Just past the one-year anniversary of my purchase of a new Schilke i33 trumpet. I love the horn. I have played for more years than I care to admit and I have acquired several brand name trumpets over the years, including another Schilke. The i33 plays like a sports car drives. The horn plays very well in all registers, response is superb and slotting in the high register forces me to practice more because it is so much fun!
I needed a tweak a few months after purchase and I live about an hour from Chicago. I phoned ahead and visited the plant. The Schilke staff and owner were very cordial and accommodating. Great work Schilke, the horn is perfect. 5 stars!
My son just invested in his first trumpet and a big thanks to Bennett at Schilke for hooking him up. These trumpets are not easy to come by, however Bennett was up-to-speed with Schilke’s production and nation-wide shipment schedules and he took the time to coordinate a trial at a music store most local to us. It was totally worth the wait. He also took the time to educate us on all the trumpet lines that Schilke has to offer. My son plays both jazz and symphony in high school and ended up with the B5. He LOVES it and it seems to be taking his playing to a whole new level. To hear it, you would know why. I highly recommend working with Schilke if you are in the market for a new trumpet. We look forward to touring the factory the next time we visit Chicago:)
3. TheHitShop Recording studio
Address: 1950 N Ruby St, Melrose Park, IL 60160 , Stone Park , Illinois , United States
There’s no place like home! & Home is definitely The HitShop.
One of the best studios in Chicago
The hit shop is the place to go ! Un-matched atmosphere. AQ is a different breed when it comes to engineering and making beats. He has an ear for music that no one in Chicago quite has. Quality over everything!
My recent experience, we used DLS for their practice rooms. I reserved a spot. They got my info and the date and time was set. On the day of, i got a text from one of the guys working there asking what exactly did we need in the practice room. I gave him the info and when I arrived, everything was set and ready to go. He helped set up the sound to our preference and we got our practice in. Great soundproof rooms, very clean, and kind/courteous staff. Will definitely use again.
Seems one of the best for nex music in Chicagoland
Recording music for the lord.
Not many rooms to practice never pick up phone calls

This location has best people to deal with. Best looking women and Mike in sales#1
Wonderful customer service! Had a great experience here, an easy and smooth process to find what I was looking for!
Not worth the time. Management is garbage and very unhelpful
I bought a laptop that said password protected as is. I paid $60 for it. I thought I would just reinstall windows when I boughyt
I had to plug it in. I turned it on and it popped
up blank screen asking for password so I took it to a computer professional they said it was bio protected and needed
A motherboard I notified ez pawn and they
Refused to give me cash back or store credit
And they said that is why we sold it because
Of the problems so they Are now selling things to the public and that can’t be used which in this case it’s just a big paper weight.
No me gusto para nada si pudiera no le daría ningún estrella la mujer que atiende es un grosera y cero amable , me pidió el recibo para poder vender algo yo no más no me gusto para nada
8. Kagan and Gaines Music Co., Inc
Address: 7655 Roosevelt Rd, Forest Park, IL 60130 , Stone Park , Illinois , United States
I have been going to Kagan and Gaines for over ten years. They are always ready to help and even ready to “pull strings” to make things happen. They gave me a discount on a new pair of cello strings. They even replaced the strings there and then instead of a few days later.
This place is awesome! I was looking to get my electric bass setup for the first time ever and was on the fence for a while about going to a Guitar Center. Then I remembered there being a music store near the Walmart on Roosevelt. I checked on Google maps to see if it was still around and it sure is!
Took my bass in on a Friday not knowing how long I’d be instrumentless for and was surprised to receive a phone call the following Monday that it was ready! I thought I would be waiting until at least Thursday. The folks here left it sounding, looking, and feeling like a whole new instrument all over again.
I’ll definitely be back for any and all my musical needs from here on out. If you’re like me and also curious about this local business, give them a shot!
I love my new Yamaha guitar! Jesse is helpful and straightforward. Helped me pick a guitar that I love to play. Don’t go to the big box store. Get a guitar that is professionally set up and plays great for the same price. You will be glad you bought your guitar here.
45 dollars for an on the spot (30 min) electric guitar restring, minus the price for the strings, is a little steep, folks. I appreciate the good work, but I can get the same treatment for a lot less at A Sound Education off Ogden.
I gave this place a bad review after dealing with a younger employee But when the manager was alerted to the situation (A few days later) it was dealt with fairly. Kagan and Gains has a long time reputation in their neighborhood of being the first choice for musical lessons of any instrument and Fair pricing on instruments and accessories. It may not be the best place to shop for a new guitar But they can handle all your needs afterwords. I recommend them for all your strings, Guitar cases, Band instruments, ect. You will find all of them are of good quality and pricing.
Nice and helpful staff, but they require you to give them your phone number to make a purchase. No thanks. Took my business elsewhere.
I hate to agree with the user below who complained of a dishonest experience, but we are going through the same. I’ve read all of the other 5 star reviews and notice a pattern: it seems that for violin and stringed instruments, this is a great place. For renting brass/woodwind instruments via their monopoly with the school districts, they are subpar and dishonest. We should have just purchase a used instrument which would have resulted in us obtaining a superior instrument at, I am not exaggerating, 1/4 the total cost. We just had to call them to stop processing our credit card when we noticed we had been paying an abnormally long time on my daughter’s VERY USED, VERY DENTED saxophone (4 years!). We were “reassured” that, coincidentally, they were just going to call us as well as our payments happened to be completed. Yet they have no records of all the payments that we made, and are asking us to provide payment records going back to 2017 to “prove” how much we have paid in total. Luckily for us, we can easily provide them as they have all been made on the same credit card for years. We are also disputing the amount owed as our daughter’s original “nicer” model saxophone broke, was taken in for repairs, and she was given a loaner, student-model, older and dented sax. Her other one was never repaired and instead she’s just had this one forever. We were told at the time it would be “worked out.” Now they want us to pay the same amount as they were going to charge for the initial instrument to keep this replacement instrument permanently, as they also claim to have NO record that any switch was ever made or that the original saxophone was ever brought in for repairs. Typically, I endeavor to support neighborhood shops, but not when their record keeping is straight out of Mayberry. This is taking a lot of our time and energy to sort out, and we’ve ultimately laid out over $2300 to own an instrument that I have found at multiple music stores online for around $600 and under. We understand that renting the own is typically more expensive, but this feels like being swindled in every way. Extremely disappointed. My husband has been playing music for over 40 years – he also used to play saxophone – and his mother is a professional classical musician. He is used to dealing with all sorts of music shops and has never had an experience like this one.

This ia by FAR the best studio in town. Very professional yet relaxed recording environment, and any music produced out of there is beyond dope. This studio can produce any style of music, and with the studio expanding, this is the place to be!
Great space to work on music. I worked with Volcano Beats and I have learned a lot from him involving Mashine and Ableton Live!
LOVE this studio and guys there are so knowledgable. I take production lessons from Volcanobeats here and absolutely love it
10. Austin Music Center
Address: 6815 W North Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302 , Stone Park , Illinois , United States
Great shop. Called asking if they had the drum heads I needed. Went to store. They had them setting aside waiting for me. Quick service. Friendly owner.
My nephew plays several instruments. We’ve visited here to have his guitar string replaced, and we purchased a used trumpet. The gentleman in the shop is very knowledgeable and friendly. I’ve had great experiences here and I look forward to visiting again. Definitely stop by for your instrument needs.
Awesome. Went looking for a good affordable guitar. Found a new one for a reasonable price. The reasonable price was already marked down. Then he gave me another discount, and threw in some free stuff on top of that. I’m never shopping anywhere else again.
