Love this place and.the gorgeous students on campus
Uconn’s CoOp is amazing. The first floor is for all Husky merchandise from clothing to coozies! The second floor is dedicated to student text books, shipping and few other helpful areas. There is an attached coffee shop and small market-like store for quick grocery items.
Nice bookstore
Expensive but nice
Convenient position for Uconn students with a LOT of Uconn merchandise inside. Also with a Starbucks inside. It is very pricey though…
As with many college bookstores, it’s more about selling apparel and souvenirs than books. It is well stocked, with lots of options to show your UConn support. However, I found there was a lack of Soccer related items, and to be honest, I found it to be very expensive, even overpriced in many cases. It became overwhelming, the amounts of essentially, the same things made by different suppliers at different costs. Perhaps less would be more?
And, although it was neat and tidy, I thought it was very understaffed.
Too expensive. For an academic institution to turn the bookstore into a max profit place really is saddening.
Buy online.. extremely overpriced.make it more reasonable
Overpriced — way too costly. A shame. Bring back the old UConn Co-op & alumni discounts. Only purchased sale clothes on BOGO & still overpriced.
4. WHUS Radio
Address: 2110 Hillside Rd, Storrs, CT 06268 , Storrs , Connecticut , United States
Always clean tables restroom nice place to study or stop by to grab a coffee
Staff are delightful & friendly. Love coming here.
Sometimes the orders are right and other times it needs to be remade. Sometimes your drinks are ready right away and other times you wait over 35 minutes (no joke). It’s one of the 2 Starbucks in Storrs, so you don’t have many other options unless you like Dunkin.
Staff is extremely kind and makes great coffee. But it must be owners or management who made this rule: no 30 oz (trenta) matcha lattes allowed to be sold. I didnt mind this at first. maybe its an issue of the matcha powder supply cost, im not sure. But when I watched the employee dump the remaining matcha down the drain i couldnt help but wonder why they couldnt have just sold me a Trenta, made the extra $ and given me my drink size I originally wanted. Sorry but this rule is extremely odd especially when youre dumping the rest down the drain…
Yet another Starbucks coffee shop. It’s a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Great place to spend your spare time…
I really despise Starbucks. They are dirty ol communists and the coffee is trash. The sandwiches are pre packaged and the workers or “baristas” can’t make a coffee to save their life. I love American God bless the USA and America Runs on Dunkin.
Terrible company who serves terrible coffee all while not supporting our country or our rights.
My 7 year old says, “this is dark chocolate first of all, but its not. The hot chocolate was terrible. I spent $4.50 of my hard earned money, for this? Please. Stick to coffee, if you can’t figure out how to do hot chocolate.”
After Mike set up my guitar, I couldn’t stop playing it! Expert service at a reasonable price.
honest, competent, reasonable.
Best thing you can do to a guitar is bring it to Mike and have it set up!!
Such a great feel when it returns from his shop!
Highly recommended !!
Small place. Gentleman works out of his shed. Very knowledgeable about guitars. I brought my old Ibanez guitar in hoping to get it repaired. I fully expected to have him say it wasn’t worth the effort to fix. Instead, he said that other than the neck needing adjustment, it was in decent condition. He also understood the sentimental attachment I had with the guitar. The price for the projected repair was reasonable, and has been promised for 4 weeks. Now it’s just a matter of getting the guitar back and inspecting the work.
10. Song-a-Day Music
Address: 2809 Boston Turnpike, Coventry, CT 06238 , Storrs , Connecticut , United States
He was able to work with my schedule, very knowledgeable, kept me at a good pace and drilled me on the things I was really wanting to know. I unfortunately had to cancel for personal reasons but intend to return. I’ve been playing for roughly 2 years but had no theory, so seeing him was a big help.
Shadow is an excellent musician and teacher. He taught my 4 year old with patience and used his favorite music – rock and roll- to keep him motivated. He works from strengths and finds small improvements to make sure something is learned every session. And I learned something too just by being in the room!
He’s very calm and understands if you need a little extra time to understand something. He also explains things very thoroughly if needed and provides helpful guides for his students.
16. Willimantic Records
Address: Bliss Marketplace, 34 North St, Willimantic, CT 06226 , Storrs , Connecticut , United States
World music lovers!!! Willimantic Records in Willimantic, CT is heaven.
Tons of really great, and tons of really rare, Middle Eastern, Indian, North African, etc, etc, etc music. Really there are gems from all genres and ages and places. It’s a very special place. I wish I could have taken home about half the store, or maybe that I could just “work” there for a week or three straight (for free? I will totally volunteer to do whatever?) so I could begin to listen to even a small portion of all the awesomeness that they have there.
Large selection of vinyl, CDs, and cassettes. Average prices, it is located in a strip mall. Easy to miss, there are several other stores. Fluff and Fold sign is closer to street.
For a neighborhood record store, not bad! Definitely small, but a few gems pop up here and there. The atmosphere was cozier at the old place, but Bliss marketplace suits it. Hopefully it will come back to its former glory once the pandemic is over.
Reopen in the Bliss market. He has lp,cd and shirts. Great selection of used.
Worst Record Store in CT hands down! walked in and the first thing I see and hear is somebody purposely playing the clarinet terribly, followed by somebody putting an object in a metal bowl and than moving it around making this terrible scraping sound. I have autism and sensory issues, which really bugged me when looking through their CDs, which brings me to another thing. terrible selection of vinyl’s and CDs with nothing appealing whatsoever, the awful “music” makers and people spectating were in the way of parts of the Vynil/CD collection too, making it difficult to see what they had. 0/10 would not recommend to anybody
Drove 45 minuets for the owner to tell me I didn’t think you would actually come I thought I told not too. When in reality he said they range from.05¢ to 200$ making me think I might leave with 20 or 30 bucks but no. He offered me 10$ for over 300 records.
17. Eminence Ink Storrs
Address: 1232 Storrs Rd, Storrs, CT 06268 , Storrs , Connecticut , United States
This place was wonderful! The artist (Camacho) was very kind and they were able to give me an appointment within the day. The place is super clean and it’s clear that every artist is capable of awesome work. I got a small teapot tattoo in a fine line style and it came out just how I wanted. The price was also great! I highly recommend this place.
I had such a great first tattoo experience here! The staff was so friendly and my tattoo artist, Loop, was the absolute best. She was very re-assuring throughout the whole process considering my first tattoo placement was across the left side of my ribs and constantly made sure I was comfortable. She absolutely nailed the lettering that I wanted, which was specifically in my handwriting. Eminence Ink in Storrs will definitely be seeing again and special shoutout to Loop!
I cannot extoll the virtues of Angela enough. She did mine and my friends first tattoos, and has set the standard impossibly high for any other tattoo artist i work with- though it is unlikely I’ll work with anyone other than her. She made me super comfortable and gave fantastic advice on the tattoo placement and design, and it is just so clear she cares about you and your experience. And above all the tattoo is beautiful, precise, and something I’m so happy to look at forever. Thank you!
Not a very professional or trustworthy space.
5 stars for piercings. They’re the cheapest and best around storrs. For tattoos, they’re way overpriced.
WARNING.
I got two piercings about a month ago and now I have a huge infection on both my nose and belly button (the two areas that were pierced). The infection stemmed from an allergic reaction I had to the metals they used for the piercing. Therefore if you are sensitive to metals I highly recommend that you do not use the jewelry they give you!
Trust me you don’t want this infection.
Called weeks in advance to make appointments for a group piercings and was told appointments aren’t necessary, and that we could walk in for a confirmed date. We all arrive and are told the piercer is not in the store.
This shop was very nice and clean which is always a good thing when it comes to stuff like this, but the prices are insane, they didn’t tell me an estimated amount before hand, maybe that’s because i called two hours before coming in but they had a photo of the design i wanted for my tattoo. All the people in the shop were very kind and fun to talk to. I got a simple band on my arm and i assumed i would get charged 100 without tax and a tip but ended up being charged 170 with tax and without a tip. Of course i did tip because she did a good job but overall i feel it is overpriced for the work i got, the art i got on me was very simple and I’m a bit bummed that it was so much.
18. Gallery Recording Studio
Address: 8 Meadow Trail, Coventry, CT 06238 , Storrs , Connecticut , United States
They can transfer any media on tape or film to a DVD printed with graphics and titles. Very nice finished product with a personal touch. On-site videography for your event, video editing and full production services. Highly recommended.
I recently contacted Doug to inquire about a project I was interested in starting. Fifty years ago this September my buddy and I recorded a record album at his studio which at the time was in East Hartford. I was 17 and my buddy Rich was 16 at the time. We were interested in remastering the album and converting it to CD for it’s 50th anniversary. Doug took on the project and did a fantastic job ! It meant so much to have the man involved in the original recording help us out 50 years later. I recommend Doug highly to do audio and video projects. He is so kind, professional and just a pleasure to work with. Thank you Doug for still being there when we needed you !!
Doug is a good guy to work with.
19. Music & Arts
Address: 378 Kelly Rd, Vernon, CT 06066 , Storrs , Connecticut , United States
The Vernon Music and Arts store always has exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Connor and the guitar teacher I spoke to were extremely helpful and friendly. Great customer service with my brand new Mandolin which I am looking forward to playing for many years to come!
Went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago with my teen daughter to purchase a violin. The customer service we received was top notch. We were treated so well and able to purchase a violin. I can’t remember his name, but the employee answered all of our questions and helped us to pick out the right shoulder strap for our budget and experience level.
He told us she could take violin lessons at the store on Wednesdays which was pretty cool and unexpected. My daughter signed up for a few lessons and had her first one with the instructor, Kaitlyn, yesterday. She loved the experience and said Kaitlyn was incredibly patient and helped her to feel at ease. I would highly recommend this store based on our customer service experience.
Small space but with limited music supply stores in the area it’s good to see places like this still up
They don’t seem to have the music inventory that they once had but the guy who helped me was super affable and helpful.
I had a dispute regarding an instrument repair. The tech did a great job with the repair, but there was a miscommunication with the store concerning the scope of work to be performed. Jed Weeks at corporate resolved the issue with speed and grace.
The in-store representatives are great and nice. But I am very much disappointed with the customer service representative and the supervisors. All of them showed rude behavior. I signed up for 10 months contract and during Covid situation there was delay in returning the instrument to the store at the end of contract period. But Music and Arts still charged me for 2 months on higher cost. Way above my 10 months contract. When I called the customer service, they were very rude and not showing any flexibility and care for customers. I wanted to do business with them for the next school year. But with these behaviors I will NEVER do business with them. I could not find anything lower than 1 star rating…
All they need is customers’ money… No care for customers… even in this COVID situations…
