Classic music store, specializes in acoustic instruments. Excellent instructors in guitar, mandolin, banjo, violin and uke. Also piano.
Music Junction is a great music store. Leon, the owner, is a great guy. This music store is my go to place for all my musical needs.
What an awesome spot to drop in on.
They checked out my musical instruments for me, and told me yes they would make nice gifts for my grandchildren I was really appreciative.
thank you, Music Junction.
I got a great like-new guitar here, and I love it! I asked for a certain feel and playability, in a certain (low) price range, and they found me the perfect one! They even fixed it up for me (usually a paid service) for free. The owner and employees are really nice, and the store has a family atmosphere. I do wish they had more selection of items, but they will order pretty much anything you want, so that makes up for it.
I never thought I’ll get such a horrible service and attitude. Would never step into this shop and certainly discourage anyone from visiting it.
Lack of professionalism and client orientation.
Driven by money and greed.
Overprice and not professional work. That’s what I experienced, and I learned my lesson to trust my guts when, in the beginning of the discussion about the work that should be done, I heard the comment. I asked to defret my bass and asked how much it would cost. The answer was 150$ ( another place I asked $80-90, but I could not do it immediately. Also, the location was less convenient for me), Leon asked $150 for defreting , because he will have to remove the string !!!! Of course, you have to remove strings. It’s part of the job. When I checked the bass, which I just got while checking it at Leon’s shop, I realized that I also have to change the electronics and pickups. I asked Leon if he could do all the jobs before November 1 because this is when I’m flying and need the bass way way before that. He agreed.
I gave him a bass on Sept 5th. I got electronics a month later on Oct 3rd. Nothing was done by that time. The bass was just lying there.
When we were discussing defretting, he said he would refill the empty frets groves with wood and asked me what I want dark or light wood. I asked for dark. In the end, he felt it with an epoxy and did a sloppy job. Part of the frets aren’t filled with epoxy.
Electronic weren’t salder properly and when I explained what the problem was and asked him to resolved it he replied that he spend already so much time on my bass and can’t fix it immediately and I have to wait until the middle of next week, knowing that I’m flying in the begging of the week and can’t pick it up because of my work. On top of that, the setup of the bass was horrible. The action was at maxim height it can be. When I mentioned that, he replied that he didn’t want the string to touch the fretboard !!! What kind of noncensence? On top of that, he accused me of being dishonest with him about the date I need my bass. I still don’t understand how.
I paid him in full what he asked me when we had a deal, fulfilling my part of the deal. I paid $380, and he reminded me that it was $390( which I forgot) .
I was so frastreted and didn’t want to deal with this greedy man.
Until the end, I was keeping hope in my heart that he at least would ask to pardon him and reduce the price, but there was no sorry, let’s fix it or something. He doesn’t care.
Overpriced, poor selection, and very poor service (an employee was ridiculously patronizing to my friend’s teenaged son). Several acquaintances have voiced similar experiences. I will never go back.

Great knowledgeable customer service! My 11 year old is beginning guitar lessons here and he is crazy about it! Very welcoming place.
When I needed a new bass amp for a small to medium sized venues, this was where I went. I always like to support local business when I can.
They helped me find just the right amp, pulled a bass from their shelves to let me get a feel for it, and put it through its paces right there in the store.
The service was a prime example of why local business is usually superior. They also gave me a pretty good deal based on the prices I was able to find when doing a little background research on the suggested amp.
It sounds great in our church!
I will always go here first when shopping for professional quality gear. Customer won!
Great staff and many available services. Plenty of music books, great variety, and selection of merchandise.
This is a great store, tons of instruments, and a very friendly staff! They offer music lessons for a variety of instruments and vocal lessons as well. Prices are high, but you get what you pay for.
My two times being to this store have been a mixed bag. The first time i went I received some of the best service I’ve ever had at a guitar store. The gentleman helping me was enthusiastic, sincere, and a huge help with finding gear and getting suggestions. This Saturday i went though and it was absolutely terrible. Both the men working acted like overly reluctant Walmart employees when helping me (I was there to buy a guitar) and treated me like a nuisance. When actually finding a guitar and talking about purchasing it one of them walked away and went to the backroom and started loudly playing trumpet. The other gentlemen wasn’t any better when talking to him he just kind of ignored me. It was so bad I left and just got the guitar at a different store instead. Which is a real shame because it left a terrible taste in my mouth despite my first visit being so great.
Decided to sell my 2017 fender Stratocaster and a spider four amp which probably retail together for about $600 they offered me 175 I counter offered 200. Then when the manager came she just said no altogether. That’s fine they’ve lost all my business I was gonna buy $1000 guitar and I was gonna take music lessons from them now I will do neither I went right up the road I sold it for 400 good for them. I will also tell all of my friends not to shop there and I have many.
I took my clarinet to be repaired over Christmas break. All it needed was some pads and corks replaced. It took them TWO WEEKS to get it back to me. When I finally did get it back, they had only replaced ONE of the corks they had been asked to (they marked at least three that needed replacing), and NONE of the pads. For that one single cork, they charged $27.
Over priced for what you get. Cheaper in liveoak . More selection. Or better to buy online

Went into this store this past weekend to window shop with my husband. The atmosphere of the store drew us in. Jobi was very kind,, and you could just tell he was so passionate about what he does, and was very knowledgeable about music. Huge collection, and we could’ve spent hours there. Will definitely be returning back.

They’re always friendly and helpful. They seem to specialize in ukuleles. There is a huge selection.
Don’t bother going anywhere else. The folks here have been so patient and pleasant with me. Love them!
So happy I found this place! I was at guitar center a few days ago in the percussion area looking for a new egg shaker. The egg shakers there cost roughly $5-$6. Then I discovered Hoggtowne Music today, and not only were the egg shakers only $2 but the employees were super friendly and mentioned their weekly jam sessions downtown and invited me to join in on their upcoming event. Many patrons visited the shop while I was perusing, so it seemed like a pretty popular place and their inventory is very extensive. Will definitely be purchasing future instruments here. This is a great local business that contributes to the community and is truly a Gainesville gem.
I had an extremely frustrating experience with this shop. They did have a nice selection of Martins at reasonable prices and seemed like a decent shop otherwise.
Went to get a tuner they needed to price correct from the site, and they did. But also got a Hohner Puck that was repackaged (to be fair, idk if by them) and a draw hole didn’t work at all. That was the last one, so they had to switch with an Old Standby, and if you know harmonicas, that’s just a trade down even though it was more expensive on their shelf. I know it’s harder to do a refund, but I’d have rathered that. These things combined left a bad taste in my mouth.
Overpriced!!
I wouldn’t use them to have your guitar repaired. They charged me more then the usual and it came back buzzing all over.

Loved the service and care i am a new guitar player and they took theyre time in helping me find the perfect guitar for me 5/5 stars from me 🙂
Great, smaller scale Guitar Center
My son loves it there. Everyone there is really friendly
Ive had great experiences at this location but people need to understand that this is a really small always busy store. Its tough to keep things moving when youre constantly busy helping others. Ive gotten 2 great quality guitars from here and they are still going strong.
Good place
First-time visitor. I purchased a keyboard. The employee was very helpful and knowledgeable of the different brands, and accessories needed for the board.
I love seeing Guitar Center locations around the nation: how they’re alike, how they’re different. For the most part, their inventories are similar, used items aside. This GC location in particular though, is a tremendous let down.
For starters, I’m not sure if it’s due to local management or GC corporate, but this location is rarely restocked with guitars. I visited semi-frequently, and was disappointed every time. Hardly any variety in models of the big names, both electric and acoustic (Fender, Martin, Gibson, etc.) In other words, it’s the same stuff sitting around, month after month.
Additionally, most of the staff never really greets you or asks if you need help. Instead, I see many of them huddled behind the counter, playing on their phones. The store manager was rude and condescending to me when I asked him to complete a brief occupational survey for a business class of mine. He said he was too busy, which I could tell. He promptly returned to doing nothing after we spoke.
Overall, I expected more of such a recognizable name as Guitar Center. With lacking products and a seemingly careless manager and staff, it’s a bad example of the company. I don’t usually write reviews, but I have such a passion for this hobby of mine and the places that support it, that this Gainesville location needed to be talked about in hopes of change. Sorry for the rant!
I enjoy playing guitar and occasionally I like to shop for a something new. My suggestion: go online. This is a very cold unwelcoming place. EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE has a stank attitude. If you hate your job this much quit. Until this company changes the employees nasty attitudes they will get zero dollars from me.
The first time in this particular GC, I looked at a few guitars and nobody bothered to assist. I then went home, looked online and they happened to have what I wanted in stock. I called and told them I was coming in to buy it. I have seen better service but they are the only ones who sell real Gibson Les Paul’s in this town… so somewhat a captive audience. LSS… I bought the new LP, but wasn’t because of the customer service, I just knew what I wanted! To think… I was once a judge for the Guitar Center Guitarmaggedons years ago!
Peter was a pleasure to work with! He helped me decide on what custom handpan would best fit my desires for self expression. He was super easy to work with and generous with his time in helping me find the perfect instrument. I would recommend his handpan genius knowledge to anyone interested in the art!
Peter’s love for handpans is infectious as his laughter. He enjoys helping connect people to the right instrument. His teaching style is open and flexible. He’s able to instruct seasoned musicians to beginners and everyone in between. If you are looking to add a healing instrument in your life or looking for some instructions or tips on playing, Peter is your handpan guy.
Mr. Levitov was the teacher to unlock my musical voice. He helped me to meet Music on her terms and learn to speak her language. By following Peter’s lessons, I was able to watch my brain and how it functioned change right before (OK, actually behind) my eyes. The wisdom gained from Music doesn’t stop with music, it has affected my entire life.
And I love his laugh!

Have known Perry for twenty years, first saw him playing with Bo Didley and later with Monkeys Striking Matches before his solo career. He’s the real deal, great musician that easily adapts to personal tastes of his employers. If you want a talented player and entertainer look no further
Perry is the best local Saxophone player around. Not only is he professional and experienced, he has excellent customer service. If you’re looking for a skilled Saxophone player stop looking and book Perry! You won’t be disappointed!
An absolutely wonderful saxophonist with decades of experience under his belt. He has grabbed raw skill and professionalism and melted them well into a fantastic experience.
