I love this spot so much, I decided to do a Source Talk there. An amazing aroma permeates the shop. It is attuned with all kinds of sense pleasures, in fact. Sight, sound, smell, feel, even taste – as one is provided a cup of tea for the stay of delights. Proprietors Rose and Jack have found the perfect nook in a seaside town, not a single bit of space is wasted. Rose left such a mark on my mind, there’s nothing that could keep me from coming back again and again.
So much peace per cup 🙂
Peaceful…beautiful…enlightening. You must go.
Beautiful gardens, peace and tranquility, what more could you ever want?
Un lugar súper para relajarte y una vibra hermosa
Majitelé vybudovali na pár metrech jiný svět.
The place looked so nice, and beautiful. But what got me was this guy who sits in the front counter who was rude, and being a very stereotypical person about my service dog. (She is a pitbul) and he kept on saying that ‘no pitbuls are dangerous, and they hurt people.’ He was super rude and shouldn’t have his job. I would not recommend any of my friends or family about this place. This place deserves 0 stars. 0/10 horrible
We checked the website before heading up to Sacred Space from Orange County. The site said it would be open at 11:00am Saturday. There were a couple of women there that did not come out and tell us it was closed; they just shut the front door. The gardener informed us it was closed for remodeling.
A really fun store. I don’t always find what fits in my home but I always see so many interesting and fun pieces. Some items seem to be priced a bit high, more than what I would pay for but others are reasonable and even good deals. It’s a treasure hunt! I love it all the way around. The staff is great too.
Things youll never find anywhere else
Always something
Closed at 4pm
Fun place for browsing, but extremely overpriced from our experience. Also, the staff was not very helpful when we were there, but sounds like other people had better experiences, so perhaps that was just a fluke. I prefer shopping at the antique stores in Carpinteria which I’ve found much more reasonable and friendly.
Beautiful place and very assorted. Prices are on the high sides.
rude and not friendly over price
Very disappointed. Help was gererally unknowlegable of many items but the most disappointment came from the poor attitude of the sales attendant
Very very expensive…. almost a joke.

My daughter has been taking violin lessons from Valerie for five years now. Valerie is wonderful — very patient and kind with my daughter (who definitely has her moments!), but also challenging her in technique and musicality and always improving her playing. Valerie is also just a really nice and awesome person in general. We have also loved doing the Suzuki Institute they put on in the summer (I was honestly a little skeptical that my daughter would like doing so much violin, but they made it both fun and a great learning experience). I should also say that I was a “Suzuki child” with a fair amount of musical training myself, so I am super picky about teachers knowing musical technique — and I am really glad we found Valerie and I am really pleased with our experience with her.
Nice little shop. Very helpful.
My son has been taking guitar lessons with David for the last two years and the experience has been perfect. I highly recommend him to any parent looking to teach their kids how to play guitar or violin. A+, What’s great about his service? He’s planted a positive affirmation in our son about playing a musical instrument, so learning is fun for Landon now. He now plays for family, friends and has continued to build his confidence by having an audience. Really Really enjoy working with David.
Supposed to be an open storefront but it was locked up during posted buisness hours. off the street and hard to find. No one picks up the phone.
I walked in to buy strings, and the door was open … suddenly the owner comes out of the back and asks me why I’m in there. I tell him I need guit strings. He tells me he is giving a lesson and can’t help until the lesson is over… seriously. I know exactly what I want, and I can’t believe that he left the door open if he was too busy to take my money!
10. Nick Rail Music
Address: 2801 De La Vina St, Santa Barbara, CA 93105 , Summerland , California , United States
Nick Rail Music is a Santa Barbara institution, and continues to be the best source for instruments and lessons for decades. Both of my sons take lessons (piano & guitar) and their instructor, Bret, is wonderful! They are so supportive and knowledgeable. We are very happy with their services and highly recommend Nick Rail.
Prompt service, reasonable prices, top products, excellent professional advice, friendly courteous staff who knows me by name … what’s not to like?
Took my clarinet to two dealers (closer to me that Nick Rail) – with somewhat lower than $100 in service each. Still had problems. ‘Ross’ at Nick Rail fixed several minor problems and now it works perfectly (to the limit of my ability anyway)!!! Charged me less than 1/3 of what either of the other two charged.
Don’t know if it’s the way to make money, but it’s a great way to run a business from this customer’s view. I’ll go back for my next purchase or repair!
It’s been awhile since I visited Nick Rail Music and I was pleasantly surprised at the layout and selection. Service was super friendly too. A few more electric guitars and accessories and I’ll go five stars. It’s nice to be shopping “small business local” again. NR is literally the only music store available since Instrumental Music left and Jensen curtailed their hours. I’ll be back for certain, maybe even walk out with one of those Taylors…:-)
Professional friendly staff, they fully explained the repair process. Took a bit longer than I wanted but quality repair of my flute.
Friendly staff, could use more electric guitar and bass accessories
Came in to purchase a Yamaha YTR5330MRC trumpet and they did not have it in the store so they told me that they were going to try and get the trumpet for me, so I gave them my phone number cause they had told me that they were going to call me back to tell me if they were able to get it, I waited two weeks and no response and now a month later still nothing. I came all the way from Ventura city to the store all for nothing, they wasted my time, very unprofessional when I entered the store it was slow there were no customers they could of called me the same day but anyways I do not recommend coming to this store very unprofessional.
I was really looking forward to renting a clarinet from this location. Unfortunately, the service was terrible and I decided against it. Try a different music shop or try ordering online.
I was calling to get a price estimate, and when I asked “can I get a price estimate on a drum set” they hung up. I thought this was a music shop. Very rude and disrespectful.
11. Jensen Guitar & Music Co.
Address: 2830 De La Vina St, Santa Barbara, CA 93105 , Summerland , California , United States
So grateful to have met Mike. My young son has been taking guitar lessons with Mike for months now and he has grown in so many ways. Mike is an amazing guitar teacher and down to earth human being. Highly recommend taking guitar lessons with Mike!
Always a pleasure. Chris is the best! Just a real deal instrument store.
Cool place, cool people. You can trust them with your repairs, have the day to day stuff you need and can order whatever else. Some nice used gear… I only wish their electric instrument and amp section was larger! Give them a visit.
My wife bought me a used Antonio Hermosa AH-10 classical guitar from Jensens for Christmas. They sold it to her for $300. I can’t find one on the Internet for more than $200. Yes, she should have researched before she purchased…and NO, she should not have trusted Jensens to give her an honest price.
BE ADVISED!!! The phone number that is listed for Jenson’s Guitars is NOT their phone number but rather it is my home phone number and I am absolutely sick and tired of getting a couple dozen phone calls for these people who obviously don’t care about the deflected business. To be clear I have never been there and have no idea as to the in store service experience and thus the lowest rating only concerns the phone number dilemma.
Never got back to me about my setup being done, left tiny metal shavings stuck to the pickups and all over the body and neck. Had to take the pickguard off to clean it all. Didn’t set intonation, didn’t make note of my preference for action height. I’d expect more from a professional setup. That said, the neck does feel better, but the service and care for the instrument was disappointing.

Awesome place and great atmosphere for musical studies and learning. Gus is the man, his musical understanding and tutoring is top level. The best.
These guys are great! The studio is awesome for anything you need to record. They do lessons for beginners to experts and I have heard nothing but the best!
We absolutely love Detar Music and the great music teachers there. My son Connor has been taking piano lessons from Daniel Bagdazian for almost a year and he loves it. We all look forward to his lesson each week. Daniel is always positive and encouraging with Connor. We are grateful to have found such a supportive and fun music studio. I have recommended them to friends who are also happy there. 🙂
its such a nice clean little place. very well organized. you really should stop here if you’re visiting carpinteria.
A treasure trove of vinyl. A great selection and a highly knowledgeable and friendly owner in Kevin Murphy. If you are into vinyl you really should visit Murphy’s Vinyl Shack.
Honestly one of the best stores in carp. I adore the owner, i stopped by to get a mamas and papas vinyl as well as a gerry refferty vinyl. The owner was so knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. Feels like you are talking to a friend. Would absolutely recommend this place!
Fun small shop, lots of great condition vinyl, you’re just going to pay a little on the higher end for it. Pleasant owner as well. If you’re in the area and want to flip through some high-quality records, definitely stop by, just be prepared to walk out empty-handed if needed.
The owner is very nice.
Okay place to browse overpriced used vinyl. Salzers in Ventura would be a much better bet, but if you’re visiting the beach at Carp and don’t plan to head to Ventura, you might find something you want here.
I stopped by today (Tuesday) at 2pm the door was locked, apparently the store was closed. Oh well !
Kevin was a delight to work with and his music accompanying our ceremony was so special. My wife Ashley and I asked Kevin if he could learn to play a few songs that are important to us. Kevin sent us samples of the songs before hand, and they were perfect!
Kevin, thank you so much for being a part of our Wedding. You and your music added to our day!
Kevin is a great pianist, lovely person and great with people
Kevin played for My Christmas party this year and all I can say is HIRE HIM. Professional, exceptionally talented on his own AND as an accompanist. He took my Christmas party from amazing to Spectacular and I will definitely be hiring him again in the future.
17. Santa Barbara String Quartet
Address: 734 Westmont Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93108 , Summerland , California , United States
We were in contact with Emily Sommermann who set us up with two amazing violinists for our wedding ceremony (at Elings Park) and cocktail hour (at Wine Cask) a few weeks ago! The violin was a perfect touch to both and we are so happy we thought of this. We were able to pick our songs and they are able to accommodate (chose them all for ceremony and only a few for cocktail hour – the rest was just within our general guidelines). We would definitely recommend to others in the area if they are looking for something a little different but simply beautiful!
The Santa Barbara String Quartet was an absolutely wonderful part our our outdoor wedding ceremony in Santa Barbara! Their music was beautifully played, and was such a unique and memorable part of our special day. We received so many compliments from our guests, friends, and family for their musical talent. They played a modern playlist we had requested, with incorporations of classical music for the processional. Seating music was Enya, Processional was Pachelbel’s Canon in D, and my Bridal walk was “Halo” by Beyoncé, which sounded phenomenal and was a crowd hit! Our recessional was Smashing Pumpkin’s “Today,” which was an amazing rendition. I had requested they play Zelda’s main theme into the ensemble during guest arrival, which was a surprise for my husband who is a huge fan, and he and many more guests (and gaming nerds) were so excited to hear that played by string quartet!
Emily was so easy to work with and very communicative and friendly! We were beyond happy to have their music play at our wedding, and would highly recommend them to anyone interested in incorporating tasteful, live modern and classical music to their celebration! Thank you again for such a truly fun and memorable ceremony! – Allie & Ben
If you are planning a wedding in the Central Coast of California and you envision an elegant walk down the aisle for you and your attendants, contact Emily Sommermann of the Santa Barbara String Quartet. The Quartet played for our daughter’s outdoor wedding ceremony at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum in May 2018, and their sublime music set the tone for the rest of the beautiful day. The Bride and Groom chose classical pieces that had special meaning for them and their families, and the Quartet performed each of them flawlessly. As well as an extensive list of classical selections, their repertoire includes popular songs, show tunes, jazz pieces, ethnic songs, and even Disney movie theme songs.
We did not need much guidance in our selection of music since the grandmother of the Bride is a classically-trained organist, and we knew the music we wanted, but Emily is willing and available to offer advice to Brides and Grooms. She was lovely to work with and attentive to details. We were planning a West Coast Wedding from the East Coast, and despite the fact that we did not meet until the day of, there were no “jitters” or concerns that the music would not be perfect.
So, while you may be focused on The Venue, The Dress, and The Reception, don’t treat The Ceremony Music for your Grand Entrance as an afterthought. Book the Santa Barbara String Quartet now!

Friendly staff and good little selection of guitar stuff
Great record store with miscellaneous other things for sale, they also buy and sell some collectibles, if you like hotwheels they have a great old school hotwheels collection in the back.
I first visited here to sell a couple records. I was very pleased with experience. The place looks great. Will have to visit again soon to check out their stock.
Nice place to shop and hang out the owner.
Found some good records, reasonably priced. Needs easier way to search the lower shelves.
Could use a little dusting
This place is mostly a rip off trying to make money off college kids looking for records. I literally walked in and the owner was talking to a customer/friend about ripping off students from UCSB. Anything worth getting is marked up to anywhere from $75-$100. For a record?? Half of them are cheap bootlegs being sold for $100. One time I tried asking if an album I was looking at was an original print (knowing it wasn’t) and the owner swore it was the real thing. Wasn’t even remotely close to the real packaging. Anything found in there can be found much cheaper with a little research. Beware

We rent a rehearsal studio here monthly and really enjoy it. It’s one of the few spots in town that has rehearsal space for reasonable rates. It has air conditioning, and a drum set, mics, and a bass amp ready to go. 10/10 would recommend
First time here. Had a great experience. Super friendly and professional. I’ll be sure to be back again and again.
Had a great time there, Andrew was very knowledgeable and helpful and the studio was cozy with plenty of equipment.
