I’ve been going to Ben for almost 20 years for all my guitar repair needs. He’s a wizard. Customer service has always been impeccable. If you need anything musically come see Ben.
Ben Owens rocks
Ben’s a great guy, went in there the other day and found a man and staff who genuinely care about music, unlike other stores in the Valdosta area. Pleasure was all mine and will shop there again.
I didn’t buy anything today but Chase was so friendly and helpful, when I’m ready I’ll be buying from them.
Small store but good selection of guitars, amps and accessories. They really should put prices on all their items. There were several things I was interested in but they weren’t priced and the staff got busy on the phone. Overall seemed like a good place.
Small business owners who are good at fixing and repairing instruments.
I used to take all my guitars to Ben when I lived here in the mid/late 90’s and it was always great! Not sure what happened, but I will NEVER let them touch my guitar again.
Took my guitar to get a few adjustments. Nothing major. Needed intonation, a small nut spur on the high e, and new strings(which I supplied.) Got the call 2 days later that it was ready. I grabbed it, paid my $70 and took off. I trusted them, so I gave it a quick glance and that was it.
Got it home and pulled it out. Hmm. My Floyd Rose Bridge was uneven, guitar was out of tune, and these were NOT the strings I gave. Tuned it up and the intonation was WORSE, still a spur on the high e, and when I tried my trem it wouldn’t budge. Wth.
Opened the back and they had BLOCKED my trem, not even a good blocking as the bridge was uneven. Didn’t touch the nut, didn’t even attempt intonation, and to add insult to injury they stole my NYXL strings. Including the extra set in the case.
Shameful how far they have fallen.
Garbage
Ripoff artists. Charged $50 for new strings. Said they were Elixirs. I know what Elixirs look and sound. They put on some cheap strings. DO NOT trust these guys. Never getting my business again.

I had been looking for a place to rent a cello for my 7 y/o for who’s been wanting to start for a year now. It was to be a surprise for Christmas. I found Danny’s to be exemplary. They helped not only with what I needed but went above expectation and quite spontaneously. As it turned out when I went in to pick up the cello after having filled out all the papers for the rental earlier in the morning, I needed to being my kiddo with me into town. The staff recognized the issue the moment I walked into the store and through a series of winks and thumbs up, coordinated getting the instrument into my car without the knowledge of the little recipient. I am absolutely going to be a return customer. So grateful. Kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and clever. 😉
Rentals, sales, and lessons. The band rentals here are far cheaper than the school reps prices.
Why on earth does this place have bad reviews?? I just went in super nervous to get the first guitar I’ve owned since I was a child and I was met with the nicest, most caring and friendly two people I’ve ever met! I didn’t feel like a stranger at all. It’s nice and clean in there and they’re very honest. The guitars are priced really fairly. And he can answer a lot of questions a beginner would have! I’m definitely going back.
Great selection, but don’t expect to touch anything unless you commit to buying something beforehand. How in the world can you do business like that? Walked in looking for a nice, higher end, acoustic, which they have, and was met with an ultimatum of buying the instrument before I even touched it. Puhhlease.
Great ! Large selection of instruments and friendly service !
Danny is a really good guy but he could do a little better on his prices but all an all he’s a really good guy! Nice shopping experience
They couldn’t be bothered helping me
My husband and I walked in here today fully willing to purchase anything with them since we bought my xlr cable here a few days ago from a male associate that wasn’t in today who was very pleasant. Today we didnt need it but we were even looking at audio interfaces, mic stands to potentially purchase if the customer service was right (despite finding it cheaper elsewhere). I bought an mic off of amazon that has no mechanical issues but it’s a condenser mic so it picks up a lot of background noise. So I went in to see if there was anyone who could advise on what to use/purchase there to treat the room to reduce noise for recording. Again I came in completely wanting to buy anything they had to help. As soon as the owner heard I got my mic off of amazon, he immediately said he can’t help me with anything and to contact amazon to fix my mic. I repeatedly said it wasn’t an issue with the mic but treating the room. Anyone who knows what their talking about should know condenser mics are more sensitive to background noise. At the last minute he pointed to some foam pads that I might use but shrugged and said to contact amazon again to fix it. It could’ve been a simple, I’m not sure about that question or we don’t have a product for it at this time, but their customer service stinks. I went to Ben Owens Music up the street, he wasn’t an expert on mics but I got great advice from what he could tell me and now thinking about going to do lessons with them. The owner is rude and the female associate made it a point to whisper to him loudly IN FRONT of us before he helped me that I didn’t buy the mic from them. I won’t be buying anything else, go here if you want to be treated like a nuisance!
Edited after the response from the owner: As you guys can see from their reply, they don’t pay attention to what you’re trying to say. I wasn’t servicing my mic or need service for my mic. They did not have the quality nor reasonable prices for a mic I needed in store, so I purchased mine elsewhere. What I did need was to buy products because I’m treating my room for recording and tried to purchase products from them and be a paying customer. They didn’t have a problem with me buying an XLR cable FROM THEM for the mic I bought from Amazon. Nor does everyone that walk in their store buying products for an instrument got their instrument from them. Amazon customer service is 1000 times better than this trash.
Not a great shop, Danny is super condescending and was constantly breathing down our necks. I can understand not being able to grab guitars off the shelf but you’re really not gonna let me use a pick.. at a guitar shop? Decent prices, sub-par service
