walked in to buy some violin strings and some piano music for some students. Also asked some advice from the girls behind the counter about the best beginner flute and trumpet for a student as well. They were very knowledgeable and helped with music and information. The best in the area in my opinion as I am a retired public school music teacher.
Fabulous!
This place has served me well for almost 2 decades! If you need something guitar related they probably got it or they can order it for you!
Does not have promark DC 50s
Nice people but not the most swift customer service.
There’s something cool about having a local music store. Maybe it’s the underdog appeal or the campy appeal of walking into a business that has clearly taken over a few nearby store-fronts in its slow pace of success (sort of like the nearby Roma D’Italia), but you have to think about the customer base and whether you belong to it.
Jim’s Music is in a good position to service the elderly residents of Tustin, who may be too put-off by the weird bazaar of instruments seen in Guitar Centers. I’ve been in shopping for parts and seen more than a fair share of Baby Boomers getting their strings replaced or their grandchildren fitted for a ukulele. On that note, I feel as if Jim’s other big market-share is in the teenage band member population. A lion’s share of their store is dedicated to band instruments, and you’d do well coming here rather than a Guitar Center if your kid needs a trombone.
So how about guitars? Chances are, you’re better off buying a guitar online, even though Jim’s has a very good history of matching and then beating online pricing. The only problem, therefore, is the stock on hand. There’s a small selection to choose from, and chances are your crazy Ibanez guitar from Japan is not among the rows of ukuleles and Orange amps. So why else come here? Instrument repair! In my experience, the guys at Jim’s do a fairly good job at whatever you throw at them… when they do manage to get around to it. I had a broken guitar in need of a new selector ordered from one of their partners. I called them back maybe three times to check on the part over the course of two weeks, each time being told that they’d let me know via phonecall when it would arrive. When the third week came, I took the beast to a GC and had it fixed a few days later; not only was I phoned back, I was able to speak with the technician via e-mail, which strikes me as a no brainer in this day and age.
As of 5 weeks after my initial ticket with Jim’s, still no phone call. If you want your instrument repaired, you could bring it here… if you want it repaired quickly, look elsewhere. Your gig, recital, training regiment, etc. may depend on it.
First impressions are everything. Walked in, two employees looked over and did not greet me let alone acknowledge my existence. Walked around in the guitar section for 10 minutes without anyone to ask me if I needed help. Employees were talking to each other about TV as I browsed around. My intentions were to purchase a guitar, and they lost a sale and a customer. I am never coming back!
Very disappointed in the customer service today. Went into buy a guitar for my son and strings for my Flamenco guitar. Short haired guy behind the counter was rude and dismissive. Probably having a bad day, but shouldn’t take it out on customers. I walked out without buying anything and went to a different music shop to buy the guitar for my son.
Employees are rude, unhelpful and one of them called my friend a “retard” for stringing his guitar incorrectly. I would go to Guitar Center every time over this place if there was one by my house, but unfortunately this is the closest music store around.
2. Tustin Music Center
Address: 13721 Newport Ave #9, Tustin, CA 92780 , Tustin , California , United States
Great staff and teachers. We have been coming here for viola lesson for many years. Highly recommended.
I’ve been in here before and I always leave with a smile on my face and music in my ear.
I asked about a rental and they said they would get it in for me in a week and call me about it. I called a 2nd time and they said they would call again. Yet again to my surprise they never returned that call.
Offer some quality low prices countryman mini microphones gentleman seem interested and told me he would call me the falling week…weeks have passed and I never heard anything from him to this day. Not really professional if you ask me.
The owner (wife) is extremely rude. Came in to buy a shoulder rest for my daughters violin. Asked for a specific brand, told me that they do not carry it and said that brand sucked. Told me to buy a no name brand which was more expensive than a major brand. No thanks. Rather buy it from Amazon.
3. Grace Music & Violin Shop
Address: 130 W Main St, Tustin, CA 92780 , Tustin , California , United States
This shop has something for everybody! Every type of music, many price points. All quality analog formats (mostly vinyl). You can tell they really care about music, and you, the vinyl consumer. Six stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Such an eclectic store. Bargains as low as $1 and even some new records made this a fun trip.
Cool little vinyl shop. Modern aesthetic. Good mixture of old and new records.
Recently I went in to redeem a gift card. Analog Record Shop brought back alot of good memories of buying vinyl albums in a Record store. They have a good selection of new and used albums plus cassette and equipment. You need to check them out if your looking for some albums.
I donated a box of albums I didn’t want. They were grateful for them & helped keep them out of the landfill.
The gentleman was too busy to help me even though I had about $900 cash looking to buy some albums. He was very rude and I would never go here again and I don’t think you should either.
The worst customer service I’ve ever had from a record store
