Best place in South GA, they did some repairs on my grandfather’s 1980 ibenez guitar and just all round great job, best people to do business with when it comes to guitars and other musical needs
Great guys. Stopped in off the interstate and they fixed up some minor issues with my steel guitar, no charge. So helpful and friendly that I bought some things anyway.
Great folks and they are straight up about things.
This is a nice locally owned music store. Very good selection of guitars and other musical instruments. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Stop by and support a small business!
Cool
4. Vintage Musical Instruments
Address: 42 Public Square S, Dahlonega, GA 30533 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
John has been very helpful and has increases my knowledge tenfold. I live in British Columbia, Canada, and will happily continue to do business with John. John takes the necessary time needed to ensure you know what you need and that you get it. That’s a service you don’t see at many big box stores.
Friendliest people around
Great shop. Beautiful instruments and some great sounding guitars and folk instruments. The custom made electric guitars are one of a kind. Hope to go back
I was disappointed with the repair work done on my guitar. It wasn’t a horrible job but it wasn’t a good job either.
The luthier wasn’t able to polish the frets because they didn’t have any high grit sandpaper so, I had to “polish” the frets with my strings from play wear and now my frets are “polished” very unevenly.
He seemed to do an okay job with the fret leveling and crowning but there are still some noticeable corners on about half of the fret edges and especially on the higher frets where people usually don’t play. (You can tell how he had it laid on the table because one side is relatively smooth and the other looks like it barely got any attention along with the nut which is just as sharp as before)
He also got multiple dings and scratches on my guitar neck. Which I personally don’t mind on the specific guitar I sent in, but I would be quite irritated if it happened to a higher end guitar. (It’s named ‘Rawhide’ which explains the guitar well)
So, pretty much I paid for an incomplete job where if I had the proper tools I could have done it myself and probably much better.
I’m not trying to start anything and I don’t want to get the Luthier in trouble, I just want to see quality work from the Luthier so *if* I ever bring in a higher end guitar I won’t have to sleep in fear worrying about possible damage.
My recommendation for the Luthier is if someone pays you to level, crown and polish frets, make sure you have ALL of the necessary tools and really take the time to do a good job on ALL of the frets. Also make sure to keep the guitar safe in the process.
If I had known what to expect for what I paid for, I would have pressed the Luthier to finish the job, but at the time I didn’t know what high quality frets were like.
Lastly, on an unrelated topic that really goes to personal preference, they require masks to enter the store, no exceptions. I don’t support being muzzled for a virus with a 99%+ survival rate and even 95%+ if you’re over the age of 70, where it’s so “deadly” you require a medical test just to see if you have it, and asymptomatic spread has been proven to be extremely rare, if not just another myth to keep us living in fear.
But to each their own.
I’m very disappointed in this “business” we had taken a family heirloom to him to be repaired, he said it would take two weeks. Hey, great you got a deal. Let’s go ahead and pay for it so you will have the money on hand to pay for the parts and your time. Three weeks later we have to call and the guitar still isn’t finished. Four weeks later we call once again it’s still not done. I go to the “business” to see if it’s even been touched, and low and behold it had not. He had already told us that sales from other people come first with it being around the holidays. Wait wait so a sale that was already made gets placed last?! That was my daughter’s Christmas present as well to hear the guitar play once again that her papa had gave to her 10 years ago, then he pasted away. I will never trust this place again repairs or to buy from!
Went to store this morning at ten after 11 and no one was there.
5. All Star Music Center
Address: 3981 Athens Hwy, Loganville, GA 30052 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Great prices, and the owner was super nice and friendly helping my get what i wanted
Been dealing with this bloke for years, will continue 2 do so..
I’m sorry I did not take pictures of the inside, but this place gets the best reviews just because if their awesome costumer service.
I am so happy I found this place. I came in to get my guitar fix and I was taken care so well.
John is always really helpful but the other guy gives the cold shoulder alot of the time. Overall though, great store.
Guy running the store was very helpful and knowlegable.
Tienda pequena pero buen servicio
I’ve been here 3 times during store hours. nobody at the store go to another shop.
Place needs to just close! doubt me, go see what I’m talking about.
Literally 4:08pm on a Saturday I show up. They were not open. Sign on the door says 10am-6pm. Very disappointed.
6. Ponce De Leon Music Center
Address: 1060 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Always helpful staff during my few visits to repair an instrument.
Nice and honest staff and ownership. Knowledgeable with a true desire to earn your business.
Really cool local shop with a great selection of new and used gear. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable when approached. I was impressed with the selection of used instruments on hand when I walked in. Well worth checking out.
Staff was nice and knowledgeable. Pricing was a bit high but id do business there again.
Great Store
They did a good job repairing my son’s guitar and were very nice. However, since that last visit, i have called twice looking for audio equipment and have been told twice that the equipment I need doesn’t and cannot exist. The problem is that while I am on the phone, the equipment is in my hand or in front of me and does in fact exist. Its just worn out and I need a new piece. I am trying to save myself a thirty minute drive to a different music store who always have my parts. Please, please just spare me the lecture and just say sorry, we don’t have that in stock.
The customer service is awful I definitely won’t be back there every again
Had to make a quick stop to grab a few things. I know it was closing time. I was trying to make it quick. When they started harassing my husband reminding him when they close he left and we took our business somewhere else. Customers want to feel welcomed, not reminded how unfortunate you are to have to lock the door right at 5:00.
7. Attina’s Music Store Inc
Address: 155 Jonesboro Rd, McDonough, GA 30253 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Went to the store to have an instrument cleaned. The staff was amazing. They were extremely helpful and friendly. Better yet they were very quick to complete the service we needed. I would recommend the store to anyone looking for a music store.
Great service
Been coming here since I was a child. Always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Every few years when I get nostalgic for my high school music days, I’ll come get an instrument repaired or get a lesson book to mess around with. They answer my random questions with care. This store is timeless and magical, like that hogwarts wand shop vibes or something. Good vibes.
They were friendly, but we kinda felt they were stand offish because my husband was asking all kinds of questions and we kinda felt that they was tired of being asked the many questions that my husband asked. They had a low selection of items and we felt that we was being pushed out of the store because he asked us a few times if we was ready to check out. So after a few times of being asked we checked out and left. Not sure if we will be going back or if we will make the hour trip to Fayetteville for all of our needs.
8. Town Center Music
Address: 4072 Suwanee Dam Rd NW, Suwanee, GA 30024 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Julian was very helpful. My son was in heaven hanging out for a few and trying out a new bass and some pedals. Will definitely be going back in the future!
My experience was great.I love the store. The associates who work there were very nice and professional. The equipment is top notch!
I popped in one day a few months back trying to find a set of oddball bass strings the 2 guys were really cool and a know there stuff. They WANNA be of help but not hounding you
Much better store I not been here in a while the past manager was not a music guy or a manger known as a air head I will be back
Good
Taught my kids to play guitar
Went in there a couple days ago. Not a huge fan. Workers aren’t very pleasant people and they come up to you every 10 minutes kind of giving you the hint to leave if you’re not gonna buy anything like you’re in there too long.
Great for beginners I guess. Don’t come in here expecting higher quality equipment and experience. Name of their game is to hook beginners onto cheap equipment (which is totally fine) and get you out. No hanging out in there jamming for an extended time.
Maybe I came in on a bad day.
Not where u want to shop you find poorly trained staff and not music people I shopped here off and on for years . just not good pepole
Store is dirty poor selection not real big
9. Rockys Music
Address: 113 Front St, Sylvester, GA 31791 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Rocky is from the old school, but he is with the times. He offers competitive pricing, a large selection of items he can get quick, and he knows his stuff. He is very efficient and skilled in modifying, repairing and setting up guitars and basses.
He has always seemed as honest as the day is long and in my decades of knowing him, I have never experienced anything on the contrary. I highly recommend this place!
Great store, nice people.
Do not in fact open at 10.
10. Attina’s Music Store Inc.
Address: 378 Glynn St N, Fayetteville, GA 30214 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Very willing to help find items and accessories. Private instructors are very good.
Great service.
I think the owner was very nice he helped me find the right saxophone and he helped me dodge a off brand one
Less freedom then other music stores of the top of my head how about ” guitar center” which if you google it you will find it is
no-less then 10-11 drive which is not such a bad thing when they actually allow you to pick up the instruments but besides that IT IS JUST OK IF THAT’S WHAT YOU. LIKE.
Good customer service. Not a lot of music choices, but I was able to find a Rubank methods book.
Great experience and the employees with was super friendly
Guy was on phone the whole time…and we waited. Not sure this is the norm but it was my one and only visit
Expensive, great variety
It was obvious that my presence was causing discomfort to the manager/cashier/whatever. I was not allowed to play a certain Epiphone Les Paul (not even a Gibson) because ‘they wanted to keep it clean’. I am a frikin professional guitarist with 11 years of experience and no music stores have ever denied me of handling an instrument. Highly offending for a first time visitor’s impression.
Go to Guitar Center and avoid this place, you’ll be glad you did.
I looked around for months and decided to buy from Augusta Music Box.The prices were the best in the area, delivery was quick, and everyone was professional. Nathan is very welcoming, non-judgmental, and knowledgeable about all things piano (including where to get lessons because you may or may not have been practicing over the years ); so don’t be afraid to ask questions!! 10/10 would recommend!
Excellent! Highly recommend.
Augusta Music Box was wonderful to work with. I inherited my grandmother’s piano which had not been serviced in over 30 years and sounded horrible. Nathan walked me through all that needed to be done to the piano so that it could at least sound like a piano. He was so professional. The best part was after 4 hours of working, I heard the most beautiful sound come from the piano and it beckoned my entire home downstairs-including my two teenage sons. So happy I called AMB!
12. Hootenanny’s Music
Address: 572 Maddox Dr, East Ellijay, GA 30540 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Decent selection. Very nice staff encourages playing the instruments. They might even jam with you. Cool place overall!
I’m glad there’s a music Store now here in Ellijay,GA. The music store has what I need, plus the store workers are friendly. I also love their music get togethers on Saturdays.
Fun music jam!
Went here purely to find an acoustic to put my fingers on while I was on vacation… had 3 electrics because I’m recording on the way back home… but wanted an acoustix… but tbh I had a hard time finding something I could justify. I was looking for a throwaway type instrument but one that didn’t lose intonation when fretting an 11th fret for example, due to string action. Found one I almost bought but decided not to… the only section I was semi into was the very few in the back right side of the building where there was a strat, tele, LP (cant Remember), Martin acoustic….all of which were appropriately priced. None of which were at such a deal I just had to get it… was easy to walk away.
They’ve got a good selection of drums, guitars & other musical instruments & they even buy used instruments!!
13. Canton Music Shoppe
Address: 149 Reinhardt College Pkwy #11, Canton, GA 30114 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Took my Strat in for a much needed setup, the new owner Brennan knocked it out and addressed a couple unlevel frets, all for a price I thought was very reasonably. My guitar plays and looks great! I’ll definitely be taking my other guitars in for setups in the future!
Knowledgeable and friendly service. Got some electronics work done by Brennan and I’m very happy with the results
Great staff. Very friendly. Prices were great!
Customer service said it all as I walked out and heard the guy comment to another store employee that people who can’t play will blame the guitar. If my playing was the problem, he could have been the solution in helping me figure that out instead of being snide, patronizing and rude, or at least he could have waited until I was gone. Needless to say, this long time customer will go elsewhere in the future. UPDATE: I went to Guitar Center in Kennesaw where my son and I were listened to and treated respectfully. We were thoroughly assisted with patience and great advice; bought a new guitar and perfect traveling case. Will definitely continue to shop there even though it’s a bit of a drive.
Had a bad experience shopping and selling here. I felt as if I was in trouble or under pressure the entire time. Both times visiting I regretting going. I prefer the smaller guitar store down the street…
The entire experience there is subpar. First, it has absolutely no character. Everything is very sterile and impersonal. Maybe it’s a personal preference, but I prefer a bit of an offbeat feeling in music stores. Second, I understand you wouldn’t carry instruments or other big ticket items for lefties, but picks (banjo – thumb) are dirt cheap and keeping a bag of them around shouldn’t be an imposition. Your function is to sell that sort of thing. The goal is to always be able to say, yes I have that. Third, and most importantly, the people who run it are just awful at dealing with the public. As some have said, they do comment on customers behind their backs. I have had this same complaint from people I know personally. I’m 50 and clean cut. The older guy literally followed me around the store when I visited (you can view 99.9% of the place from the counter), as if he was selling diamonds and I was going to shove them in my pockets. All in all, there are better places and better folks to deal with than these.
14. Big Frog Music Co
Address: 577 E Main St # A, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Old fashioned music store with vinyl, CD’s, shirts, posters, etc…very nice!
Love this store, my daughter found some good LPs for her collection, good memories since I did work in a record store in the 80s.
Cool place to find very awesome music – a walk down memory lane!
As a visitor to the mountain region of Georgia I enjoyed a stroll along Main Street in Blue Ridge including a visit to Big Frog Music. I explained to the proprietor that as an Englishman I would like some recommendations for bluegrass music. He was more than friendly and helpful playing examples of suggested albums. I bought a Lonesome River Band cd and have enjoyed it ever since.
Had a decent selection of vinyls to choose from and a very nice worker that helped us choose our music! It was almost all classic rock though so more variety would have been nice.
I don’t really buy a lot of music in physical form these days, but they had a great selection of records and some awesome decor stuff. The staff was really cool too.
The cds and vinyl are way overpriced. Save your money and avoid this store.
Horrible experience! Man behind counter was very unprofessional. I will never go back!
Call before you try and go, the hours are somewhat nebulous
15. Firehouse Guitars & Music
Address: 612 Medlock Rd, Decatur, GA 30033 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Bought my Yamaha acoustic there last week, the guy working was friendly and helpful and the guitar plays great. Prices were in line with everywhere else seems like. I’ve been in guitar center and half the guitars on the wall are set up so badly they’re unplayable. Happy to support a local business over them. Will probably be back to buy an electric soon.
Friendly and helped me out on a bulk purchase with the price 🙂
Great local music store. Pete was super helpful in picking out new gear.
This is a pretty good little store. I bought my guitar and amp here
Rip off.go elsewhere. I use to really like bringing my daughter here but they must be under new management. Prices have gotten ridiculous!!!
16. String Theory Music
Address: 204 W 4th St, Adel, GA 31620 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
The best music store I’ve seen. Great selection of instruments including beautiful guitars and all the accessories you could want. Bought a very nice guitar stand and had my first guitar lesson (it was fantastic!). Looking forward to my lessons each week. Great teacher.
Awesome place and the owner was super nice and helpful. He was upfront and honest. Didn’t try to oversell or hustle me into buying something I didn’t need. Offered lessons and gave me some wonderful and helpful info. Very excited to work with this music store and support a local business and not a big brand store.
Had to replace my banjo strings while traveling through georgia. Stopped here being it was the closest place, but glad I stopped in. Very friendly folk
I just dropped off my daughters trumpet for a stuck valve. I was promptly greeted with a friendly smile. When I get the horn back I will up date my review.
It’s pretty cool. Like the people there.
Neat little music shop with some quality products. Not a huge selection, but they have what you need.
If you are into electric guitars, the selection is very limited, and even the ones in stock had problems.
19. Taliaferro County
Address: Georgia , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
20. Molly’s Food and Fuel
Address: 113 Hilley Rd, Crawfordville, GA 30631 , Taliaferro County , Georgia , United States
Great stop! Offers quite a lot of things. Gas, food and great things for your pets. If you are in the area definitely stop and see for yourself.
Great place to stop to stretch your legs and refuel.
The fried chicken is delicious!!
Just a suggestion: I paid $8 for 2 legs and 2 wings. If there’s a way to juggle the chicken price down to $1.50, you’re going to put KFC on notice.
Nice little stop off the interstate.
Walk up barbecue restaurant with rustic exterior decor conveniently located next to marathon gas station. The menu had several good selections I had a pretty good barbecue sandwich and sausage
Wanted to purchase two pieces of chicken this afternoon but evidently you have to wait till the entire spread is laid out before they will help you rang the bell twice three worker setting out food could not stop long enough to give me two pieces of chicken always had a good experience here except for today aft taking time to get off the interstate and go to Mollys for the food.
Well been 3 days and no response from owner. I guess I was wrong for thinking HE reads the reviews.
$5 for a burger that didn’t even taste like a burger. First and last time stopping here for food.
No hot food – lottery tickets were “closed” for this shift- gas was higher than advertised left with nothing but a rr break- restrooms were clean
