Both of our kids have been taking piano lessons at this place for the past few years. They enjoy it and look forward to going every week. The service is phenomenal, and the instructors are great. The owner, Tyler, is a super nice guy. He is such a pleasure to work with, and he helps out with recommendations on what instruments to buy and where to find the best deals on them. If you are looking for a place to have lessons, look no further. We love Idlewild Guitars & Teaching Studios!
I recently moved from Philly ,and forgot my guitar tuner so I popped in and met Tyler , awesome dude and proprietor , he has a nice selection of really nice acoustic and electric guitars . Lessons are also available here.
They are never there!!!

It is always a pleasure to come to this store. These guys always go above and beyond to help you. Trey the manager and Guitar Jim are amazing. I wish I could remember the names of all of the guys that have helped us before they all have been great.
Great customer service and always fun.
Always fun to visit the CENTER!
Great little place for music equipment or gadgets but there a little pricey
Huge selection of guitars and accessories. Lots of other musical instruments as well. Drums, keyboards, speakers, etc. Friendly and knowledgeable staff can help you find whatever you are needing to get the band going.
Large clean store with lots of musical instruments and accessories!
Customer service was exceptionally lacking. Out of 5 employees who were behind the counter hanging around, none of them acknowledged myself of others who were in the store, even when I was leaving. It’s not for a lack of them not knowing that I was there as they kinda glared at me, it was as if they did not care. There was even a mother and her young son who was looking to pick up a guitar. They asked me if I knew about guitars but I told them that unfortunately I am new as well. I felt kind of bad for them as none of the employees at the time seemed interested in helping.
I went next door to Portman’s and picked up my first guitar from there. It was a very positive experience from them acknowledging you as you come in, to checking to see if you had questions, to the older gentleman giving me a demonstration between the two guitars that I was interested in. I know I am just one person but I am one person who will not give guitar center my business in the future. I will go to Portman’s for my needs.
I walked in ready to spend $1000 on a PA system and I stood in front of the speakers for 20 minutes, not a single person acknowledged my presence. One was busy playing a guitar the other was playing drums with headphones on and another was fiddling with something at the counter. So i went to portmans. Within 5 minutes a guy was hooking up pa speakers for me to listen to. I spent $800 and guitar center missed out on my business.
Wow, what a selection. New shiney gorgeous instruments. Sales associates everywhere eager to make a sale or are they? How can someone walk in, walk through the entire store and Not One Associate speak? Welcome to Guitar Center? How are you today? What can I help you with?? Thank You for coming in? Sad

Terrific service and more than reasonable prices, I’ll be bringing all of my instruments here for maintenance and repairs!
Brought my two electric guitars in, one for a new nut and full set up, and the other for light maintenance, and still the quality of the work done is unmatched. These guys are craftsmen and passionate about their work. I’m glad I stopped in and gave them a chance!
I popped in for new strings and had a joyful experience with the man there – definitely chill friendly vibes and I left with a free sticker and good quality guitar pic!

My wife and I stopped in on Sunday 10/20/19 to see about trade in values for some old equipment that I had, and to look into the purchase of a powered speaker. Your associate, Randy Lowery, was most helpful. He was able to take care of our needs while also tending to other customers in a very professional and courteous manner. He let me know the actual selling price and the trade in values for my old equipment. He gave me comparison figures and demonstrations of multiple powered speakers and mixers with effects choices to fit the parameters that I was looking to fill. He let my wife have a chair to sit in (she is somewhat disabled), while I was checking things out. He discussed with me other options in a lessor price range because my wife and I were concerned about our budget. He did all of this and attended to other customers without trying to push or rush us into buying something more expensive. We were thoroughly pleased with his service, expertise, pleasant manner, and professional conduct. Our purchase ended up costing the same as the single speaker we had intended to purchase, even though we were able to end up with a comparable speaker, speaker stand, mixer with effects, and cord for the connection of the two. My wife and I wanted to let you know that this was the most enjoyable purchasing experience that we have had in many, many years. Randy is a wonderful shining example of what we would expect of any salesman in any business and needs to be commended for his performance and considered as a model for all sales persons. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
Best service hands down. I brought my guitar in with some questions about issues I was having (I recently purchased it used from another store). Jeff, the guitar sales manager, spent over two hours working with me and meticulously servicing and making adjustments on my modest used acoustic. He brought her back to life. I may have bought her from somewhere else but my experience today reminded me what sets Portman’s apart from the rest.
I used to take piano and drums here before I moved.
The teachers are very professional and helpful.
This was my first Piano Lesson since March 2020. It was very good.
Great place! They never have the parts I need, but they always tell me where to find them. There bass section is very limited I wish they would improve upon it.
It’s the vibe of any typical music store, however they were very well-stocked very helpful to my needs – if not overbearing at some times. They had a wide range of products (but not really). If you like music, this is a store.
I stopped in back in December, 2017.
Not the friendliest staff at the Savannah location. Had to get guitar and eukele strings for my daughter. Not ONE salesman or staff member asked if I needed help. They stood around doing nothing. Wouldn’t even make eye contact with me. I stood there studying th strings for 10minutes. Finally, I called my daughter to help me get what she needed. Cashier was nice bt his nervous laugh & smile, made ME very uncomfortable. He never asked if I was military, i only got th military discount BECAUSE I showed him my ID with my credit card; MY usual SOP whilst shopping.
My daughter wanted to visit th store, she looking to buy a third guitar, bt when we talked about my experience, she changed her mind bt I could tell she was dissapointed. I won’t be coming back.
FYI to th staff; Not all of us are criminals. We feel just as nervous as you do when we shop certain places. Our money spends like everyone else’s.
As a former violinist, oboe and piano player, I know music is universal and not selective. Disgusted yes and saddend as well by th customer service.
Have a good day bt never again.
Been in this store twice now and each time racial profiling was felt. I will not be returning to this type of behavior.
Do not – I repeat – do NOT rent or buy your child’s band instrument from this store. It took over 20 minutes before anyone even noticed we were in the store. We saw sales people, but they were too busy standing, talking to one another, and sitting alone in front of computers to bother with us. We were heading for the door when someone finally asked if we needed anything. He got the band salesman from the back and that person talked to us as if we were idiots. We had very specific ideas about what was wanted – having been advised by the band director, but the salesman tried to steer us away from the name brand and toward their own store brand. (which the band director told us to NOT buy, as the quality was very poor.) We had to insist to be shown the name brand.
We didn’t find exactly what we were looking for at the price we wanted so before we had them order a saxophone for us we told them we would go to the other music store in town just to compare. The salesman told us that the other store had gone out of business. I had just been on their website, so I called them right there in the store.
They were in business so we went over just to see what kind of deal we could get. My husband mentioned that Portmans had said this store had gone under and they just rolled their eyes and laughed a little. Apparently, Portmans’ people know their competition is still doing business and tell everyone otherwise.
We call that “dirty pool” and we don’t like it. The other store rented us a great sax at a monthly rental that’s just over HALF what Portmans wanted, and our son gets to keep it when the year is up. That’s not the case at Portmans.
The other store is Georgia Music and it’s on Abercorn toward downtown. They didn’t bad mouth Portmans, they were professional.
Everyone is very friendly and has excellent customer service skills. Ms. Bonnie is an amazing instructor. My granddaughter looks forward to her class every week. She loves how Ms. Bonnie makes learning vocals fun and easy. Thank you!
Adina and Corinne were super knowledgable and friendly. They helped me get the gear I needed and educated me about the violin and music generally. Great find!
I am pleased to say I had a very pleasant experience with Music and Arts! Corinne, Sydney, and Adina (the manager) were all so helpful. They went above and beyond to locate a bass guitar that I was unable to find anywhere else.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and respectable pricing. I’m not a musician, but my wife left impressed.
Very kind staff and plenty of items for sale
I’m truly upset with this store. I received 2 notices in the mail due to my credit card being declined. The reason why my card was declined was because of frauds activities. I went to pay on my daughter’s instrument and they told me that they do not accept payments in the store nor updated the information in their records. This is ludicrous. They need to change their policy. I called twice this week to reach customer service and they has me on hold for a whole hour. Something has to give.
The teen girl working was poorly dressed and rude. Having shopped at other locations before, I expected kind, well dressed employees with expert knowledge. That is not that case at this store– at least not with that employee!! This location lost the only good employee they had (the manager Brandon).
