Super helpful staff, answers any questions I may have.
Great customer service
Great friendly staff. Very knowledgeable, made the purchase swift and easy.
Thanks !
Not a great selection for woodwinds
Gotta say it’s pretty good I tried a few of there basses (all out of tune) but they were helpful and I picked up a pretty nice strap
I brought my trumpet in to have a valve fixed. They did it while I waited. great service, nice people, clean well stocked shop
Took my sons trumpet in to be fixed. They quoted me 2 weeks and $35. Took them almost 2 months and cost $80 and all they did was solder three connections!
Never doing business with them again!
When it comes time to rent for your child’s band class, please look elsewhere. This is a terrible company with ethics in operations that are similar to the mafia. There are so many local Mom and Pop instrument places around. Please give them your business. Oh, and they’ll probably be a lot nicer too.
I had a really negative experience here a few weeks ago. I called the store to see if they had flutes and the guy on the phone was really friendly and told me they did have flutes. I showed up about 30 minutes to look at the flutes and was basically denied service. I don’t know why. First, when I got there, the guy working was helping another customer. No prob. Then he took a phone call, ok, I still waited. At that point another person came in behind me and was also waiting in line. When the worker got off the phone he took the guy behind me! I was furious. He said “Oh, I can help both of you” but just proceeded to work on the guys trumpet who was in line behind me! I just said screw it and as I was leaving he actually said “have a nice day!” Like wth??? I was a serious buyer too. So disappointing.
6. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 8151 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32244 , St. Johns , Florida , United States
Very knowledgeable and patient staff. Helped us navigate troubleshooting and processing repair claim with manufacture. Highly recommend their extended warranty as they will replace the item on the spot. Thank you Jeremy and Jeremy!
I went to Sam Ash, Jacksonville, yesterday and took my 13 year old boy. We were there for the Martin Stringing event. We were both blown away at how much value we received from a Free guitar stringing event. Joe Steinhart took his time and taught us both how to properly string and care for our guitars. And he also completed a necessary repair on mine free of charge, too.
I have purchased two guitars from Sam Ash and both are keepers. I am happy I did so from this store instead of from Amazon, because I have learned Sam Ash will take care of me and my instruments, and a warehouse cannot.
Thank you again, Joe, for your attention and service. My son and I will look forward to stopping by again soon.
I was overjoyed at our experience. The salesman was especially helpful as my girlfriend bought herself her first guitar. Thanks.
I came in with an experienced guitar player to find a good beginner guitar, so I didn’t have much interaction with staff. My mentor and I found a great Taylor at the right price for a beginner, so I bought it. Staff was polite and helpful and immediately pulled the guitar I selected from stock.
Very helpful staff in helping me decide on my equipment purchase. Great selection too
Friendly people. Could be a bit more helpful but beats guitar center anyday!
If I could, I would give it no stars. Went to the store on a Saturday looking to give my child an experience to buying her instrument we were met with a sales associate who appears to be a know it all. Before coming I did my own research and knew the price range I could afford. I was then met with, don’t purchase this new $189 flute because it’s a Amazon instrument and it won’t last. But they were quick to try to sell me a infinity rental agreement which I’m against. Well, I then went to Music and Arts and was meet with quality sales associate. The Experienced there was much better and I was able to purchase a quality instrument and also raised my budget, but not breaking the bank. I don’t recommend Sam ash because it appears they make enough money that they can afford to lose cash paying customers.
Honestly one of the worst companies, if not the very worst company, I have ever dealt with. They misrepresent their “Guitars of Distinction” as something better, going as far as to claim they are hand selected… really they are just high end instruments that Sam Ash has limited supply. They messed up my original financing. Then the guitar doesn’t show up originally when I was advised it would. Then it arrives damaged. The store “tried” to get it resolved by agreeing to send it back to Fender but then Fender couldn’t repair it. At that point when I started asking questions they didn’t want to answer any questions. Honestly they just seemed to be more concerned with getting me to take another guitar. The guitar originally bought was unique in its finish so when I inquired about getting something close to what I originally bought they avoided the question over and over, then just wanted to refund my money. When Sammy Ash became engaged things only got worse. He is not a people person for sure and instead of acting like a professional and working with me he made claims that were false. When I pointed out the false claims he just want to refund the money and be done with it. The lack of professionalism from this company is crazy. Honestly if you are looking for a professional company that provides top notch customer service and provides competitive deals go to Sweetwater.
Will not shop or order here again. Ordered a Yamaha Arius online, stated that since it had been on the ground it would ship asap and be delivered to me in 2- 3 days. Kept checking for a tracking #, nothing. Kept getting brushed off when I would ask customer service about it. Same answer “it’s processing”. Finally got told it would be shipped out and have a tracking #. Day 9, I check online and it’s like I never ordered anything. Reached out to customer service, same answer “it’s processing”. Finally had enough and just canceled it. Only good thing was the lady, Lisa, who helped me cancel it. Y’all were a better company when it was George’s Music.
7. Jacksonville’s Piano Man Michael Joseph Murphy – Accelerated Piano Studies
Address: 1449 Greyfield Dr, St. Augustine, FL 32092 , St. Johns , Florida , United States
Mr. Michael is an amazing musician and is an equally amazing person and teacher. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to develop their musical talents. He will have you playing, learning, and progressing quickly. We feel so lucky to have been connected to Mr. Michael.
All three of my children have taken years of lessons from Michael. It has been amazing to see them grow in their musical ability and knowledge. Michael encourages them, takes them out of their comfort zone, and guides them to ensure their talents are not wasted.
Michael is truly a very gifted teacher and pianist. He is able to connect with his students and help them build their skills and knowledge to achieve their goals. Michael is very professional and his teaching is of the highest quality!
Always a bevy of guitars and equipment available. New and used gear of all kinds and there are always deals available. Staff are friendly and informed about the equipment.
Love it!
Good services
Honestly, guitar centers as a whole have become very disappointing. The EXPERIENCE of shopping there that use to be there has seemed to have fallen completely off. There is rarely anyone there to help you on the spot anymore. I’m a drummer and there is NEVER anyone in the department. I honestly have driven to Orlando just to go to sam ash for better selection and a more musician friendly shopping experience. I have 2 guitar centers in jacksonville. Neither are really trying to be better than what they are from q consumer standpoint. If I need q quick pair of sticks I will go. Most other things, I’ll go online to Amazon or another retailer. Bring back the JOY OF BEING A GUITAR CENTER CUSTOMER.
I only gave 3 stars because the item was mint and well priced. Took 5 days for them to ship after it was paid for. I ordered a bass amp on line. It was shipped to store. They didn’t ship the foot pedal or power cord. No one would help resolve. Just very indifferent. Thats all they shipped us, dont know what to tell ya. They have shelves of power cords. So I ordered a foot switch online(from a different retailer) for $15 and got a cord @ Home Depot. I will now do my business @ Georges Music across the Street.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. I went to sell couple instruments and the employee acted very bothered having to help me while mumbling and sighing very loudly. The trade took over an hour of standing around while the employee walks off multiple times to do other tasks. Definitely go to Sam Ash across the street.
Service is terrible. No reason to be so disrespectful to customers.
Used to be a good place to get advice and buy equipment. Now, not so. Waited around for what seamed like 30 minutes, looking to find a pick-up for my acoustic guitar. Couldn’t find one and nobody asked if I needed help. Left the store frustrated. Sorry guys, next time I’ll go the extra miles to the beach and to your competition to buy what I need.
Great guys. Adam was awesome and fun. Really spent time giving me his advice and connecting. Did not feel like some music shops when you go in and are intimidated. I have played for a while but am rusty and I never once felt rushed or judged. Great experience. Wish I lived in Jacksonville so o could frequent this store when I needed equipment.
They were very helpful would recommend to others
Great place to go! The people there know their stuff and were more than happy to help me find a guitar I’ve been looking for since I was a kid! Give them a try there’s never been a better time to learn an instrument with all of this social distancing
Great selection
Quality gear, polite reps.
I attended a music recording seminar hosted by Warren Cook at George’s Music and found it to be superior to a competitor’s class offering. Warren’s class was better because of his content. He also taught from an outline that he had prepared and had handed out to all of the participants. Mr. Cook did not try to “wow” us with esoteric, far-out concepts, but instead, he offered practical and easy to follow advice. Our time spent with Mr. Cook was valuable and gave us all a feeling of goodwill toward George’s music. I will attend other classes as they are offered.
I do have a few suggestions for George’s Music that could improve the class experience even further. If it was possible for George’s Music to build a 20′ x 20′ room for the purpose of displaying a Mac and or PC setup for recording it would give the students more of a clear idea of what is needed for a home studio. Maybe that would generate some immediate sales. Classes could have some privacy and isolation as different elements of home recording are displayed on screen and demonstrated in real time. Mr. Cook’s class had to come to an end when other customers were playing with the steel drum section right next to our class area.
My main motivation for writing this letter is because of my very positive experiences at your store on Blanding Blvd., and for the very high quality of Mr. Cooks’ knowledge of home recording and his excellent ability to teach it to the average person like myself.
Nice place, clean. Instruments didn’t look worn down like most places. However, I purchased a Yamaha YPG-235 keyboard “on sale” here for $289. Wal-Mart, guitar center, and multiple places on the internet have it for $249. Its what I get for not doing my research. A simple Google before you buy something could save you $40.
Well, this store USED to be a great place to shop at. What a shame. Apparently the OP store is closed so I drove 45 minutes to the beaches location to exchange a microphone I have thats under warranty. I was told that the companies warranty policies have changes. Whats ridiculous is that NONE of the changes I was told are reflected on the company’s website. Under the location for the Orange Park store they have the beaches address listed. What a horrible buisness. Not following the warranty under on your own buisness page in order to swindle me into buying a new microphone. I look forward to this store shutting down and hopefully getting a useful music store to replace it. Very clear that this location has no interest in getting customers to return. Dont go here. Its not what it used to be.
Went here to get strings and some other things wasnt sure of what I was going to buy but I was fixing to spend about 500 until I got told that I had to have a mask abd the lady said we can do curbside I said no thanks I want to pick it out my self see touch maybe play it but had to take my buisness else where cause they woukdbt let me look without a mask I wint never go back here every
12. Cronin Ace Hardware
Address: 2843 County Rd 210, St Johns, FL 32259 , St. Johns , Florida , United States
This Ace location is great, very polite staff, and as always very helpful, and good prices.
Excelent
Very helpful staff. Always have what I need.
Convenient
It’s a small store but it has a good staff of people.
Helpful associates. Nice neighborhood place.
The staff are helpful and friendly, however not one of them was wearing a mask. Disappointed, as the Ace on San Jose and Home Depot at Durbin Pavilion have all staff wearing masks. I will drive a couple more miles to go somewhere that feels more safe and has leadership that cares more about their customers.
Not good.
No one wears a mask, no employees, and not many customers. No social distancing.
13. Clark’s Music Center
Address: 4154 Herschel St, Jacksonville, FL 32210 , St. Johns , Florida , United States
I was looking for a place to bring my soprano sax for some work. I wasn’t sure what was wrong with it. I called few places and each said they could handle it and it’d take about six weeks. That typically means they’re sending it out somewhere. I found Clark’s through my Google search and gave them a call. They said it’ll take a couple of days. They do repairs in house and they did a stellar job. I’ve clearly found a gem! A small, locally owned business that’s competent and clearly takes a lot of pride in their work! It actually makes me feel good to support a business like this. Kudos to Clark’s!
I needed an emergency flute fix done and Bruce helped me out! Very nice and helpful folks there- thanks again!
These folks are as helpful and friendly as they get! Keep your money in the community and support this family owned and operated business.
Obviously from My approach I went and asked if they buy guitars they said Nonchalantly that they wasn’t That enough that they are receiving a big shipment in but they were buying something similar from a white couple this may not be what it look like it was I do not know I just know the website says they buy guitars and they refuse me almost immediately when I came in the door
Dealing with the owner’s loud mouthed wife was nothing more than a big fat waste of me and my family’s time today.
14. Walmart Supercenter
Address: 845 Durbin Pavilion Dr, St Johns, FL 32259 , St. Johns , Florida , United States
Walmart is one of my favorite places to go shopping with prices better than other places. The store was clean and friendly staffing.
Clean and felt safe.
Nice
Nice people..cashiers ect. But. Never seem to have enough on the shelves. We always shop here but a lot of what we need is always out.
Amazing …. Love this place
This makes 2nd time in as many attempts my scan by phone will not work. LUCKILY I had my card to insert for payment. During has lost my business and prices are higher at this store than other Walmarts.
Mala Atencion se niegan a vender los productos de Promocion para la compania telefonos TMovil especificamente el Equipo Samsung Note 9
Electronics worker looked disinterested and made me feel like I was the problem, for asking for an item behind the locked glass doors.
15. Guitar Center
Address: 9365 Atlantic Blvd #1, Jacksonville, FL 32225 , St. Johns , Florida , United States
Isreal the sales associate was very knowledgeable and loved to talk gear.
Great gear, great selection. Prices on accessories are steep. 3 stars because I waited at the register a few minutes for someone and when they came they had a bad attitude.
It is what it is
Nice sells
We were about to spend thousands of dollars until the staff was rude to us. So we left and we’ll spend that money somewhere else. It might have looked like we were just looking but you should never make assumptions about your customers. Every interaction is important. We have brought a lot of business to Guitar Center and already spent a lot of money there but never again. There are lots of options out there and you lost our loyalty. We walked out without saying a word but we certainly won’t stay silent about our experience.
No one provided any service. We reviewed the gutair selections for about 15 minutes but no one ever approached us for assistance.
Left and purchased a guitar from across the street at the Sam Ash Music Store.
Went in to purchase a gift card which I thought would be a simple in & out quick process on a weekday night @ 7:30. Only two people in the store working on “complex issues” with the line slowly backing up. I figured I would wait the 15 minutes for the benefit of the doubt, but after not being acknowledged along with the other waiting customers, I finally walked out.
16. Rhapsody Music Inc
Address: 1820 State Rd 13, Jacksonville, FL 32259 , St. Johns , Florida , United States
Reconditioned and repaired a 30 year old trombone in under 2 days.
Great experience shopping here, fair prices and great service.
Friendly, knowledgeable, quick, good prices!
He repaired my trumpet acceptably, but he under-estimated $10 short of double the price I paid. Less than two weeks later, an Issue similar to the one I had repaired manifested due to allignment issues. If you need a mouthpiece removed, though, he’ll do that!
Good customer service
I took my step daughters trumpet to be repaired there are they weren’t very direct on giving me a quote for the repairs. I ended up driving further to Music and Arts and they were very helpful and direct with their pricing. Not a big fan of this place but it’s ok if you need something in a pinch.
I have been waiting over there weeks for a simple repair, would strongly not recommend you go here for repairs!
Very overpriced. When I went in there to buy a Hercules Saxophone stand, the price was $62.99. I ended up buying and realized later that it was cheaper online for an average of $45. I went back to try and return it but he refused to refund my money. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. HE IS TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF, DO NOT BUY HERE. You are better off shopping for it online.
I called to inquire about the price of cleaning a trombone and did not have a pleasant experience. When I expressed sticker shock at the price, the owner, Mr. Robert became defensive and rude. I have not had to have an instrument cleaned and was unaware of the cost. I called around to other businesses and received a little better pricing and a much better attitude.
Really loved my shopping experience. Kevin’s is a local busines with great service. I was greeted immediately a catered to by Shane. He shared with me what he knew and what he didn’t know. Would advise anyone shopping for audio equipment to make Kevin’s your first stop.
Kevin is the man. He let me take my time browsing, answered all my questions, and sold me the best guitar I’ve ever owned. Can’t say enough good things about this place!
Great people
The most stocked music store I ever been in.
Good place
A nice place! Good service
I was really rushed the first time. And I purchased sound system now I am happy with it
Very disappointed in the employees attitude. We are lifelong friends of Kevin that passed away and we felt like we were treated like we weren’t welcome there. We will never go back.Kevin would be very disappointed in the way the “family member”treated us. I just hope that she isn’t that rude with all her customers. Kevin would never treat his customers like she did. Really sad
I walked in the lady was on the phone I mean that’s alright. A little kid was running around which I don’t think is a good idea. After the lady gets off the phone she just looks at me until I speak. I ask for a book for trumpets then out of nowhere a man just says we don’t have trumpet books never said hello just say try Music time and gave me a card.
