavior will make Music Central and any other store like them the newest victim of GC in no time.
7. Nguyen Music Studio – San Diego
Address: 10505 Sorrento Valley Rd, San Diego, CA 92121 , Sorrento Valley , California , United States
Not only great prices and excellent product (ordered an obscure mic, hard to find with vol control), but the post office temp lost my package. Ugh. I ordered a second one (which they had!), USPS found the original (eyeroll) and through it all Ron really kinda jumped through hoops to make sure everything was all good – even though it wasn’t their fault. Who does that?? These guys. We will absolutely keep ordering gear from Rockin Ron’s! Tight. Thanks Ron!!

I take special music lessons to help with Parkinson’s disease, a mix of piano harmonica singing drums and other fun stuff. I feel it’s really help me with my symptoms. You make close friends with the other students and it’s actually really good support group.
While taking the elevator to see my friend that had open heart surgery at Scripps hospital in la Jolla I met the most amazing woman named Audrey we began to chat and I found out she worked for your company and that she did music therapy I asked her if she could come to the room and play for my friend who was having a ruff few days. Audrey showed up and lighten the mood with her amazing voice. She is a very uplifting woman with the most beautiful voice

We have two girls, 10 an 7, studying piano and music theory at the FMC. Scouting about for the right teacher can be really stressful on lots of levels — before we eventually came into the Foundation, we have had to change our private piano teacher 3 times during 3 years. Sometimes we found a good teacher, but they had to relocate for career development or stop teaching to take care of sick parents. A friend of ours recommended the FMC then we made a fortunate decision at this time. We are paying less tuition than ever but have seen tremendous and comprehensive improvements in our girls’ performance within 3 months. Our girls have recently taken their first RCM technical exam and scored “First Class Honors” or above, respectively — thanks very much to Rebecca and her team for their devotion, effort, and outstanding teaching skills. We also highly recommend the unlimited Supplemental program — our kids had never learned music theory before but now they are almost ready for the first level of the RCM theory exam. They provide the Lab class so kids can have a quality 30-min self-practicing time, and the rhythmic and theory lessons are usually taught by their experienced faculty making the lessons are truly cost-effective.
The Foundation Music Center is a great music studio with a convenient location in San Diego near the 5 freeway. My daughter is 11 and I was looking for an experienced teacher for piano lessons. I was extremely satisfied with the level of education her teacher had and the overall vibe of the music studio environment. This music studio offers other instruments like guitar, drums, and saxophone as well as ongoing Theory classes and day camps during the summer. It is well worth the money. I highly recommend it!
The Foundation Music Center is exceptional in every way! The training is superb and they inspire my daughter to stretch her limits musically!!! We are so grateful to be working with this team of professionals!!!!
13. Greene Music
Address: 7480 Miramar Rd, San Diego, CA 92126 , Sorrento Valley , California , United States
Good place to come in when you need a piano. With many pianos to choose. Noel Carlsen gave me and my mom a great customer service. My family already got 2 pianos at Green Music.
Knowledgeable staff. Noel helped us compare and contrast different models of digital pianos we were interested in purchasing. He pointed out important differences between the models we hadn’t thought of. Happy with our purchase.
Store has “no return” policy’ Unfortunately, I did not notice a cancellation note in the agreement.
Nice recital hall
Nice selection of pianos and limited other instruments. Prices are pretty good overall with occasional great deals. Haven’t noticed a change in service since new ownership took over.
Went, was kinda busy and got ignored. Was ready to buy a piano, to. Not completely their fault, but still.
I am a piano teacher, my name is Yanlin Li. My student bought new a Yamaha nu1 from this store, the piano has a issue, they couldn’t fix it, and couldn’t replace a new one for the whole year, my student suffering from the broken key. When I called them, they said it’s a issue between my students and Yamaha, none business with them or me. And don’t want to talk with me.
Wanted to sell piano on consignment and was asked to e-mail pictures and send back a form with details about the piano. Never heard back from them again even after repeated calls…unprofessional to say the least
Very nice, comprehensive overview of the Baritone Uke!
Terry Carter owner and his whole crew are the best. He exudes professionalism and is always helpful. I have purchased several ukuleles and other accessories from his store and my experience has always been perfect. I had the opportunity to visit his store in person and meet Terry. He is the real deal and cares about his customers and is also a great teacher.
Received my Aquila Lava GCEA strings for my baritone and they sound great.
Order arrived as scheduled.
I enjoyed my first visit
Cool place to go look at music instruments
The shop is overpriced and the owner is shady as hell. If you even do the most basic of comparison shopping, you’ll see how much he’s trying to take advantage of ukulele players.
Carter’s NOT the only game in town and uke players deserve better.
Well product said ukelele humidification system and ended up just humidification pouches that are way too big for ukelele sound hole only able to put in case with instrument wasn’t really what I was looking for thought they’d be smaller I’ll use till I find something better like Dadario guitar type with humidity pouches shipping was kinda slow also I guess their a bit smaller than guitar ones not much though
it has been 6 days and I still have not received my strings I will never buy another thing from you I EVEN HAD TO PAY FOR SHIPPING! ! !

I recently purchased the Acme Piano from the Piano store and I must say, I am impressed! The sound quality and craftsmanship of this instrument are exceptional. The keys are incredibly responsive, making playing a joy. I also appreciate the attentive and knowledgeable staff who guided me through the selection process. Overall, my experience with the Acme Piano has exceeded my expectations.
17. Bertrand’s Music & Lessons San Diego

We highly recommend Bertrand’s to anyone, from beginner to someone who already knows an instrument. They have highly qualified instructors. Our overall experience has been really good.
Always appreciate the friendly and helpful staff who make everything so easy to address and solve.
Bertrand’s Music Store offers a wide variety of instruments, each possessing various learning possibilities, and every path featuring time and nurture to help us achieve our music goals. Thanks so much to Bertrand’s for inspiring me to play!
Small selection of piano music.
Best place to rent a musical instruments.
Don’t waste your time with music lesson’s here. It’s a an overpriced scam where you waste money while most kids decide they don’t like it. If you want your kids to learn music have them learn it in school or anywhere other than here.
After almost 10 years of renting instruments from this location through our 4 kids I was disappointed when we asked for some help setting a bridge on a violin we found for A LOT cheaper they refused to help without charging a crazy amount because they “DON’T substitute your funds you accumulate after years of rentals on anything else!” Lesson learned…it is all about the money! My opinion is that they are OVER priced and you can find the same quality of instruments on-line for a fraction of the price you will end up spending here over the years. There is NO sense of customer service at all.
The employees are kind and the store is clean. But repair fee is expensive and it takes too long time. And we should rent an instrument under repairing. So I went to other place for repairing near downtown. They fixed it in 10 mins and I could pay under half price. So I don’t want to recommend this place for repair in a hurry.
18. Sanctuary Art & Music Studio

This place is the best. Mrs Paula is so sweet and patient. My son who is Autistic attended once a week for two years. She always had a fun art project set up for him. A great alternative for art therapy. They charge by the hour a extremely reasonable fee. Also have music and singing lessons.
