I really liked doing business with them, it was fast and easy to pick out the furniture we wanted and then paying for it and getting it delivered was just as easy. I would buy from them again.
Have been doing business there for years. Always very knowledgeable, and willing to accommodate your needs. Top quality people and top quality merchandise.
Family owned. They have always worked with my folks
Love that this is a local store and an icon for the town. Are you still cash only?
3. Chesbro Music Company
Address: 257 N 2nd E, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Sugar City , Idaho , United States
Perfectly located swinging through town for out-of-towner like me. Impromptu mandolin string emergency on vacation and they came through with spare sets! Super friendly and helpful gal at counter (obviously, as a violist). Total thumbs up.
Great customer service. If you can’t find what your looking for on the shelves, just ask. They will do their best to meet all your needs.
This was my first experience walking into a music store and I was very happy with my experience. I described what I wanted and they were able to help me out in every way. Really good deals which is why I continue to go back for what I need. since then, I’ve been to another music store in Rexburg just to see what it was about and quickly realized that I prefer Chesbros.
Changed my review since the management change. I am now the guitar tech at Mike’s Music. The new management is really great and have come sent people to us and we like to refer people to them. Each has their strength and we can help each other. Thanks for the new management. They are doing a great job!
Chesbro has an awesome selection and always has what I am looking for. Their guitar and bass selection is great and the prices are very reasonable.
However, sometimes the staff is a little overwhelming. One of the dudes, Drew or something, is a know it all and somewhat condescending as if his opinion is the correct one. He also tries to convince you to buy other stuff you don’t want and it makes you want to just not buy anything.
I went to find a particular cable, but they didn’t have it. They had cables spread around the store, and seemed to have a lot of brands of the same product, rather than a diverse range of cable types.
I have heard much about this place and was excited to check it out. Was very disappointed with the prices and materials that they had. I wish Rexburg had a guitar center; so until then I guess I’ll just shop here? Unless anyone knows of other music places I could go to? They’re not better than Mike’s Music.
This place is completely mediocre. Seemed overpriced on most of their items. Workers were alright. I wouldn’t recommend going there, you’d be better of at even a pawn shop that sells music equipment.
Honestly I see why there are so many bad reviews.. I came in here the other day and it was just awful. Definitely not even close to as nice as the Chesbros in Idaho Falls. The customer service was bad, I’ve seen better from them before. The guy at the counter acts like a Know-It-All though when it comes to guitars, it’s kind of annoying. Besides that the location is nice and they have great instruments but bad prices!
4. Mike’s Music
Address: 54 E Main St, Rexburg, ID 83440 , Sugar City , Idaho , United States
Keith has been an incredible mentor to me and has given me purpose and direction in my practicing that I didn’t know was possible. One of the coolest people I’ve met and an awesome teacher! Really appreciate this store and everyone in it!
We have absolutely loved Keith as our guitar teacher. He works really well with my daughter who is 10. He makes learning the guitar fun using hit songs rather than the old tired songs like hotcross buns.
Went in to get new strings for the first time, they were very helpful with picking some out for me. They were also able to answer all my other questions. The store is very small, but they still manage to fit plenty of guitars and equipment inside. Definitely coming back when I’m ready for a new guitar.
hello, I want to know if u have in stock the audiointerface BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UMC204HD and how much does it cost?
The best local music store in Rexburg! The owner Brandon is a great guy and knows his stuff. Sometimes the employees can be a hit or miss, like the older lady that works there; seems to always have a negative experience with her. Overall the employees are great people, though.
Although the guitar/bass inventory isn’t the biggest, the focus is to sell brands that give you the best bang for your buck and Mike’s does that phenomenally.
I’ve also had my guitars setup a handful of times and haven’t really had any issues there.
they keep switching up the prices i got a ukulele and the first time i went in apparently it was 10$ just to fix the strings then 20 then 25 and then the last one was 30$
Been in here quite a few times and every time the customer service is non-existent. The people who have been working at the various times I’ve come in have been either talking to a friend on the phone instead of helping customers or very stony and clearly didn’t want to talk to anyone. Their manner was almost rude when asked how their day was going.
The store is local and has some good items and a nice music clearance bin up front, but the lack of customer service and overall feeling in the store (it feels like they don’t want you there when you’re inside looking at stuff) will keep me going to the other music stores in the area.
I bought a Behringer UM2 Adio interface here. It was advertised to work on windows computers. I was unable to use the interface due to a driver compatibility issue. When I came to exchange the interface the next day, I was not given a full refund, but $30 in store credit. That means I lost $20 and tax. I was told this was since it was used, but it didn’t work as advertised with my windows pc. I should not be responsible for a manufacturer error.
Two stars since it’s local and somewhat convenient.
My daughter had Keith as a teacher for a couple months. He really got into the theory of music, and taught a lot of stuff. There was a lot of information in each lesson, but it just didn’t suit my daughter. He goes more into writing your own songs, whereas my daughter just wanted to learn a couple songs, rather than write them. So if you want to be writing music, than Keith might be for you, but if not, I would not advise.
Amazing level of service here. Very knowledgeable and TALENTED! My only complaint is that Richard always wants you to “play us a little tune” after he’s fixed up your instrument and/or you’re trying out a few shoulder rests. Having heard him play in person and over the phone, I don’t dare because it’s too intimidating–and I’ve played for well over 35 years and with two different orchestras…LOL! But, seriously, these folks are wonderful. Richard is so willing to help a violinist with shoulder rest or other issues and is always so kind. He also has a marvelous sense of humor, as do his family. If you play a string instrument, then this is THE place to go.
An amazing shop! I just traded in my old violin and bought a new one. It was an easy process and there were so many discounts! This place combines quality with affordable. Great for College kids looking for something new.
Great violins at great prices! Everyone there is awesome to work with. Love them!

They made sure that everything was correct and that we were satisfied!! Recommend them for anything big or small!! Thanks Mitch!!
These guys are amazing, I needed a hitch built for a motorcycle in a very short time frame for my dads funeral and they made it happen. It turned out amazing and I can’t thank them enough!
Very helpful when it came to making a customize tool for me. I needed a tool modified to create a bead roller and they did it for a very fair price.
8. Howard Instrument Service
Address: 1588 Higley St, St Anthony, ID 83445 , Sugar City , Idaho , United States
I have been using Howard Instrument Service to do all of our instrument repairs, both for customer-owned instruments as well as for our rental pool for almost 2 years now. I have been very pleased with their service. They stand behind their work, and their prices are very competitive. They have most definitely earned my loyalty as the manager of our Rexburg store!
I bought a Yamaha tenor Sax off of ebay that had problems playing low D to low B flat. I took it to a repair shop in Idaho Falls twice but it didn’t help. My brother is a professional musician in Salt Lake, so I took it to his repair person that is very well known. He got it playing better, but D and B were still not right. Then I took it into Donna Howard and she got it playing near perfect with in a half an hour and for a lot less money than the other guys!
They are very helpful, honest, have good prices, and have some very polite cats on the front porch.
