Nice and helpful people ….their very informative and their prices are fare …
Super helpful and friendly staff, lots of music books to choose from! Cool store with cool stuff
Excellent knowledge of what is necessary for a beginner “rock star.” Very helpful eothball of ky questions and my daughter “absolutely loves” her electric guitar!
Helpful associates, solid environment.
On July 12, I brought my guitar to Richards to be serviced (My kid pulled it off the stand and the neck started to separate from the body). I was told it would be a “couple days” and their tech would call me. By July 18, I had not heard from them so I called, only to be told, “our tech hasn’t looked at it yet, he’ll look at it within a couple days.” By July 23rd, I still had not heard from them, so I called again, and was again told, “a couple days.” The first “a couple days” had turned into a week and a half. I think the only reason I got it back (after a month) was because they got tired of me calling them. They never called me, I always had to call them, only to be told the same thing over and over again. They will not give you a specific date, saying “It will be done on such-and-such a day;” only “a couple days”. I kept asking “When? On what day of this week will your elusive ‘Tech’ look at and fix my guitar?” They never gave me a straight answer. If they had told me up front that it would take a month, I might not be so upset. I think their interpretation of “couple days” is different from everybody else’s. I also got real nervous when I found that they have a history of holding musical instruments hostage, even to a point of having a local news station do an investigation. Suffice it to say, I will stay away from Richard’s Music from now on. I think I could have gotten better service from a third grader with Elmer’s Glue than I got at Richard’s Music.
Best prices on saxophone reeds. Great customer service.
Worst so called sales person ever!
Called to make sure they had a guitar listed in their website and I’m glad I did. The person working there informed me that their website is not up to date and they don’t have alot of the guitars in their website in stock. I don’t understand why they could not update the website as it’s very misleading and they know it’s an issue.
Whoever I talked to (I’m assuming not the owner) wasn’t pleasant at the least. I had some questions on a resell and every time I tried talking I was interrupted with “I’m not the one to ask” without the question even being asked LOL very poor service. Do not recommend

Address: 5950 Airport Hwy, Toledo, OH 43615 , Toledo , California , United States
I do love that I was able to buy my daughters flute with payments. Couldn’t have afforded her musical education without it. Thank you, Rettig!
FANTASTIC customer service!
They were very helpful getting my daughter set up with her band equipment.
Really don’t have much option as to where to get musical instrument when the school insists on this place. What I don’t understand is the necessity of a credit check when using a credit card. I have to take a hard hit on my credit so my kid can be in band. It’s done and she will have her instrument when school starts.
Great customer service
My son’s trumpet was repaired quickly and they provided a loaner, so that he never missed any school or practice time.
Over priced! You will do better on the web buying instruments, my sister was TSA and TYSO,
no good deals here!
On multiple occasions they failed to have proper common rental equipment to replace my defective equipment.
Unhepful rude on the phone absolutely no help with trying to rent an instrument for my daughter’s band because my credut was in their eyes not good enough even though i gave my debit card and signed up for automatic payments sorry i dont live off credit cards
4. Minstrel House Music
Address: 5019 Chatsworth Rd, Toledo, OH 43614 , Toledo , California , United States
I bought their expensive candy apple red kit. It says there is enough paint for one guitar, but due to it having to cover up the gold (this takes more than you think) that wasn’t true. When I wrote them to explain this, they didn’t even have the decency to write back and complete ignored me. That type of customer service is what you will get, and I think that warrants a 1.
6. Frye’s Music Services
Address: 3525 Marine Rd, Toledo, OH 43609 , Toledo , California , United States
Friendly, helpful staff plus a good selection at decent prices. Very happy my experience and purchase.
Guys are great! Help you get your guitar in toon.
Great selection, unique amps and pedals that guitar center doesn’t have .
A nice collection of guitars for people who don’t want run-of-the-mill stuff that’s come from overseas.
The staff was very nice and helpful
They have it all
Steer clear of this establishment! I sent my wife in with a 4500$ guitar and they tried to offer her 450$ even guitar center offered 2k for it and I always felt gc to be on the lower end of the resale market but these guys take the cake. Not to mention the employee that was looking at it broke a string and acted like it didn’t happen instead of replacing it he removed the broken string and put it back in the case….
Older short white lady was very rude to me and my boyfriend. She seemed low key racist vibes to me. She carded us knowing we grown as hell…then tried to tell my 46 yr old tale she wasn’t going to serve me even tho we were just here last weekend w/o being carded . So she asked her coworker and her coworker told her it was ok so she rolled her eyes and slammed my paper copy ID on the counter even tho I gave it to her in her hand…she kinda killed my mood.i won’t be bringing anyone bk here .
I have a guitar at Heights for repair for 43 days and counting. They told me it would a couple of weeks. They said if I wasn’t happy come pick it up. I said no I wanted it repaired as agreed. I will keep everyone updated on how long it takes to repair
8. Prodigy Music Co
Address: 3434 W Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH 43623 , Toledo , California , United States
Had the parts that I needed. Great customer service
Excellent knowledge
Great store to find professional gear. Prodigy Music is more than just a store to buy your gear. Prodigy also does professional installs for sound and some video.
You can rent professional gear at a great price. If you don’t see it in the store ask Dave Shoffer owner of Prodigy Music. If Dave can’t get what you want, the product probably isn’t made yet. And don’t forget about prices. Dave will match or beat the price you find online or from another store. Remember if you buy online who’s going to service your gear when it fails ? Prodigy will !!!!!!
Ways a great place to find whatever you need for and audio situation.
Dave was very helpful, and his PA rental rates were reasonable too!
Decent prices and selection.
9. All Star Music
Address: 2025 S Byrne Rd, Toledo, OH 43614 , Toledo , California , United States
Went in to get help with a cello string, service was great and extremely helpful. I can definitely see myself coming back here again
Highly Recommend! Friendly knowledgeable staff and great service.
My 6yr old decided he wants to play guitar. So instead of buying a new guitar we found an old one from his sister, but it had a broken E string. We took into the shop to see about fixing it and they did more than fix his string as a courtesy but also gave us so much information on classes, loaner instruments, what to look up on YouTube to get started and variety of beginner books in store. Thanks for the help guys and hopefully he’ll enjoy learning so we can start classes.
Not much happening when I was there.
FAAAANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Pleasantly surprised. Got a great guitar instructor. Having fun learning and practicing. Looking forward to next lesson. Good people. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
I was hoping to add a new review but I’m not so tech savvy. Great staff and instructors who can teach so many techniques. Chuck Stohl phenomenal. Lots of equipment and excellent prices. Stop in and see.
I dropped off my cello on Monday 1/2 to get restrung and tuned. I was told it would take a couple days and cost under $50. I received a missed call a couple days later with no voicemail left. I called back (with no idea who I was calling) and it turned out to be All Star Music. They had called to let me know restringing my cello would be about $70 and they wondered if it was okay to proceed. I agreed and was told my instrument would be done in another few days. On Wednesday of the following week I called them wondering what was going on with my instrument. I was told the repairman had been out and my cello could be picked up on Friday (1/13). No one had notified me there would be a delay on the simple task. When I arrived on Saturday morning they had just started on restringing my cello. I was told to come back in 20 minutes. When I returned they explained that a small part had broken on my cello and they repaired it. I was charged $115 for RESTRINGING my cello and replacing the fine tuner adjuster. The strings were not completely correctly wound around the pegs and the cello was not tuned as I had asked them to do. The cello was so out of tune in fact that I know they didn’t even attempt to tune more than the A string.
If they were going to take two full business weeks to restring my instrument I think they could have been professional and at least called me to explain instead of leaving me wondering. If they did not have the ability to do this simple task well, they should have made me aware of that when I first inquired before bringing my instrument in.
Terrible customer service online. Doesn’t follow reverb policy, denied refund and returned multiple times. Pictures and descriptions don’t match items at all. Terrible.
I ordered a bari saxophone from them on Ebay. It was damaged to the point it wasn’t playable (one of the keys even fell off!). Pictures and description did not represent this, and the condition was “used” and said that it should be functional despite some cosmetic damages. I am FINALLY now getting a refund after sending it back and messaging them with no response because Ebay is stepping in. So ridiculously unprofessional and rude. I hope you don’t treat your in person customers like your online ones. If you’re going to provide a faulty product at least have the decency to not ghost your customers!
10. Full Score Music
Address: 2977 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo, OH 43613 , Toledo , California , United States
Great local store! The owner is very friendly and really seems to know what he’s talking about when it comes to the instruments. I’m so glad to have a decent music store close by that isn’t just another corporate cut out.
Buy local, great deals, great staff
Always liked this store buying all my guitars and service is a good experience all the times I’ve been there on Tramainsville rd
It’s good to see Steve again and reminisce and fill him in on what’s going on with me
WORST MUSIC STORE EVER… Workers Are So mean and don’t even take care in what they do. talked with Steve and he Had the worst Tone ever. Never would I think a little music store would be so harsh. Not to mention, everything they sell feels and looks very cheap like it would break in your hands. They say they mark things down low but by the looks of it no one wants a 200$ toy-Feeling guitar. do not waste Your gas, time or breath at this junk yard. full score music is a HUDGE let down. WAY better of going to guitar center..
11. Strings & Things
Address: 901 N Main St, Lakeport, CA 95453 , Toledo , California , United States
Jim has always been a magnificent repair guy and an honest gentleman. I’ve purchased guitars from him and have had all my set ups done there. This place is a gem in our little community.
Jim is a great guy and very helpful .
Very cluttered but nice little music store. Owner is nice and prices are fair. Music lessons are available here.
Lesson was good
Very helpful!
I found Jim to be cold and disinterested, borderline hostile unfortunately. I order the strings he has never heard of online. Jim appears to be a bit of a fence. I would question the provenance of an instrument from this shop. The music shoppe from a Stephen King film.
