Did an excellent job repairing my daughter’s clarinet. Dropped off and picked up same day. Friendly professional staff, all around wonderful experience.
Great music shop. Long experienced and knowledgeable staff!
Good store not staffed very well so plan on spending some time. Other than that Good inventory
Great selection cool people very knowledgeable!
I went in looking for some specifics, I had my own guitar with me, THAT I BOUGHT FROM THEIR PEORIA STORE, possibly to upgrade. Played a few guitars (with no amp, because who needs an amp when shopping guitars) to give them sometime to at least acknowledge my presence… no luck, so I stood at the counter where I could see the manager sitting and talking with sime dude about nothing… for about 5 minutes before I said screw it… never coming back to this location ever…. I’ve bought a total of 3 guitars and my father bought 4 and with guitar-mart on their assess, I’d think they’d try harder
Very rude, couldn’t have had a worst experience! And that was the owner acting in a mega unprofessional manner! Don’t waste your time, go anywhere but here.
I needed a set of strings last minute and stopped in to the closest place and they tried to charge me 21$!!!! I get these same strings for 6$ everywhere else. I told him no way and he knocked it down immediately to 16?? He said they were on sale… Which he failed to mention when he told me the price initially. Total rip off. Always rude and I hate having to go there.
3. Five pound bass co
Address: 107 Leopold St, Mackinaw, IL 61755 , Tazewell County , Illinois , United States
The first time I picked up one of these when I met Stumpy Joe at a friends house, I had never played a string instrument in my life. Shoulda got a video, but I actually played a song on the first go! I am now a proud owner of TWO Stumpy Bass guitars. Had the original color first. Then I think I surprised my hubs with how fun it is to hear me jam, so he surprised me with a purple one!! I highly recommend this for beginners, or pros!!! ✌
Awsome company! The creator of the
“5 Pound Bass” Stumpy Joe is connected with his buyers and is a bunch of fun to play music with.
I heard and played the Five Pound Bass at NAMM 2019 in Nashville. Nice sound and cool esthetic in a compact package at a popular price.
4. Joshs Guitar Shop
Address: 1502 N 8th St, Pekin, IL 61554 , Tazewell County , Illinois , United States
Great Lessons and had a guitar set up here. Excellent work.
Josh is quite the guitar tech, when it comes to repairs of accoustic & electric guitars, bass guitars, etc. he is spot on.
His background, knowledge, and endured time with in music buisness and sound make him a definitive gold standard.
Josh and Daimien are as friendly and down to earth. Treated this hobby player with the same consideration as a gigging musician. Rewired my guitar and dropped a push/pull pot in and didn’t charge an arm and a leg. Will patronize again.
Went there to get my guitar because I got no updates on the guitar and they took the pickgaurd off of my vintage 1953 SJ200 Gibson acoustic without me knowing and broke off a piece of binding around the sound hole. Then when I was gonna restring the instrument they couldn’t find my bridge pins which are original to the guitar. Ill give them this they got rid of the main rattle of the guitar but I was expecting some extra caution and care for taking in such an instrument.
Overall: Very Disorganized, Unprofessional service…
5. Rock of Ages

Tequila or not..
Nice place to just hang out and talk with people about music or life. I stopped in when I was in the area and happened to meet Victor and his buddy. No pressure to buy, reasonable prices, and extensive equipment for all skill levels. If you are in the area definitely stop in.
By far the best guitar shop in Peoria.
these guys are the best
Nice music store.
It was awesome na Kevin Gray Is such a good drum teacher
Pros: I just moved here and was told by a guitar center employee that Flores music down the road has the best guy around to diagnose a problem I have with my very expensive guitar. Three shops had tried and failed at this point. I wish I could remember the technicians name; it started with a “j” I know, he takes one look at the guitar and checks a couple things. He then tells me that the problem is easily fixed. I tell him I’ve heard that before. But while I waited he fixed the buzzing problem and even corrected a couple other things that were bad. I’ve never had a guitar play this well ever! The con is when I was done thanking the savior of my taylor guitar a man from the store got mad at me for peeking my head in the shop to talk to the technician who I am trusting with my guitar. Sorry Flores music for bothering you with my business. Great repairs and lousy customer relations.
Last year my son was supposed to be getting a pretty nice Fender Telecaster, which they said would be held on to for us until we saved up enough money for it. However, they ended up selling it to someone else. I will never step foot in this store again.
I have bought $1,000’s worth of stuff from this place. I always have felt like I had been treated fairly and given a good deal. I have even taken some of my stuff in to have it repaired and cleaned. I bought a fantastic pair of speakers no one has heard of and that have a goofy connection on the back. I went in and spoke with them about it and decided to try banana plugs. I was under the impression that if it didn’t work I could bring it back in and return it. So my wife stops in with the original receipt and in the original packaging (unopened) and they refuse to give our money back. In store credit is all I can get. It’s terrible business practice and I should have been told up front that they would not except the return, especially since I had been talking to them about what I was doing. I will from now on do my business elsewhere.
Do not visit if you have brown skin. Clearly has a preference for whites only…. cannot believe this place and the racist service exists in 2014!!! Had a horrible experience. They would rather not serve me or take my money….. beware black and brown people of Peoria!!!
14. Kidder Music
Address: 7728 N Crestline Dr, Peoria, IL 61615 , Tazewell County , Illinois , United States
My son had the chance to be the “manager” of this store in a Peoria a few years back. It was such a great experience. We were given the grand tour and even took some wonderful pictures. The staff was very welcoming and I even found some sheet music for an audition for a reasonable price. They even offer voice lessons. I hope to stop by again soon.
I recently ordered a ton of sheet music for a festival. Every time I called Kidder Music, I was greeted in a pleasant and professional manner. Jamie, the Print Music Manager, was extremely patient with my many questions, calls, and orders. I appreciated his excellent communication and willingness to go the extra mile to make sure I had the music in time.
Staff is always eager to help
Friendly staff and had just what I was looking for
Friendly and helpful staff!
The store is pretty good. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They take the time to help you find what you are looking for, whether it’s sheet music, instruments, or accessories. They also offer lessons with some great teachers.
Have issues taking money off cards don’t say why just say sorry we can’t help
15. Guitar Center
Address: 2601 W Lake Ave, Peoria, IL 61615 , Tazewell County , Illinois , United States
Some of the nicest young people I ever come across. Wish McDonald’s was this nice. Even with a bad experience to no fault of their own I can’t complain about anything except the self entitled customers that give them a hard time and get in my way of trying to check equipment out and correct a situation
Always amazing service, love this place
The Peoria Guitar Center staff has always been very helpful when assisting with equipment or placing special orders. Morgan even greets me by name when I enter. They have a good selection of equipment for town this size and can order many other items. The return policy gives me confidence in my purchases.
Love my new ukulele. Didn’t like that a salesperson said hi to us as we entered, then another guy was helping us in the guitar room and as we went to the register with him, guy #1 who had said hi earlier basically told guy #2 who helped us that it was his sale because he talked to us first. That was garbage.
Always seem to have a problem getting someone to help me find things. If you’re not a hipster looking guitar guy they tend to ignore you.
Ok.
I will never go back to this place. Rude employee.
All the workers suck. I know what i use stop trying to change me..
Drove over an hour and a half to this particular store to buy a specific Les Paul, I get there and no one could be troubled to help us. Stood around waiting for 15 minutes before leaving to drive to a different store.
16. Flores Guitar House
Address: 6307 N Post Oak Rd, Peoria, IL 61615 , Tazewell County , Illinois , United States
Not generic definitely old school and they pretty much have everything that you ever need. They have modern tablet stands and all that but they have the old-school touch which is rare.
Don has been a mainstay in the Peoria music scene for over 40 years.
The people here really care about music, instruments, and the customer. They’re very flexible when it comes to financing and have a great selection. Their available lessons are especially great! Never would have thought someplace would give viola lessons in ol Peoria.
A delightful trio playing and singing songs which are familiar to those of us with at least a touch of gray hair.
A wonderful Sunday afternoon with 3 talented musicians, playing the songs I grew to love growing up. Great variety, excellent harmonies, gifted players. Waited too long to see them. I’ll definitely keep track of when they are performing next. Thanks, guys.
20. River City String Quartet
Address: 2401 S Fourth Ave, Morton, IL 61550 , Tazewell County , Illinois , United States
So excellent to work with. I used a violin and a cello for my wedding and received compliments all day long on how beautiful and classy they sounded.
River City String Quartet performed at my wedding last month and WOW. Having a string quartet at my wedding has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl and the exceptional talent of the musicians made our ceremony even more beautiful. Jane was amazing to work with and extremely helpful with choosing our music selection. I can’t recommend RCSQ enough!
