Rene Taylor is extraordinarily talented and a fantastic singer! I enjoy her music every time I attend one of her shows! She is definitely a must see!
You really have to experience Rene Taylor and her smooth sultry voice. She not only captivates you with her jazz standards, she performs great jazzy arrangements of pop music including songs from the Beatles, Mamas and Papas and many more. See one of her shows at your next opportunity! You’ll be glad you did.
Great customer service, clean and well stocked store.
Good selection and prices. We frequent this store for strings, drum accessories and purchased a guitar here. While the staff sometimes dress a bit goofy, they have been very friendly and helpful.
We support local businesses when we can, and they have competitive prices.
I have never played an instrument before and Cooper has been guiding me through this journey. He is patient. He listens to what I want to accomplish. He simplifies all of the music jargon for me. I do not care to learn theory or make my own music. I want to learn a good number of songs and that is what Cooper is helping me do. I recommend this location and Cooper as an instructor.
Friendly and helpful staff! Clean and distance with masks observed! Awesome place to learn music as well as purchase quality music products.
Just want to say that I am a fan of this store. I think they do a great job at helping people find what they are looking for and have them leaving satisfied with their musical purchases. With that being said, I want to make a point that only having one store closer is unsafe. Multiple times in the past year I have heard of there being theft. I’m concerned for the employees’ safety and customer safety.
Protect your employees! They make the company money!
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff.
I used to be loyal customer for years. Howerver, M&A’s new strategy of “Paperless receipts”, requires that I provide my email address for a purchase. Their “paperless reciept” excuse is nothing more than a strategic excuse to obtain email addresses so they can spam. When I stated I do not provide my email, they refused to sell me a service. I have since found a local music store that is more friendly and will no longer use M&A.
One of the worst experiences I have ever had dealing with incompetent employees all the way up to management (heaven) to even cooperate , I’m so thankful I no longer have to deal with any of these people again especially the guitar instructor, I did not appreciate every little comment he made about any of the equipment we brought in to shame my child because the items he brought in were passed down from his grandfather , I also find it way more convenient to order my items on Amazon for a much lower rate and to not have to deal with individuals that are looking to charge me an over priced rate , I gave a small shop a chance to help out locally and all they did was run the “he said she said “ experience, I will not and do not recommend this place to anyone , one of the worst experiences I have ever had at any facility . Good riddance !!!!
I was very unhappy with the way this store sold us an instrument after we rented one for over two years. We qualified for the rental credit and it was given to us. The problem was that they valued the used rental instrument at $800+ and they sell the same one brand new for about $470. The reason they do that is that there is a clause that states that when using the rental credit one must buy an instrument that cost the same or more than the rental so they jack up the value of the rental. We were told that we couldn’t buy the flute we had been renting and could not get a new flute because it wasn’t equal or more value to the one we had been renting per terms of our agreement. They said that our only option was to purchase a used refurbished flute from the warehouse and it would be sent to us. We feel that this is a very shady way to do business. Not recommended. Updated; Thank you for your reply too, owner of the store. I have already sent an email but thanks for suggesting it.
4. High Spirits Flutes
Address: 9040 N Oracle Rd, Oro Valley, AZ 85704 , Tortolita , Arizona , United States
I’ve been (still am) a proud customer since 2013 with a growing collection of thier flutes.
What can I say??? Precise construction, clear n’ resonating voice, and an overall beautiful selection of flutes.
They are very worth the investment and time to play, and to practice with if you’re a begginer.
Odell Borg is a fine craftsman, artist, and musician. He is a leader in innovation in the art of the Native American flute. His designs use a solid piece of wood–never split, routed, and glued. He makes flutes for all levels of ability and for all budgets. I fully intend to get no fewer than a dozen of his fine works within the next few years!
Great selection and craftsmanship. My wife bought a beautiful flute and can’t wait to play it.
I was delighted with my first High Spirit pocket flute in G after trying out and found out that it can hit high D note and subsequent bought another in A key which made me sad as it is unable to hit the higj E note.
Website shows open on Saturday, went to store on Saturday @ 215 pm and they were closed. We’ll never be back until they get there hours straightened out!!! Very disappointed. But I love ❤️ there flutes.
Lots of things for musicians and singers and people who like music
Never had a bad deal there.
Was well helped.
Kinda expensive. But nice employees and clean store. They have everything as far as instruments. Could send all data there.!
Terrible customer service, we walk in two associates at the front desk and no greeting at all, we have been looking at mixers for10 minutes and they still won’t cover over and help me get the mixer I want, but there at the counter chatting away .
Its a Guitar Center. Dont expect help of any kind. Do research BEFORE you go in just so that you dont need any help. Because you wont find it. Its like GC looks for people with no work ethic and attitute to boot. Can’t imagine why they had to file for bankruptcy……
In order to rate this guitar center I was forced to give it a single star in order to rate it.
Truthfully, I would not have given it even a half of a star.
They simply treat people like dirt! If you want to be treated this way, go visit them, cause, the bad news bears work at this location of Guitar Center. They need to get new employees and maybe even management!
Be advised, the Broadway store does “Great” honest business!!! Thanx Josh!
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Good prices & selection.
Awesome staff. Just wanted to learn to play something, very helpful and supportive!
Super helpful staff. Don’t miss their Rummage Sale!
This place has horrible seating. There are no healthy items on their menu. For nutritional information, refer to the documentary quote Supersize Me
Helped us out to select keyboard for birthday gift. Price same as best deal online.
Good !
When I called to ask how much it would cost to replace violin strings, they said it was free and that I would only be charged for the new strings themselves. But when I brought the violins in, they charged me $25 per violin. Then, after a few days of practice on the newly stringed violins, one (of the two) violins irreparably broke at the base where the strings would attach, likely because they had negligently applied too much force in replacing the strings. In all, I paid them almost $100 to ruin one of my violins, which cost me $400 to replace. They are liars and at least when it comes to violins, they are also incompetent.
Not pleased at all. I called ahead to get instruments repaired and was told it would be two weeks. I drove to drop off instruments and asked if I could have them done a few days sooner. I was told the repair person is taking a vacation and it would be 3 weeks. But, if I wanted to pay double, I could have it done sooner. What a scam! I will never do business with this music store.
Place is ok but prices are high
9. The Folk Shop
Address: 2525 N Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719 , Tortolita , Arizona , United States
This is the best music store in Town. The folks there are great and it’s got great mojo
Shop local it’s the best.
Great place to get your kiddo hooked on something GOOD. Very nice people, too.
I took a homeless guy there once and he cried when he remembered how to play bob Dylan’s “how does it feel” I had to leave at that point.
Cool little shop, not that wheelchair friendly but I was still able to get around. The staff I interacted with was very knowledgeable and helpful just looking for a harp for my daughter and he helped get it set up and answered all my questions and my daughters.
Neat shop, friendly staff. Went in to see if they could help with my Djembe drum repair, but they don’t currently have anyone who can replace and restring the skin for the drumhead ☹️
Very rude disrespectful because I was asking for a part and I didn’t have a mask and I wasn’t trying to go in the place without permission and they were just very rude very very rude and I didn’t understand I was thrown off by it. Yelling at me for no reason all I wanted was a part I didn’t even try to go into shop told her I’d wait outside because I didn’t have a mask she slams door in my face. So I go get a mask and they won’t even deal with me I was the up most respectful and didn’t deserve that. Very very rude!!! I’ll never do business with them again.
I am absolutely incredulous as to how condescendingly I was treated over the phone by this place. I arrived with my Taylor 312-CE looking to trade up and quite likely spend substantial chunk of money. I noticed the posting on the door that read (I may be paraphrasing) “masks required even for those vaccinated.” I have been twice jabbed with Pfizer, but no problem. I get it. I understand it. People may not be fully honest about their status and might contaminate others. I have zero issue complying with the policy The posting also read “do not knock; call to be granted entry” (again, I may be paraphrasing, but this was the gist). I keep a KN-95 with me in the car but couldn’t find it. Maybe it fell behind the seat or something. I ring their number. A woman answers. Convo goes like this: “Hi, I noticed you require masks even for the vaxxed, which I am fully, but I can’t seem to find mine here in my car….I’m here outside….do you happen to have any masks there inside the store that you could pass out to me”? (like logical, sensible merchants across town, the state, the country have in abundance in case you forgot or can’t find yours—sterile ones for the taking in boxes) “If not, I don’t live too far. I can run home, grab one and come back”. The woman on the phone raises her voice and says “NO YOU NEED TO WEAR A MASK” and abruptly hangs up!! Um, I think I got that part and more than amply communicated it back. Wow. And delivered with a tone of voice akin to Mrs. Gulch from Wizard of Oz. I was perfectly polite, acknowledged the policy and was willing to go out of my way to comply. This is not only ridiculously bad policy, but there was not even basic intelligible, lucid communication on her part. Not the conduct of a sound minded individual.
Now, for some background. I have never made any major purchases at Folk Shop. However, I have patronized them over years–even before I moved to Tucson. The first time, I was recording an album visiting from Austin in 2014 and needed a dobro capo. The engineer called around to Guitar Center and few other places. They didn’t even know what a dobro was, much less a dobro capo. Folk Shop to the rescue with a Paul Beard capo, just like the one I had forgotten and left back in TX! I’ve been there since for strings, straps, stainless steel slides etc. Never ever the slightest of problems. What happened today is totally inexcusable. I myself have been fastidious and a stickler about masking and distancing throughout the pandemic, but this kind of post-mandate fanaticism, illogic and outright meanness is beyond the pale. They certainly don’t want my money or any of my future business. To hell with this place. l’ll buy a guitar from Musician’s Friend before stepping foot in there, even though I prefer to shop locally.
Well, over the years I’ve bought, sold, and traded with Paul and really wouldn’t do so again. The last guitar I purchased there had broken tuner barrels and more important, his pricing and moods vary wildly. Certainly lots to look at, but no great shakes in terms of quality or pricing.
10. Tempo Music and Arts Academy
Address: 8555 N Silverbell Rd # 101, Tucson, AZ 85743 , Tortolita , Arizona , United States
What a fantastic atmosphere! Collaborative lessons, recording, and a beautiful space.
Tempo has been such an amazing experience for our daughter. She started with Tonya when she was four years old, and has learned so much and in such a seemingly short amount time. We are very happy with the teachers at Tempo who challenge her and she looks forward to each lesson. Brilliant teachers, a welcoming and calm atmosphere in the school, a very user friendly app to track practice time and assignments, and a relaxed open mic session for performing learned pieces.
Thank you Tempo!
% recommend!!! Great team of music instructors. I had a great experience, Everyone is kind and professional. I exceeded my goals with the classes I attended. I am excited and encouraged to keep learning. The staff is amazing!! the facility very nice and welcoming. The material provided is easy to follow and understand. The app/website that is provided with the course is helpful to keep track of classes and material provided during the course. Our instructor posted videos to follow while practicing at home and that was helpful to me.
Untrustworthy and disappointing
No communication, harmful to child
11. Elastik Labs Recording Studio
Address: 10191 N Camino De Oeste, Tucson, AZ 85742 , Tortolita , Arizona , United States
Guys are very helpful, quick to do the repairs needed. Fun little shop
Bicycle / Music shop = very cool
Staff was welcoming, helpful and products were fantastic. Gem of a variety store
Slow customer service.
It’s a good place
Unique
I really wish I could give it to zero Stars they sold me used parts they didn’t do what they said they were going to do and they charged me for stuff that they didn’t even replace and tried to sell it as new they just left the old stuff on my bike and told me that they replaced it then they took old parts are used parts off of some other bike and charge me full price
They sold me a C trumpet that needed far more repairs than described. It had messy soldering all over it and a 2nd valve slide that was way to long(It was a generic slide someone had previously done a bad repair job on). I’m not sure if this is typically just a guitar shop or what, but wind players, avoid this place. I ended up selling the horn for way less than I paid, because no reasonable person would pay what I did after seeing it up close. Ended up buying a new one from a very knowledgeable store in San Jose. Lost about $400 when all was said and done, but at least I have a horn that functions without needing a copious number of repairs.
Will not do business with anymore!
14. Guitar Center
Address: 4720 E Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85711 , Tortolita , Arizona , United States
I went looking for a drum throne and I found the perfect one that I wanted and the floor person in the drum section was very cool…he instinctively knew what I was looking for….I also met a nice lady there with a little doge that I fell in love with…it was a great experience!
I wish all guitar centers had the customer service and knowledge this location does.
This place is hit or miss with the service. In the 5 or so times I’ve been, two times I’ve simply just walked out after waiting to get someone to help me and gone to another music store to buy what I needed.
The staff is still friendly and ready to assist when needed. The store isn’t as crowded and as loud as in previous years but it doesn’t take away from a wide inventory of musical instruments and accessories being offered.
Good customer service, but lacked simple products on the shelves like connectors or cables.
SLOW & NEEDS IMPROVEMENT for CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I ordered something on the website and had it shipped to the store, the processing center sent not just the wrong version of the item I bought but an item that is completely different than what I ordered.
